Grinols; 1855 NY census) He was listed in Northumberland, Saratoga co., NY in 1800 with 1 male 10-16, one male 26-45, one female 10-16 and one female 26-45. In 1810, Benjamin is in Boyle, Ontario co. NY with 2 males 45+, one male 10-16, one female 0-10, one female 26-45 and one female 45+. Lyman is identified as heir of Benjamin in Monroe co. deed (L 28:243; L42:267; Valentine incorrectly identifies him as son of Lott5). Northfield on the Genessee by McNabb, Thompson and Husted - Benjamin was voted one of two overseers of the poor at the first town meeting of Penfield on 2 Apr 1811, a post he had held in Northfield since 1806. His farm of 54 acres lay along Penfield Road at Lot 37, later called the Harris farm. Orsamus Turner, Pioneer Settlement of Phelps and Gorham Purchase [1851] lists him as a town officer in Penfield.
