The Fifth Wheel- Alternate Ending

"I’m sorry, Chandler, but I have a promised to go out with a friend today, so I’m sorry to say the answer is no." CC says to a disappointed Chandler while looking to see Fran’s reaction.

"Well, alright…maybe some other time?" Chandler asks hopefully.

"Maybe…" lies CC.

"Alright, I’ll be leaving now, then. Good bye." Chandler says turning towards the door and leaving. Fran rushes up to CC.

"You really didn’t have to do that just for me!" Fran says surprised by CC’s actions. CC grins.

"Well, then why didn’t you stop me!" CC says laughing. Fran laughs, too. "What’d you say we go out to a nice club for some drinks and fun?" CC Suggests. Fran nods smiling.

They leave in a cab chatting the whole way to the bar. They both get out of the car, CC holding the car door open for Fran and closing it behind her. They enter the bar and sit on two bar stools next to each other.

"A Jack Daniels and a…what do you want, I’m treating?" CC says looking over to Fran.

"I’ll have a Pina Colada." Fran says looking down at the bar counter.

"And a Pina Colada!" CC shouts to the bartender.

"Here you are, ladies." He says handing each of them their respective drink. CC takes a sip of her drink and looks over to Fran. She looks sad or at least distracted.

"Fran? You ok?" CC asks putting her hand on Fran’s shoulder.

"Oh what…yes I’m fine. Just enjoying the independent life!" Fran says forcing a smile raising her glass. She and CC clink their glasses together.

"Cheers!" they say in unison. They drink down several gulps of their drinks and set them onto the table.

"Are you sure?" CC asks again.

"Yes…" Fran says drinking the last of her drink and ordering another.

"Ok…" CC looks down at her drink. ‘Why does she keep lying to me! There is obviously something wrong…maybe I can cheer her up somehow.’ CC thinks. CC looks up and sees Fran sadly gazing into her empty cup. The DJ starts babbling about something and a new song comes on.

"Hey, Fran, how about we dance. There is a great song on now!" CC says smiling, getting up, and taking Fran by the hand. She drags Fran out to the dance floor giving her no time to protest. They move to the middle of the dance floor and CC begins to dance grabbing Fran and forcing her to dance, too. CC is smiling and soon Fran is smiling, too. They dance in the middle of the dance floor together ignoring any men who approach them to dance, remaining loyal to their promise.

They danced the whole night only stopping to have drinks. They were having a blast together. CC was getting a little drunk, but Fran was keeping her head.

"Last Call!" the bartender yells to the crowd as the music stops.

"We really should be getting back now, Nannyfine, we told butler boy we’d be back at nine…it’s really late." CC says really feeling the affects of the alcohol now.

"Yeah, you’re right. I’ll call a cab." Fran says. She was not nearly as drunk as CC having had far less drinks than her. Fran placesCC on a bar stool and goes to the pay phone in the bar to call for a cab.

Meanwhile, Maxwell and Niles are sitting in the Sheffield living room nervously awaiting the phone to ring or a knock at the door. CC and Fran had told them they’d be back at nine and nice thirty at the latest. Now it was midnight. Niles had gone to alert Maxwell at eleven because it was getting really late and neither of them had arrived or called. So Maxwell and Niles sat in the living awaiting their arrival or call discussing what could have happened.

They leave together in the cab with Fran nearly carrying CC. CC had her head on Fran’s shoulder and her arms wrapped around her the whole ride only letting go when they arrived at the Sheffield mansion. All the lights were out except for a dim light in the living room. They made their way up the stairs leading to the house while Fran searched for her house key. They stopped at the door with Fran still searching for the key.

"Do you like me?" CC loudly asks Fran with her head tilted to one side.

"Of course! You’re my friend." Fran says not looking up from her purse.

"Do you…love me?" CC says. Fran looks up seeing that CC is completely serious. CC leans in and kisses Fran. Fran drops her purse the ground spilling it’s contents on the ground. CC wraps her arms around Fran still kissing her. Fran does not draw back, but instead wraps her arms around CC.

"I think I heard CC outside!" Niles says jumping up from his seat.

"Me, too! And I am almost certain I heard Fran." Maxwell says getting up. They both walk to the door and Niles opens it.

"Oh my god." Maxwell says. Niles is completely speechless. They find CC holding Fran up against the gate to the side of the door French kissing her and groping her.

"CC?! Fran?!" Niles blurts out. Fran has to push CC off her for her to notice they’ve been walked in on. CC smirks putting on hand on her hip. Lipstick is smeared on her neck and face and it’s the color of Fran’s. Fran, too, has lipstick on her neck and face.

"What’s going on here?!" Maxwell yells.

"Just a good night kiss." CC says.
