The Grand Introduction

Okay, here you are and this may be my 15 minutes of fame. Here you will find some of my ramblings, a few interesting links and some other garbage out there in the Web. It, like any digital page will evolve over time, perhaps into something worth both our times. It is a deep hope of mine that I don't offend anyone, but, people are people and somewhere someone will get ticked off about it. I'll just hope the odds are in my favor. If I can get you to pause, think or perhaps even laugh a little, then I did what I set out to do.

Time passes and things seem to change, even my website. It may be slow but there are things I like to say now and then.

Things are more like they are now than they have ever been before - President Gerald R. Ford

Who am I, you may ask...

I have done consulting in the fields of archeology and anthropology as well as teaching ferrier sciences, theater stage weapon construction and the history of arms and armor. I've also worked in private security, investigations, been a cowboy (hat and all!) and a few other things. Needless to say, my tastes are a tad eclectic. Of late I have added historical garments, a bit more fiction writing, reverends credentials (for Ohio) and more web-design. Let's add in weekends as a volunteer running a full blacksmith shop at a historical village, teaching at the shop new students, and now I am part owner of a computer company : Athens Computers and Multimedia Enterprises,LLC....sheesh, no wonder I am usually tired.

A few comments about the Web.

How long have I been working with computers? Well, my first program was on punch cards and I never saw the computer it ran on. Then came the TSR-80 with a cassette tape drive running at a blazing 300 baud. Then the TI-99, Commadore 64 and Vic-20's. Move along to the Apples, back before they became idiot boxes (No offence to the Mac people out there).I remember building my first 8080 when the 286 16mhz hit the market. Back in the day, 2400 baud was smoking and the net was clear of all the crud we have today. Back when Archie was more than a comic and gopher was a tool, not a rodent in your yard. Before lag time and net congestion. Long before everyoneandtheirbrother.com hit the bandwidth. I remember MoonDog, Sammie, the Gunslingers and Orchid Software. This was back when skill was the thing, not what I bought for hardware. If you don't know these names, don't skoff. These were some of the originals. We were and are the real street samuri. Take your hat off and be respectful if you ever find one of them. Greets if your out there somewhere my friends. 2600 was not just a magazine but a useful tool for free long distance. Boxing was not pounding someone but using the systems aginst themselves. Netscape didn't exist and Mozilla was just a neat idea. So listen up any script kiddies out there: Don't talk to me about being '3l33t' and being a 'hacker', I was in the trenches when you weren't even a complex protein chain. Now, shut up, turn your hat around, pull up your pants and sit down. You just might learn something.

Well, you made it down here, congrats! This website is a lot like an old Victorian house, there are all sorts of things stuffed in various nooks and crannies, just take some time with the links at the top and have a peek around. If you don't like what you find, well, it's free and you got your moneys worth.
