CC drives down the highway, top down, with the wind in her hair. She can't wait until she gets to her cabin. She bought it around the time Nannyfine moved in. She goes there for a month every summer. No one of course knew she would go but she really didn't care. She pulled into the driveway and looked at her one bedroom place. Hers. A place where she could go to think. Something she didn't have to share with Maxwell, Niles, the kids, or...Nannyfine. She smiled at her place and a month of peace and quiet.
She walked around to the trunk and pulled out a couple of suitcases and closed it. She entered the cabin or screen porch and set them down and went back out to get another suitcase and a make-up case. The kitchen was all white, the stove on the right and the refrigerator on the left. A little island straight ahead. Her bedroom has a queen size bed, dresser to the right, and a nightstand by the bed. The bathroom was much bigger, there was a glass wall that blocked the shower but it didn't go all the way around. There was a big marble Jacuzzi tub and two marble sinks and a toilet. In the dinning room, there was a small round table to eat at with CC's favorite flowers on it, African Violets. There was a tv, a blue checkered couch and chair in the living room. The whole wall facing the lake was windows. When you turned to the left it was like another little room with wicker furniture and a desk for her laptop. The patio had a built in bench, a couple of wooden deck chairs and an umbrella table. Then There was a dock going out along the lake. On the dock was her jet ski, speedboat, and her sailboat. She loved the sailboat. She could go out in the middle of the lake, just looking at the sunset, quiet, peaceful, being her own self, no one judging her. A place where she can be her own.
Little did CC know that when she went into the house a limo pulled up next door to a 3.5 million dollar house/cabin and piled out the....Sheffields, Fran, and Niles. They all got out and looked up at the three story house. They couldn't believe they were here. The house was beautiful. They all walked in and just gasp at the beauty of it. (To big to describe, just picture it yourself.) Then they all went to do their own thing.
CC went into the kitchen and looked in the refrigerator because she was hungry, it was empty almost. She went out to the car but forgot her scarf. She had changed into a short white skirt and tight sweater. She normally didn't wear clothes like this but she wasn't at work.
Fran looked in the refrigerator and there was nothing in there.
"Hey Mr. Sheffield!"
"Miss. Fine you do not have to yell. I was right behind you."
"Sorry, but I thought we all could go to the store and pick out what we want to eat, there is nothing in here"
"All right."
Everyone was getting their coats and Niles walked out. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw her. The most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Everything around him became hazy. He didn't see that it was CC because she had a scarf around her head and sunglasses on. He saw the woman walk to her car and drive off in the opposite direction. What broke his trance was everyone coming nosily out of the house.
CC walked in the store and wiped off her sunglasses and grabbed a cart. She noticed some of the stairs and smiled, knowing she could still attracted attention.
The Sheffield's walked in and grabbed a cart and started throwing unhealthy food in there. Niles just walked ahead and saw the same woman without the scarf. She was looking at some fruit. All he could think about was how gorgeous she was. He followed down her frame to notice he curves. He finally turned around and saw he wasn't the only one who noticed her. Some men around her, Brighten (typical teenage hormones), and Max (which was kind of shocking). Fran, Maggie, and Gracie just glared at the woman, not even realizing who the woman that was getting most of the men's attention. Fran was the first to speak.
"You know its women like that, that gives us plain women a bad name."
"What's she doing that is so wrong?" ask Gracie
"Well, she is wearing those short skirts and tight sweater. Probably tons of make-up. I know I couldn't do that." said Fran. Everyone was walking out with bags of food and other stuff, when they noticed the same woman getting in a mustang next to the limo. She sped away and Fran, Maggie, and Gracie shook their heads in disbelief, while the boys slobbered over the leaving woman. When they arrived back to the cabin they noticed the woman getting the rest of her groceries out of her car. 'Oh great, thought Fran, now I have to get by with another woman in Mr. Sheffield's life.'
CC took the rest of her groceries in and put everything away. She decided to take a nice swim. She got into her bikini, which she hasn't worn one sense, forever. She grabbed her towel and tanning lotion and headed out to the edge of the dock, where she started to put on her tanning lotion.
Niles, Max, and Brighten stood transfixed as this gorgeous woman that was a total mystery to them, watch her put tanning lotion on her long slender legs. Meanwhile, Fran Maggie, and Gracie went outside in their swimsuits to the dock to try and get a look at this woman. They couldn't so they gave up and ask the guys to drive the speed boat but not even Fran in a skimpy bikini could get his attention. Finally they all went water skiing.
CC fell asleep for about an hour and woke up, then jumped in the water. She loved swimming, it was her favorite thing besides sailing. She heard a speed boat next door, she decided to get out.
Niles, Brighten, and Max saw the woman getting out and just stared. When the woman looked up, their jaws dropped. They couldn't believe what they were seeing. CC Babcock!
"CC!"
"I can't believe I checked out Miss. Babcock! Ewwww!" said Brighten
"What are you guys gaulking at? Not that woman again?" asked Fran
"That woman turned out to by Miss. Babcock!" said Niles is disbelief
"What?!?" yelled Fran, Maggie, and Gracie
"Miss. Babcock was the lady in the store and she is staying next door in that cabin."
"I can't believe it was her. Miss. Babcock actually wore that kind of stuff." They looked on as she walked away and disappeared into the cabin. They all shook their heads and walked into the house.
CC walked in and dropped her towel in the bathroom and went in her room to get some clothes. She went into the bathroom and turned on the water to soak in the tub. After her long bath, she got dresses in jeans, white halter, brown knee sweater coat, did her hair, and went to make dinner. After CC ate her chicken and rice, she went over to her desk which was facing the window and the window was facing the Sheffield's place. She put on her designer black framed glasses and she emailing back Maxwell, having no idea that he was getting online just next door.
Maxwel was getting online when he noticed CC was online. He was a little embarrassed that he checked out his business partner but he did have to admit she looked gorgeous.
BroadwayMaster: Hello CC and how is your vacation?
SassyBlonde: Its going ok and how is yours?
BroadwayMaster: We are having fun. Where did you go anyway?
SassyBlonde: I went to this cabin I own on a lake.
BroadwayMaster: I didn't know you owned a cabin.
SassyBlonde: I bought is about three or fours years ago.
BroadwayMaster: Well, that's good. You need to relax I mean with this play and stuff going on.
SassyBlonde: Yeah we all needed a break. Well I think I better go.
BroadwayMaster: All right CC Good-bye.
SassyBlonde: Good-bye
Max signed offline right after CC did. He got up from his desk and was headed to the lake where Fran and Maggie were but then he saw CC in the window. He did have to admit, she was no longer the chubby brunette he had hired some odd years ago. Maybe he should take CC on a date sometime. Then Niles walked in and saw what he was staring at. Maxwell kind of forgot about Niles. He knew he had feelings for her still and that she still had feelings for Niles. 'Besides I love Miss. Fine, even though I will probably wait a while till I admit it to her though. What if it doesn't work out'. Max walked out to the dock and sat down next to Fran and smiled at her.
CC signed offline and looked for the play she was writing. She was going to write a little more. It was mainly about Fran and Maxwell and their relationship. She was having writers block when she looked up and saw the Sheffield's next door. Her mouth dropped but she began to be angry. She couldn't believe they were right next door. She thought she was going to get a little peace but not with them right next door. She got up and stopped over to the fence that separated the two yards.
"Miss. Babcock, what are you doing here?" asked Niles playing dumb.
"I thought you guys were going to Paris?"
"We were but then Miss. Fine suggested we go here."
"I should have known."
"We have the same right to be here as you."
"I know, its just, I came here to get away from you, Nannyfine, Maxwell, his kids, and mainly work. Wait, how long have you guys been here?"
"Not long."
"Good." CC was about to walk away when Niles called out.
"You know a bikini isn't for everyone."
CC turned around, glared, and stomped back into the cabin. For the rest of the day CC avoided going outside at all. She couldn't believe they saw her in a bikini. After a while CC changed into her pajamas and went to sleep.
Niles couldn't sleep. He kept tossing and turning, trying to get the picture of CC out of his mind. He looked at the clock and it was almost six in the morning. He put on his robe and went outside. He looked out onto the lake and watched the beautiful sunrise. He looked over and saw CC, knees curled up to her chest, and her sitting on the bench on the edge of the dock, drinking coffee. He walked around the fence and walked up to her.
"This seat taken?"
"No sit."
CC straightened herself out and Niles sat down. There was silence for a while until Niles broke the ice.
"So, you come here every summer?"
"Yup, I love it here."
"It seems very peaceful, except for the brats next door to our house."
"Yeah, I was going to get that house but it was to big for one person, plus I heard those screaming kids."
"Yeah, they get pretty rowdy."
"Yeah."
"You know what this lake reminds me of?"
"What?"
"The summer you, I, Max, and Sara spent at the cabin."
"You know it kind of does."
"Babs?"
CC laughed "You haven't called be that in a while."
"Yeah, anyway, what ever happened to us?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, what happened to our relationship? Maxwell told me once, he always thought we would get married one day."
"Well, people change. They grow out of each other."
"Yeah, I mean we can't get along anymore."
"Yeah right."
"Well, I better start breakfast. They can't cook remember. Do you want to come over
for breakfast?"
"No thanks."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"All right. See ya."
"Bye." Niles walked away and back into the Sheffield house.
CC stared out into the water thinking about what happened that last summer CC and Niles were together.....summer 1981. At 21 CC and Sara screamed when two immature 28 year old Niles and Max dumped cold water as they tanned. Sara and CC sat up and glared angrily at Max and Niles who were rolling on the ground laughing. CC and Sara stood up and walked to the dock and sat back down ignoring them both. Sara and CC couldn't believe that Niles and Max would do that. They are both 28 years old and with careers. Just then, Niles and Max both came up, picked them up and threw them over their shoulders.
"Niles put me down, you are too old to be acting this immature!"
"Yeah, come on Max, put me down!"
"Now listen ladies we are not immature and were NOT old!" said Niles
"Yeah now you girls are going to get dunked!"
Niles and Max threw CC and Sara in the cold lake water. Sara and CC screamed as they went in. Max and Niles laughed and jumped in the water next to them. CC crossed her arms and glared at Niles.
"Oh don't give me that look. You could never stop loving me no matter what I do."
"Yeah, Yeah, if you weren't so cute and so good in a few places I would hate you."
CC wrapped her arms around Niles and Kissed him with so much passion. Max and Sara stared in awe. Present day.....CC realized she had been sitting there for an hour. It was 8 o'clock. CC got up, straightened her robe and walked towards the house. Nannyfine was out and yelled out to her.
"Hey Miss. Babcock, you wanna come with us out on the boat?"
"I don't think so."
"All right."
CC walked in the house to go take a shower. A moment before she entered the shower she heard a speed boat next door and decided to leave the door that led to the outside from the bathroom, opened. You could see right through the door and in the bathroom but sense they were gone, it didn't matter. She took off her clothes and hopped into the shower and started to sing.
Niles was cleaning up a little. He didn't go on the boat with everyone. He then heard a beautiful voice next door. He looked out the window and his eyes widened. He saw CC naked in the shower. He didn't turn away. He thought she was beautiful. Heck, he knew she was always beautiful. He didn't know how long he was standing there watching but she was getting out. He turned away so she didn't see him. He went and changed in his swimtrunks. He then went outside and jumped in the water.
CC got out of the shower and changed into her bikini but put on shorts and a T-shirt over it. She was going to go on the speed boat and have lunch on there. She saw Niles swimming and called out to him.
"Hey Niles!"
"What do you want?"
"Well, no need to be mean. I was just going to see if you wanted to come on the speed boat with me. Do you?"
"Why not."
CC went inside to get the basket full of food and wine. Niles got the boat ready and stuff. When CC came back out Niles was lowering the boat, CC noticed his muscles flexing. She broke her trance and walked up to him.
"You ready to go?"
"Yup, Let's go."
CC hopped in the boat with the help of Niles and then they backed up and went off. CC was driving the boat when she stopped.
"Why did you stop?"
"This is my favorite spot, its deep so we can swim, there are no houses or cabins, and no one comes around here."
"Oh."
CC and Niles ate their lunch, chicken salad, a slice of pie, and wine.
"This food is great, who cooked it?"
"I did."
"No really who?"
"I did, I can cook."
"Apparently."
After CC and Niles ate their lunch, they decided to go swimming. CC took off her shorts and T-shirt, Niles watched her and stood transfixed but it broke when she jumped in the water. Niles took off his shirt and jumped in after her.
"I love swimming."
"Yeah me too."
Niles ducked under the water and swam around and started to pull on CC's legs.
"Niles stop!" said CC laughing
They were both splashing each other and then got out. They sat on the edge of the board thing on the back of the boat with their feet in the water.
"You know I was kidding about the bikini thing. You look beautiful."
"Well, thanks."
They looked at each other for a brief moment and then kissed each other like they did when they were younger. They sat kissing for a while. They didn't even hear the other speed boat come up and stop till they heard a loud clearing of someone's throat. They broke away and looked up to see the Sheffield's and Fran just stood there in shock but
Max just smiled. He was glad for both. Max some how always knew that they would get back together someday, even if it was not for a long while, they would eventually find each other again.
"Its about you two got back together again."
"Again?!?" said Fan in shock
"Yes, again, I will explain it all later."
The speed boat sped off and Niles and CC just looked at each other, then away. They both got up and back into the boat. CC started the boat and they were off. Halfway
Back CC stopped the boat and turned it off.
"Why did you stop?"
"We need to talk."
"OK."
"About what happened back there."
"If you wanted to forget about it that's fine."
"No, Niles I still do love you. We can forget about what happened years ago. But if you did that just as like a joke, stop now. I can't take to be tricked like this."
"CC I love you, I always have and what happened back then was then and I am sorry." CC threw herself into Niles's arms and kissed him. When they pulled away they smiled at each other and went back to her cabin. When they got there, Niles put up the boat, then picked up CC and ran to the dock's edge. The Sheffield's watched in amusement.
"Niles do not throw me in! You did this once and now you are too old. Plus I have clothes on!"
"Nope, your going under!"
Max got an idea and picked up Fran and threw her over his shoulder.
"Mr. Sheffield."
He went to Niles's side and looked at him. They looked at each other and smiled and threw them in. They screamed when they were thrown in. When they came up and out of the water, they glared at both of them and just walked away.
"Come on, it was just a joke!" yelled Niles
CC went into her cabin and Fran walked back into the house.
CC and Fran didn't come out till dark. Fran forgave Max but CC just got something from outside and went back in. Niles followed her in. He really never saw the inside, except for the bathroom. He saw her sitting on the couch surrounded by tissues.
"Look, it was just a joke."
"Its not that....sneeze,sneeze, I have a cold. I have been asleep most of the day."
"Oh."
Niles walked over and sat down and put his arms around her.
"So you forgive me?"
"Yeah I do."
He kissed her forehand and winced at the heat. He put his hand on her forehead and felt she was running a very high fever. He picked her up, found her bedroom, and set her down on the bed.
"Niles, now is hardly the time." said CC with a smile
"Don't worry, I'm only putting you in here because you are sick." CC frowned and wined a little.
"Don't give me that look, you used to do that everytime you wanted to...."
Niles peeled back the robe and saw what she was wearing, skimpy tight lace shorts and a tight tan lace blue pajamas. He had to try to forget about what he was seeing. He then set her under the blankets and covered her up. Niles went, got a rag, and wet it with cold water. He went back into the bedroom and sat next to her and put the rag on her forhead. CC moaned in her sleep and whispered.
"Niles don't leave me."
"I won't baby, I won't."
The next morning Niles woke up and CC was sleeping on his arm. He gently removed her and placed her back under the covers. He went into the kitchen and started to make them breakfast. He cooked eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. He couldn't find any bacon or any other kind of meat for breakfast. CC woke up and wondered into the kitchen.
"Hey."
"Hi, I made you breakfast."
"Thanks."
CC and Niles sat down and ate their food.
"Do you feel better?"
"Yes, very much."
"I couldn't find any bacon or sausage."
"I don't eat red meat or pork anymore."
"Oh, ok."
Then they washed the dishes.
"CC is it ok if I could use your shower? There are only two baths out of that whole house and I have to get up at like 5:30 to take one."
"Sure that's fine go ahead."
A couple of minutes must have gone by and CC got an idea. She took off her pajamas, snuck in the bathroom and into the shower. He was turned around, so, CC snuck up and snaked her arms around him and made him jump.
"Gosh you scared me."
"Good." said CC kissing the back of his neck, which sent shivers down his spin. He turned around and pushed her up against the back wall, lifted her legs and wrapped them around him. They made love for hours till they realized what time it was. They got dressed, kissed and went their separate ways.
The boys went out on the boat and Fran, Maggie, Gracie, and CC went swimming. Maggie and Gracie were in the water, Fran and CC were talking a little.
"Miss. Babcock, can I ask you what happened with you and Niles?"
"Well, we met in college, Sara and Max set us up on a blind date, we dated for three
years, we were talking about marriage, then Niles was found in kissing my best friend Rachel in bed and then I dumped him. The next time I saw him was when I come to for the interview to work for Maxwell. I just still hated him so much. If you can keep a secret, Niles, he was my first. You see I thought I could trust Niles and I felt so betrayed, I had trusted him. He tried to explain that she got him drunk and that he thought he was kissing me. I didn't believe him."
"Do you believe him now?"
"Yeah, I guess I do."
"Can I ask you another question?"
"Sure."
"If you love Niles so much, how come you always go after Mr. Sheffield? Were you
trying to make Niles jealous?"
"No, you see, Sara died of cancer and when she was about to die, she ask me to do her a big favor. She ask me to look after Maxwell and the kids for her. You see Maxwell is like a big brother to me and I was just protecting him. I know it sounds stupid but I just thought that you were after his money and not his heart, I know now you truly do love him."
"Thank you."
By the time they got done swimming, the guys came back. Fran, Max, and the kids went into the house. CC walked up to Niles and started to whisper in his ear.
"I believe you."
"Huh?"
"Well, I know it was years ago but I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so stupid and stubborn, we could be married with maybe a couple of kids."
"I forgive you. You know its now to late to have those kids and get married."
"Are you proposing?"
"Maybe......Maybe not."
"Oh you."
Niles and CC chased each other into the cabin.
Later that night everyone was around the campfire and eating smores. Niles had his arms wrapped around CC and was feeding her marshmallows. Fran and Max were talking, trying not to show their feelings, and the kids were throwing things at each other.
"Its just kind of hard to believe that Miss. Babcock and Niles had a past." said Brighten with a sarcastic voice.
"Well believe it, were going to have a future too." said Niles as he kisses CC
"Ewww, that is what a bedroom is for!" said Brighten
Niles and CC just smiled
"When are you two going to have a future?" asked Brighten talking to Fran and Max.
"Well, umm, ahhh." said Max stuttering
"We are just really good friends Brighten." said Fran in a calming voice and she turned smiled at Max and patted his knee.
"Yeah right." said Brighten under his breath.
It was a month later, they decided to stay another two weeks. CC and Niles were so much in love. Fran and Max were trying to hide their feelings from each other. Fran and CC get along so much better and have developed a friendship. Someone comes back to stir up some trouble in CC's life.
Everyone was out except CC, she stayed behind. She was making some lunch when there was a knock at the door. CC went to the door and she saw her old friend Rachel.
"RACHEL!"
"CC!"
"What are you doing here?"
"I know its been a while but I was going to visit you in New York but someone told me you were here."
"Who told you I was here?"
"A little birdie." CC looked at Rachel and raised her eyebrow. "Your father told me."
CC gritted through her teeth. "I'll have to thank him next time I see him."
"Now, CC I know you hate me but I have changed. Now who knows where that guy we fought over is now but forgive me. Please!"
"All right, I forgive you. By the way. His name is Niles and he is at the store."
"You two still together?"
"Well, I went to work for Maxwell and that's where he was. He is a butler."
"A butler? CC Babcock dating a butler?"
"I don't care about that."
CC and Rachel talked for about an hour and then the Sheffield's came home. Niles walked in and practically fell over when he saw Rachel.
"Niles you remember Rachel."
"Niles how are you?"
Rachel walked up and almost passionately hugged Niles. CC glared with jealously.
"Uh Rachel, its great to see you."
"Well, Niles you still look the same. Still handsome."
"Thank you and you look the same too."
"Why thank you."
"Well, now that we are all reacranted, why don't we go swimming." said CC
"Sounds like fun."
Rachel went to go get her suit on. CC just glared at Rachel.
"Why is she back here?"
"I don't know. She said she had changed and I believed her for about an hour until you came in. She was on you like overweight woman on cookies at a weight watchers convention." Niles laughed
"Don't worry she isn't going to try anything this time."
"Whatever you say Niles."
CC kissed him and then went to get her suit on.
Everyone was out swimming except Rachel. Rachel like to make an entrance said CC. Everyone liked her except Fran and CC. They say she flirts to much with Max and Niles. When Rachel came out, she was wearing a swimsuit that barely covered any part of her body. She sat down really close to Niles and Max and practically threw herself at them.
That night while CC and Niles lay in bed, they talked.
"I'm telling you she is after you again."
"Rachel is only trying to be nice."
"Yeah, you know I looked her up a couple of years ago and I heard she spent time in the mental ward for almost killing her co-worker. She's nuts!"
"Look those are probably just rumors. You can't believe what everyone says."
"Yeah, I guess your right."
"You know people say I'm crazy."
"Oh really?" said CC with a smile
"Yes, crazy about you." CC laughed and kissed Niles as she pulled him on top of her.
The next morning everyone, Gracies suggestion, they all go roller blading. Everyone was doing fine until they heard a crash. Rachel had "tripped" over something.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I think I can walk."
"No here I will help."
Niles pulled her up and wrapped his arm around her waist. She tried to walk but couldn't so Niles picked her and carried her back to the cabin while everyone else went off roller blading.
Niles set Rachel down on the couch and went to get an ice pack. Niles came back and took off her roller blades and inspected her foot. He then put the ice pack on it.
"Thanks Niles."
"Your welcome."
Rachel looked at Niles and smiled. Niles smiled back and when he did she kissed him. But then Niles pushed her away.
"What are you doing?"
"Niles come on don't you feel the same way about me?"
"No I love CC."
"Look Niles I'm sorry, I just thought you know."
"Its ok."
Niles left and Rachel just fumed, now she had to do something about CC.
When they returned Niles didn't tell CC about the kiss. He knew she would overreact. Niles went to the store and the Sheffield's went out on the boat. Rachel and CC were left alone. CC was cooking and had her back turned to Rachel, when Rachel came up and hit CC on the head. CC fell to the ground and Rachel grabbed her and dragged her into the living room. She closed the blinds and locked the door. CC had come to by now. Rachel was about to hit her again when she moved away.
"Why are you doing this?"
"You wanna know why? Ok, I'll tell you. CC we have been friends most of our lives.
But you had everything. The money, the great job, and the thing I wanted most, Niles. You knew I loved him but yet you went after him. Why? Why couldn't you just leave him alone. Why did you have to make him fall in love with you?!? You could have any other guy in this country! Why Niles! WHY!!!"
Rachel lunged for CC but CC moved. By now Niles came back and heard the commotion and was trying to get in. Rachel tried to shoot CC but she was too quick. Niles finally got in and wesled the gun out of Rachel's hand.
"CC are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
CC called the police and they came and took Rachel away. At the trial three weeks later, Rachel was sentenced to fifty years in prison.
Conclusion:
"I now pronounce you man and wife you may kiss your brides."
Niles lifted CC's vial and kissed her and Max did the same with Fran. A double wedding.
Nine months later....
CC and Fran just had three baby girls. CC had twins, Miranda Ann Babcock Niles and Courtney Marie Babcock Niles. Fran had a little girl, Joy Beverly Sheffield.
As for Rachel well, she is still in prison of course and now is a plaything of a big girl named Bertha.
