Working with the spirits of animals, which we call animal allies (called "power animals" in some literature), is characteristic of shamanic practice throughout the world. Animal allies are usually our first, and for some practitioners remain our strongest, connection with Spirit throughout years of shamanic practice.

This workshop explores the kinds of relationships practitioners and students have with animal allies, including anecdotes from more than two decades of teaching and insights from ethnographic material.

You will explore personal connections with allies in ordinary reality through natural history, and in the shamanic realities through targeted journeywork. We journey to classical animal allies shared by many powerful shamanic cultures and your unique animal spirits.
