Kingdom: Plantae
Division:
Archeophyta
Class: Ophioglossopsida
Order: Botrychiales

Family: Botrychiaceae

This family of plants includes ones that, like the Ophioglossaceae, only send up one frond per year, possibly with an accompanying spore stalk. Some members of this family are large enough to be easily found, while some are infinitesimal and can only be found by a close inspection while crawling on the ground. Some do not even send up a frond every year, and some that do have almost no leaf tissue in the frond. All plants in this family depend on a mycorrhizal association.

Genera of Botrychiaceae:

  1. Botrychium
  2. Botrypus
  3. Japanobotrychium
  4. Sceptridium
