A Continuation of "Fran's Gotta Have It"

Fran and Maxwell sat on the bed next to Niles's.

"Oh I tell you it really makes you think, doesn't it? … How unpredictable life can be…"

"That's right, that's why you have to live everyday to the fullest"

"Mmmm Mmmm… You never know when it's gonna be your last…"

"No!…"

They looked at each other shyly, then slowly, their heads got closer and their lips touched.

Max felt a jolt of electricity invade his body.

A wave of heat warmed Fran's insides from head to toe.

Still kissing her, he laid her on the bed and draw the curtain. It seemed his hands and body were possessed with a mind of their own. Both were terribly conscious that they shouldn't do that on a hospital bed, next to a close friend who had just had a heart attack, but on the other hand, they knew they had gone too far to stop there. Feverishly, they tugged at each other's clothes and let their hands wander on the other one's bare skin. Unable to resist much longer, they finally indulged in their passion. It was short, but intense, and both were overwhelmed by an intense wave of unbounded pleasure almost at the same time.

Because they were in a hospital room, their lovemaking was mute, but they couldn't prevent a long sigh from escaping both their throats…

Niles heard something in his drug induced sleep, and he opened his eyes a little, but he was too groggy to fully understand why his boss and his Nanny emerged disheveled from behind the curtain beside his bed, and he didn't notice the glow they both had in their eyes…

Max drove Fran home. The ride was silent. Both were busy trying to figure what they should do next. They finally reached home. They stepped in, but still didn't utter a single word. Max headed for the privacy and comfort of his office, while Fran climbed the stairs for the peace and shelter of her room.

They didn't see each other until dinner. The latter was very calm. With Niles at the hospital, Fran had ordered Chinese food, and they all ate in silence. The kids were not fooled one second. This unusual atmosphere was not only because of Niles's heart attack. Fran and their father avoided looking at each other and barely communicated. They could feel the tension between them: whatever it was, it must have been really serious. As soon as she was finished with her desert, Grace asked to be excused, imitated by both her elder siblings.

Fran stood up and started cleaning the table. Max helped her. She carried the plates to the kitchen, and he followed her. She put the dishes in the dish washer, and she did not see him putting the various empty boxes into the trash can before coming right behind her, so she was a bit taken aback when she raised from her squatting position and felt his chest upon her back. He lightly stroked one of her shoulders, sending shivers down her spine.

She turned to face him and their eyes locked. She witnessed then the terrible struggle this man, whom she happened to love more than life herself, had just undergone with himself. In his eyes she saw fear, helplessness, rage, passion, then unbounded love, and then, without a word, he lowered his head and kissed her, hugging her tightly and trying to put in his kiss all the answers she expected from him. Still silently, they went upstairs and reached Fran's bedroom; She tried to enter her room with him, but he pulled her back and he opened his door.

"That's where you belong now… in my room…"

He pulled her silently in his room and shut the door. They stared at each other in the dark. He put his hands on both sides of her neck and gently pulled her head to his. Their lips touched again, and they shared a most passionate kiss. Fran's hands started to unbutton feverishly the shirt he had changed in before dinner, but he steadied her.

"No… Let's do it right now… " He murmured.

He grabbed her wrists and pulled her to him. She closed her eyes and abandoned herself in the soft kisses he started to trace along her cheek, then her neck, and in his soft and sensuous strokes along her arms and her back.

He sneaked his hands under her blouse and slowly pulled it off her skirt, then he unbuttoned it and let his hands wander on her shoulders before making it slide down her arms and fall on the carpet.

She put her palms on his shirt, and undid the buttons one by one. When he was bare chested, she started kissing his warm and slightly moist skin, getting inebriated with his male scent mixed with his cologne.

He stroked her back and unhooked her bra.

It followed the blouse on the carpet.

They drew apart a little, and he contemplated her. Staring at him, she unzipped her skirt ant let it fall too, she got rid of her shoes not breaking eye contact and stood before him clad only in her underwear.

Drowning in her eyes shining in the soft darkness brightened by the pale light of the moon coming through the window, he slowly unbuckled his belt, and let his trousers fall on the floor too. He stepped out of his shoes and again, pulled her in a tight embrace. Then he lifted her and carried her to the bed.

Their lovemaking was the most sensuous and tender each had experienced in a long time. Both discovering a brand new world, yet strangely familiar, together.

They didn't need words.

All they had to say, they put it in their kisses and attentions to the other's body, finally acknowledging the evidence, that they were made for one another, that it had always been this way, and that it always would be.

Years of fierce struggle had come to an end for Max, and like the Phoenix rising from its ashes, a door had burst opened in his heart, leading him to a new life and a new happiness: Fran loved him and he loved her back for all she was worth, and he intended to spend his entire life proving her so…
