CC looked on in horror at Fran and Max. She really didn't care about them. It was the fact that Niles had played a joke on her after she was so nice to him. She realized how much she cared about him after he had his heart attack. She walked over picked up the flowers and dumped them on him, dirt and all.
"You pig! Why was I nice to you. You big jerk!" She threw the basket at him, picked up her purse and walked out in a huff.
Niles just sat there, shocked at her reaction. 'She was nice to me and what did I do in return, I played a stupid joke. I'm so stupid.' He then saw the curtain open. He saw Fran and Max fixing their clothes.
"I think I should go talk to her and she if she is ok." Max left, anything to get out of what just happened. Fran smiled thinking that they were fianlly togeter. Max came back a short time later.
"Did you catch her?"
"No."

CC arrived at her apartment and sat down on the couch with a drink. She was about to drink it when she dumped it down the sink. She needed to stop that and smoking too. She sat back on the couch and thought about some stuff. She then decided what she was going to do. She went into her study and began to write a letter to Max.
Dear Maxwell,
I am writing this letter to you because I can't take it anymore. The jokes from Niles. It has been going on way to long. I think its time I just quit. I need to do this for myself. I am tired of all the jokes that have been played on me. Niles needs to grow up and I can see that is not going to happen. I feel its for both of our interests if I just left and I don't care about yours and Nannyfine's relationship. I am happy for you. I am glad you finally decided to take the next step. You see when Niles had his heart attack I realized how much he meant to me and that I loved him but then he played that cruel joke on me. I mean when he first woke up that was what happened. Can you believe that. I was really hurt by it. If you feel you need to tell Niles and that he desereves to know, go a head but don't let him read his letter just because. Good luck with Nannyfine. See you in the near future.

CC then put in the letter in an envelope and seeled it. She decided she would leave New York. Her sister has been asking her to come and visit so she decided to go there. She called her sister and she was really excited. CC then packed most of her stuff and then went to sleep. The next day she drove over to the Sheffields and put the envelope in the mail box. She then went home and packed the rest of her stuff. She donated all of her furniture and dishes to goodwill. She didn't need them. After she packed and gave her keys back. She put all her stuff into her car with the help of the doorman. She only had four suitcases. A lot of dress bags full of evening gowns, a make-up case, and three boxes. She called her sister to tell her she just left. She went to the Sheffields and had one last look where she has worked for the last ten years. She sat there for a second but then saw Niles coming out so she drove off.
Niles came out and saw CC's car drive away. He shook his head. He guessed she wasn't coming to work today. He then saw the envelope and went to give it to Max. He entered the office. Fran was on the desk talking about the lastest gossip of Flushing Queens.
"Mr. Sheffield, this letter is for you. It looks like its from Miss. Babcock." Max took the envelope and read it. He was shocked.
"Niles I think you should read this." He handed the envelope to Niles. He read it and stood there in shock. Fran took it and read it also. 'CC loves me! I am such an idiot. Now she has quit because of my stupid jokes and insults.'
"I don't understand. The insults you two trade back and forth I thought was just the way you comunicated. I didn't think it really hurts her." said Fran with concern
"Well, as long as I have known CC, she doesn't like to show her feelings very well. At Sara's funeral she didn't even cry and Sara was her best friend. I think she likes to be in private when she shows her emotions."
"I kind of understood that she didn't like to show a lot of emotion the first few weeks I was here."
"Yeah. I just can't believe she quit. I just can't believe it." said Max walking out of the office.

CC finally arrived in L.A. She couldn't wait to get to her sisters. She had a lot to tell her. She finally was pulling up to the huge mansion where her sister, husbend, four kids live. She also had one on the way. She walked up to the door and rung the bell. The maid opened the door and was about to go get DD when she came down the stairs.
"CC!"
"D, how are you?"
"I'm good. Come in, come sit down." They walked into the sitting room and sat down to talk. "I am so glad you quit that job. I am sick and tired of hearing about this butler who makes all these wise cracks."
"I am kind of glad but I will miss it though."
"Why?"
"Well, I have worked there for ten years. I am going to miss them."
"Well, anyway, there is someone here to see you."
"Who?" Just then a very handsome man walked in. CC gasp. It was her ex husbend Nick Marshall. (I thought Mel Gibson would be the perfect husbend for CC. Plus, he is a babe.) He walked over and hugged CC. She felt that spark and warmness she always felt with him. He pulled away and looked at her.
"CC its good to see you."
"Yeah, D can I talk to you for a minute."
"Sure but..." CC dragged DD into the fore
"What right do you have to bring him here?"
"Hey, this is my house and if I want to bring him here and have him visit, I guess thats my business."
"You just want to play match maker!" DD rolled her eyes and then Nick walked into the room.
"CC, I know what you are thinking. Why am I here? But I just wanted you to know that I am sorry I left. I know I shouldn't have but I did and I wish I could change it but I can't."
CC looked at him and for once in all the times she has known him she saw sincerety in his eyes. She quickly melted into the crystal blue eyes.(I don't know what color eyes he has, I just guessed.).
"Maybe you two could go out for dinner and catch up on old times. I already make reservations for two at a nice little french resturant tonight at eight." CC looked at her sister, smirked and shook her head.
"I think thats great. It that ok CC. Meet you here at 7:30?"
"Sure that would be fine."
"Ok, see you then." Nick left and CC went to unpack. By the time she unpacked it was 6:00pm and she had to get ready. She was going through all the dresses she had. DD was walking by and heard her sister's frustration.
"Whats wrong?"
"Well, I have no dress to wear."
"You have all of these dresses."
"Yes but they seem all wrong!" DD looked at her sister and chuckled.
"Whats so funny?"
"You acted the same way on your first date out with Nick. Look, I have the perfect dress. You get in the shower and then meet me in my room ok." CC got into the shower. When she got out she put on her robe and went to her sisters room. She saw DD getting a dress out of her closet. CC gasp. It was black silk, with a scoop neck, it had a flowy hem, it ended well above the knees, and had little diamonds in it.
"D, I can't wear that!"
"Why not?"
"Because its way to short!"
"No its not and its perfect. Now come on, we have to do your hair." DD dragged CC back into her room and began to dry her hair a little. She rolled her hair in big rollers. CC did her make-up and then DD came in to take the curls out. She then dried the rest of her hair and brushed it a tiny bit to make her hair look fuller.
"All done."
"Thanks D."
"Your welcome."
DD left and CC got into the dress. She put on a silver diamond necklace and dangling diamond earrings. It was 7:30 on the dot when the door bell rang. The maid answered and Nick walked it. He breath catched in his throat when he saw CC. He was holding a bouquet of peach/pink colored roses. CC's favorite.
"CC, you look beautiful. These are for you."
"Why thank you."
"Are you ready?"
"Yes."
CC had a great time. They danced and talked about old times and they ended the date at the door of the mansion.
"I had a wonderful time Nick."
"So, did I. Well, see ya."
"Nick."
"Yeah." He turned around and it was followed by CC's lips crashing down on his. He accepted the kiss. They then said their goodbyes and CC walked into the mansion. She had a dazed look on her face for a minute and then she saw her sister smiling at the entrence to the fore.
"So how was it?"
"Well, I am not the one to tell." CC started to walk up the stairs to go to bed. DD was still trailing behind CC.
"Come on, tell me what happened." CC turned around at her bedroom door and smiled.
"It was wonderful." She then closed the door. DD smiled and went to go tell her husbend.

Its two months later. CC and Nick are hot and heavy. DD is really showing now at six months. But unexpected visiters come. It was about ten at night. CC and Nick are curled up on the couch watching a movie. DD adn her husbend Brian, and their other kids were with them.
"Did I tell you CC that someone might produce Brian's play."
"Really?"
"Yeah him and his family are coming over in the morning. Their all the way from New York."
"Great"
"There will also be a little party in that ballroom downtown tomorrow night."
"Thats nice."
CC really didn't hear anything because she was half asleep. DD shook her head and watched the movie. Nick saw CC asleep and picked her up to carry her to bed.
The next morning CC decided to make breakfast. She made waffles, sausage, eggs, fruit salad, crossiants, and toast. She was just setting the table when the door bell rang. DD answered it. CC thought she was hearing things when she heard Nannyfine's voice. She walked back into the kitchen to get the last two plates. She walked into the fore to see all the Sheffields, Niles, and Fran. She was standing there in the shadows so they couldn't see her.
"We are sorry we are early but...."
"Thats ok."
"All right well, um can I see the play?"
"How about we discuss this over breakfast, someone just cooked so much and we usually have so much left over."
"Ok."
CC quickly walked into the diningroom and into the kitchen. DD walked in.
"What are you doing in here?"
"That's Maxwell Sheffield, the guy I used to work with."
"I didn't know. Come on."
DD dragged CC out into the diningroom. The Sheffields looked up and were shocked to see her. She saw down next to Nick nervously. They started to pass everything around. Brian and Max were talking about the play. CC just sat there in silence. She remembered everything she wrote in the letter, she was embarrassed. She was in love with two men.
"This is wonderful, who cooked it?" asked Fran
"Well, my sister did."
"Who's your sista?"
"Well...." said DD pointing to CC.
"You two are sisters!"
"Yes, what did you think I was here for?" said CC
"I don't know."
"So are you two married?" said DD to Max and Fran
"No!" said Fran with a glare at Max
"Oh, your dating?"
"Depends on how you look at it." said Fran "So, Miss. Babcock are you dating anyone?"
"Yes, Nick over here."
"How did you two meet?"
"We met in college."
"College?!?"
"Well, you see...."
"We used to be married."
"What?"
"We divorced ten years ago. Around the time I first started to work for Maxwell."
"Did you ever have any children?" CC froze and tears almost came down her cheeks.
"Yes, her name was Kathy, she passed away when she was three."
"If I may ask, how did she die?"
"She had cancer."
"Oh."
"Yeah well, I do miss her but it was a long time ago and I have accepted it. I'm full I think I'll go for a walk." CC got up and went to the backyard, out to the edge of the ocean. (DD's house is on by the ocean.) She stood out there just thinking about her daughter. 'Nick left because he just couldn't handle it. He drank the more Kathy got sick and the less chance she had for survival. Gosh I miss her so much.' She walked back in and saw the Sheffields bringing suitcases in.
"What are you doing?"
"Well, we were going to stay in a hotel for the week we will be here but your sister said there are so many rooms here."
"Oh no." They went up the stairs where the maid would show them to their rooms. CC just stood there bumed. She felt to muscular arms wrap around her tiny waist. She turned to see Nick.
"Hey, why so glum?"
"I just don't want them here."
"Oh I am sure they won't be so bad."
"Yeah, you say that now." Nick just laughed and kissed her cheek. He left and CC decided to take a swim. She got into her swim suit. It was black bikini. It strings that tied around her neck and upper part of her back. The bottom was in a sexy v-shape. She grabbed some tanning lotion and headed to the outdoor pool. Her neices Miranda and Catalina were already out there.
"Hey Aunt CC."
"Hello."
"Whoa!"
"What?"
"Your wearing a bikini."
"Yeah so."
"You never wore one before."
"I just bought this yesterday when I went shopping with your mother."
"Ok." CC was putting on tanning lotion when Nick walkd out.
"Hey Nick you want to put lotion on my back?"
"Sure."
He squirted some in his hands and began to massage her back. CC loved it when he put lotion on her. His hands were magic. CC soon fell into a trance like thing and then fell asleep.
"CC are you asleep?" She didn't answer, he just laughed kissed her head and went back inside. On his way in he saw everyone walking out.
"Hey. Shhh. Don't wake up the three sleeping beauty's." said Nick as he pointed to CC, Miranda, and Catalina.
"They all fell asleep?" asked Fran
"Yeah, CC probably fell asleep with Nick putting lotion on her." said DD. Nick smiled and went inside. Niles tried to keep his eyes off CC when walking past her into a chair.
"So you really like the play?"
"Yes, I love it. I would love to produce it right here in L.A. What I might do I would stay in a hotel for the rest of the summer."
"That sounds great but there's one problem."
"What's that?"
"You will not stay in a hotel. You will stay here."
"I don't think so."
"Sure, we always have room. We have about 30 rooms in this whole place."
"Well, if its ok with you and your husbend."
"Sure, my husbend wouldn't mind. Just to let you know, there is a party tonight at this ballroom downtown, your all invited if you would like to come."
"I think that would be fun." said Fran. CC was beginning to stir, so DD started to talk to her."
"CC the Sheffields are staying here for the rest of the summer."
"Oh gosh, that is just what I need." Fran looked at over at CC and gasp at what she saw.
"What?" growled CC.
"I just noticed the tattoo on your shoulder."
"Oh yeah." The Sheffields looked over and went wide eyed.
"When did you get that?"
"Oh she had that sense college. She got two tattoos and a belly botton ring."
"You have your navel peirced?!?"
"Not anymore."
"But you still have the tattoos?!?"
"Yes."
"Where is the other one?"
"Its on her ankle. It looks like an ankle bracelet."
"Miss. Babcock you are just full of surprises."
"Yeah, yeah." CC got up and went back inside.

That night, Max, Brighten, Niles, and Nick waited for the woman. Max was escorting Fran. Brighten was taking Miranda, the oldest of DD's children, Nick was going with CC of course. They were all downstairs ready to leave until Miranda saw what her aunt was wearing.
"Your wearing that!"
"Whats wrong with it?" said CC looking down at her very expensive dress.
"Come on."
"Miranda, we don't have time." yelled her mother.
"Just give me 15 minutes." Miranda grabbed CC's hand and dragged her upstairs into her room. Miranda went through her closet until she found the dress.
"Here." It was a light blue, sparkle dress, it hardly had a neckline.
"I can't wear that."
"Why not, we wear the same size, now go." Miranda pushed her aunt into the bathroom. CC changed and came out.
"Now hair. Sit." Miranda took her hair out and brushed it a little then put it into a clip and hid the clip. She then pulled out little bits of her hair around her face and neck. CC looked and gasp. Her hair looked so much better this way. She finished it off with a simple pear shaped diamond necklace, and dangling earrings. Miranda went back into the closet and came out with matching wrap and purse.
"Here these go with the dress." CC took them and Miranda headed downstairs. CC tried to pull up the neckline up a little but it was no use. Everytime she would breath she felt like she was going to pop out. She went downstairs and concealed the neckline with the wrap. Miranda just shook her head and headed out the door with her date.
CC didn't notice but one of the admiring gazes.
"You look stunning."
"Thank you." CC took his arm and headed out to the limo. Niles couldn't help but feel jealousy with CC with that moron. 'She said she loved me, I don't understand. Well, I can't expect her to wait.' They arrived and CC handed her wrap to the man at the door. Niles eyes nearly popped out of his head. Nicks reaction was that he threw the wrap back on.
"I don't think so." She walked a head of him and entered the room. Nick went off to handle some business and CC was left alone. Niles walked up to her.
"Hello." said CC
"Hello, so this is where you have been all this time?"
"Yup."
"I still don't understand why you would quit over that."
"Niles I just was tired of all the insults ok."
"You only are tired of them, when they make fun of you."
"I don't have to take this." CC went off to and sat down at a empty table. Niles followed her.
"CC wait, look I'm sorry."
"What?"
"I'm sorry."
"No, you said my name." CC smiled and Niles smiled back. A slow song came on and Niles stood up, he extended his hand to CC.
"May I have this dance?" CC smiled and put her hand in his. They were laughing and talking. Nick came back, saw this and walked over to them.
"May I cut in." Niles looked, CC didn't want to let go , being with Niles just felt so right but Niles let go, kissed her hand and went back to the table. He watched Nick and CC dance together, he noticed her glance at him once in a while. Nick noticed this too. He just pulled her closer. CC was just beside herself. She loves Niles so very much but she loves Nick too. He was an old flame, confortable and familer. When the song ended CC let go.
"I am going to get a drink."
"I'll get it." said Nick
"No thats ok." She walked up to the bar and ordered champagne. She got her champagne and drank it very slowly. She was shaking a little. She didn't know what to do. She loved them both. How does she know which one is Mr. Right? Nick then walked up to CC.
"CC are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Ok, well, I just talk to this guy who is interested in me designing for his ad campagne. Isn't that great! I have to go out of town, so I am leaving now to go pack, you want me to take you home?"
"No, I will just go with the Sheffields."
"All right. Well my flight leaves in a half in hour. So bye." Nick kissed her and left. Niles walked up to her.
"So, where did lover boy go?"
"He went out of town, he is in advertising."
"Oh. So..."
"How is everyone doing in New York?"
"Good. They put an article in the Enquirer about you and Maxwell breaking up the business. They called you a selfish hag or something like that."
CC laughed. "Well, I was kind of selfish for quiting."
"Yeah but Mr. Sheffield got by. He said he couldn't yell at the backers the way you do."
"Yeah I kind of miss all that."
"Yeah but to let you on a little secret. Mr. Sheffield is interested in the play, its just he also decided when he saw you were here to ask you to come back to work for him. He really needs your help."
"I don't know. No one wants me there anyway. I mean Maxwell's kids hate me, you hate me, Nannyfine hates me. Whats the point." CC then walked off leaving a shocked Niles behind. Never mind about hating her being true he just never thought she actually cared if they did or not. Well, he loved her. He didn't hate her at all. He went after her and found her waiting by the limo.
"You followed me out here?"
"Yeah, well, I was worried. You looked kind of sad back there and just to let you know. They don't hate you, its just the way you talk to them and the way you can't even remember the kids names."
"I do to know their names. Maggie, Brighten, and Gracie. I just thought it was always more fun just to poke at you, Maxwell, and Nannyfine."
"What it did was make you look dumb."
"Yeah, I guess it did. What about you?"
"What about me?"
"You said that they don't hate me, what about you. Do you hate me?"
"Of course not. Why would I hate you."
"Well, because of the joke you played on me at the hospital."
"I know, you were nice to me and I was just a jerk. I was just jealous."
"Jealous of what?"
"Of Mr. Sheffield. He had caught your eye and I didn't. Well, thats what I thought until I read that letter."
"Wha..? I told him not to let you read it."
"Correction, you said unless you thought I needed to know."
"Yeah but I thought I would never see you again and I thought you hated me."
"Well, you were wrong." CC smiled at him and then stepped in the limo. She held out her hand and Niles stepped in after her. They were on the floor kissing each other when Niles stopped.
"What about Nick? Do you love him?"
"Well, I thought I did but I realized I just wanted him as a friend. It was a confortable friendship."
"Good. Now I can have my way with you." He kissed her again until he heard everyone coming. They quickly parted and sat opposite sides of the limo. Everyone piled in and saw them in there.
"Hey, we were looking for you too. We couldn't find Nick."
"Oh he went on a business trip at the last minute and left early to pack. His flight left a half hour ago."
"Oh, ok."
They all were silent. Some fell asleep. When they arrived everyone immediatly went to bed. Niles snuck off to CC's room once it was safe. He knocked on her door. She opened it and pulled him in and kissed him. He pulled away.
"What about the others?"
"Niles we are on another floor."
"Well aren't there other people on this floor?"
"No, when I moved in here. I needed privacy so I took the whole fourth floor."
"Great." CC then crashed her lips onto his. They were serisouly kissing when CC stopped. "Your killing me CC."
"Well, you will have to wait be right back." She went into the walk in closet and Niles sat down on the bed and waited. When CC returned Niles jaw dropped. She had changed into a see through short black night gown. She had nothing else underneath. She walked over and went past him when he tried to reach for her. She eased onto the bed and layed down. One hand above her head and the other on her stomach as if she were offering herself. Niles crawled over to her and climbed on top of her. He kissed her and undressed each other. They made love for hours. After they lay in each other's arms asleep.

Its almost the end of summer. Nick called and said he plane would land in 20 minutes and he would be back in 30. He had been gone for almost a month now. CC and Niles told everyone about their relationship. CC said she was going to tell Nick when he got back. CC was nervous to tell Nick the relationship was over. She was also worried about something else.
CC paced as the limo pulled up and Nick got out. He opened the door and pulled CC into an embrace. Everyone else was outside to give them some privacy. CC pulled away.
"Nick we have to talk."
"Ok." They walked into the living room and sat down.
"Nick, I don't think we should continue with this relationship."
"What, why? I thought you loved me."
"I do but not like you love me. I love you like a friend. Our relationship was confortable and familar. I don't love you like I did years ago."
"Its the butler isn't it."
"What?"
"I saw how you look at him. I could never get you to look at me with that much love no matter how hard I try. I understand. I just want you to be happy."
"You are so understanding." CC hugged Nick for the last time and he left.

CC went outside smiling. Everyone was in the pool but Niles. He looked up and pated the space in front of him. She sat between his legs and leaned back onto his chest.
"What did Nick say?"
"He took it well. He said all he wanted was for me to be happy."
"Well, I am happy." CC smiled and kissed him on the lips and Niles turned it into a passionate kiss. DD's other kids, Catalina, Brian Jr., and Andrew saw this and made a face. They were all under 10.
"Ewwww!" CC and Niles laughed and just sat back and enjoyed their new life.

The Sheffields and everyone else was back in New York. CC went back to work with Maxwell and he made her a full partner. Maxwell still hasn't made a commitment to Fran yet and she is getting frustrated. The kids and Fran now like CC very much. CC is much happier now.
CC walked down the new york street, missing all the noise. This is where she belonged. With Niles and working for Maxwell. She walked down the isle until she found what she was looking for. She payed for it and went back to the Sheffields. She made sure no one was there and made her way to the bathroom. But at that moment Fran decided to come out of the bathroom. CC quickly hid the thing behind her back.
"Hello Fran."
"Hi CC. Whats behind your back?" said Fran trying to grab it but CC moved away.
"Nothing."
"Ok." Fran started to walk away and CC moved to go into the bathroom but Fran grabbed it out of her hand. She gasp.
"A pregnancy test?!?"
"Shhh. I don't want Niles to know."
"Omg! You and Niles are having a baby."
"SHHH!!"
CC went into the bathroom and Fran waited outside. When CC came out she had this look on her face.
"What?"
"Its possitive."
"This is wonderful." Fran hugged CC.
"Just stop now. I have no idea how I am going to tell Niles. I just don't know how."
"Why don't you tell him over dinner?"
"Thats a good idea." CC went off to find Niles.
Meanwhile Niles is talking to Max about something very important.
"I am going to ask CC to marry me."
"Congradulations Niles. When are you going to ask her?"
"I was thinking tonight over dinner. Look at his." He pulled out a beautiful safire ring out to show him.
"How could you afford this?"
"Its a family airloom."
"Why I am sure CC will love it." Just then CC walks in and Niles hides the ring.
"Hey Niles."
"Hey. I was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner tonight?"
"Sure. I'd love that."
"Ok, see you at eight?"
"Ok." CC kissed Niles and left for the rest of the day to go shopping for a new dress. Niles has seen her in all of her other dresses. She brought Fran along for her opinion. They were looking at some.
"I just can't get over of you and Niles having a baby. Maybe he might propose."
"I don't think so. Unless he proposed before I told him maybe because I would want him to propose just because of the baby."
"Even if he did. He loves you."
"Yeah, he does and I love him." Fran gasp and held up a dress she thought would be perfect of CC.
"Look, this dress is just perfect." CC looked at it. It was beautiful. It was red silk and it ended to the knees, and had a low cut top. She tried it on and came out. CC loved it. She bought it and they left the store. Fran went back to the mansion and CC went back to her apartment to get ready for the date.
Niles arrived eight on the dot. He was holding a bouquet of peach/pink colored roses. CC opened the door and smiled. She accepted the flowers and put them in water. They then left and went to the resterant. Niles and CC were seated. Niles notice the waiter checking out CC and glared at him. They got their dinner when Niles decided to ask her now.
"CC there is something I want to tell you."
"There is something I want to tell you too. You go first."
"Ok. CC I love you, I have for a long time. These past couple of months has been the best of my life. CC Babcock will you marry me?" He took out the ring and showed it to her.
"Yes!" He took out the ring and put it on her finger. "Now what did you want to tell me?"
"Well, I'm pregnant."
"What?"
"I got a pregnancy test and it was positive but I want to go to the doctor to get a definate answer."
"This is great."

They both went home after dinner and told the Sheffields. They were all very happy. Max was going to propose to Fran soon. They were all so happy they didn't notice the face looking in. 'I will not give up that easily on you CC. No way.'
