This is in response to Laurel's fanfic challenge. This is one of my favorite episodes, so I thought it might be fun to hear what Fran and Max were thinking during "the dance".

I don't own these characters, wish I did! No offense to the wonderful writers of The Nanny!

The Dance

Max looked at Fran lovingly. "You look lovely tonight".

She blushed and looked down. "Even with the hair?"

He smiled. "I like it. I can actually see over your head".

Fran looked deep into his eyes. "Oh, Mr. Sheffield, I'll never forget that you did this for me tonight."

Max returned her gaze. "Well, I know how much it meant to you." He held her tighter and twirled her around the dance floor. He couldn't explain the feelings he was experiencing towards her lately. He couldn't wait to see her each morning, and hated saying goodnight to her at night. She was creeping into his dreams. He knew there was no way he could be falling in love with her, yet he found himself being drawn to her, possessive of her. He hated it when she went out with any man. He looked down into her eyes. God, she was beautiful...funny, sexy, warm, loving. No, it couldn't be love...could it? He held her a little tighter, inhaling her intoxicating scent.

Fran felt Max hold pull her tighter and looked deep into his green eyes. She felt so lucky to be in the arms of this gorgeous, sexy man. She felt so close to him lately, more than just an employer, even more than a friend. She found herself taking extra time each morning to make herself look special for him, looking forward to seeing him sitting at the head of the table when she made her entrance. She was starting to have dreams about the man who slept down the hall from her. She thought to herself, "Oy, I could fall in love with this man so easily!" "Or am I already in love with him?" She shook off the thought. "Just enjoy tonight, Fran, you're in the arms of a wonderful guy, who cares enough about you to show up to make you look good." She laid her head down on Max's shoulder and let him lead her around the dance floor. She had a feeling that tonight was a turning point in their lives.
