Fran and Max arrive home from Kooristan
Max: Here we are, home sweet home.
Fran: Thank you so much for coming all the way to Kooristan just to say you love me, Max. Now you haven't said it in New York, so say it again.

Fran: Hi everyone, we're home and guess what, your father has something he wants to share with you all.
Max: I told Miss Fine I love her.
All: So what else is new?
Max: Oh yes, I didn't take it back.
All: Congratulations, that's wonderful news!

Fran and Max enjoy their newfound couplehood.

C.C.: Ya know Nanny Fine, I think it is so precious how you think Maxwell saying he loves you means something.
Fran: I think it's pretty obvious that he's not taking it back this time.
C.C.: Oh he's not going to take it back. He is going to drag this thing on and on and on till you get disgusted and die.

But C.C. is disgusted by their antics and is convinced that Max will worm his way out once again.

Fran imagines life in the future.
Old Fran: Oh Max, you know how happy you made me that you told me you loved me, but don't you think it's time we went on to the next level? I'm not going to be 69 forever.
Old Max: Miss Fine, oh Frannie, we just can't jump into this. I'm awfully worried about the children.

Max refuses to go to the party for the billionth performance of Cats with C.C.
Old Fran: Why don't you take your husband?
Old Niles: Oh I don't wanna go with her. One drunken stupor in 2006 and I'm still paying for it.

Max confides to Niles that he has bought a ring for Fran and makes Niles swears he won't say a word about it to her.

Fran: I goo.... I jew, I'm a Jew! I'm a Jew!!
No, no, no. I jew, I boo, I goo, I do.
I do? He does????

Niles: He do!
Both: Yahoo!!!

But he can't contain himself and he leads Fran through an elaborate game of charades until she guesses.
Fran: Eye goo, sounds like eye goo.

Fran can't wait to tell her mother.
Fran: I'm getting married!
Sylvia: Sorry Miss, ya got the wrong number.

Sylvia gets a call waiting beep and she hangs up on Fran to quickly spread the word all over Queens.

Fran is sure this is it when Max invites her out to dinner at the Rainbow Room and he wants her to bring the whole family along to share the evening.

That night the whole family gathers, ready to go. Niles even invites C.C. over.
Fran: Now listen everyone, when Mr. Sheffield springs it on me, I want you all to act as if you never heard it before, just act very surprised, be very convincing.
C.C.: Hear what?
(Niles whispers in her ear what.)
Fran (at her reaction): i.e.

But Maxwell doesn't come and everyone gets tired of waiting.
Fran: He'll be here. That man loves me, I feel it in my heart of hearts. (Grabbing Niles by the throat) Swear you saw that ring!

Finally, Max calls home and assures them he is on his way, he just has one more thing he needs to do.

Max: Well Sara my love, you know you'll always be in my heart. You were my first love, and you're the mother of our children and nothing can every change that. But, I've met someone very special and I love her a great deal. And the children are crazy about her. I think you'd like her. You know in many ways she reminds me of.... nobody you've ever met. I think you'd be very happy for us.

But when he leaves the theater, there are some ruffians waiting in the alley.

At home, it's growing even later and Fran is getting worried.
Fran: He'll be here Ma, he wouldn't do this to me.
So Fran goes looking for Max and finds him in the alley.

Max: I should have fought back harder.
Fran: No no no they say you never fight back, you just give 'em what they want. You don't argue, you don't get aggressive...
Max:They got the ring!
Fran: I'll kill 'em.

Fran: Oh Max, ya know it's all so sudden.
Max: Well will you?
Fran: What do you think?

Max: Oh Fran I wanted tonight to be the most romantic night of your life... There has to be....(searching in the trash for a suitable ring substitute) Fran, will you marry me?

Cherish

Cherish is the word I use to describe
All the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside
You don't know how many times I've wished that I had told you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could hold you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could mold you
Into someone who could cherish me as much as I cherish you

Oh, I'm beginning to think that man has never found
The words that could make you want me
That have the right amount of letters, just the right sound
That could make you hear, make you see
That you are driving me out of my mind
Oh, I could say I need you, but then you'd realize
That I want you, just like a thousand other guys
Who'd say they loved you with all the rest of their lies
When all they wanted was to touch your face, your hands
And gaze into your eyes

Cherish is the word I use to describe
All the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside
You don't know how many times I've wished that I had told you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could hold you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could mold you
Into someone who could cherish me as much as I cherish you
And I do cherish you
And I do cherish you
Cherish is the word
