It was 3am and Max was having trouble sleeping, he turned over and watched his beautiful wife sleep, so peacefully. He was wondering what was going through her head at that moment. Was she dreaming about the babies? Was she dreaming about Max? Was she dreaming about what the following day would bring? And that was it, no one not even Fran or Max could anticipate what the following day would bring............
MAX: "Good morning gorgeous, did you sleep well?"
FRAN: "Good morning handsome, yeah I slept real well, what about you?"
MAX:(Thinking about how he was up almost all night staring at Fran) "Yes Darling, I slept wonderfully."
FRAN: "Well I am so glad because I have planned our whole day out and we have to get started real early"
MAX: "Oh really....Well what exactly do you have in mind for today? Going up to the lake for a relaxing afternoon?, Taking a drive up to the country?"
FRAN: "Uh...No actually I thought we could go shopping for the baby's room, you know I want to get this done before I am so big I cant even walk"
MAX: "Oh sweetie, you are only 6 months along, we have plenty of time before we have to worry about that, I was hoping just me and you could spend the day together relaxing, I even had Niles arrange a suit up in the country for us"
FRAN: "Oh Max please?, I mean pretty soon I am going to be so big I wont even be able to get out of bed, Cant we just do this today? I promise next weekend we will go up to the county"
MAX: "Oh alright, I suppose we can put off our day of relaxation for another week"
FRAN: "Oh Thank you Thank you Thank you.....This really means a lot to me"
MAX: "Anything for you Darling"
Downstairs at the breakfast table the usual chit chat was going on, Maggie and Brighton were arguing, Niles and CC were as always cracking jokes at each other and Gracie was figuring out more ways to over come her fear of death and darkness.
NILES: "Good morning Fran"
FRAN: "Good Morning Niles, Beautiful Day isn't it?"
NILES: (To CC) "Some one had a good night last night, too bad it wasn't you"
CC: "Oh shut up Mr.Clean at least I didn't make a living out of Washing underwear and toilet bowls.
NILES: "Well do you want clean water for your drink or not?"
FRAN: "Enough, you 2 are like a bunch fo 8 year olds.
NILES: (muttering under his breath) "Well excuse me for living"
CC: (Muttering under her breath) "Sorry for being such a burden"
FRAN: "Kids, me and your Father are going shoppign for the baby's room today, so you are all on your own.
BRIGHTON: "You sure you will be OK walking around all day with the twins coming and all?"
FRAN: "Honey, Your talking to a woman who once spent 9 hours in the shoe department at Loehmans alone, I'll be fine"
MAX COME WALKING IN
MAX: "Darling are you ready?"
FRAN: "Just a minute, You go ahead I'll meet you in the limo"
(Max has walked out the door, and Fran looks down and starts rubbing her rapidly growing belly.) "Hi Babies, This is your mommy talking, And I just want to quickly tell you guys to please be on your best behavior, I dont want you fighting, kicking and most of all, please hang in there until we come back, because I know this will be my last spending spree for a very long time..Thanks, I love you both very much...
MAX: "Fran are you coming or what?"
FRAN: "Oh yeah, sorry I am coming right now"
At "Baby Land Furnature for less"(Frans favorite baby store), Fran and Max are looking at the most adorable baby cribs and Things for the baby's room. At this very moment no one could predict how the next 10 minutes would change their lives forever.......
SALES LADY: (Over the microphone) "Attention customers, Baby Bassinets are on sale on isle 10"
FRAN: "ooooh ooooh Max ya here that? There's a sale, lets run over there before I have to punch some lady for the last one"
MAX: "Darling calm down, you dont have to do that anymore, your a wealthy woman now, and you can buy the most expensive crib if you want."
FRAN: "Oh yeah....Welll then I guess you wont mind spemding 2,000$ on that gorgeous white marble crib?"
MAX: "Oh well uh.....2,000$, now honey thats an awful lot of"(He stops dead in his tracks, and suddenly falls to the floor.)
FRAN: "Max whats the matter? Max.....Max....."(Screaming)"SOMEBODY HELLLLPPP...Oh Max whats wrong answer me, oh honey can you hear me? Come on please answer me"
SALES LADY: "Whats wrong with him?"
FRAN: "Call 911 right now....HURRY"
At the hospital, Fran is in the waiting room with Maggie, Brighton, Gracie, Niles, CC and Syliva. They still have no idea why Max collapsed in the store, and they dont know if he's OK, because they wouldnt let Fran in due to her pregnancy and the doctors or nurses wouldnt tell them anyway. They were all trying to comfort Fran who was hysterical.
FRAN: "MAX, MAX Whats wrong with him? Why arent the doctors coming out to tell us anything?"
SYLIVA: "Oh Frannie, He will be fine, Max is a strong man he will get through this.
They see the doctor walking down the hall with not the happiest of faces
FRAN: "Doctor Doctor, Hows my husband, what happened to him, please tell me....Please please"
DOCTOR: "Well it seems your husband suffered a serious heart attack, which is very unusual for a man his age. We have him stabalized now, but he is too weak to speak and we arent allowing anyone but immediate family in the intensive care unit.
FRAN: "Oh come on everybody, lets go see Daddy"
NILES: "Fran I am going to take the kids home, I dont think they wish to see their Father like that, You go ahead, I will send the Limo back for you."
FRAN: "No thats OK Niles I think I am going to be spending the night here with him."
NILES: "As you wish, goodnight"
FRAN: "Goodnight Niles"
In the hopsital room Fran is holding on to Max's hand, but he is not responsive, and there are just too many machines in the way to actually get to close.
FRAN: (Talking to a sleeping Max) "Oh max, What happened? I dont understand how you had a heart attack. But it happened, and you have to pull through for me. We have 2 babies on the way and I dont know what I would do if you werent there to see them grow up. Oh I know you probably cant hear me, but please honey, be strong, I know we can get through this together all you need is a little.............OH GOD
SYLIVA: "Frannie whats wrong?"
FRAN: " I think I just had a contraction......OH GOD HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE"
SYLVIA: Oh no, not now, your only 6 months, I'll go get someone..."
FRAN: "No dont, then they'll take me away. It's nothing, I'll be OOOKKKK, OK GO GET SOME ONE"
SYLVIA: (Screaming down the hallway) "SOMEONE HELP, MY PREGNANT DAUGHTER IS HAVING CONTRACTIONS"
FRAN: "Ma, a little louder maybe you can wake up the dead."
(The nurse comes walking in)
NURSE: "What seems to be the problem?"
FRAN: "Uh....I seem to be going into labor, but it's not possible, I am only 6 months pregnant."
NURSE: "I am sorry miss, But we are going to have to bring you up to maternity"
FRAN: "No I cant leave my husband, and he is supposed to be there when I go into labor, not laying in a hospital bed"
NURSE: "I'm sorry but there is nothing else I can do. The doctors will keep a close eye on your husband, and as soon as he wakes up we will inform him. Please have a seat in the wheelchair"
FRAN: (Talking to Max as they are wheeling him out) "Oh sweetie it's not supposed to be like this, you're supposed to be with me......
In the delivery room, Fran is screaming so loud the doctors are wearing earplugs, And the babies are only a short while from making their grand appearence, and Max is still sleeping in the ICU
FRAN: "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, MAKE IT STOP , THE PAIN.....AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH"
DOCTOR: "Mrs.Sheffield, you are going to have to calm down, the more you scream and carry on, the longer it will take."
FRAN: "LOOK DOC, YOU TRY SQUEEZING 2 BABIES OUT OF YOU, NOT TO MENTION TRY HAVING YOUR HUSBAND DOWNSTAIRS IN ICU RECOVERING FROM A HEART ATTACK WHEN HE SHOULD REALLY BE UP HERE."
DOCTOR: "OK Fran push 1....2.....3........., come on your are doing great push again 1....2.....3...... you almost got it.....One more time...... and............thats it!!! IT'S A BOY!!!Ok one more baby to come.....Lets go push 1......2....3.......and ITS A GIRL!!!!!! CONGRADUALTIONS, YOU HAVE 2 BEAUTIFUL BABIES, A BOY AND A GIRL......!!!
FRAN: "Oh my god....a boy and a girl......oh Ma look at them, they are so perfect. I just wish Max was here to share this with me.......
NURSE: "Fran, Someone is here to see you" (She wheels Max in)
FRAN: MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Max, I was so scared I was going to lose you...Oh thank god....
MAX: "Oh Darling I am so sorry I missed this"
FRAN: "Nevermind that, the important thing is your OK!!
NURSE: "Mom and Dad, would you like to hold your babies?"
MAX: "Of course"
FRAN: "Oh honey, isnt this just perfect? a boy and a girl"
MAX: "Yes Fran, I love you"
FRAN: "I love you too sweetie"
(Both babies Just start hysterically crying, and Fran and Max look at each other)
FRAN: "I guess our Relaxation day in the country is off for next weekend?"
