Delno McClure is the retired sheriff. He is at the age of sixty-four, and has lived in Allensville all his life, appart from the time he spent in the service. This is a rough record of the dialogue from his interview. The questions and answers are written as the basic points of the interview. This is not the exact dialogue, but it is what was said for the most part.
Q- How old are you?
A- Sixty-four.
Q- How long have you live in Allensville?
A- We lived there, 15, 16 years. . . something like that. Then we moved up here. I was raised there.
Q- Is there some sort of family chain that started here or did you just move here?
A- No. I was just raised there, and after the service, we bought a house out at Allensville and moved here.
Q- What was your school like?
A- I went to school in a one room school house out in Fairview.
Q- Was there any activities you did after school?
A- Nothing, only basketball and baseball.
Q- What kind of family activities did you do on the weekends?
A- Granges, and things like that.
Q- What were your favorite things to do on the weekends?
A- I was just a hillbilly; I just messed around in the woods and did stuff like that.
Q- Any stories or memories of when you were a kid?
A- Nothing special, ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be in law enforcement. So, I later ran for sheriff.
Q- Do you have any special occasions you like to go to?
A-No.
Q- Do you remember any big events that occurred in Allensville?
A- Back then, fifties and forties, thats as far as I can remember back cause my grandma used to live back there, a fire either in 40 or 41, burnt down a grocery store, some restaurants, some apartments, and then it jumped across the street to the pool-house.
Q- Is there any particular reason why you live here?
A- No. I was just raised here. This is where Ill stay.
Q- What kind of jobs were in Allensville?
A- Mostly farm work.
Q- What kind of qualifications did you need?
A- I didnt need much, I worked for my dad in the timber. My dad did work for Couger Brothers Sawmill.
Q- How old were you when you got your first job?
A- I first worked in the timber at eighteen in a sawmill.
Q- How old were you when you got your first car?
A- I was around eighteen; it was a 1947 Ford. I traded a white-faced cow as a down payment for the car.
Q- Were there any hardships you and your family went through?
A- We raised our own food, and meat and such.
Q- What did your home look like?
A- We had a five-room house, two stories.
Q- What changes have Allensville went through?
A- After the fire they rebuilt the old grocery store, Allens grocery store.
Q- Is there anything you would like to add?
A- No, not much. A lot things are different now. Back then the roads werent paved; they were all just gravel.
