Genus: Athyrium: the lady ferns

This genus comprises mostly temperate and subarctic moisture-loving ferns of the woods. All are deciduous, but most make good plants for the garden.

Some species now placed in other genera of the Athyriaceae were formerly placed in Athyrium, including Diplazium pycnocarpon and Deparia thelypterioides.
