Like I've said before, I'm a fanatic for THE NANNY and unfortunately, I don't own these characters. I just wanted to have some fun with them so I made up this story... These characters belong to Fran Drescher and Peter Mark Jacobson.
But, Raquel, Inês, Nica & Diogo are my creation. (I'm kidding… It's me and a couple of friends of mine.) I just want to have some fun ova' here.

It's Been a While

Part Two

The field trip was scheduled to 12th June. Fran and the four students; Rach, Nica, Diogo and Inês, would go to Serra da Estrela for a two days stay.

Max would meet them there and they were planning to spend a romantic weekend together.

But fate had another idea for them...

The bus arrived early at the school and the students got in with their teacher, waving goodbyes at their family and friends.

Fran saw Max arriving on his rented BMW and smiled.

They kissed and Max asked her if she was ready to go.

- Of course I am honey. We all are.

- Then drive safe ok?

- You too Max. I love you.

- I love you too darling.

They kissed again and went to their rides.

On the bus, the ride was full of laughter and songs that they were singing together.

Meanwhile, on the BMW... Well, that was another story. Max was planning to propose Fran while they were at the resort.

He had been with this idea nudging him for over a week now and he was very nervous but at the same time very anxious to hear her answer.

He knew she loved him and she knew he loved her. They were perfect together; they were soul mates and nothing could break them apart.

Fran was listening to music while her students were playing games, when she heard some weird noises coming from ahead. The weather was foggy, now and the driver of the school bus was having a hard time when it came to watch the road.

Then in happened...

Fog... The road seemed to be non-existent.

Lights...

Truck...

Crash...

All white... Fran moaned Max's name, felt someone calling her name and holding her hand, and then she blacked out.

- NO! Oh my God, no! NO! – Max was in panic when he saw Fran's body stood there, motionless. – FRAN!!!

Max watched the terror around him: the bus driver was death, Inês had broke an arm, Nica had a broken leg and was bleeding from a cut on the forehead, Diogo was unconscious and had a few broken ribs, Rach was in deep pain and bleeding like hell because of the glass that had passed through her liver and Fran was barely breathing...

Max called the 911 and the ambulance arrived shortly...

Max registered all of them in the hospital and called the other kid's parents, taking full responsibility for Rachel and for Fran. Rach was calling for her teacher but she fainted because of the pain. Her injuries were pretty bad and the doctors had a little bit of hope with her.

- You're gonna be allright Rach. Be strong, child. – Max wiped a single tear that fell and waited for the doctor with the news of Fran's condition.

Around 3am Dr. Marcos woke up Maxwell.

- Mr. Sheffield, would you please come to my office?

- Yes Doctor. – Max was nervous.

- Mr. Sheffield I want you to understand that you have two persons on full responsibility and we will help you to choose what the best is for them; to save them.

- I know Doctor. How are they?

- Well, the other students are in the recovery room but...

- But?

The Doctor sighed and cleaned up his glasses. In hears of experience, he'd never seen such a case. – Mr. Sheffield, Miss Rachel and Miss Fine are in coma. Rachel has some severe injuries and we had to induce her in the coma state or she would die in deep pain and Miss Fine... Well, Miss Fine is in a more dangerous state than everyone. We need to wait and see what happens and if we...

Max couldn't listen more... His mind went numb when the doctor said the love of his life was in a coma. His legs refused to support him and he fell on the chair.

- Mr. Sheffield, are you listening to me?

- Y-Yes doctor. Thank you. Do what necessary to save their lives. Money is no problem.

- We will do that, sir. Now you can stay here or take a rest.

- I prefer to stay in their rooms. I want to be able to watch the two of them please.

- Yes sir. We will provide you the necessary conditions to stay.

Blink... Light... Shadows... Blink... Tall man standing in front of her... Blink...

- Ouch! What am I doing here?

- Fran Fine? - A tall man dressed in black asked her.

- Yes?

- You had an accident.

- Wha'?

- You are in coma.

- Come again?

- You need to make a decision.

- Decision? About what?

- You need to come with me. – He extended his hand to her...
