Exceptionalities - Seizures

Signs and Symptoms
Seizures are caused by a change in electrical activity in the brain. This can result in sudden spasming of muscles resulting in uncontrollable twitching, blackouts, snorting, foaming at the mouth, and a host of other symptoms. Seizures can range from mild to severe - with some forms of seizures, particularly petit mal, being nearly unrecognizable. Seizures can occur most commonly as a result of brain injury, epilepsy, and high fever. While seizures can bee scary to witness, they are rarely life-threatening.

Miles' Seizures
Miles is killed trying to rescue his clone brother, Mark, on Jackson's Hole. He is immediately put into a cryogenic chamber. (Basically, he's deep frozen.) Although there is one benefit, (his spine is somewhat straightened out during reparative surgery) becoming a "corpsicle" is not Miles' idea of a good time. Especially when after recovery, he finds out that he now has seizures - and they become more likely if he is under stress. It is not typical epilepsy, but is debilitating nonetheless. Miles now does not even get to enjoy driving or flying his lightflier, especially as he does not want to get into an accident.

Eventually, the doctors are able to come up with a device which will trigger a seizure at the time of Miles' choosing. So, they become somewhat manageable.
