Openlands is a source for a variety of outdoors furniture and structures. Some products are listed below:

Picnic Tables

These tables, either pre-assembled or in kit form, are of the usual picnic-table style, with a rectangular table top and attached seat benches on both sides. These tables normally have a table surface 30" wide, and may be in any length up to ten feet. Custom sizes may be negotiated.

Foot Bridges

These bridges are normally 36" wide, and may be in any length up to twenty feet. Custom sizes may be negotiated. Side rails are 36" high. On bridges up to ten feet, each bridge has five 2x10 main stringers. Over ten feet, five 2x12 stringers are used. Cross-bracing includes internal boxing and diagonal braces to add stability, strength, and to resist sway. Ends are boxed off. Handrail posts are no farther apart than five feet, and are made using 4x4 stock. They are strengthened by diagonal braces on extended decking boards. Decking is made using 2x6 lumber. We include instructions on how to provide proper support and anchoring for the bridge. The usual methods are to pour concrete abutments or to use 6x6 bearing blocks, anchored into the ground using #5 rebar.

Signs

Routed wooden signs may be custom-ordered, made of any wood but redwood, and routed in any style. Standard letter templates and routing contours are less expensive than more customized work. Any artwork may be reproduced. The signs are available in any size up to a full sheet of plywood (four feet by eight feet), or in lumber stock up to ten feet long.

Information Boards (Kiosks)

We offer custom-built all-wooden outdoor information boards for display of printed matter. A vertical plywood surface is framed, and sheltered by a small roof. A cork covering is optional, as are protective plexiglass doors on either or both sides. Sign-board area is usually four feet square, four by six feet, or four by eight feet. Inquire for other sizes. Standard roof level starts at 7.5 feet above the ground. Because of the ingenious structural design, there are NO fasteners visible on the main structural components.

Normally, items are made of CCA/pressure-treated yellow pine for the structural parts, with a choice of the same or of rough-cut red oak for exposed parts, such as the treadway on bridges, or the table surface and seats on picnic tables. Other woods may be available by special order. Threaded, removable fasteners are used exclusively, except for shingles on the information boards. With items other than bridges, most hardware is not visible.
