Sylvanus, a weaver, bought land from Margaret's mother that later was known as Tripe's Point and is now part of Kittery Navy Yard. His will, written 29 Dec 1714, proven 10 May 1716, left his entire estate to wife Margaret for mainte- nance for herself and their eight children who were named (GDMNH 694; Maine Wills 188-190) as Willian Tripe, Silvanus Tripe, Samuel Tripe, Thomas Tripe, Robert Tripe, Ionna Pope, Margaret Tripe and Mary Tripe. Inventory L212:06:0. Randall says that he is perhaps the youngest son of John of Newport, but dates tend to make this unrealistic.
