EIGHTH GENERATION
2233. Jonathan TRIPP
was born in 1765 in Queensbury, Washington Co., New York. He died on 3
Nov 1820 in Tyre, Seneca County, New York. Bock: Jonathan Tripp is listed in
Queensbury Town, Washington County, New York in 1790 with 1 male overe 16 and
1 female and in 1800. Jonathan of Queensbury, Washington County purchased land
in Junius in 1806, signed by his brother James Tripp who was known to be son
of William of Queensbury. In 1823, some disputed land owned by Jonathan in Lots
20 and 34 was returned to his widow Olive. He was killed in his own sawmill while
attempting repairs and was not discovered until the next day. Analysis of Census
Data shows that he had 8 children, 4 males and 4 females. Rachel is positively
identified, and other children seem to include Thomas, Benejah (who lived on
Lot 20- and Asa. (Valentine [see William 134] [Benejah's will on p. 115; Paul
L. Tripp D86; Obit in "Geneva GAzette" of November 15, 1820; Charles
Quick; Grantee Index p:528, County Clerk's Office, Seneca County, Waterloo New
York; LDS Computer from Richard G. Tripp, 8666 Buffalo Drive, Union Lake, Michigan
48085). Herman William Tripp--Remembering......4th Cousin Jonathan, five times
removed, whose death would torment anyone. He was married to Olive TRIPP about
1790. Olive TRIPP was born between 1780 and 1790
in Junius, Seneca County, New York. She died after 1840 in Tyre, Seneca County,
New York. She was christened. d!1)Olive, logically, is the SECOND wife of Jonathan.
She is named in his will, and shows up on the 1830 census of Tyre, Seneca, NY.
2)1830 CENSUS, TYRE: OLIVE TRIPP 0 0 0 1 0 1 - 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 Perhaps she went
to Michigan with Thomas. She may have died in Tyre after 1830. There is record
of a death, about 1840, of a 20 year old Olive Tripp, which would have to be
another Olive, perhaps her daughter or granddaughter.* P. Tripp, 3/87. 3) *Further
research reveals her to be the daughter of Benajah. 4) I assume Calvin is her
son. See Calvin ID20383, for logic. She seems to be the older female in his
household, 1840 census. If so, she died after 1840. 5)As of 10/89 I remove Mary
Tripp as first wife of Jonathan, and give the stage wholly to Olive. P. Tripp.
This is because of finding of deceased Olive Tripp in Ref Ch Cem, dead age 19,
buried 1811. Mary is in limbo, maybe sister to Jonathan. Jonathan TRIPP and
Olive TRIPP had the following children:
4817 i.
Olive H. TRIPP was born on 31 Jan 1792 in Queensbury, Washington Co.,
New York. She died on 16 Aug 1811 in Junius, Seneca County, New York. She was
christened. She was buried in Reformed Ch.Cem., Tyre, Seneca County, New York.
!1)Census of 1810, Seneca Co. I assign her to Mr. Vandervoort, because she
is the oldest female daughter, and named first in Jonathan's Probate, 1821. 2)Chas
Quick found her in Tyre Ref Ch Cemetery, per per PLT ARCHIVES, V21. I assign
her to Jonathan, logic in V21. She is NOT spouse of Mr. Vandervoort. She died
age 19. Herman William Tripp--Remembering......a sad farewell to such a young
girl, who went to the next level so early in life, my cousin Olive H. I had another
cousin by the name of Olive Belle die so young, and we remember her also.

Charles TRIPP was born in 1795 in Queensbury, Washington Co., New York.
! By process of elimination, I conclude the Charles Tripp, present at Jonathan's
inventory, 1820, is a son of Jonathan (rather than Jonathan's nephew, --James'
son--Charles) along with Thomas; and, that the James present is Jonathan's brother.
This fits, assumimg earlier logical assignments (of xx,xx,xx) are correct. What
I mean is, there is only one remaining son of Jonathan to give a name, and this
Charles I assume is Jonathan's son, fits only here because this is the last male
child of Jonathan's I have not logically matched to an existing TRIPP in census
or other record in Seneca County. August 13, 1987: On 15 Feb 1859 there was a
marriage at res ofHon. Charles Tripp in Dexter, Washtenaw, Mich. Maybe this
is why Charles does not show up in later life in Seneca Co. Is he with his brother
Thomas in Washtenaw Co? (From Michigan Argus, 18 Feb 1859) Herman William Tripp--Remembering......4th
