Well I think this is my fifth story. I hope you like it…just remember these wonderful characters do not belong to me in anyway or shape. So if you like them then you can write a wonderful story too, but remember to have a disclaimer like this so you don't get sued! The story is once again about Fran and Max and commitment. Maybe with some help from someone I can write about Niles and CC?

The Man Always Changes

by

Why do you always do this to me Maxwell Sheffield? Fran wondered aloud as she thought of what she was going to say to him. She wondered how he would take it so instead she decided to write him a poem.

To the man with no heart

My eyes are like cameras
Every time I blink
I see snapshots of you
I say I love you in dreams,
But when I wake up I realize that you
Are a man with no heart
Some times I see you looking at
Me
I wonder why
For you have no heart?
I stand by and wait for the moment
When our hearts can cross
Our lips can meet
But then a change in you
And I realize that maybe its too late
For me to change you
I’ve dreamed of you
Kissing,
Holding,
Caressing
Loving me,
But then I see that you can’t
Because you have no heart….
Someday I wish you’d understand
That your love
Your heart
Means more to me than
Anything in this world
Please say that you love me too…

Miss. Fine

As she walked out of her bedroom so realized that she just put her heart on the line for a man who is a British cold fish. The song you’re as cold as ice played through her head. She had hoped he’d understand her feeling. As she approached the door she couldn’t decide what to do. Should she go in or slide under the door and leave? She drew closer and closer…she silently slid the tattered piece of paper under the door and left.

Val: Fran why are you so worried? I mean I thought shopping was your release?

Fran: Val I just have a lot on my mind.

Val: Like what?

Fran: Well, I wrote Mr. Sheffield this poem and I am hoping that I am not fired when I return home.

Val: What did you say?

Fran: I told him that I loved him…

Val: Wow that’s deep.

Fran: I know, hey look a SALE

Fran returns home later that day to see that no one is home so she goes up to her room. Her hands full of bags she walks in and not even noticing Maxwell was sitting on her bed. She drops the bags and stares into her mirror. Maxwell walks up behind her and turns her around…

Maxwell: Miss. Fine what is the meaning of this?

Maxwell takes out the poem written to him by her…I have a heart, and just because you can’t understand that I am scared doesn’t mean I don’t.

Fran: You don’t…do you know how many times I’ve cried from your hurtful words? How many times I wished I could run away and just leave you to your office?

Maxwell: Its not easy for me either…you in your beautiful skin tight clothes walking out with those other men. What should I do grab you? Make you understand…oh never mind

Fran: What grab me and what?

Maxwell: Kiss you, make love to you

Fran: What?

Maxwell: There have been so many times I wanted to hold you and be with you, but I thought I never had a chance!

Fran: How could you ever think that? I am over 30 and I am still here with you.

Maxwell: Yeah but you don’t look over 30.

Fran: Oh Mr. Sheffield

Maxwell: Please Fran call me Max.

Fran: Max that still doesn’t explain if you love me?

Max: It doesn’t?

Fran: No I don’t think it does….

Max: Well, then I better show you since everyone is gone for the day we could….

Fran: We could….

Max: Watch a movie

Fran: What???? Oy!!

Max: Kidding….

With that Max takes Fran in his arms and kisses and holds her like she had always dreamed about. Later that day the kids came home and Max had a special surprise for Fran.

Maggie: Hey Fran how’s it going?

Fran: Great!

Max: Miss. FINE!!! Kids, get in here

Fran/Maggie: Oy!

Fran and the kids walk into the living room to find it covered with red and white roses. The kids are dumbfounded…

B: Dad what is going on here?

Grace: Yeah it looks like a special dinner or something

Maggie (looks at Fran): I am so confused

Max: Tonight is a special night because this is the night that I will profess my love for Fran Fine from the rooftops…

Fran: What has gotten into you?

Max: Well to be honest….you!

Fran: I love you so much

Max (kids here’s fifty bucks go have a good time): I love you too…

That night they ate lobster and scones and cream as the talked of good times and new beginnings….

Max: Fran I am nothing with out you

I want to show you that I have a heart

I want to be with you forever

Love you for always

Will you marry me Fran?

Fran: Yes I will (tears running down her face).

The wedding was set for three weeks afterwards everything was set to go.

The wedding procession started everyone walked gracefully down the aisle waiting for the beautiful women in the white dress as she approached everyone was awe struck (even Max) Her beautiful white dress was backless. When she reached the alter Maxwell protectively held a hand over her back because he did not want to share her with anyone.

Priest: We are gather here today to join Maxwell Sheffield and Francine Fine in holy matrimony if anyone here objects speak now or forever hold you peace!

Niles glanced around…

Max’s Mother: I object…Maxwell you can not marry this tramp..!

Max: You can leave the wedding because this is the women I love, honor, and respect with all my heart.

Mother: Your making the biggest mistake.

Max: No you are because when we have beautiful children you will not be around to see them.

Max: Niles please escort her out of here old man…

Niles: It will be my greatest honor sir.

Priest: May we continue?

Fran: Yes please do!

Priest: Maxwell, do you take Fran to be your lawfully wedded wife in sickness and in health till death does you part?

Max: I do

Priest: Fran…

Fran: I do….

Priest: Ok can I finish?

Fran: No I waited five years for this….

Priest: Well, I guess I pronounce you man and wife…you may kiss the bride

They create a world of peace with one simple kiss. A kiss that could protect them from harms way. To think it only took one simple poem. Fran and Max walked arm and arm from the church ready for there honeymoon and the challenges of husband and wife.
