Everyone was in the middle of dinner when CC came in.

Maxwell: CC, what a surprise…would you like to join us for dinner?

CC: Oh no I just wanted to tell everyone that I’m getting married.

Niles: Oh let me go check on my dessert.

Fran: That’s wonderful, but what about Niles?

CC: What about him?

Fran: Ms. Babcock ,he loves you. You know that right.

CC: Yes I knew that but I have been seeing Colin for a while now and we’re getting married.

Maxwell: Well congratulations.

Meanwhile in the kitchen Niles was numb. The woman he loved for so long was getting married. He had lost her forever. He had so many thoughts running through his mind. Just then Fran came in to check on him.

Fran: I know anything I say wont change the way you are feeling right now Niles but maybe its for the best, you will find someone that loves you just as much if not more than you love them back.

Niles : I don’t want just anyone, I want her.

Fran: aw sweetie, ill here for you when you want to talk about it or anything in general.

Niles: Thanks Mrs. Sheffield.

After dinner the kids went to the movies with Fran and Maxwell. They figured that Niles would like some time alone after the evening’s current events.

Niles was getting ready to go to bed when the door bell rang. It was the person he did not want to see right then.

Niles: You mean they let you out after dark.

CC: Ha ha very funny Niles. I refuse to allow anything you say effect my day.

Niles: Oh yes congratulations on your engagement, I feel for Colin.

CC: Are you jealous butler boy?

Niles: (lying) not one bit. Why are you here anyway?

CC: I am here to see Maxwell.

Niles: he is out for the evening with the family.

CC: Ok I just need to put something in his office ill be right back.

Niles was going upstairs when CC called his name.

CC: Niles!

Niles: What do you want ice queen?

CC: Nothing.. goodbye.

The next day

Maxwell,

I have had a wonderful career as your business partner and friend but its best I move on to start out on my own now. I will never forget what you have done for me and if you ever need anything please don’t hesitate to ask.

3 months later

A lot of things had happened to CC over the past months.. Her first play flopped and her engagement was called off. Maxwell was beginning to worry about her but every time he called or tried to see her she would cancel their meetings. She was alone and everyone knew that. Niles took matters into his own hands and surprised her.

There was a knock on CC’s door.

When CC opened it there was a florist delivery boy with 2 dozen of long stem roses with a card.

Delivery: Hello these are for you.. Have a good day!

CC: bewildered: thanks

CC was excited for the first time in months, who would send her flowers… when she opened the card all it said was…

Tears began to form in her eyes when she smiled and said ..Niles.

CC went and dialed the Sheffield residence and allowed it to ring twice and hung out.
She thought it would be better to see him face to face. She was getting ready to leave when the doorbell rang.

CC: I was coming to see you…thanks for the flowers…those words (she began to cry)

Niles: (reaching to hold her) don’t say anything I know what you are going to say.

CC: (pulling for him) no you don’t just let me say this. All my life I have loved blindly.
I have always loved someone more than they loved me back and this whole time you loved me and just stayed in the background. You knew this would happened didn’t you?

Niles: I knew that Colin wasn’t the one for you but it wasn’t my place to say anything. I love you more than anyone or anything but I don’t know how I can be everything you want…I am just Niles.

CC: That’s all I want.
