| Fran is showing off to her mother and Val what will be her bedroom in seven short weeks. The ladies jump up on the bed and discuss the upcoming high school reunion Fran and Val have that weekend. | Max comes out of the bathroom and everyone is startled. Sylvia: I bet you weren't expecting three gorgeous gals in your bed. | Val and Sylvia leave and Max tells Fran he can't make it to her reunion that weekend and she'll have to go alone. |
| At the reunion, Fran runs into Ray Barrone, an old high school acquaintance. | Fran is surprised to find that all of her old friends are divorced. Naomi: Frannie, you were the smart one. Marriage is the surest way to ruin any relationship. So what's new with you? Fran: I'm engaged. | Niles is missing Miss Babcock and expresses himself in his dessert he prepared for dinner that evening. |
| Grace has a friend over who advises her that once her parents are married, Grace will become invisible to them. She seems to be right when Max comes in. Fran and Max: Hello darling. Grace: Hello, I'm here. Fran and Max: Sorry sweetie. Didn't see you there. | The girls leave and Max asks how the reunion went. Fran tells him about her friend's troubles. Fran: Who cares what television show you watch before you go to bed? Max: Exactly. Nightline. Fran: Or TV Land, whatever. |
| Fran: The important thing is that I'm going to wake up every morning with your arms around me like this. Max: Well, actually to be strictly honest, it will be more like this cause I prefer to sleep on the left side of the bed. Fran: Oh but that's my side. Max: Well not any more! Fran: But Jews always lie to the left of center. Max: Politically Fran, not posterpedically. | Later, Fran discusses her worries about her fight with Max. Sylvia: Darling trust me. Once you have children you'll be too exhausted to fight. You'll sleep wherever you land. |
| Fran goes in to apologize. Fran: The point is that is the bed that we're going to sleep on for the rest of our lives, the bed we're going to raise a family on, the bed... Max: Excuse me? Family? |
| Max says he just isn't sure he wants to have more kids. Fran: I want to experience motherhood. I want to know what it feels like to be pregnant. I want to wake up and throw up and be sick and not just because I opened up my Visa bill. | Grace and Mary Ann overhear the end of the fight. Fran: I wanna have a baby! Mary Ann: Uh oh. She wants a baby of her own. Once that happens, you'll get shipped off to some miserable boarding school. |
| Fran cries to her mother. Fran: He doesn't want to have a baaaaaby. Sylvia: Where is he? I'll kill him. | Niles helps Max realize that a baby wouldn't be so bad. Niles: You have three children already. Why can't Miss Fine be happy with that? Max: Because they're not to ours. Having a baby is one of those things that bonds a couple together. | Meanwhile, Grace is worried about being shipped off to boarding school and confronts Fran about it. They go in to talk to Daddy. |
| Fran: It's one thing not to want to have any more children with me, but now to send my youngest off to boarding school. Max explains that actually he had considered sending Grace to a cool summer camp. | Max: I want us to spend some time traveling the world together, eating in exotic restaurants, sipping champagne on beautiful yachts as they pull into foreign ports. Fran: Well I was thinking about a weekend in the Poconos with a complementary bagel breakfast, but once again, I'll compromise. Oh I guess it's okay if we wait awhile. I mean after all, you don't make a baby necessarily on the first time out. We're going to need a lot of practice. |
| Max: It's not that I don't want to have children with you it's just that we waited so long to be alone together. Anyway, you have a lot of time to have children, you're still so young. Fran: Oh c'mon--I mean, you've got a point. |
