More Than Words Can Say

I am taking this Nanny fiction from the point where Fran and Maxwell are married, but Niles and C.C. are not together yet. Fran sat in the living room admiring a new top she had purchased, on Maxwell's credit card of course. She couldn't believe how wonderful her life had turned out, being Mrs. Maxwell Sheffield. Maxwell had just finished interviewing an actor that C.C. and him had in mind for a new play. He walked through the living room and Maxwell had to basically tell the man to put his tongue back in his mouth when he saw Fran.

"That's my wife Ben, I hope you realize that."

"Oh of course Maxwell, but I can't help but admire beauty so fine." Ben said giving her the eye.

"Who's your friend honey?" Fran asked.

"This is Ben, he is auditioning, and this is my wife Fran."

"Ben Griffith at your service and I have to tell you Fran, you are just beautiful, Maxwell really hit the jackpot with you." He said kissing her hand.

Fran giggled, feeling so flattered by him, he was very good looking, in his mid twenties, over six feet tall, with dark brown hair and bedroom blue eyes.

"Okay Ben, we will call when we have made our final decision." Maxwell said, trying to move him a long.

"Yes and thanks a bunch Maxwell, good bye my dear Mrs. Sheffield, though you hardly look like a Mrs. at all, you are so youthful, what are you nineteen?" He said smiling.

"Oh yeah right Ben, it's more like she was nineteen when she purchased that out of date outfit." C.C. said rolling her eyes.

"This is a brand new top." Fran said.

"Where did you shop, a retro store? I mean come on Nanny Fine that outfit is so eighties, at least my clothing really is brand new, I am as modern as they come."

"The only thing brand new on you is that cheesy dye job." Niles said laughing.

"You don't have to call me Nanny Fine anymore C.C., I am married now."

"Too bad, you are still Nanny Fine to me and by the way Niles, this color is completely natural."

"Yeah and I'm twenty one."

"Maxwell, we have a lot of work to do, what do you say we discuss things over dinner?"

"Oh C.C., Fran and I had planned a really nice evening, I have been so busy lately, I miss my darling and I want to spend time with her." Maxwell said smiling, touching her cheek.

"Oh please, why don't I just gag now?" she said smirking.

"You are just jealous that Fran has Maxwell and the only man in your life is Chester." He said laughing.

"Well I need to eat, Niles whip me up something then." C.C. said.

"Okay, which colour bowl would you prefer?"

"What?"

"I need to know which one will be for your kibble, here girl, come and get it." He said patting her head.

She grabbed his hand tightly, warning him not to mess around with her. Fran and Maxwell had decided to take in dinner and a movie and the kids were all out for the evening. Niles was delighted to think he had the place to himself, but C.C. shook her head at him, inviting herself to stay.

"Why don't you take a hike, I need some private "Niles" time right now."

"I am staying here, come on, make me some dinner." She said pouting.

"What's the magic word?'

"Now!" C.C. demanded.

"God, you are rude, but because I don't want to hear you whine, I will make something, what do you want?" He asked.

"Okay, how about a lasagna?"

"That takes too long, besides this is not a classy dinner, you will be lucky to get macaroni and cheese Babcock."

"You asked me what I wanted to eat."

"Yeah, something simple, oh hell why don't we just order in?"

"Fine, but what?"

"Um, Chinese, yeah, go sit down for now, I will call for it."

The food came and C.C. joined Niles in the kitchen. The phone rang and he put the bag on the table, telling her to get out what she wanted. He talked for quite a long time and C.C. had to wonder who it was; he had quite the smile on his face as well. When he hung up the phone, he joined C.C. at the table.

"So who was that?"

"No one you would know."

"One of your nutty butler friends?" she said smiling.

"If you must know, I was setting up a date, I have one tomorrow night."

"A date, you can't be serious, I thought you and the duster were an item." She said laughing.

"Hardly, see, unlike you, my dates are actually real, they are alive and breathing."

"I date real men."

"Quiet, your blow up man might hear that you are cheating on him."

"Oh shut up, enough with the jokes just eat your dinner." C.C. said.

He smiled at her, taking some more rice.

"Actually, I met her at the library, she is really sweet."

"The library, you are dating a bookworm?"

"She doesn't work there Babcock, she is an accountant."

"What the hell is she doing with you then, is she looking for someone to clean her toilets?" she said taking a chicken ball.

"Never mind, you will never get it, she is a beautiful woman, but with you, we are still trying to determine what sex you are."

"Funny, what's her name Niles?"

"Eve."

"Oh Eve, oh how thrilling." C.C. said dryly.

"Are you jealous?" he said smiling.

"You wish."

They finished their dinner and the next day Eve stopped by unexpectedly. C.C. just stared at her, as she stood there talking to Niles. She had to admit that the woman was quite attractive even for Niles. But she figured it probably wouldn't last as the woman was totally out of his league, just like C.C. was. She figured that Niles was only living in a fantasy world; he would soon learn that women like her were never interested for the long term. But to C.C.'s surprise, as the months passed, Niles seemed to be quite keen on Eve, as she had stayed in the picture. She wondered what the woman saw in him, she was about ten years younger than him. She was successful, plus she had no children, so C.C. figured she would prefer another accountant or businessman. But could it be possible that Niles really did have something that she was attracted to? C.C. was perplexed about the whole thing, but one afternoon as she was about to walk into the kitchen, she stopped when she heard them talking through the door. Of course, she eavesdropped to hear exactly what was being said.

"Eve, I have never been happier, you are so beautiful, inside and out. I am honored to know such a lovely lady like you." He said, giving her a warm hug.

"Oh Niles, you are too sweet."

"I mean it Eve, I have been having a good time being with you. But I wanted to ask you, we have been seeing each other about three months or so, are you interested in seeing each other exclusively? I mean no pressure, but I thought I would ask." He said.

"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend Niles?" she said smiling.

"Yes Eve, if I care about someone, I can make a commitment, be faithful."

Eve looked at him, his blue eyes, very serious and intense. He really did want to be with her. Niles had waited forever to meet someone like Eve; she was kind, honest, loyal and very sweet and affectionate.

"Oh Niles, yes, let's be a couple." She said taking his hands.

"Really?"

"Yes, I care about you, we can enjoy each other's company and just see where it goes." Eve said.

"That sounds great."

C.C. noticed that it got quiet all of a sudden and she peeked her head into the kitchen to see Eve with her arms around Niles neck, playing with the back of his hair as he kissed her quite passionately. She didn't let him see her, she went into Maxwell's office expecting to talk to him, instead there was Nanny Fine sitting on his lap, kissing him as well. There was romance going on all around her, even Maggie had Michael, it made her sick. She felt like it was Valentine's Day in the Sheffield home. Romance like that was for saps as far as C.C. was concerned, what she saw around her was almost like what you see in movies and C.C. wasn't buying any of it. She decided to leave then and when she opened the apartment door, Chester hopped off the sofa to greet her.

"Hi Chester." She said petting his head.

She didn't like Chester at first, since he always took to Nanny Fine, but now that she had had him for a while, Chester was making up to her and she had to admit she liked having a dog. She took off her heels and put her feet up, just vegging out for a while after she checked her messages. C.C. flipped through the TV stations, but nothing good was really on, so she decided to just head to bed a bit early. Time quickly passed and Niles and Eve became more serious. Fran was ecstatic, and she knew Niles was such a good catch, but that was in her eyes, not C.C.'s. Nanny Fine would always talk about Eve in front of C.C, they even went out sometimes, shopping or whatever, even if she was completely different from Eve as well. She figured Eve was humoring Nanny Fine because she was so close to Niles. They never asked her to join them, but she really didn't want to go anyway, she would be uncomfortable. It had now been six months and Niles sat in the living room with Fran one day, he had the largest grin on his face C.C. had ever seen.

"What's with that crazy grin Niles?"

"Miss Babcock, isn't this exciting?"

"What?"

"Oh you haven't heard yet, Niles is proposing to Eve." Fran said hugging him.

"You are?"

"Yeah Babcock, I want to marry Eve, I have told her how much I love her and she returned it."

"It's only been six months Niles." C.C. said surprised.

"I know that, but we are in love and you don't always need a long relationship or engagement to tie the knot. Besides, we aren't kids here, we are mature enough to know what we want."

"Oh Niles, I know she will say yes." Fran said excitedly.

"I hope so Fran, I really do love her."

"It's so romantic, finally Niles, your turn has come and then we have to get Miss Babcock hooked up." Fran said smiling.

"I am fine, I don't need a man."

"Who would want you anyway?" Niles asked.

C.C. looked at him, usually the insults would roll off of her, but for some reason, this time it bothered her. She didn't say anything and walked away from them.

"Uh oh, I think I hit a nerve." Niles said.

"I am sure she is fine Niles."

"Um, I'm not so sure, hold on Fran." He said patting her hand.

C.C. was in the kitchen and when Niles came in, she looked up at him, and didn't say a word.

"Sorry." He said simply.

"About what?"

"About that comment, it looked like it bothered you."

"I am fine." C.C. said coldly, avoiding eye contact with him.

"Are you sure, you know I would never intentionally hurt or upset you, right? You know how we like to bug and joke with each other."

"Yeah anyway, Niles, I just think you are crazy for proposing."

"What do you mean?"

"I don't think you are being rational about it, it's only been a few months and even if you do love her, that's not long enough." C.C. said.

"That's my decision, I am ready to get married."

"Fine, don't come crying to me when you want a divorce and I tell you I told you so." C.C. said dryly.

"Can't you just be happy for me?".

"What do you care what I think?" C.C. asked.

"I don't know, I have known you forever it seems, I thought you would be happy that it's my turn for love."

"Whatever Niles, I have to go, see you later." C.C. said walking by him.

Niles wondered why she was being bitchier than normal, but he put it out of his mind and smiled thinking that he would be engaged by the end of the night. He got dressed and put on a nice pair of beige pants and a black oxford shirt and decided to go over to Eve's earlier than what he had planned. He wanted to be spontaneous and really surprise her. He looked at the ring and then put it in the small velvet box, closing it tightly for safekeeping. Maxwell and Fran smiled at him as he put on his long overcoat.

"Good luck Niles, I can't wait to hear how it goes." She said hugging him tightly.

"Thank you Fran."

"Good luck old man, you deserve all of the happiness in this world." Maxwell said shaking his hand.

The kids were standing there too and wished him luck. Niles could feel butterflies in his stomach as he drove over to Eve's condo. When he got out of the car, he didn't bother ringing the buzzer, as he had a key she had given him. When the elevator doors opened, Niles felt a sudden burst of excitement and complete nervousness come over him. But he was going to do this, he figured even if she wasn't ready to go, this would be more fun and spontaneous to catch her off guard. He unlocked the door to her place and it was quiet, the lights were on, but he figured she was in the bathroom or the bedroom. When she wasn't in the bathroom, he smiled, very excited that the moment was nearly here. Niles turned the handle and opened the bedroom door, but his smile turned to a complete frown within moments.

"Eve." He said looking at her.

"Niles! Oh my God! What are you doing here?" she said in shock.

"I wanted to surprise you, but I see you are already busy."

"This is not what it looks like Niles." She said covering herself with a sheet.

"Who's this dude?" the man asked.

"This dude is her boyfriend, who the hell are you?" Niles said angrily.

"I'm Brett, her piece on the side I guess." He said laughing.

"Eve, how could you, and he's practically a kid."

"Dude, I'm in my twenties, Eve this guy is a bit old for you though isn't he?"

"Why don't you just shut the hell up!" he yelled at him.

"Niles, please, let me explain."

"Explain what, I can see with my own eyes what the hell are you doing. And to think I was going to propose to you tonight. You know what Brett, you can have her!" he said shouting.

"Niles, it was a mistake, I love you." She said getting out of the bed.

"Love me, yeah right!"

"I'm sorry, it just happened, that's all." She said touching his arm.

"Eve, I am too mature for these damn games, if you wanted to break up, you should have just said so, instead of going behind my back and sleeping with skater boy here."

"We can work this out Niles, you are very attractive and....

"Attractive Eve, come on, don't try to come off with the pity routine. I am obviously not your type or you wouldn't be sleeping with Brett."

"Niles, wait! She said running to the door, tripping on the bed sheet.

"What!"

"I really am sorry Niles." She said sadly.

He didn't say another word to her and slammed the door. Eve began to cry and ran back into the bedroom.

"Oh baby, you don't need him, just me." Brett said trying to kiss her.

"It's not time for that you idiot, I just lost Niles." She said feeling ashamed of herself.

"I am much better looking than him any day." Brett said.

"What have I done, sleeping with you? How could I do that?"

"Why not baby, I am hot." Brett said proudly.

"Oh get over yourself and more importantly get out of my apartment." Eve yelled.

"What, no second chance for passion?"

"Get out!" she yelled throwing his clothes at him.

"But baby, you will miss what I can give you, Niles can not give you a fantastic body like this and more importantly amazing sex." Brett said smiling devilishly.

"I don't care about that, Niles is a good man, I am such a fool, I need to get him back, and I have to try." Eve said in a panic.

Niles drove home, trying to keep his cool, being angry on the road would not be a good thing as he didn't want get involved in any kind of road rage. When he opened the door, Fran and Maxwell were sitting on the couch.

"Oh Niles!" Fran said getting up and running to give him a hug.

"Oh congratulations old man, this is so exciting." Maxwell said.

C.C. had come in from the kitchen and stood there just staring at him.

"So tell us, how excited was Eve?" Fran asked.

Niles didn't say a word, but caught a glimpse of C.C. who was just waiting for his answer.

"Was she happy Niles?" Maxwell asked.

Niles took the box out of his pocket and opened it to show them the ring. They suddenly frowned when they saw it.

"She said no?" Fran said shocked.

"I never had a chance to ask her Fran."

"Why not, did you chicken out Niles? Did you see your life flash before your eyes? She a successful accountant and you, just her cleaning lady." C.C. said laughing.

"C.C., that wasn't very nice, have some tact." Maxwell said.

"Actually sir, I didn't get to ask her because she was sort of busy."

"Oh was she working on some figures?" Fran asked.

"Well, she was working on keeping her figure, burning calories."

"She was exercising?" Fran asked.

"Yeah, horizontally." Niles said dryly.

Fran looked at Maxwell curiously, and C.C.'s eyes widened when she realized what he meant.

"I don't get it." Fran said.

"Quit using so much hairspray Nanny Fine, it's seeping into your brain. What he's saying is she was in bed with someone else." C.C. said crossing her arms.

"Oh Niles." Maxwell said.

"It's true sir, Eve slept with another man, in fact, and he was quite a bit younger."

"That bitch!" Fran said angrily.

"Fran!"

"No it's okay sir, she has a right to be angry."

"You're damn right I do, Niles is a wonderful man, she is nothing but a slut."

"Nanny Fine, would you calm yourself down, I am sure he knows what she is." C.C. said.

"Miss Babcock, how can you be so calm? This is Niles, our butler, my best friend, oh Niles, I love you honey, I am so sorry." Fran said hugging him tightly.

"Thank you."

"Well old man, what can I say."

"Nothing sir, life goes on, anyway, you go and do what you have to do."

"No Niles, you need us." Fran said sympathetically.

"I will be okay Fran, but thanks."

They left the room, but C.C. stood there, not knowing what to say next. She was so used to insulting him, but she figured she had better not then. She may not be an emotional person, but she had to show some sensitivity towards him.

"So, um, wow eh?" She said.

"Yeah." Niles said simply.

"You will be okay, you can do better than that tramp." C.C. said.

"You know C.C., she may be a tramp, but I did love her." He said staring at her.

"I know you loved her and well all I can say is I'm really sorry Niles." She said touching his hand.

Niles looked at her; he had never seen her expression like that. He never knew C.C. had in it her, to show the slightest bit of sympathy. He had to admit when she softened, it changed how she looked and it was for the better. He could even admit that she looked rather pretty when she wasn't being her usual icy self.

"So, what are you doing for dinner?" C.C. asked.

"Making it for everyone." Niles said.

"Screw that, they can make it themselves, come on, butler boy, it's on me and I won't take no for answer."

Niles was floored, C.C. actually taking him for dinner, he thought he better mark that day on the calendar. Just as he grabbed his coat, he was shocked to see Eve at the front door. He looked at C.C., wondering what he should do. But she nodded for him to talk to her and went in the other room. Niles opened the door to her and Eve hugged him as tightly as she could.

"I am so sorry, I was wrong, I even threw Brett out, coming to my senses. Niles, please, can you give me another chance? I promise to be faithful to you. It made me realize when you walked out that door tonight, that I lost you, I lost the best thing I have ever had in my life."

"Eve, I...|

"Please, do I have to beg here? You know I love you Niles, we make such a great couple. I won't cheat on you ever again; it was so stupid of me. I saw Brett and well it just happened, you know?" Eve said.

"No I don't know, and it just happened? Yeah right Eve, you wanted it as much as him." Niles said annoyed.

"But it was wrong, please Niles, let's start over, we love each other." Eve said practically begging.

C.C. wondered what was going on, so she couldn't resist standing near the living room.

"I do love you Eve."

"Oh Niles!" She said throwing her arms around his neck.

"Stop." He said taking them away.

"Why?"

"Let me finish please. I do love you or I did, but it's not enough to want to stay with you." Niles said.

"What, you mean I screw up once and that's it? No second chance at all?"

"Sorry Eve, once a cheater, always a cheater, besides, you will find someone eventually."

"But I want you Niles."

"You can't have me, it's over Eve, and I will show you out."

"Niles!"

"Sorry, no second chance, sometimes we have to learn from our mistakes, so learn." He said opening the front door.

"Fine, then, bye." Eve said walking out.

"Bye." He said shutting the door.

C.C. came back into the living room.

"You heard didn't you?"

"A bit, come on Niles, you did the right thing, let's get out of here."

They went for a nice dinner and when they returned to the mansion, Niles made them both a coffee. They had stayed out for quite some time just talking, actually having a civil conversation. Fran and Maxwell had headed to bed so they sat on the couch. When C.C. had finished her cup, he offered to make another pot so she helped him in the kitchen.

"Thanks for dinner." Niles said.

"Sure, well you needed a break." C.C. said.

"So I have to ask, why are you being so nice to me? Do you feel sorry for me?" Niles asked.

"Yeah, if I'm being honest, that was pretty low what she did, even you don't deserve that."

"I was faithful to her Babcock, I never cheated."

"I believe you, I guess she wanted to have her cake and eat it too, but as soon as she realized, she expected you to just jump back in with both feet. I am glad you didn't, you are far too intelligent for that."

"Really?" he said surprised by her comments.

"Sure, you are intelligent, you have a lot to offer the right woman Niles. You do have a good heart."

"Yeah, but obviously she was after looks, I guess I wasn't her type."

"Screw her, she was looking for a bed mate, perhaps, that other guy wasn't the only one, sorry not to make a bad situation worse, but you can do so much better Niles. In fact I will admit that I think you are a good looking guy."

"My God, did you take a nice pill today?"

"Very funny, I am just speaking the truth here." She said.

"Well thank you C.C." he said staring at her.

She was surprised to hear him use her first name. It was usually just Babcock or some other insulting phrase.

"Well anyway, how about that coffee?" she asked.

"Sure, here." He said pouring her cup.

They went back into the living room and Niles placed their cups on the coffee table, she talked and talked, going on about what a bad catch Eve was and how he would find a better woman eventually. Niles had to wonder why she was so concerned about him. It wasn't like her to discuss his love life.

"So if you think I can do so much better, then pick someone for me." Niles said smiling.

"Like who?"

"I don't know C.C., you seem to know my type, so give me a name, give me a woman I should date then." He said leaning against the back of the couch looking at her.

"I have no idea who would be a match for you Niles."

"Well, how about someone tall, perhaps with lovely eyes?"

"That's the typical model type Niles, next you will say blonde hair and big boobs." She said rolling her eyes.

"The boobs I am not concerned about, but blonde hair is very nice." He said leaning towards her.

"What are you doing?" she said surprised.

"Oh come on, you always say you are more intelligent than Fran."

"Yeah and?"

"If you are so smart, figure out who the woman for me is and it's not rocket science either." Niles said.

Niles leaned in even closer and C.C. clued in suddenly to what he was thinking.

"Oh Niles, no it can't be done, we hate each other." She said freaking out at the thought of it.

"I don't hate you, have you ever thought about it?" Niles asked curiously.

"No, of course not, we have always been on opposite ends on everything, besides, why would I think about it, you were nearly engaged to Eve."

"How would you feel if I had married her?"

"Happy you were finally out of my hair." She said with a nervous laugh.

"Come on C.C., you are telling me you never thought about us being together?" he said putting her on the spot.

"No."

"Not even sharing a kiss?" he asked.

"We did kiss, remember? A long time ago."

"We were drinking, that doesn't count." Niles said laughing.

"Niles, you just broke up with Eve, you can't be thinking about jumping into something else."

"I am not jumping, I am just asking if you ever thought about it."

"I don't like being put on the spot." She said getting extremely anxious.

Niles thought it was really cute that she wasn't her usual aggressive self; in fact she was quite vulnerable to the whole situation. He stared at her, his blue eyes becoming more intense, wondering what she was thinking. She then turned away, avoiding his gaze when she began to blush slightly. But he loved it, figuring that her big bad wolf routine, her tough as nails persona was just a cover. He was seeing the real C.C. for the first time. A C.C. who was caring and sweet, and not half as sarcastic. He had to admit it made her quite sexy in his eyes showing her true self.

"I like you like this." Niles said.

"Oh come on, I am all nervous like this and I feel weird."

"Your defensives are down, I knew underneath that icy exterior, there was a woman with true good qualities." He said smiling.

"No Niles, I am C.C. Babcock, strong minded, outspoken and aggressive, a power house to be reckoned with."

"You are also C.C. Babcock, who is obviously shy and caring and who has a heart as well."

"Can we please stop talking about me?" she said annoyed.

"Don't be ashamed of the real you, you can't be a bitch all of the time."

"Hey!" she said laughing.

"I'm joking, anyway, I have to thank you again for dinner." Niles said.

"Your welcome, well maybe I should get going."

"So soon?" Niles asked.

"Yeah, you will be fine, but I have things to do."

"At this hour?" he said looking at this watch.

"Yeah, really I should go." She said still feeling tense.

She got up off the couch, but he grabbed her arm.

"What is it, I have to go Niles."

But he pulled her back to sit on the couch next to him and without hesitation, put his arms around her and kissed her sensually and far more passionately this time than he had when they shared that first kiss. When they broke apart, C.C. stared at him, partly in shock and partly in a trance. She couldn't ever remember being kissed like that in her life.

"You ok?" he said softly.

"Yeah I'm fine, just fine." She said staring at him.

"Ok then."

He smiled and kissed her on the neck, quite gently, just taking his time.

"Niles?"

"Uh huh?"

"What does this mean?"

"Whatever you want it to mean C.C."

"Well again, I say you just broke up with Eve and.."

"Hon, don't panic, I am not asking you to make a commitment all of a sudden."

"Yeah, but I am not used to this and I don't know how to react."

"Don't react, just go with the flow, let me kiss you C.C., it's lovely." He said running his fingers over her mouth.

"But you just broke up with her and you are hurt and you don't want to jump into anything, it wouldn't be right."

"C.C., I never knew you could get so edgy."

"Why the hell not, you just kissed me, your worst enemy. My God, this could really change things." C.C. said.

"It doesn't have to at this point, we can still get close and I can still insult you if you want me to." He said laughing.

"Come on Niles, get real, this is serious."

"Only if you want it to be, listen, I have to move on right?"

"In the same night?"

"Look it's not like I planned it to be this way or I just met you. I have known you for years, I am not ready to jump into anything either, but just take it one step at a time. If things get too fast for you, then just tell me okay?" he said caressing her cheek.

C.C. was still in complete awe at all of this. She had to admit that she had thought about it, but she didn't want to tell him. Niles played with her hair as he continued to kiss her neck quite seductively and she closed her eyes, enjoying his warm mouth. She was very frightened to see what could happen, but she did miss having someone in her life. Men before had burned her for so many years; she had only had mainly physical relationships. She couldn't handle getting hurt emotionally over and over. And sex was just sex and it was easier than making an emotional connection. So for this, she was extremely cautious. Niles then lay her down on the couch so he could get more comfortable, bringing his body on top of hers, kissing her quite fervently.

"Niles, wait!"

"What now?" he said smiling.

"This is not private enough, I feel strange making out in the middle of Maxwell's living room."

"Well then, we can solve that, let's go upstairs." He said taking her hand.

"To your room?"

"No, to the roof." He said laughing.

"Whatever smart ass, let's just stop here and call it a night then." C.C. suggested.

"Why, you want some place private right?"

"Yeah, but not tonight okay?"

"Alright then, if that's what you want C.C."

"Well, um, I will see you in the morning then." C.C. said putting on her coat.

"Okay."

She opened up the front door and Niles took her hand.

"C.C.?"

"Yeah?"

Niles pulled her into his arms again and gave her quite the kiss good night. She got into the car and just shook her head, she couldn't believe what a great kisser he was, she was pretty amazed by it actually. Who knew the butler who had annoyed her for so many years, was actually that passionate. Niles headed up to bed, a huge grin upon his face. He knew it was very soon to be getting involved again, but Eve was history, no matter what, she wasn't going to get a chance again. And kissing C.C. felt right, everything happened for a reason. But he would take things at whatever pace worked for them. Over time, they got to know each other on a whole new different level, and they both felt quite comfortable with each other, just being together. They brought out the best in each other and this is what they both needed. One evening, Niles had quite the surprise for her and when he picked her up, he could tell she was rather excited. C.C. loved when he was spontaneous, she enjoyed trying to figure out what he was up to.

"So you ready for your surprise then dear?" he asked.

"Yes of course I am."

Niles pulled into the parking lot of a fancy hotel.

"Oh Niles."

"I thought this might be pleasant, sure we can have privacy whenever, but this is special too."

"Yes it is."

When he got the key, he struggled with it for one moment before getting the door open. C.C. smiled when she saw what he had done. He had come ahead of time to the room and ordered a bunch of roses for her, laying them out on the bed, rose petals leading up to them.

"No one has ever done anything like this for me before."

"I thought you might like it." He said.

"I love it, thank you, it is very sweet of you."

C.C. was definitely not half as sarcastic with him now, she had mellowed out and Niles had shown her that he cared for her and she could return how she felt without worrying about being hurt.

"And I hope you like this too honey."

"Champagne, wow Niles." She said surprised.

"Only the best for you dear, I wanted you to really enjoy this night, no matter what we do." He said.

They toasted each other and C.C. had never been happier, this was a risk, well worth it. They had a king bed, complete with a heart shaped Jacuzzi in the room and they were dying to try it out. C.C. admired him as he filled the tub; he had taken off his shirt and was only in his pair of jeans. She was quite impressed at how he stayed in shape. He had definitely been keeping up with the weights and she liked that. When it was filled, he turned it on and grabbed the glasses of champagne to have in there. C.C. watched him as he undid his belt and slipped off his pair of jeans that fit him in the all of the right places.

"I need a bit of help." He said pointing to his boxers.

C.C. obliged and Niles then watched her undress, enjoying the full view of her body. When she stepped into the tub, he handed her the glass, giving a toast. They lay there, enjoying the pulsating and warm bubbles over their bodies. C.C. then handed him the glass and he put his on the of the tub and he pulled her close to enjoy a sexy and romantic kiss. When they were finished their bath, Niles pulled back the covers and C.C. lay down next to him. He looked into her eyes, playing with her hair, caressing her soft, almost porcelain cheek.

"You know, C.C., you are very beautiful." He said staring at her.

"Oh Niles." She said looking away.

"I mean it C.C., I know you are not used to compliments as you've told me, but I have to tell you just how sexy you are, how much I love you."

"Love me?"

"I do, we have been together now for quite some time and I have never felt so comfortable with any woman. So many times, I used to ask myself who's my soul mate, which is "the one". Of course I thought I had found her before, perhaps we all think that at one time, its life. And for all of these years, here you were working along side me, who would have guessed with the way we fought, insulted each other, just everything that this was so right. I am in love with you C.C."

"Oh Niles, you make me so happy."

"You don't have to say it back, but just know that when you are ready, I will be here, to love you, to cherish you, to support you." He said kissing her.

"Niles, the truth is, as hard as it's been for me to open up my heart, being that I closed it for so long, I do have strong feelings for you, and I know they are feelings of love."

"Oh C.C., I will be here for you, you never have to worry about anything, I will love you unconditionally. " he said staring into her eyes.

"I love you too Niles."

Niles brought his body then over hers and C.C. admired his wonderful physique. She ran her fingers over his chest, feeling every crevice and then she allowed him to get closer to her, running her hands along his back. As he kissed her, he was pleasantly surprised when he felt her hands on his backside, caressing it firmly. It turned him on and it didn't take long for him to find a rhythm that worked for both of them as they made love. For C.C., this was so much more than just sex or a roll in the hay, she had such intense feelings now for Niles, and she had allowed herself to open her heart to him, to love him. Niles felt the same, he hadn't felt this close to a woman in so very long and he was so very happy to have taken this step with C.C. Although for so many years, they insulted in each other, they in turn loved each other. It was wonderful to have each other, both of them had wanted for so long to find the one and they finally did, life was good, life was complete. They had what Fran and Maxwell had, but just in a different way. Love was in the air in the Sheffield house, Fran and Maxwell had it all, true commitment and a loving marriage and soon enough, Niles and C.C. would share the same, it was only a matter of time until they would say I do.
