5.3 The Bobbi Fleckman Story

written by: Diane Wilk

Our Comments Fun Stuff

Fran comes downstairs, still in mourning over the screwed up First Date.

Brighton comes in with the news that he won a radio contest and the prize is Brian Setzer making his music video at the Sheffield home.

The producer, Bobbi Fleckman, arrives to check things out for the video. She bears a striking resemblance to someone we know.

Bobbi goes into the office to get Maxwell to sign some papers. Turns out they are old friends from London days.

But when Fran peeks through the door, she sees them kissing, which was more than either of the girls had expected.

Bobbi and Max start reminiscing and C.C. wants Fran to go in to break them up.
C.C.: Don't you see, Bobbi Fleckman is an amalgamation of the two of us. She is everything he is searching for in a woman. Beauty, brains, and a slut!

Sylvia commiserates with her daughter.
Fran: I'll tell you, one disastrous little date and Mr. Sheffield's already looking at someone else! I mean, if I thought that he liked older women, I would have told him the truth.

Sylvia tells Fran not to give up. Then when Bobbi's assistant mistakes Fran for Bobbi, it gives Fran an idea.

The night of the video shoot, Sylvia gets rid of Bobbi and Fran takes her place.

During a break in the shoot, Fran sees her chance to talk to Maxwell. She follows into the office and tells him that it's over between them.

Fran/Bobbi is relieved, and gives him a little goodbye kiss. But the kiss turns into something more.

Max: Bobbi forgive me, I was under the impression that we were just good friends.
Fran/Bobbi: Wha...t? Are you telling me there is nothing between us whatsoever?

But then Mr. Sheffield finds the Loehmann's tag on the back of her dress, figures it all out, and decides to have some fun.
Max: Oh Bobbi, forgive me. I don't know what came over me. All of a sudden I felt something. Something I've been fighting ever since I laid eyes on you twenty years ago.

Fran/Bobbi: But I thought that you said we were just friends?
Max: Oh that? That's just a line I use when I feel a woman's getting too close. I've used it on my nanny thousands of times.

Max: I think I love you.
Fran/Bobbi: No, get away from me, leave me alone.
Max: Call me crazy, call me impulsive, but will you marry me?
Fran/Bobbi: Ooohhh-- how can you propose to... ya know, there is a band waiting in there and I do have a rabbi on speed dial...
Max: Miss Fine...
Fran: You knew it was me??

He explains that he knew it was her all along and he was kissing Bobbi to thanks her for talking to Mick Jagger about replacing Elton John in his show.

Fran realizes that perhaps Sylvia holding Bobbi captive in the bathroom is not a good thing....
