This is a beautiful and very hardy fern, and can be grown almost anywhere.
Unlike most maidenhairs, the stipe of this fern splits and forms two arcs with the pinnae radiating out on only one side, forming a fan-shaped frond outline.
It is often found in moist areas around woodland streams, but also commonly grows in mats on wet rock, especially limestone. It does not appreciate standing water, however, needing good drainage.
This fern can easily be grown as a garden plant as long as it is not allowed to dry out severely.
