In 1995 -- marking its 100-year anniversary -- Lavazza took up the challenge
once again and this time a young German photographer was chosen to breathe
life into a story about coffee. Ellen Von Unwerth, a pupil of Helmut Newton,
had become more and more famous worldwide for a style combining the power and
drive of her maestro with her own feminine sensitivity.
The six black-and-white photographs are a play of contrasts in which the
central role of coffee is played out in a dynamic, candid and very enjoyable
way: the girls are shown, individually and together, in situations of ironic
and intriguing conflict or in poses which express the explosive power of their
intense female fascination.
The natural elegance and beauty of Carla Bruni, a star on the international
fashion scene, embodies the energy of coffee.
