First I want to let you all know that I do not own any of the characters used in this story (except maybe Sara Keith). They belong to Fran Drescher, Peter Marc Jacobson, and I don't know who else. Please don't sue me for using these wonderful characters. Please don't pay any attention if my english is bad, because I'm just a 15 years old Nanny fan from Holland. This is the second part of a five-part series.  It started in Heaven for everyone, and is followed by Wherever I go trouble keeps following me, Personal Things and Future Fantastic. Please read Heaven for everyone first, to understand who everybody is and where they stand. It may have not so many to do with the Nanny, but I felt I needed to write this story. The song/lyrics are from Mariah Carey and Brian McKnight, Whenever you call. Send any comments, tips or whatever to this address: sara_van_bussel@yahoo.com Enjoy!

Trouble Holiday

by

Sara van Bussel
(sara_van_bussel@yahoo.com)

It was a few weeks later. Niles and CC, Fran and Maxwell and Sara and Brighton were all happy in love. Maggie had dumped Gene a long time ago and was now dating Pete.

The Sheffield family was on a vacation in the Caribbean. Niles and CC took a private vacation.

Sara and Brighton laid in a hammock together. They had fed each other some fruit, and they had talked but now they were just relaxing and enjoying the sun. Suddenly Sara started to shiver.

"D? Are you cold?"

"Yes, but that ain't possible is it? I think I'm coming down with something. I'm so cold." They got out of the hammock and went inside. Gracie, who was reading a book, followed them.

"What's wrong Sara?" She asked.

"I don't feel so good...." She fainted in Brighton’s arms.

"Gracie, quick, get dad and Fran. I think they are on the beach." Gracie left and Brighton picked up Sara and carried her to her bed. He put her under the covers. She came back a couple of times, but she wasn't with him at all.

Fran and Maxwell rushed in the room. Fran immediately rushed over to Sara. She hugged her tight.

"Oh my baby, what's wrong?" Sara mumbled something and laid down again. Maxwell stood behind Brighton with his hands on his shoulders. Brighton looked very worried.

"Max, I think you should call a doctor. I think she is very sick. Maybe it's something she ate."

"I don't know the number of the doctor, but I do know the way to the hospital." Maxwell carried Sara to the car and they all went to the hospital. Brighton sat on the back seat, with Sara's head on his lap. He gently stroked her hair and said sweet words to her. Fran looked at him.

"Max, look at him. He's so worried, and loving. He's so grown up." She whispered. Max looked, and was a little proud. They arrived at the hospital. Maxwell carried Sara inside, and Fran supported Brighton. Sara was put in a bed, and a doctor checked her out while Maxwell, Fran and Brighton waited in the waiting room. Brighton told them how Sara got sick.

"We were laying in the hammock, and suddenly without a warning D started shivering. She said she didn't feel so good, and we went inside. Gracie asked what was wrong and she fainted in my arms. I put her to bed, but she didn't wake up. What's wrong with her?" The doctor came back and guided them into a private room.

"Hi, I'm doctor Changus. I checked Miss Keith out, and it doesn't look good. She has a rare disease which only runs in a couple of families. There is treatment possible, but it's very expensive. I read in her file she temporarily lives with you. Is there anywhere where we contact her parents?" Maxwell wanted to speak, but Brighton was first.

"She is an orphan, and her legal guardian can't and won't pay the costs. I will pay it."

"Brighton, you don't have to pay it."

"Yes I do, I need to and I want to. I have the money, and I need to do this for D."

"Ok, I need a medical back ground, and you need to fill out the forms."

"Fran and dad. I can take it from here." Fran and Maxwell left.

"It's highly unusual to have a seventeen year old boy pay for all the costs."

"I love her, and I have the money. Would you explain this disease to me?"

"Ok, it's called Carn's disease and it means that at one point, when a strange thing comes in the blood, for example from a mesquito bite, the brain things everything in the body is bad. It basically begins destroying it self. It can be prevented, and we are lucky because we are early, and I am a specialist on this disease. The medicine works, but it will appear that it gets worse. She will get into a coma, but almost immediately after that she will be better."

"Ok. When will she get out of her coma?"

"If we give the medicine today, it will take about three days."

"Can I still see her?"

"Yes, but only you. She can't have any other visitors. I will tell your father and mother what I just told you." The doctor left to get the medicine and inform Fran and Maxwell. Brighton filled in the forms and went to Fran and Maxwell. Fran immediately ran to Brighton and hugged him. She was crying.

"Fran, the doctor told us it would be ok. If you excuse me, I want to be with her." Brighton left and Fran and Maxwell hugged each other.

Brighton sat besides Sara's bed and held her hand.

"Baby, I just talked to the doctor, and you are very ill. But they are going to give you a medicine, and you will get better. I love you." He gently kissed her.

"I love you too." It was very soft, but Brighton could hear it. He got tears in his eyes. The doctor entered and gave her an IV.

"In two days we will know if it works."

"What do you mean if?"

"There's a fifty-fifty chance that the body doesn't accept the medicine. But I should worry about that. She is young and strong."

"Thanks doc." The doctor left and Brighton watched Sara. She would look so peaceful if she didn't have sweat drops all over her face. Maxwell and Fran were watching from the window. After a few minutes Brighton kissed Sara on her forehead and left the room.

"The doc gave her an IV. I really want to go home now."

"Yes, off course, lets go." Fran put her arm around his shoulders and they walked back to the car. The ride back to the apartment was quiet.

When they got home Brighton left to his room. Fran and Maxwell explained everything to Gracie and Maggie.

Maggie went to Brighton's room.

"B? Can I come in?"

"Yeah." Maggie entered and sat besides him on the bed.

"I just wanted to tell you that I hope she gets better soon. I love her like a sister, and know you love her."

"Thanks. I think I'm gonna go by the hospital tonight to drop of some stuff, and talk to her. The doctor said that my voice and touch are some of the things she needs to keep her grip on the real world."

"Can I come? I feel I need to do something."

"Yeah off course. But you can't come into the room."

"Yeah I know, dad and Fran told me."

"Could you drive us? I just need to get some stuff."

"Sure, see you outside?"

"Ok." Brighton packed some clothes, a notebook, and went outside. Maggie all ready sat in the car. They drove to the hospital.

Maggie and Brighton went inside. Brighton went into Sara's room and Maggie stood outside.
Brighton kissed Sara on the forehead.

"Hey baby, I'm back." Brighton put away the bag and sat besides her. He held her hand. Sara was still covered with sweat. The doctor entered.

"Hello youngman. Sara has slipped into a coma. The sweat is because her body is fighting the disease. You can sponge her face with cold water, if you like. Otherwise I will call a nurse."

"No I will do it." The doctor left. Brighton got a washcloth and started to wash her face. He talked to her, about all kinds of things.

Maggie watched her brother with amazement. He was acting so cool about it. Fran told her that he paid for the whole thing too. And he seemed to love her very much. But Maggie was a little worried.

Brighton held everything in. He didn't talk about his feelings. Maybe it would be too much. She saw Brighton sit down and pick up a notebook, and he started to write.

Brighton knew he had to get some of his feelings out. He wrote poetry before, but he had never let anybody read it. He started to write how he felt about Sara.

 Love
 Wandered inside
 Stronger than you
 Stronger than I

 And now
 That has begun
 We can not turn back
We can only turn into a

 And I
 Truly will try
 Finding my soul
 There in your eyes

 And you
 Have opened my heart
 And lifted me inside
 By showing me myself
 Undisguised

And I will breath for you each day
Comfort you through all the pain
 Gently kiss your tears away

You can turn to me and cry
 Always understand that I
Give you all I have inside

 I won’t ever be too
 Far away to feel you
And I won't hesitate at all
 Whenever you call
 And I'll always remember
A part of you so tender
I'll be the one to catch your fall
 Whenever you call

Brighton put down the notebook and looked at Sara. She looked so lovely. The nurse entered and told him visiting hours were over, but that they would call if anything changed. Brighton and Maggie drove home.

Brighton was dreaming. He was in a park, with people. The light was very foggy, and he didn't recognize any of people. They all ignored him. Suddenly he saw Sara. He tried to run to her, but it was as if he was running in sand. He couldn’t move quickly. He called her, but she didn't hear him. He couldn't reach her. Then she grabbed the arm of an older man and she vanished. He fell to the ground, crying.

He woke up because the phone was ringing. He got out of his bed and picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"I need to speak to Brighton Sheffield."

"This is him."

"This G. Hospital. I call to inform you that Miss Keith's situation has become critical. You can come if you want to."

"Yes, I'll be there shortly." Brighton woke up Maxwell and told him what he had just heard. They decided to wake Fran and fill her in. Then they would leave for the hospital and leave the girls at the apartment.

The ride to the hospital was quiet as the men thought about what could happen. Brighton thought about his dream and what it meant. Maybe it meant that Sara could leave him.

They arrived at the hospital and Brighton rushed in. The nurse took him to the intensive care. Sara laid there with all off these tubes running around her. She had a breath machine, and her heart was being monitored. Brighton got tears in his eyes. He sat besides her and held her hand.

He tried to press all his strength into her. And then it all made sense. The dream, it was what Sara was going through. She had to choose. Him or that man.

"D, I know what you're going through. You have to make a choice. And I know it may sound selfish, but please choose me. I need you besides me. And you need me. We are connected and we need to be together. I don't think I can live without you, please come back." The heart machine started beeping, and Brighton saw a flat line on the monitor. The nurses rushed in and pushed him away. He went out of the room. Maxwell rushed to his son and hugged him. Brighton sat and tried to talk to Sara in his mind. He made up reasons for her to stay.

'I love you, and I need you. I can help you. We are soul mates. I don't think I can live without you. I know I can't offer what they can up there, but I can try. I don't know what to say then to ask you to stay.' He started to pray, although he wasn't religious at all.

'Mom, if you can hear me, please help me. I love Sara with all my heart. It isn't just a crush, or a teen love. I want to be with her forever. I will stay with her for the rest of my life. Please help us. She's too young to die. Please.' He started to cry when he thought of Sara dying. Maxwell hugged him. He too had prayed to Sarah, asking her to help Sara.

The doctor entered and took Brighton and Maxwell apart.

"As you know Sara went into full cardiac arrest. We were able to bring her back although it took a while. But she's back, stronger then ever. I could almost call it a miracle. She hasn't only lived through a cardiac arrest but she also beat the disease. I think she's almost cured, but we have to see tomorrow. She has come out of her coma, and is now sleeping. I suggest you would do the same." The doctor left.

"Shall we go home?" Maxwell asked.

"No. I won't leave her. She needs me. I want to be there when she wakes up. She chose me and I need to live up to my promises." Maxwell didn't bother to argue, or ask what he meant.

"Ok, but I'm going. I'm exhausted, and want to be with Fran and the girls." Maxwell left and Brighton went back to Sara. He fell asleep holding her hand.

Sara remembered little of the past day. She remembered the hammock, and she remembered fainting. Then she was in a bed. Then she was in the hospital and B was explaining what was wrong and he told he loved her. She had told him she loved him too. Then she was in a park. She saw all of the people she had lost, and who where important to her. She saw her father, but she also saw B. She wanted to be with both, but she had to choose. She loved B, but she missed her father. She went with her father, and everything vanished. She was back with her family. But B had disappeared. She was in her old home and then doorbell rang. She opened the door and saw a beautiful women. She explained that she was Sarah, B's mother, and that she was send to explain to her. Sarah explained that she was sent by the prayers of B and the Sheffield family. They all cared a lot for her. Especially B. He loved her so much. He was willing to give his life for her. Sarah explained that she had to choose between a life in her heaven, with her family, but without B, or a life on earth with B. The heaven would be there forever, but B wouldn't. B was her soul mate, her other half, and needed her. She needed him.

Sara decided to choose B. She said goodbye to her family, which was very hard. Sarah took her back to the park but all the people had disappeared except B. Sara ran to B, who hugged her tightly. Then she woke up and looked into the eyes of a strange man. She felt so tired and fell back to sleep.

She woke up and felt a weight on her arm. She looked and saw B, sleeping on her arm. She gently pulled her arm underneath him away and stroked his hair. The breathing tubes and heart machine had been removed, and Sara was feeling much better.

Brighton woke up and felt Sara's hand. He took it and started to kiss it up to her face. He ended on her lips.

"Hey love birds, cut it out. She is sick and needs to rest." The nurse had entered smiling to see Sara so much better. He took Sara's temperature.

"You can try to eat some breakfast. Are you hungry?"

"A little."

"Do you want to eat too?" The nurse asked Brighton.

"Yes please." The nurse left to get breakfast.

"I love so much more now." Brighton told Sara.

"Why?"

"Well last night, when you had your heart attack, I had this dream. I was in a park with all these people. You were there too. I tried to get to you, but you left with a man. I thought the dream stood for the choice you had to make, between life and dead."

"I remember. The man was my father. I went with him, and was reunited with my family. But Sarah, your mother came to the door, and explained to me that I could never see you again if I stayed with my family. I didn't want that so she helped me get back. She told me she got many prayers to help me get back."

"You saw my mother?"

"Yes, and she told me to tell you that she loves you, and is always watching out for you." The nurse entered with breakfast and they ate in silence. Sara saw notebook and picked it up.

"B? What is this?"

"When you were in a coma I wrote a poem. It’s actually a lyric of a beautiful song I once heard. You can read it if you promise not to laugh."

"I will never laugh at anything you don't want me to laugh at." Sara started to read. When she finished she had tears in her eyes.

"B? Do you mean what you wrote?"

"Yes I do. I will be by your side forever. I love you"

"I love you too."

The week passed with no further complications. The doctors were surprised at Sara's quick recovery, but Brighton wasn't. He knew Sara was special. As soon as Sara had left the hospital they all went home. Brighton and Sara hadn't told anybody about their dreams.

Maxwell had tried to call Niles and CC, but they weren't at their hotel in Miami. The hotel said they had left after a couple of days, and had left no address where they were going. Maxwell wasn't too worried about those two.

They had arrived at the mansion, and since Niles was still on vacation Fran was unpacking Maxwell’s stuff. She had almost finished unpacking when she found a little blue box in the suitcase. She opened it and saw a beautiful diamond ring. She sat down to think. Could it be? Could Maxwell want to marry her? She decided to go down and ask.

She entered the office.

"Hi honey. What have you been up to all day?" Maxwell motioned for her to sit on his lap, and she did.

"Oh I've been unpacking the suitcases. And I found some thing very interesting." She showed him the ring.

"Damn, there goes my surprise. You see, I wanted to propose the last night of our vacation, over a romantic dinner. Due to Sara's stay in the hospital I couldn't so I was just planning how to do it. But I guess there could be no better moment then now." He made Fran stand up and took the ring.

"Fran, I can't describe what you did for me and my family. And I love you with all my heart. Will you marry me?"

"Off course. I love you." Maxwell put the ring around her finger and stood. They kissed very passionately.

Niles and CC had started their vacation in Miami. Niles thought it was ok, but CC thought it was too crowded. So Niles suggest to go to a deserted island, as a joke, but CC thought it was a good idea. They took a plane and went to the Caribbean.

They had a wonderful time together and on the last night Niles finally got the courage to propose. CC said yes and suggested to go to Las Vegas to get married right away. Niles thought it was ok, because they were in love.

So they went to Las Vegas and got married. Then they went home. The Sheffields weren't supposed to be home in a week so they would have the house to them selves.

They entered laughing and kissing.

"Welcome home Misses Thompson."

"Welcome home Niles." They put down their bags and went into the kitchen. There sat Fran, reading a magazine.

"Hey guys. How was your holiday?"

"What are you doing here? You weren't supposed to return in a week."

"Sara got very sick, and as soon as she was out of the hospital we came home. That was two days ago. We tried to call you but we couldn't reach you. Where were you?"

"Oh here and there. We got bored and went to the Caribbean. After that we went to Las Vegas."

"We got married. Can you believe it? I'm Misses Niles Thompson." Niles and CC hugged each other.

"Wow, congratulations. Me and Maxwell are engaged too."

"Congratulations to you too." Niles went upstairs to unpack, and CC and Fran talked about the holidays they had.

"So what happened to Sara?" CC was surprised to say that she actually was worried for the girl.

"She had a disease where the brain was killing her from the inside out. She got a medicine and went into a coma. Then she got a heart attack. She had to stay in the hospital for a few days, but she's ok now. She has to rest a lot though."

"Wow, looks like you could use another holiday. Where's she now?"

"Upstairs with B I think. Why?"

"I want to see her." CC left and went upstairs.

CC knocked at Sara's door. No answer. She knocked at B's door.

"Enter." Brighton and Sara sat on the bed, Sara in between Brighton's legs.

"Hi CC. How was your vacation?"

"Ok. Niles and I got married, look." CC showed them the ring.

"It's lovely. congratulations."

"Meanwhile look at you. You had a scary vacation. Coma, heart attack."
"Yeah, but I'm ok now. A little tired but ok."

"I just came here to see how you were, I'm going to Niles now."

"Ok, see you later." CC left.

"Baby?"

"Yeah?"

"Just laying here makes me feel so happy."

"Me too. Everybody's happy, and healthy."
