What If

It was a normal day at the Sheffield household. Fran still the nanny and Maxwell still running from commitment. Niles and C.C. still in love but afraid to let there self’s believe it. Maggie , Brighton , and Gracie still in school.

Today was a normal routine like day where Niles would cook breakfast and the family would all get dressed (except Fran who wore a bath robe), then they all ate and would have small talk. Maxwell would go to his office where him and C.C. worked on a new play. Niles would bring them lunch, but there was a phone call that would change Maxwell’s life.

Maxwell answered the phone "Hello?"

(Other end of phone line) "Yes is Maxwell Sheffield there?"

Maxwell "Yes this is him"

() "My name is Pierre Bouiver, I was told that you were……….were………. my father."

Maxwell just sat there in shock wondering if this was a joke.

Pierre: "I was just wondering if I could meet you soon because I am only in New York for a week or so."

Maxwell: "Sure I meet you at the Rainbow room on 45th street Friday at 4:00"

Pierre: "Thank you this means a lot."

Maxwell: "You’re welcome."

Maxwell hung up the phone but still was in shock.

Niles: "Sir are you okay?"

Maxwell still trying to make sense of what he was just told was just sitting there in his chair starring off into space.

Niles: "Sir" he said getting his attention this time

Maxwell: "Niles get me a whisky I am going to need it."

Niles: "Who was on the phone?"

Maxwell: "My son Niles my son."

Maxwell walked out of the room to go the front porch outside to think but of course Fran saw him a little worried she went to go she what was troubling him.

Fran: "uhhhhhhh…Mr. Sheffield... Are you ok?"

Maxwell: "No I just got off the phone with someone saying there my son."

Fran: "WHAT…. You have another son?"

Maxwell: "Not that I know of no it was a shock to me too."

Fran: "How long have you known?"

Maxwell: "I just found out an hour ago."

Fran: "Are you going to talk to him again or not?"

Maxwell: "Yes as a matter of fact Friday at 4:00."

Fran: "That’s good because I would want to meet my father in person also."

Maxwell: "That’s the thing I am not sure if this is just some cruel joke or the real thing."

Fran: "Well just go talk to him and we can work that out later."

Maxwell: "Thanks for the help Miss Fine I am going to head to bed now I am going to sleep on it."

Fran: "Night Mista Sheffield."

Maxwell: " Goodnight Miss Fine."

Friday was coming fast it was Thursday now. Maxwell was really nervous about meeting this person saying to be his son.

It was now Friday now Maxwell was really worried about "What if this is my son" "Why did no one tell me I had a son sooner" " What am I going to do if he thinks I knew but never wanted to meet him" " I hope he doesn’t think I am a horrible person"

Niles was driving Maxwell to the Rainbow Room , he saw how nervous he was. When they go to the Rainbow Room Nile said "Good luck" to his boss.

When Maxwell got up to the 5th level of the building he was sweating badly.

Maxwell got a table for two and ordered a water because he was 20 minutes early.

Pierre showed up at 3: 50 and asked the hostess if anyone bye the name Maxwell Sheffield was here yet. The hostess escorted Pierre to his fathers table the both just stared for like a minute trying to find something to break the ice. Until Maxwell said something.

Maxwell: " So………………how are you doing?" unsure of what to say

Pierre: "Well I am a little worried my concert won’t be on time but other than that pretty good and you?"

Maxwell: "Good, what kind of concert?"

Pierre: "I am a lead singer of a band called Simple plan"

Maxwell: "Wow, so how’s that going?"

Pierre: "Well I living off of it so I guess its pretty good, so what do you do for a living?"

Maxwell: "I am a Broadway producer."

Pierre: "My mother is in that kind of business."

Maxwell: "Who is your mother?"

Pierre: "Susan Bouiver, you probably don’t know her she told me you were her donor.

Maxwell: "Oh I was just making sure. So did you have a father growing up?"

Pierre: "Well my step father left my mom for some other woman when I was about 13, so yes for most of it just it didn’t feel like I did. Me and my mom did better off without him.

Maxwell: "Well I am glad that you did okay. I have to go to a meeting soon I will have to catch your show sometime when is it?

Pierre: "Ya I have to leave soon too , its tomorrow at 6:00 and Sunday at 6:00.

Maxwell: " I will definitely stop by to check it out. It was a pleasure to meet you Pierre.

Pierre: "Same here ,Dad, if I am allowed to call you that?"

Maxwell: " If you like calling me that I am fine with it."

Pierre : "See you soon , Dad , bye."

Maxwell: "Bye, Pierre."

Maxwell realized that was easier than is expected it to be to meet his son he just meet for the first time. From then on Maxwell and Pierre were very close, and Pierre was also very close to Maggie , Brighton and Gracie. Pierre helped Maxwell realize that he was hurting Fran by what he was doing to her. So Maxwell purposed to her and she accepted. Pierre would visit every month about to hang out even though his busy lifestyle was hard to find time for barely anything he was great full that he had a family to turn to besides his mother that is doesn’t care for Pierre because of what he did with his life. So Pierre ,Maxwell, Fran , and the kids are happy now.
