Fran and Maggie are watching M-TV and enjoying the latest rock video by Tasha.

Fran thinks that she could write a hit song and is upset when Mr. Sheffield isn't supportive of her idea.

So she writes what she figures will be Tasha's next hit.
Hate my life,
I wanna be a wife,
I'm gonna take a knife
to your daddy!

To get the song to Tasha, Fran and Val dress up as maids for the hotel. Val turns on the vacuum and sucks up more than she bargained for.

The chaos brings out Tasha and her assistant. Tasha has a lot of angst and is anxious to get back in touch with the common man.

Fran volunteers to help her and takes her home. Mags and Grace are impressed anyway.

Fran sings her song for Tasha.
Are you blind or what,
Are you a man or a mouse?
I wanna keep my pride,
But can I still live in this house?
I want true love
my one real wish,
But instead I got you,
You cold British fish.

Tasha thinks the song stinks and Mr. Sheffield comforts her.
Max: How can you be so cruel? Do you have any idea what this poor woman's been through? Let's start with her being dumped by her fiancé. She has no job skills, I keep her on as my nanny and my children can practically vote!
But Tasha can use that kind of angst and so they become friends.

Mr. Sheffield worries about Fran and thinks she is spending too much time with Tasha.
Max: I miss you.
Fran: I'll call in sick.

Mr. Sheffield comforts her.
Fran: Maybe I'm not so special, maybe I'm not that creative, maybe this is as good as I get.
(there is a looonnnngg pause)
Insert nice sentiment here.
Max: Miss Fine, there is no one as special as you.
Fran: Oh Mr. Sheffield, you always know when to say something sweet.

The moment is broken when Tasha comes over. She senses Fran's happiness and tells her she can't use her as a muse anymore.

I Write The Songs
Words and Music by Bruce Johnston

I've been alive forever,
And I wrote the very first song
I put the words and the melodies together
I am music and I write the songs

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

My home lies deep within you
And I've got my own place in your soul
Now, when I look out through your eyes
I'm young again, even though I'm very old

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Oh my music makes you dance
And gives you spirit to take a chance
And I wrote some rock 'n' roll so you can move
Music fills your heart

Well, that's a real fine place to start
It's from me it's for you
It's from you, it's for me
It's a worldwide symphony
I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs
