Ocean Moon
- a ballad in green and blue -
by

(sabine.clement@vrt.be)
The ocean opened up its arms
and carried a dream onto land
Green had turned white into blue
a gown drowned in the sand
The sea wept its salty tears
carressed the curves of her face
A secret knelt down next to her
his name lost in the waves
Sleepless shells were humming
their rhythmic hymn so soft and deep
But night had ripped his heart apart
and life lay shattered at his feet
Frozen in a state of mind
stoney silence washed ashore
And in their endless emptyness
crushed eyes would shine no more
"Don't move an inch", his whisper came
his mind drunk in her sight
So he would always remember her
a star lit by moonlight
She would never and always be his
But maybe
if he tried real hard
it would always be tonight
and now would never be later
A last-ever kiss
Blue lips tasted salt
she hung on his breath
Eyelids that flickered
as she rose from the dead
A translucent smile
mirrored the skies
Sparkle returned
to deep dark-brown eyes
He looked at her
and she looked back
And now he too drowned
in a bottomless black
For her eyes were the ocean
and her body the land
Fingers drawing the coastline
under his hand
Her radiating body now
warming the sand
And he felt her heart beating
as her chest rose and sank
She would for ever and always be his
And he laughed and he cried
as he tied with her tide
- crescendo with the crashing wave -
This was their wedding night
An ever-lasting kiss.
