Like I've said before, I'm a fanatic for THE NANNY and unfortunately, I don't own these characters. I just wanted to have some fun with them so I made up this story... These characters belong to Fran Drescher and Peter Mark Jacobson.
But, Raquel, Inês, Nica & Diogo are my creation. (I'm kidding… It's me and a couple of friends of mine.) I just want to have some fun ova' here.
Thanks...

It's Been a While

Part Three

- Where are we? – Fran asked looking everywhere.

- We're in a place of peace and quiet where you can make all of your decisions between life and death. Tell me Fran, what do you remember of the accident?

- I... I don't remember much of it. I just remember someone holding my hand and other person with a familiar accent calling my name but I don't remember who it was.

- Fran, you're in coma. Rach is coma too and Max is the one who is taking care of both of you. The doctors don't have their expectations high about Rachel and they're trying to focus on your condition. They think Rachel is going to be allright, but He – The figure pointed upwards – is reluctant to let that happen. I'm sorry.

- But... She has to be allright; Rachel is going to be fine. She's a strong young girl who's trying to fight for her dreams. Damn it, it's not fair. – Fran was crying. She knew Rach better than herself and since her father died, she treated Rach the same way she treated the Sheffield's children; like her daughter.

- Come with me Fran. You'll see for yourself. – The dark figure held his hand for her and Fran grabbed it. Suddenly, she felt being swept of her feet and she was floating on the air. Fran was in "awe" for this and she saw a white room; a hospital room, so it seemed. Fran saw a small bed where Rachel rested and Max by her side, holding the girl's hand, tears in his face. She'd never seen him like this.

- Oh Max... Oh my God, I can't stand seeing him like this.

- Fran, he's been crying because of both of you. Maxwell loves you and a very strong bond has been created between him and Rachel. Maxwell is near you since day one.

- I... I can't imagine the pain he's going through right now.

- Oh God, don't do this to me. Let Rachel live, please. I don't know what's with this girl, but I have a strange feeling inside me, because she and I get along so well and I already treat her like if she was my daughter. I don't want to lose her. She sort of helped, putting me and Fran back together. - Max talked out loud and let his imagination go to the room next door thinking about his girlfriend. – Fran... – Her name was just a whisper, passing through his lips. – God, I don't want to lose Fran too. I've already lost her once, and I'll never loose her again. Please God, please, make them survive. – After finishing his prayer, Max gave a kiss on Rachel's cheek and went to Fran's room.

Fran's eyes were covered in tears. The love for this man increased in a way she never thought it would exist.

- Please sir, can't you do something? – She asked the figure.

- I'm sorry Fran, I'm just an angel. I can't do much, and besides, the ball is in Rachel's court now.

- What? But you said that He – she pointed upwards – was not going to let Rachel live.

- No Fran. What I said was that He was reluctant, but it seems to me, that Rachel has a decision to make, and in base of that decision, she will decide if she dies or lives. Now I want to know what your decision is.

Fran was thinking about while looking at Max. He knew her better than anyone else and she was sure he was going to protect her forever. Suddenly, she remembered one piece of the lyrics of a song and started to sing them, all in a whisper.

- "Find me here

And speak to me

I want to feel you

I need to hear you

You are the light

That's leading me to the place

Where I find peace again

You are the strength

That keeps me walking

You are the hope

That keeps me trusting

You are the life

To my soul

You are my purpose

You're everything"* - Fran replayed on her mind the moments she had spend with the Sheffield's since the day she knocked on that door. She remembered the day she left and how Max had fought for her. He travelled to Portugal just to conquer her again. Max was her Prince Charming; he was the one who completed her, who was capable of making her the happiest woman in the whole wide world. He was definitely the one for her.

- I decide to live. My job isn't finished on earth. I still want to get married with Max.

The angel chuckled. – You know Fran; I always knew that you were going to be a very special human being.

- How did you know that? Wait a minute... What kind of angel are you?

- I'm your guardian angel Fran. I'm here, next to you, to protect you from all kind of evil...

- Oh yeah? So why didn't you protected me from the wreck?

- It was meant to be, Fran; just like you and Max.

Fran couldn't believe on her own ears. – What?

- You and Max are meant to be together Fran, since the beginning. Be happy Fran, and always make the right decisions. Now I'll send you again. Goodbye Fran.

- Thank you angel. I'm so ha... – Fran couldn't finish the sentence...

- Fran, my love, I'm here right now and I'll be by your side forever sweetheart. I love you. – Max gave her a kiss and sat on the chair right by Fran's side, enveloping her little, cold and fragile hand with his big, warm one. A few minutes later, Max was sleeping. At 4h30am, Max went to the bathroom, hoping that when he came back, Fran would be looking him in the eyes, smiling.

Fran started coming to her senses and finally, she woke up. She recalled the wreck and everything, even her meeting with her guardian angel. The sound of a flushing toilet made her come back to reality and when the bathroom door opened, she saw those green tinted eyes that she came to love. She had a few doubts about them, but as soon as he smiled, the doubts vanished from her mind.

- Hey.

- Hey yourself. – Her voice was a bit raspy, but she kept smiling to him.

He reached for her hand and kissed her knuckles.

- I love you Fran Fine.

- And I love you Maxwell Sheffield.

"Your hazel green tint eyes watching

Every move I make

And that feeling of doubt

It's erased

I'll never feel alone again

With you by my side

You're the one

And in you I confide

And we have gone through good and bad

Times

But you unconditional love

Was always on my mind

You've been there from the start

For me

And you're love's always been

True as can be

I give my heart to you

I give my heart, 'cause nothing can compare in this world

To you"**

EPILOGUE:

- You may kiss the bride.

Max kissed his new wife under the attentive looks of his family. They had gone to the US again and they'd taken Rach who was now the new member of the Sheffield's.

Life had thought them a lesson they would never forget.

Max was sure that he was the happiest man in the whole world.

Fran had never been happier.

Niles and CC were glad that everything was fine now.

Maggie, Brighton and Grace got together for the wedding of the century and apologised their father for neglecting them.

Rachel was very happy because she did not only found out that her father was her guardian angel, as she found out that with the Sheffield's, live couldn't be boring.
