"Ms. Fine!" Max exclaimed, "Why did you allow Maggie to go out with Greg, again?" "I told you I did not trust Greg with my daughter!" "Mr.Sheffield, You said you would prefer her not to see Greg, but you didn't say she couldn't go out with him." Fran said in a non chalant way.
"Ms.Fine, honestly, you are as mature as Maggie in some things." Max said.
He reams her out for it, and it is nothing new for Fran. She is used to it."Max doesn't like her careless reaction. " As soon as Maggie comes in, you tell her to come see me, and because you are her example, both of you are forbidden to leave this house for 3 days." Max said.
"Mr.Sheffield, you can't ground me." She protests. "I think I just did, Ms.Fine." he said.
"I have a party to attend tomorrow!" Fran said, and she stomped her foot. "Well, Ms.Fine, guess you won't be going." he said. "Well, You are not being fair, Mr.Sheffield." Fran said.
"End of dicussion, Ms.Fine, perhaps now you will listen to me when I tell you something." he said. Fran begins to say something, but Max cuts heroff. " No, Ms.Fine, now go watch out for Maggie." he said. Fran storms out of the office. "He is mean," she told Niles. "Ms.Fine, I heard that." Max said. "Care to make it a week?" he asked.
"No, Mr.Sheffield." she said, with her hands on her hips. "Well, then stop pouting, and watch for Maggie to come in." he said.
Fran sticks out her tongue at him, but he didn't see it. Maggie comes in, and Fran tells her, "Your Father said we are both grounded for 3 days." "Why?" Maggie asked. "I let you go with Greg, and he is angry at us both." He said we are to come talk to him when you got back, let's go." she said.
They both go in his office. "Here we are, Mr.Sheffield," Fran said."Margeret, I don't want you seeing Greg again." "The boy moves too fast, and I think he isn't right for you." You knew it, and between you and Ms.Fine, defied what I said, so you are both grounded for 3 days. "he said.
"Dad, this isn't fair." "Greg is a nice guy, and he isn't doing anything wrong to me." she said. "Margeret, like I told Ms.Fine, end of discussion, no leaving the house for 3 days." Max said.
"Come on Maggie, your Father has laid down the law, and we need to accept it,"she winks at Maggie, and they leave the office. When Fran has Maggie alone, she tells her, " Look, he can't watch us all of the time, we can sneak out some." she said. "I don't know, Fran, what if we get caught?"Maggie said. "The worst that could happen is we would be grounded longer." Fran said. "I don't want to be grounded." Maggie said.
"I don't either, Maggie, let's play this out as we go, alright?" she said. They both pout around the house, trying to wait for a chance to make a move. They decide to go outside to talk a while. "Ms.Fine!" Max said. "You two get back in here!" he said.
"We are getting some air, Mr.Sheffield." Fran said. "Come inside." he said again. They do. "Boy, a girl can't get some fresh air."Maggie said. She goes upstairs. "Ms.Fine, don't even say it." Max said. "But," Fran tries to say, "No, Ms.Fine." Max said.
"Why don't you go up to your room, Ms.Fine?" Max said. "No, I won't." she said. Max starts to chase her, and she runs up to her room. "Ms.Fine, if you defy me, it is a week of not leaving the house." he said."Oh, alright, Mr.Sheffield, geez."Fran replied.
It is supper time, and max calls Fran and Maggie to come down for supper. They do, but they are both angry at him. Brighton makes things worse, he keeps teasing them. "So, Fran, Maggie, getting time off for good behavior?" he asked. "Shut up, Brighton", Maggie said. They begin to argue, but max ends it, "You two stop it this instant." "Brighton, if you are not careful, you will be grounded along side of them." Max said.
Brighton eats and is quiet then. "Mr.Sheffield, you never ground Niles, and he is always in trouble with you." she whines. "Niles is my butler, you are my nanny, Ms.Fine." he said. "Stop trying to get out of it, Ms.Fine, my mind is made up." he said.
Max gets a phone call. He then must head out for a meeting. "Ms.Fine, I must go for a couple of hours, for a meeting." "Don't leave this house." he said.
"Yes, Mr.sheffield", she whines. He leaves, and maggie and Fran give a high five, "It is time to have some fun." Fran said. "Ms.Fine, you know what Mr.sheffield said." Niles warned. "Niles, stop being a party pooper." she said.
"Cmon, Maggie, we have to get ready." Fran said. They both get dolled up, and Fran calls her date, and Maggie calls Greg. They get ready, and Brighton says, "So you two are going out when you are grounded." "Can't wait to see what Dad is going to do when he finds out." "You troll." Maggie said. "If you tell Dad, I am telling him about your prank last week." she said. Fran says," B- don't tell on us, you like me, right?" "Nothing personal, Fran, but Dad did say no going out for wither of you." "We know, B, but we know he is also being unfair." she said.
They leave, with the promise Niles nor brighton would say anything. "Maggie, we need to be back by nine, your father will be home in a hort time." Fran said. "Fran, we can't have much fun then." Maggie said. "well, atleast we can have some ice cream or something." Fran said." Their dates arrive, and they leave. The guys take them for a drive, and then they decide on the corner coffe shop.
They go in, and order. As they were sitting and talking, in walks Max and his investor for some coffee while they talk. Fran almost chokes on her drink. "Maggie, look, it's your Father." she said. They try and hide their faces with the menus. "How are we going to get out of here, now?" Maggie asked.
"I don't know, but we don't need for him to see us." Fran answered. Max was looking their direction, it doesn't click with him yet. He knows there is something familiar about the young boy sitting there. He focuses on his meeting.
"Maggie, let's try to make it to the ladies room." Fran said. "Is he looking?" Maggie asked. "No, this is our chance, and they rush to the restroom. The guys tap on the door to let them know the coast is clear, Max had left. They all head out to the car, but Max is watching. "Ms.Fine!" "Maggie!" "what have you to have to say for yourselves?" Max,asked. He had been waiting outside for them, he spotted them all along, but he was busy with his investor, and didn't want his deal to go wrong.
He sends Greg and Fran's date on their way. "You two are coming home now, with me." "Get in the car." he said. They do, Max reams them out all the way home. "You two are now grounded for two weeks." he said. "You must spend your evenings in your rooms, except for supper." he said.
"Mr.Sheffield!" she begins to say. "One more word, and it's 3 weeks, Ms.Fine!" he said. Maggie says nothing, she is upset, but she knows her Father is not giving in. They get home, and must go to their rooms. Max calls Fran in his office, "Ms.Fine, I am disappointed in you." "You are the children's example." he said.
"I am sorry, Mr.Sheffield, "May I go now?" she asks. "No, sit down." he said. She does. "I don't want to fire you, you are needed here, Ms.Fine.""We all have grown to love and appreciate you in our home." "I simply can't allow my nanny to go blameless." he said.
"You're excused." "No more defiance, Ms.Fine." he warns. "Yes, Mr.Sheffield." she said.
The two weeks are finally over, and Maggie and Fran are free to date, but they know not to defy Max anymore. Maggie was glad to get Greg out of her life, "Daddy, if a boy I am seeing causes me to break trust with you, then he isn't worth seeing." she said.
Max was happy his daughter was growing up. He wasn't sure about the nanny, tho. the end
