How did Dorothy's mother earn a living during The Depression?

00:02:10: During World War II we needed stamps to buy sugar and coffee.
00:02:20: For fun, we'd go to shows, neighbor's homes, ride horses and baseball.
00:02:50: Assassination of John F. Kennedy? I was in Columbus and it was depressing.
00:04:10: Church was cool, I used to sing in the choir.
00:04:43: Worked at Union Lunch at $1.04 an hour.
00:05:48: Peoples values then? Not very different from now.
