"I'm
a convert to Craniosacral
therapy ... utterly amazing."
--Healing
Retreat
Client, May 2003
I
think that release last night in the throat area was important. I had
previously worked with a therapist (using EMDR) on being spontaneous
... I think the work last night was a part of that issue. My conclusion
is that it is important to work on stuff through more than one modality
in order to completely process all the little bits and pieces. ... So,
thanks a lot."

"Precisely
every 12 sidereal hours...the earth throbs. The cause remains
mysterious, it may have something to do with lunar and solar tides, but
the effect is clear. The pulse of our planet beats regularly, once very
11 hours, 57 minutes, and 57.3 seconds, earth
time.
--Lyall Watson, The Dreams of Dragons,
p.95
Thanks
to Lyall Watson for showing us that Mother Earth also has mysterious
rhythms, not unlike our own personal cranio-sacral rhythms.
Craniosacral therapy has its roots in the
beginnings of osteopathic medicine in the
late 1800s and continues to grow today through bio-medical and energy
healing research. A number of organizations and teachers have developed
philosophies and teaching methods using craniosacral healing
techniques, each with its own unique approach.
Researchers,
practitioners and recipients of this therapy are struck by its gentle,
subtle nature and light, deeply caring touch. Often, no more pressure
than the weight of a nickel is used to adjust the alignments of the
craniosacral system. Yet, amazing healing results from these changes.
In
giving and receiving this therapy, one is immediately aware of its
powerful connection with energy healing. Smoothing the craniosacral
rhythm also smoothes the flow of energy in the recipient's body. Most
craniosacral teachers make sure new students understand the
significance of energy in the work; See The Heart of Listening,
V. I & II, by Hugh Milne, for a powerful statement of this approach.
Craniosacral
work is not a direct descendent of the ancient shamanic healing
modalities nor is it massage therapy, but in its ability to connect
body, mind and spirit, it is an ideal compliment to shamanic healing
and intense body work such as Structural
Therapy. Many of our clients find it a significant component of
their work with us.
