CC hadn’t really given a nanny much thought. She didn’t really care either way, but that changed when she saw the tightly clad nanny-mistress he had hired.
It was around noon and Maxwell and CC were working together in his office. She was on the couch with her legs bent and her back leaning against the couch’s armrest. CC eyed him over contemplating the various ways she could win him over. She chewed on her pen trying to think of new ideas; with the nanny she would actually have competition. That brought her thinking towards the nanny. ‘Fran Fine…Nannyfine.’ She thought to herself chewing on the pen a bit more. Her thoughts stopped coming in words and started in images, images of Fran and her physical assets.
Maxwell looked up seeing his associate dreamily knawing on her pen staring out into space. She wasn’t even staring in his direction either like she usually did.
"CC?" Maxwell said suspiciously.
"Huh, oh, what?" she gasped.
"You are chewing on your pen." He said pointing to her hand.
"Oh, yes." She said still holding the pen to her bottom lip.
"You don’t want to get ink on your suit." He said in a matter-of-factly tone.
"Yes, ok. Thank you Maxwell." Said CC with remnants of her previous thoughts still rattling around in her head. As there conversation ended a knock at the office door was heard.
"Come in." Maxwell answered. The door opened and closed and in came Fran. CC’s mind slowed as she entered. Fran’s long legs gracefully moved in black high heels across the room. With a flick of her hand her hair bounced and light hit it sending it into a frenzy of black brown hues. CC eyed Fran as she promptly sat on Maxwell’s desk and began to talk with him. Her mind when numb as Fran talked to Maxwell, but CC snapped out of it as Maxwell’s voice chimed in with her name.
"CC?" he called.
"Yes?" she answered.
"Fran needs someone accompany her while she picks out a dress for Niles’ surprise birthday party. Could you go with her? God knows Niles can’t, I can’t and Val is sick. So will you, please?"
"Sure!" CC said trying her hardest to hide her enthusiasm. Fran looked at her suspiciously; CC hadn’t even put up a fight.
"I’ll call the limo, it’ll be here in five minutes, just tell the driver where you want to go." Maxwell instructed. CC and Fran got their purses and coats and waited by the door for the limo to arrive.
Beep, Beep!
They proceeded outside as CC ogled Fran the whole time. They sat down next to each other in the back of the black stretch limo with CC smiling nervously the whole time.
"You should pick the store, I suppose." CC suggested still with her nervous smile broadly stretched across her face.
"To the Mall parking lot park, close to the mall entrance that’s nearest to Low Mann’s, please!" Fran said happily.
‘What’s wrong with Babcock? She is acting really weird!’ Fran thought to herself as she too began to smile nervously. CC couldn’t help but look at Fran’s legs in her short skirt. She tried to make sure she wouldn’t be noticed.
"Well, uh, how are you doing Miss Babcock?" Fran said nervously.
"Fine…I guess and you? Please call me CC; you don’t need to call me Miss Babcock." CC said with a smile. Fran nodded.
"I’m doing ok." Fran said not fully telling the truth. Maxwell could be so insensitive to her sometimes. He wouldn’t even acknowledge her advances. It made her feel unwanted and ugly. CC’s predicament was almost exactly the same, but now she was somewhat preoccupied with someone she could perhaps attain? Soon after many long awkward silences they arrived at the mall. They both exited the vehicle and entered the building. It was kind of busy, but not too busy.
"You mind if we stop at a few other stores before we go to Low Mann’s?" CC asked.
"Sure that’d be fine. I’m just thrilled to be out of the house!" Fran said.
"Ok sounds great! Let’s stop here first!" CC said pulling Fran by the hand to a nearby store, which was a "fancy clothes" store that had beautiful party gowns hanging in the window.
"Oh god they’re beautiful…I wish I could afford one." Fran said eyeing the dresses. CC looked in her direction sympathetically; she could see the want in Fran’s eyes.
"I could buy you one?" CC said hoping for her to say yes.
"Really?" Fran’s eyes lit up. "That would be so nice of you. Are you sure it’s ok?"
"It’s fine, trust me. Just think of it as an early birthday present!" CC said smiling a real compassionate smile now. "Pick out anything you like, just remember only one dress. I’ve gotten carried away more than once in this store!" Fran’s mouth dropped open as she found her perfect dress. It was on a mannequin in the middle of the store. It was a velvety dark red floor length gown. It had no straps and the bottom was rippled with folds.
"I think I’ve found my dress!" Fran gasped still in awe of it.
"Try it on and if you still want it, we’ll ring it up!" CC said waving in a store clerk to get the dress off of the mannequin. He took it down and delicately handed it to CC. ‘God it’s so soft’ she thought. CC tilted her head in the direction of the changing rooms signaling Fran to follow. The store was nearly empty so there was no shortage of dressing rooms. CC handed Fran the dress. Fran went into a dressing room and CC sat on a bench near it. Fran soon exited it and closed the door behind her.
The blood red gown wrapped beautifully around Fran’s voluptuous curves making CC’s mouth drop open.
"You look gorgeous!" CC said. Fran didn’t know how much she really truly meant it, though. CC looked her up and down lustfully.
"Thank you." Fran said with a radiant smile. She hadn’t noticed CC’s lustful gaze because she wasn’t used to it coming from another woman. "Are you going to buy one for yourself? Thanks again so much for the dress, though, CC! I really do appreciate it!"
"I already have mine at home and really it’s absolutely no problem. We’ll need to pay for it, now, so change out of it." CC said grinning. Fran went back in the dressing room and changed. CC couldn’t help but look at Fran’s bare legs under the door. Fran got dressed in her old clothes, met up with CC again, and they paid for the dress.
"I already have shoes that’ll go with this, so we can leave, that is if you don’t have anywhere you need to shop?" Fran said.
"No I don’t need to stop anywhere." CC said walking a foot or so behind Fran watching her every move.
Later that evening at CC’s apartment after CC and Fran had returned to the Sheffield mansion and gone their separate ways CC was getting dressed for the party.
She slipped into her gown and into her shoes. She went into the bathroom and put on her makeup on and sprayed herself with some of her best perfume. She then went and waited by her telephone with Niles’ present in her lap; just how they planned it. She smiled as she looked down at the present she got for Niles’. She actually put a lot of thought into it. She listened to what he talked about with Fran so she could get ideas and she finally got one!
Ring, Ring!
CC quickly answered the phone. She was so happy to actually going to the Sheffield mansion on something other than business!
"CC Babcock speaking." She answered.
"Hey CC! It’s Fran? It’s time for you to come over. We sent Niles out to get some milk and soda so he’ll be gone awhile. It’s all set up so hurry on over!" Fran said cheerily.
"Ok, Fran. I’ll be over in a few. Bye." CC quickly said. CC rushed out her apartment with the gift only slowing down only to grab her keys. She soon arrived, knocking three times on the door quickly so they’d know it was her, and whistling. Fran and Maxwell greeted her and rushed her inside. Maxwell and Fran couldn’t see CC’s dress in the dim light of the house, but they could tell it was a very dark colored dress.
"Put your gift over on the table in the kitchen and find a hiding spot!" Fran instructed. CC nodded heading towards the kitchen. She set her gift down and returned to the living room. She walked over to Fran’s hiding space, which was by the sofa, and kneeled next to her.
"What if he tries to come into the back door?" CC asked.
"Oh, we got that covered. We flipped the latch that he won’t be able to unlock from the outside. He’ll have to come to the front."
"Oh, ok." CC said.
Fran and CC kneeled there for a while waiting for Niles. CC looked at Fran in the dim light. ‘God she looks beautiful…especially in that dress’ CC thought.
"He’ll be here any minute." Fran said optimistically and then they heard a key turning in the front door and the door opening. That was Gracie’s queue. She flipped the lights and everyone jumped up.
"Surprise!!!" everyone shouted in unison. Niles’ truly looked surprised. He dropped the soda and milk he was carrying.
"Oh my god" Niles said grinning. "This truly is a surprise. I thought you all forgot. Not even Miss Fine mentioned it! I should’ve known!" It was just then when he caught sight of CC. ‘Oh god she’s gorgeous! All dressed up for me, maybe?’ he thought hopefully. Her pitch-black gown wrapped around her body beautifully. It looked very silky and soft. It had two thin straps and the gown dragged on the floor only a little because of it’s length. Her hair was wrapped tightly up in a bun and her lipstick was a vibrant red. Gracie picked up the soda and milk and put it in the kitchen. Soon everyone had gathered in around him all saying "Happy Birthday!" and patting him on the back, except CC. She stayed on the sidelines of it all.
The room was almost over decorated for the occasion. Balloons and streamers were everywhere along with "Happy Birthday!" banners. Soon all the children left the room; as planned, but they then all returned from the kitchen carrying a lavishly decorated cake as tall as Gracie.
"Wow." Niles said. The children set it on the coffee table and Fran lit the candles.
"Hit the lights Gracie!" Fran commanded. The lights went out and everyone sat around the cake. Niles sat right in front of the cake. Niles gazed into the flames of the candles. There were so many candles; one hundred at least. He could see the person across from him. It was CC. ‘God she looks great…she looks absolutely gorgeous in this candlelight.’ Niles thought
"Make a wish!" Maxwell shouted happily. Niles took a deep breath.
‘I wish she was mine.’ Niles thought as he blew out one section of candles and then another with the children occasionally helping him out. Soon Gracie flicked the lights back on and said, "Cake time!" Niles was still looking longingly across the table at CC even though the cake blocked most of his view. Although he looked only at her she wasn’t looking at him. Her eyes gazed only upon Fran, who sat next to her. Everyone was laughing and talking. Maxwell started to cut the cake. Everyone was talking except CC and she started to notice how many people there actually were. Val, Fran’s Mother, Niles’ Father and Mother, Maxwell’s Mother and Father, and many other people she didn’t know; no wonder they had gotten such a large cake. Soon everyone spread out away from the cake carrying his or her own plate and fork. CC didn’t like being in the center of the room by the cake so she went and sat on a chair in a corner. She eyed the crowd; they were all dressed formally and some were dancing to the up-beat music that was now playing. CC didn’t have anyone to "charm" into funding a play for Maxwell so she felt kind of out of place. She didn’t really have anyone to talk to except Fran. She got up to go find her, but just as she did so Niles walked up to her.
"Did they tell you it was a costume party because I can see you spent a lot on this realistic old hag costume." Niles said. CC’s eyes narrowed.
"Shut it dust buster. I have business to attend to." CC said angrily.
"Just don’t do your business on the rug like last time. Those stains are so hard to get out!" Niles said smiling. CC pushed him out of her way and proceeded to search the room for Miss Fine. ‘Why did she quit so early? I know she loves to fight with me! Maybe I should have tried to be nice?" Niles thought as his smile faded.
‘Where is she?’ CC thought as her search took longer than expected. She had been searching for fifteen minutes now! She gave up after another five minutes and sat outside the guest bedroom sipping some whine she had picked up somewhere along the way. She sat cross-legged on the floor not caring what happened to her expensive dress with her head in one hand and the half empty wine glass in the other. She could hear the constant but gentle murmur of voices mixed with laughter and music. Suddenly she heard something closer...foot steps. ‘Who’s walking over here? Great! Maybe it’s Niles to bother me some more! Wait…that sounds like high heels?" CC thought as the person rounded the corner to her left.
It was Fran. Her cheeks were red and it was overwhelmingly obvious that she had been crying. CC felt immediate concern for her friend, which was the only one she really had right now.
"Fran…?" she said as she rose up from where she had been sitting. "Are you ok?" Fran looked up in surprise. Seeing CC only made her break down even more.
"Fran?!" CC said with mounting concern as she walked over to her. CC placed her arm around Fran and dried the tears from under her eyes. "What’s wrong? Please tell me." CC said looking into Fran’s watery eyes.
"I…he…Mr.Sheiffeild…" was all Fran managed to blurt out in-between sobs.
"It’s ok. You tell me when you’re good and ready, all right? We’ll just sit down and you can cry all you want." CC said rubbing Fran’s back. CC looked around for someplace to sit, but couldn’t see any chairs or couches. She then glanced in the direction where she had sat, which was the guest room and it’s the door was open. CC led Fran through the door closing it behind them and sat down on the bed with her. CC rubbed Fran’s back not saying anything because she didn’t know what to say. They sat there for a few minutes before Fran clamed down enough to talk. CC looked intently into Fran’s eyes when Fran rose her head to speak.
"He…Mr.Sheiffield, he…well, we were flirting and I thought it was going really well. It seemed like he was finally coming around. Then he left to get some punch. When he didn’t come back for a while I went to look for him. I found him kissing some bimbo in the kitchen. I can’t believe he did this!" Fran said angrily staring down at the floor.
"…I see…well, maybe you’ll find someone else. Such a beautiful, caring, loving, and sexy woman like you could have anyone she wanted." CC hesitated at her last comment. Fran looked up at her in confusion.
‘Did CC say sexy? That I could have anyone?" Fran thought to herself as looked over the blonde with the intensifying gaze next to her. CC lustfully looked over the woman next to her.
‘CC is a lesbian?!’ Fran thought as she noticed the familiar gaze she had only before gotten from men. CC leaned in pushing Fran onto the bed and kissing her without giving Fran a way to avoid it. Fran was in complete shock, but surprisingly didn’t stop CC’s advances. CC wrapped her arms around Fran and French kissed her on the bed.
Just then the door creaked open. "Fran?" Maxwell said. "CC?!" Maxwell couldn’t believe what he was seeing; his business associate and nanny making out on his guest bedroom bed. Maxwell wasn’t the only one witnessing this; Niles, Fran’s Mother, the children, and several other people were standing behind him. When Fran had run off after seeing him kissing that woman he had gone off to look for her to explain, but now Fran and CC had something to explain.
The End
