My name is Neal Scott and I completed the Two-Week Intensive workshop with Bekki and Crow in October 2007.  I attended the Fundamentals of Shamanism with them in August 2005 and took every advanced course they offered in our area (southeastern Virginia) over those two years.

I grew up in Oklahoma in the sixties and seventies.  The Native American experience was always felt there, usually just under the surface of everyday life.  My grandfather often found Native artifacts on the land he worked as a farmer.  This land (as I discovered during the Circle of the Ancestors workshop) was the home of an ancestress, a powerful Medicine Woman from a very long time ago.  Through the power of this workshop and my subsequent work, I again walk the land I trod when I was growing up.  I feel the power of the place and learned my ancestral connection to Shamanic work.

As I became aware of my sexuality, I began looking for positive people that could influence my life as it was becoming; I learned that the healer for many tribal peoples was someone who was different, a person who crossed the sexual boundaries of the usual culture.  These healers, these Medicine Men and Women, became positive role models for me and worked mightily to overcome the mostly negative portrayals of people like myself in the media.

Much more recently, I discovered and read By Oak, Ash, & Thorn; Modern Celtic Shamanism by D.J. Conway.  Her research may be suspect, but this book really opened my eyes to Shamanism existing outside of Native American/Asian cultures.  This book started my exploration in these realms and by following the author’s suggested meditations and journeys, I took my first hesitant steps into this realm I now walk.

The teachings of Bekki and Crow have profoundly changed my life.  Using what they have taught, I was able to communicate with my very ill father, even though he was in Oklahoma unable to speak and I was in Virginia.  Their willingness to work with a student no matter that student's previous experience have given me the opportunity to correct my path as needed, and to reach the place I am now.

I enjoy doing Shamanic healing for people because through these techniques and my connections to Spirit, people can get a few pieces of their lives back into place (or intrusions into their lives removed) and from this small step, begin to make their life into the full and rich tapestry it should be.

I practice out of The Mystical Attic, 7510 Granby St, Ste 7, Norfolk Virginia 23505.  The phone number is (757) 226-7174.
