12. Sylvanus TRIPP was born in 1662 in Kittery, York, MA Bay (ME), or England. He died in 1741 in Kittery, York, MA Bay (ME). He was christened. He was buried in Kittery, York, ME. ! The name TRIPE was used for the first 4 generations, but later descendants used TRIPP. Maine was part of MA at this time. Sylvanus, a weaver, bought land from Margaret's mother that later was known as Tripe's Point and is now part of Kittery Navy Yard. His will, written 29 Dec 1714, proven 10 May 1716, left his entire estate to wife Margaret for mainte- nance for herself and their eight children who were named (GDMNH 694; Maine Wills 188-190) as Willian Tripe, Silvanus Tripe, Samuel Tripe, Thomas Tripe, Robert Tripe, Ionna Pope, Margaret Tripe and Mary Tripe. Inventory L212:06:0. Randall says that he is perhaps the youngest son of John of Newport, but dates tend to make this unrealistic. He was married to Margaret DIAMOND in 1695 in Maine. Margaret DIAMOND died in Jan 1741/42 in Kittery, York, ME. She was born. She was christened. ! Daughter of William Diamond, the will of Margaret Tripe of Kittery, York, MA Bay, was written 4 Jan 1741/2 and proved 19 Jan 1741/2 (GDMNH 694; William M. Sargent, ME Wills [Portland ME 1887] 435-7). In it were mentioned grandchildren Samuel Tripe, Abigail Tripe, Anna Tripe and William Tripe, the children of son Silvanus; son Thomas Tripe; son Robert Tripe; dau Joanna Pope; dau Margaret Fernald; dau Mary Follet; grandson Samuel Tripe, son of son Samuel Tripe dec.; son Robert Tripe; grandson Thomas Tripe; grand dau Margaret Tripe; grand dau Margaret Pope; grandson William Fernald; children of son Samll Tripe dec. - Sarah Tripe and Anne Tripe. child54 ii. William TRIPP died before 4 Nov 1739. He was born in Sanford, ME. He was christened. He was witness to a deed in 1713 and was mentioned in his father's will.
