Ok, I know that it's a bit late. But, after reading the Virtual Seven version of Niles and CC's wedding, I decided to write my own version of the wedding, starting a couple days before the wedding actually happened. I would love to know what people think of it so please e-mail me with positive or negative critiscm, or just to gab about "The Nanny"!

I Do…Love You

CC grasped the brush and pulled it through her long blond hair.

"One, two, three," she counted to herself as the comb brushed through the strands of both blond and silver hair. Looking around their spacious bedroom, CC realized just how far she had come compared to five months ago…

…Five months ago today, she had been walking out of a tin shed on display at Wal-Mart, smoothing her hair back into place and buttoning her blouse. Thoroughly exhausted, but to satisfied to care, she had skipped merrily out of the store and had hopped into the waiting limousine…

CC smiled and stopped her brushing to run a hand over her growing abdomen. Who would have guessed that that meeting would have given her something she could only dream about? Leave it to the only man in your life to give it to you, the man in the shadows…your best friend.

She looked up at the door, hoping to see him there, but with no such luck.

Resuming her routine, she began to count, "fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen,"

"Nineteen, twenty, twenty-one,"

Looking up, she saw him. His face was glowing and his blue eyes sparkled with joy. Ever since they had moved to California, he had been overflowing with happiness. She knew the reason well enough too. It wasn’t any secret to either one of them.

He sat down next to her and began to unbutton his shirt. God he was handsome. How could she not have noticed it from the beginning? She rested her head on his shoulder and felt his soft fingers delicately pat her cheek.

"Niles," CC murmured, "I’ve been thinking,"

"Yes CC."

"About the baby,"

His voice became tender and she could see the sides of his mouth curl into a smile. "Yes,"

"It needs a name." She lifted her head instinctively as he got up and headed for the bathroom.

"Or at least a nickname. I feel uncomfortable calling it ‘It’," Niles called from behind the door. "After all, it is our child. I just wish that we could know what sex it is."

CC rolled her eyes. She didn’t want to know.

She tried to sit up a little more, but found that it was hopeless and stayed in the same leaning position. Though she loved her baby dearly, (It would probably the only one she would ever have.) it would be so uncomfortable to lug him or her around for four more months.

Rolling out of bed, CC waddled over to her green leather couch. She had begged Maxwell for it and with it in their bedroom, she had been able to live out her wildest fantasy: not working. Her hulk sunk into the rich leather and it was cooling to her overheated body. She breathed out a sigh of relief.

Niles, dressed in robe and pajama bottoms, came into the quiet room and picked up his pipe from the nightstand. He lit a match and set it on the tobacco.

CC could smell the sweet smell of nicotine smoking out of her husband’s pipe. She suppressed an urge to get up and snatch it from his hands. Instead, she turned her head into the thick leather, which surprisingly blocked the aroma from her nostrils.

"Sweetie," Niles’ voice broke her serenity.

She pressed her nose all the more further into the material. "I’m not answering until you put out that thing, it’s stinking up the place."

Niles grinned, "I would love to, but unfortunately I am bound to it by New York Law."

CC raised herself from the couch, with a questioning look played on her face. Then the bad joke hit her.

"If I remember correctly, I used that same zinger on you what…?"

"Four and a half years ago, pet."

"See, I knew you would remember that…an elephant never forgets." She sneered as she strolled over to him.

Niles laughed in a mocking movement of his head. "I used that on you three and a half years ago."

Sitting near his feet, she said, "Actually it was six months ago."

Niles smiled simply. "Now, who’s the elephant. Besides, you certainly have the figure for it."

CC scooted up the edge of the bed until she was looking into his brilliant blue eyes. "Oh and like you don’t." she breathed heavily.

He smiled and carefully hugged her, careful of her tummy. Drawing away, she kissed him softly, then pulled her legs up onto the bed. He pulled the rest of her heavy hulk into his arms and set her down carefully next to him. Running his hand lightly over his wife’s body, Niles marveled at her beauty. He loved her more than life itself, for if there wasn’t any CC Babcock, life wouldn’t be worth living.

Niles pulled out the pipe and set it down on the table before turning the light out. As he slid back under the sheets, CC’s snores told him that it was time to sleep. He noticed that her lamp was still on.

With a quiet groan, he got back up and walked around the bed to his wife’s night table and bent down to click the light off. He noticed a folded piece of manila colored paper tucked haphazardly underneath his picture. Carefully, he pulled it out and opened it to find different names written in her beautiful handwriting:

Caroline Claire, Christina Claire, Chastity Claire…?

Niles smiled. She knew his fondness towards her middle name. Even though she pretended the baby was a hassle, he could see right through her. CC loved her or him just as much as she did Niles. Which, if Niles thought about it for awhile accounted for something.

Then he noticed something. All of the names she had written were girl names. He could feel his heart melt. They had so many things in common; now they both wanted a little girl.

CC flinched. What the hell was the light doing on? Normally she was very tolerant of Niles’ habit of reading late at night. After a day of listening to cast auditions, all she wanted was rest. (Not to mention lying down and getting the weight off her hips.)

She sat up and winced at a pulled back muscle. Noticing Niles standing, frozen in time next to her table. He looked up and caught her confused gaze.

"What the hell are you doing up so late?" She screeched, half awake.

He continued to wear his elated grin as he answered her. "Just being happy that I’m living with the sweetest woman on the face of the earth."

CC ran her tongue over her teeth behind closed lips. "We’re married not five months and already you are cheating on me? Where do you keep her, in the closet?" She hissed in a mocking tone, scooting closer to where he stood.

She peeked over his shoulder and read the names. Then, snatched it from his grasp. "I hid that!"

Niles sat down next to her and traced her chin with a finger. "Apparently you didn’t do a very good job."

CC looked down at the paper. "I was going to show you it eventually. I wanted to finish the list before you got a look at them. I’m five months pregnant for god sakes! And I haven’t even looked at the room where the nursery is going to be! What kind of mother am I?" She pouted.

He circled her shoulders with his arms and pressed his mouth softly to hers. Drawing away, he murmured, "A very busy one that just needs to relax a little."

She smiled at his affection, then pulled him back to her. "You’re too good for me. Hate you." CC purred before his mouth once again came to hers. She threw her arms around his neck and laughed as they both fell back into the bed.

CC awoke to the sound of fresh coffee being poured into a cup. She slid out of bed and made her way to the bathroom.

A few minutes later, she came out in her crimson bathrobe with the powder white trim. After selecting an accommodating green blazer/skirt outfit, she walked out of their bedroom and opened the corresponding closet to get her purse. As she closed the door, she noticed the bright spacious room opposite theirs. CC walked across the hall into what would be the nursery. She walked to the center of the room and gazed out of the glistening bay window to the Mansion that blocked the view. Looking around, reality suddenly hit her. She, CC Babcock, was going to have a baby, and raise it with Niles. Life was so strange.

The aroma of coffee once again enticed her nostrils and with one more glance, came down the stairs.

"Hello, hello!" She cheerfully announced.

"Good morning my sweet angel." Niles greeted her, giving her a long kiss.

CC put her hands on her hips. "Cut the crap, I know what you want to say to me; my day wouldn’t be complete without a good zinger. So just say it!"

Niles grinned and said simply. "Ok. I’m going to marry you again in four days. I want out."

CC eyed him suspiciously. "Yawn. You can do better. I’ll even be very easy for you."

He maintained his composure. "Wouldn’t be the first time, Whore of Hollywood."

CC acted like nothing had happened. "What happened to Bitch of Broadway?"

Niles gestured in a grand sweep to everything in the dining room. "We’re in California and you are no longer a Broadway producer."

She let him seat her down and push her chair in to a comfortable distance. Taking a cup of decaffeinated coffee, she insisted, "I’m a sitcom producer, I still do the same job."

Sitting down, Niles quipped, "What? Like filing papers and putting the little sticky notes on those piles of papers?"

"No. Like making the help’s life a living hell."

"Oh, so that’s the type of angel you are."

"I’m the perfect match to a Dirt Devil."

Niles shook his head in disbelief. She still had it.

CC took a sip of her orange juice and set it down. He was pretty quiet this morning, very unlike him.

"Have you called your mother recently?" She asked intently.

Niles looked up from his eggs. "Yes, she can’t wait to meet you, neither can my father. They’ll be arriving on Monday."

CC just about choked on her bacon. "What!?"

Immediately coming to her side, he looked at her through concerned eyes. "You aren’t nervous, are you?"

"Well, yeah! They’re going to hate me! Just like their son."

He put a comforting arm around her shoulders. "Why would they?"

"I-I don’t know! They just have to."

Niles shook his head. "You always downplay yourself. Don’t worry, they don’t care about rank or hierarchy. Unlike your parents, they don’t care that I married out of my class. I married out of love. I love you."

CC looked into his eyes and smiled. He was too good for her.

She got up with some assistance from her husband. Then, hand-in-hand, they walked through the gardens that surrounded the main Mansion.

As Gracie Sheffield came down the stairs and turned the corner to the kitchen, Niles and CC came through the door arm in arm. They kissed tentatively, then departed to their separate ways.

Niles started preparing breakfast and took great pleasure in teaching Gracie the ‘Ways of the Egg’.

Cradling a twin, Fran and Max came down the stairs a few moments later and took their seats in the dining room. CC joined them once again, but only to talk with Max about the show.

"So, Miss Babcock, have a wedding dress yet?" Fran asked as Niles set down her plate of bacon and eggs. She proceeded to try to feed Jonah his bottle, but his fussiness caused her to give up and seat him in his highchair next to her seat.

CC smiled sweetly, and answered, "Why yes," she walked over to Fran and handed her the magazine cutout of the designer gown she had placed an order for. Fran gasped at its beauty. It was ivory white and trimmed with a shiny silver lace. The collar was a strip of pure silk that flowed along the model’s neckline like liquid. It was then tight around the chest, but again flowed out over the body. And for CC’s very pregnant figure, it would fit nicely and flatteringly.

She handed the clip back to her friend then, picked up Eve from Max’s hold and tried to feed her as she had Jonah.

CC slipped it back in her blazer pocket and went back to her place beside Maxwell.

He looked up and said, "CC, do sit down. You must be tired from standing so long, with the extra weight and all."

Niles walked by and mumbled, "That and she is very exhausted because of last night."

CC glared at him. "Don’t pay any attention to my significant other. I can’t sit because; well it’s embarrassing."

Maxwell gave her a questioning look. "Whatever do you mean CC?"

Fran knew what her friend was getting at. "Sweetie," she said as she patted his hand, "Remember how I was when I reached my second trimester…?"

"Oh, carry on."

Fran finished chewing, then took the babies in her arms and went into the family room, followed shortly by Gracie. CC left, bound for the living room.

Max wiped his mouth with his napkin, then patted Niles’ back as he passed by with a tray of butter cookies.

"Another fine morning, hey Niles?"

"Only if you have to eat one breakfast instead of making two, sir."

Maxwell pointed to the tray questioningly. "CC?"

"No, Mrs. Sheffield. Ms. Toriello hasn’t called yet."

"That’s too bad. I’ll see if I can fly her and Fred out for Christmas. Or better yet, your wedding!"

"Goodie, sir."

Max strolled off down the hall and into his office. CC reappeared in the kitchen and beckoned for Niles to sit with her.

"Niles, I was thinking about the baby."

His eyes grew a softer shade of blue. "Yes."

"How about Caro,"

"-line Claire?" he finished for her.

CC looked at him then realized it. "That’s right, you know every name that he or she could end up with."

He chuckled. "I wouldn’t be a very good husband if I didn’t know everything about you."

"So, do you like the name?"

Niles leaned back. "Well, I like the idea a using your middle name if it is a girl. But what if it isn’t?"

"Well, we’ll just use your name, ‘Andrew’ Michael instead."

"Why Michael?"

CC thought for a moment. "I don’t know, I just like it."

"But if it is a girl, then it will be something Claire. Right?"

She smiled, "Actually it would be something with a c. I’ve kind of fancied my child having the nickname of CC, as I have."

"Ok. Girl CC, boy AM."

"How about Christopher Charles?"

Niles sighed, "Make up your mind!"

CC shot him a hurt look. "This is a big decision Niles. We need to come up with an agreement, not an argument. I won’t be able to rest without knowing what name we are both going to call our little baby."

"Did I just hear a little sensitivity in the voice of CC Babcock?"

CC flinched. "Yeah. Scary huh?"

Niles shook his head in bewilderment. "You’re telling me."

"I never thought that I would be talking about this matter to you of all people." She breathed sexily, hoping to cover up the pessimism in her voice.

Niles frowned. "And why not? I always have."

CC became intrigued. "Really? You’ve wanted me all these years?"

He leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. "Duh." He whispered seductively and kissed her once more. How he loved his fiery wench. Though she could be soft and gentle as a kitten at times. Those times were reserved for his enjoyment only.

She pulled away unexpectedly.

"Sorry Butler-Boy, as much as I want to just stay here and swap saliva with you for awhile, I have to get to work."

Ah, how he loved her so.

"Niles,"

He turned to find Fran, standing in the doorway. She looked beat after a morning with the twins, and immediately felt some sympathy for his friend.

"Make me some coffee. And put away that decaffeinated can sitting on the counta’. I will not drink anything with less than two hundred grams of pure, addictive caffeine."

He chuckled quietly to himself. "I take it that Jonah and Evie took advantage of their mother’s hospitality today."

Fran pulled a chair out and sat down at the table. "And how." She huffed.

"They’re asleep now, I gather?" he asked, setting down a giant mug of black coffee.

Fran nodded sleepily. "And not a moment too soon."

Niles smiled. "Just think, they haven’t even reached their terrible twos yet!"

She mockingly finished the laughing for him. "Just think, you will have to go through the same thing in less than a year!"

Niles beamed proudly. "Yes, but I will only have one…not two."

"You don’t know for sure."

"Still, we are both strong and we can cope with anything." He finished, loading up the silver serving tray with tea and sandwiches. "How do you think we were able to survive all these years at each other’s throats? And for the last couple years, literally?" He added as he started to walk out of the kitchen, lunch for the two business partners in hand.

CC smiled quickly as he entered the highly intense room. CC was seated on her at her new working station, across the room from Maxwell. She felt like the stereotypical schoolgirl when her crush was near. For some reason, she didn’t care that much at the moment. Her mind was racing to find a good hit to knock him with.

He set down the tray, and she eyed his body intimately. He turned around and stood next to her.

"What are you doing here? Yenta central is in the kitchen at the moment." She spat out.

Niles smiled his big grin. "I was just bringing you something to munch on." He unveiled a hidden dish piled to the top with BBQ wings. "If you aren’t satisfied, I can go and get some more."

CC found the joke distasteful. "And who am I but your wife to know when I’m not satisfied with something that you have to offer."

Niles gripped the couch’s arm and stared her straight in her dancing blue eyes. "Whore of Hollywood."

Max looked up from his paperwork, eyeing the very much in love couple. He hadn’t heard that name before.

"Bell-Boy."

Maxwell nodded and continued with the resume that he was thumbing through. A classic ‘Niles/CC’ zinger; a normal word that his ears had heard before.

"Knotzi in Navy."

"Dirt Devil."

"Brunette."

CC shrugged. He needed something new and better than just ‘Brunette’. "Old Maid."

Niles rolled his eyes and stifled a chuckle. She needed something new and better than just ‘Old Maid.’ "Moby."

CC was a bit taken aback. He actually came up with something better. "Husky Help."

Niles nodded. His CC had come up with something new.

Fran walked in and hopped up on the edge of her husband’s desk. "Sweetie, I have to take the kids shopping."

Max leaned back in his chair. He had heard this a million times. "Have to or there’s a sale at Sears or Mervyns?"

Fran smiled, "Oh, you know me like a book!"

"I turn the pages every night."

CC and Niles looked at each other. Niles looked for a reaction in his wife’s face to the implicit sexual conversation between their employers. When she grinned and said, "Hate you," he knew that her obsession with Max had finally ended. (Niles also knew it when she pulled him down next to her and stuck a very familiar tongue down his throat.)

She twined her arms around his neck and experienced the intimate pleasure that came with each of his returning kisses.

Fran and Max both stared at the couple, partially in awe, and partially in surprise. They rarely, if ever showed their blatant affection for each other during work hours. Now, even Fran, open to everything that happened around her, was finding the scene before them something hard to swallow.

Clearing his throat, Max got the attention of his two friends.

Niles, pulling away from CC’s embrace, glared evilly down at his wife and left the room.

CC, pouting at the interruption, turned on Maxwell, but was shot down before she could say a word.

"Now CC, this is a place of business, not a car parked at the local make-out point! What I’m saying is, no matter how happy I am for you two, try to keep your hormones under control."

CC, clearly disappointed, grumbled, "Alright."

Fran again turned to her own husband, shrugging off what had just happened. "So," she started her case with a smile. "Can I take the merced- the kids shopping?"

Max faked a frown and looked down at the floor. He looked past his wife to CC, sadly returning to her work. Looking back up at Fran, a grin spread wide over his lips. "Why sure darling,"

Fran hopped off the desktop and threw her arms around her husband’s neck. She tilted her head, and pushed her mouth in to his. Drawing away, she checked Maxwell’s expression to make sure that the shopping trip was still a go.

Though he looked like a deer caught in the headlights, Max was able to stutter the words, "On one-one con-condition…"

His wife’s happiness faded.

"That you take CC with you."

Both CC and Fran looked up startled that the other’s name should appear in the same context. CC immediately stood up, forgetting about the weight that she carried. She crossed the room and slammed a fist on her partner’s desk.

"Maxwell, how could you think of something that," she fought to find a different word to use in place of the one that had almost slipped past her lips. "Outrageous! I can’t go with Nanny Fine because," her mind raced again. "I-I have too much work to do. We ALL know that those papers just don’t file themselves!"

"She’s right about that, sir!" Niles voice etched itself into the conversation with the help of the intercom.

CC glared down at the little brown box that acted as a paperweight on Maxwell’s desk. She loved that man dearly, but hell, how much could a moody wife handle in a day? Niles’ voice became softer, knowing that his wife would have her ear to the intercom.

"Nice save Sweetie."

CC half-smiled at his compliment. It wasn’t that often that she heard a compliment from his lips that wasn’t sexually related.

Maxwell leaned down and pushed the button down on the box. "That will be quite enough out of you Niles."

CC crossed her arms in front of her chest and let out a chuckle. She leaned down and said, "You can never get enough out of him!"

"Ha, ha, ha." Niles answered in monotone.

Fran also crossed her arms. "Can we please get back on the subject!"

They all stared.

"Good. Now, Max what was this idea of yours for me and CC to go shopping?"

CC kept her arms crossed and also looked at him as Fran had. "Yes, Maxwell. I would also like to know!"

Max leaned back against his chair and settled back. "CC, you need to get started on the Nursery, am I right?"

CC reluctantly answered, "Yes."

"And Fran, you’ve redecorated a kitchen and the twins’ room. Need I say more?"

CC and Fran looked at each other. What could he be thinking?

"What could he have been thinking?" CC started as Fran drove down the Boulevard.

"Who?"

She turned painfully to see Sylvia eating a large cinnamon crawler. Sputtering crumbs as she spoke, she said in her ‘delightful’ Queens accent, "Who?"

CC wiped her face in disgust. "Maxwell! Who else would come up with this brilliant idea? Thomas Edison?"

Sylvia shook her head. "You need to take some Prozac."

"Not to mention a diet pill."

Craning her neck, CC caught sight of Yetta.

Fran reached a hand behind the seat to slap some sense into her grandmother. "Leave her alone Yetta! She’s pregnant," turning around at a red light to set that old lady straight. "And perfectly sane, Ma’.

CC smiled gratefully. "Thanks Nanny Fine."

The light turned green and she pressed her foot on the gas. Fran mumbled under her breath. "She’s just a bit moody, that’s all."

CC turned her head to meet Fran’s profile. "What?!"

"We’re here!" Fran shouted, in order to stop CC’s sudden mood swing. She turned into the Mall’s parking lot.

As they all got out, CC whispered to Fran. "I thought there would only be you, me and the kids. You never mentioned that the last two generations of Fine women would come along!"

Fran waved her hands down. "Oh that’s just something I tell Max in order to let me get what I want. All I have to do is mention the children, and I immediately have control."

CC was intrigued. "And the twins?"

Fran smiled, "With your husband and Gracie."

CC faltered at the name. "Who?"

Fran rolled her eyes. "Maggie."

"Yes." CC said with a smile.

Yetta came up behind them and shoved herself between the two women. "Frannie, I just wanted to you know that that blond floozy was with your husband…and the door was closed." She pointed accusingly to CC with a lime green fingernail.

Fran, obviously acquainted with coping with her family’s insanity, hugged her grandmother with a good heart. And as Yetta and Sylvia walked by them, she patted CC’s arm reassuringly.

"She’s really quite harmless. In a few months she won’t even remember who you are!"

CC flinched uncomfortably. "Are you sure that she even does now?"

Fran paused for a minute as if to think about it. She smiled. "No. But she will warm up to you eventually. Don’t worry."

"Who said I was worried?"

The progression made their way up to the giant glass doors and both CC and Fran held a door for the two other women.

Once they were in the bustling shopping Mall, CC immediately found the store directory and pinpointed the nearest Baby Store.

Sylvia shoved herself past CC and pointed excitedly to a delicatessen just down the way. Yetta seconded the motion. Fran shrugged, and they were off.

CC walked abreast of the big-haired woman leading the line of Queen’s ‘princesses’. "You just had a crawler." She pointed out; a bit irritated at the fact Sylvia was being herself.

She stopped and stared at CC. "Your point?"

CC dropped back to the end of the line with Fran. "Don’t even try to stop a Fine from reaching any kind of food." She eyed CC’s figure. "Though you could set up a roadblock with your body alone!"

CC smiled at the good-natured jab. She knew that Nanny Fine was trying to make her feel more comfortable. And she appreciated it.

"Oy! I forgot my shopping list!"

CC shrugged and looked off into the distance. "What? All you have to do is look for a rack labeled the ‘Heidi Fleice’ collection!"

Fran stopped in her Gucci tracks. Then laughed at the joke.

Soon, all had a sandwich in their mouths and CC was actually enjoying herself. All the mothers around her were imparting their maternal knowledge to her.

"Oh, and when they never shut-up, you just leave the room." Yetta said as she threw out the remnants of her Canole.

"Yeah."

"Good one Ma’."

CC put down her BLT. "Doesn’t that just make babies cry even more because they need that attention?"

Yetta stared at her as she sat down. "What ‘babies’? I’m talking about ya’ husband!"

CC took another bite of her sandwich. These were things that she needed to consider…

After they all, (Including Yetta) pulled Sylvia away from the salad bar, CC was able to lead them to "Baby World".

She chose some adorable sheets with red and blue balloons drifting over the fabric. Fran wandered over to the toddler section and held up a mini Fran outfit. CC made a face and continued to go through the infant rack.

Yetta and Sylvia spent the rest of their time in a version of Lover’s Leap. As Fran and CC emerged with bags full of toys, blankets, sheets, draperies, and pacifiers, Yetta and Sylvia came out from the curiously darkened store across the way, their hands full with boxes and bags.

Despite CC’s protests, they stopped at Mervyns, and after a fruitless hour, continued on to California’s version of Loehmans. Fran shrieked happily as she found the perfect little black skirt. CC decided to wait outside and rest her feet.

On the ride home CC slipped into dreamland…

…She awoke when the continuous sound of the engine ceased. Fran shook her shoulder, and repeated her name several times before CC’s eyes fluttered back to life. All the women helped her carry the packages back to the guesthouse and had them put it into the empty room opposite their bedroom. Then, being the hostess that she now was, took the ladies on a tour of her house.

"I must say that I’m impressed Miss Babcock." Sylvia said as she sat down on the couch in the Family Room. "You did a pretty good job making this place livable."

CC felt herself blush; very out of character for her. She found her voice. "Oh, don’t thank me, thank Niles."

Yetta looked confused. "Who’s this Niles?"

Fran smiled, saw the look of utter exhaustion on CC, and started to lead her family out of her friend’s house. She answered Yetta. "That’s her husband, Yeti."

"I thought that he was your husband. Well, that’s just great! I’m living in the middle of a Detergent!"

Sylvia shook her head and corrected her mother. "You mean a Soap, Ma’."

"That’s what I said!"

The door closed and CC happily collapsed into the already warm couch. It didn’t matter that she couldn’t get out of the cushions without assistance. She looked out the window; it was still light out, but was nevertheless getting late. Fran would be seated at the dinner table and Niles would be coming out of the mansion soon. Leaning her head back, CC thought about the day’s events.

Niles called a friendly, "Hello, hello!" From the doorway and waited for a response.

CC raised her head and shouted a firm, "In the family room!"

He rounded the corner and found his beautiful CC sprawled out over the leather couch, her head on her shoulder and a hand protectively covering her tummy. Niles was so taken with her bliss that he even forgot to make some sort of comment about her width.

CC turned her head up and smiled. "Happy your home."

"That makes two of us." Niles said quickly as he crossed the room and knelt to kiss her. Drawing away, CC scooted over and made a space for Niles to sit. She rested her head back down in his lap after he had gotten settled.

He began to stroke her forehead softly. "And what did you do all day?"

CC heaved a sigh. "I spent the afternoon with the Yenta triplets, Eatie, Yeti, and Nanny, Fine."

"You’re kidding? When I came back after you two left, Mr. Sheffield told me that you had gone with the kids and Fran."

CC smiled calmly. "Well, she lied."

Niles let out a chuckle. "Wouldn’t surprise me. She’s come up with some lulus in her career."

"Oh, and I bought a lot of things for the Nursery."

"You?" Niles asked, both surprised and suspicious at the same time. "More sensitivity; I just don’t like it. You’re not the wench I married!"

CC opened her closed eyes in surprise. "Careful, Butler-Boy. I’m in a very good mood right now."

Niles leaned down and tugged on her ear with his lips. "For what?"

CC smiled hungrily as he pulled away. "For this." She reached her arms up around his neck and plowed her mouth into his…

…Niles smiled with satisfaction and reached a hand over to feel his wife’s warm body. When his hand touched nothing but sheet, he sat up and looked around.

Yawning, he got up and shuffled his feet sleepily to the door that was open just a crack. He opened it fully and flinched at the bright light that shone in the room across the hall.

"CC?" He questioned the woman, her back to her husband, standing absentmindedly in the room. "Honey, come back to bed."

She turned around slowly; a little embarrassed that he had found her. CC was completely aware that her cheeks were streaked with tears; a notion that the old CC would have found laughable. And instead of holding all her feelings in like she used to do, her new emotions got the best of her.

"Niles, this-this is just to much for me to handle! I-I can’t do this. I-I just can’t." She cried out, throwing her arms up in the air.

Niles immediately came to her side and wrapped his arms around her trembling body. He held her in a soft embrace as she let both the tears and emotions flow.

"I thought I could handle it, I really did. But I just can’t…I can’t."

"Shh,"

"And I-I."

"CC," he murmured softly in her ear, "Just let it all out."

CC nodded sadly and cried out all that was going on into his chest. She didn’t really know what she had said when Niles responded with a, "Well, that’s completely understandable."

She frowned. "Huh?"

He repeated what she had just said, which seemed incomprehensible to her present state of mind.

"I said that?"

Niles nodded affirmatively.

"Wow, what these hormones do to your line of thought."

He pulled away and looked into her eyes for any recognition. "You feeling better? You know I can’t stand it to see you cry."

CC smiled and sunk into his warm embrace.

Niles started to lead her out of room, when he stopped and brought her close to him. Wrapping his arms tightly around the back of her waist, he could feel the bulge of her pregnancy pressing painfully into his own abdomen.

He rose above it and caught CC off guard with a sudden kiss.

She stared at him in amazement as he pulled away. "What was that for?"

Niles grinned and loosened his hold. "Just being the spontaneous hubby that you deserve."

CC licked her lips hungrily. "’Mind if I try that whole spontaneity thing?" she cooed, twining her arms about his neck.

Niles cocked a suspicious brow. "I don’t know. You being sincere, sensitive, spontaneous? I just don’t like it. You’re becoming unpredictable,"

She looked him in the eye. "So?" She asked haughtily.

"So, being predictable was the only way I could keep you on your toes."

As if on cue, she stepped up onto his feet, all the while maintaining an intimate gaze.

Niles frowned, then unexpectedly dipped her. She laughed and as he brought her back up, noticing just how sexy he was in this lighting.

He smiled, "What are you staring at Love?"

"Oh, just reliving one of our nights alone together, you know, when Maxwell still fantasized about me."

Niles rolled his eyes. "He never liked you! Can’t you get that through your mind woman? Do I need to give you a talking to like I did that one day?"

CC licked her lips, eager to end the conversation. "You mean where you said, and I quote: ‘You are going to spend the rest of your life pining for a man who doesn’t love you and who’s married a woman half your age?’"

Niles turned three shades of red. He looked at her and shifted his weight while looking down at the ground boyishly. "I made that much of an impression on you?"

She squirmed uncomfortably, then smiled wickedly. "You have an ego the size of this whole entire world, you know that?"

"And a feather duster the same size to match."

"Bell Boy."

"Brunette."

"H- oh,"

He tensed up as she looked down at the floor, then stopped his natural urge to help her when she looked back up, a smile spread wide over her face.

"What?" Niles inquired curiously.

"This," she took his hand and brought it to rest on her stomach. "A kick." He shared her proud smile.

"We’ve never had anything like that interrupt us."

"Yeah." She replied, distant.

"What is it?"

CC calmly struggled to get free of his embrace, but with a roll of her eyes, gave up. She decided that she should probably just tell him what had been going through her mind for the past two months.

"Well, your parents are arriving in a few days, and then there’s my Mummy. What will she think of-I mean of us,"

"Being officially married." He finished. "Well, I don’t know about that. But don’t you see that’s part of our new life together. It’s just a new beginning…for the both of us. So your mother doesn’t like me, who cares?"

"But it’s not just that." CC interjected. "I always envisioned myself a trim blond bride."

"You can’t change the way you look unless you want to reschedule the wedding five months from now."

CC sighed again, "Well duh, but in my condition, I’m not going to be the perfect bride. I’m not even that beautiful to begin with."

Niles opened his mouth to comment on that statement, then stopped himself; she was being genuingly serious and he knew that he could drive her insane, (Literally.) by a simple remark.

He looked at her. Who was she kidding? She had the blond, sophisticated look about her. And though the pregnancy had taken its toll on her neck and legs, she was radiant with that maternal glow about her. She was breathtaking, and nothing that she could say could prove her otherwise.

"CC, you are so beautiful. You are never grateful for what you have."

CC rested her head against his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Not true; I am grateful I have you…but I’m not sure my mother will ever be."

"You’ve gone so long without your mother, can’t she give you that same courtesy?"

CC shrugged. "What about your parents?"

"I already told you that they don’t give a damn that I married out of my class."

"No, not that. Do they know about the baby?"

Niles smiled and released her from his grasp. "Yes, and they can’t wait to meet you." He took her hands in his and spread them apart, so he could have a clear view of her. She stepped back and waited for him to say something.

He pulled her comfortably close. "How ‘bout I take tomorrow off. We can stay home, just the two us."

"Um, sounds good already."

"And we can start work on the Nursery; music, overalls, champagne, the whole nine yards."

"Just the two us?"

"No talk of weddings, or parents. Just you, me, and our little one."

CC was touched by his tenderness; not to mention a little aroused.

Niles gazed deeply into her eyes and smiled. He leaned down and placed his lips on hers. They opened up simaltaneously, and the night became a blur…

…CC opened sleepy eyes as Niles brought in a breakfast tray. She was tired, but the prospect of spending the day with her husband immediately woke her up.

She scooted against the headboard lined with pillows as he set the tray over her legs. With silent precision, he knelt on the bed, brushed a stray strand out of her eyes, and kissed her softly.

"Um, this is too good to be true," she breathed as he pulled away, a smile on her lips.

"And that’s only the beginning. I have the whole day planned out. It’s only you and me baby."

CC leaned in suggestively, running her tongue over her lips. "Planned to the very second, huh?"

Niles smiled and traced her chin with a finger. With a cocky expression, he said, "Don’t you ever stop?"

She jutted her lower lip out and playfully pouted. "It’s the hormones talking Niles. I promise that this will be the last one, ‘kay?"

Niles went along with it.

Niles popped another wedge of grapefruit in his wife’s mouth and chuckled silently as she tried to chew it without laughing.

"Quit laughing! It’s not my fault that you’re…"

"Pleasuring my wife?"

CC shook her head and opened her mouth to speak only to end up with another piece of fruit in her mouth. She chewed and swallowed it quickly, then got, "That’s pleasuring your fiancée." In before a grape was slipped between her lips.

Niles smiled guiltily then released his grasp. "Fine, have it your way." He murmured, kissing her neck softly.

"We’re never going to leave the bedroom today, are we?" CC asked in a moan.

Niles looked up and shrugged. "If you want…"

CC snuggled into the sheets, and gave her own evil smile. "I want."

He pulled her closer to him and looked into her eyes. "Well, I for one would love to stay here and make soft, sensuous love to you over and over again,"

CC smiled, hoping that he would.

"But, as parents, we need to get up and work on the Nursery."

She frowned distastefully, but realized that he was right.
