| Niles comes in from Rollerblading, he's exercising trying for a new youthful look. | Fran is disgusted at this latest unreadable change in his attitude. Fran: Can you believe that guy? He sniffs my Snuggles and then he's out of here. That is it, I'm putting an end to this whole cat and mouse game. Val suggests she follow him to London to rekindle the passion they had shared in Paris. |
| Max announces he is off to London to talk to Celine Dion about appearing in one of his shows. Max: Anyway, I'll be gone two whole days. I'm going to miss you! |
| So she follows him to London and sneaks into his hotel room. (Just how she got in remains a mystery.) The reception she gets from Max is not what she hoped for. Fran: I thought when a couple's been together as long as we have, it would be nice to get away from the kids and work so that we can rekindle our romance. Max: What romance? | Max: Miss Fine, look, I'm suffering from jetlag and I don't want to say anything wrong because God knows, you'll never let me forget it. Fran: Well, what could you possibly say that's wrong? Max: First let's just get you your own room, shall we? Fran: My own room? Well, two seconds. There's a new world's record! Max: Look Miss Fine, I'm here on business, I just can't drop everything. Sure ya can. |

| Back at home, Niles is still working on his new youthful appearance, this time by dying his hair jet black which C.C. finds quite amusing. | Fran and Mr. Sheffield go to Celine's concert, but she won't commit to being in Max's show. | They arrive back at the hotel after their romantic day, ready for whatever. |
| Fran: Oh Mr. Sheffield...... But suddenly, she's alone. Where'd he go?? | Max: Miss Fine, I can't. I'm sorry. I just can't. Fran: Mr. Sheffield, is there something you haven't told me, something that might have happened in the Falklands? Max: No! Of course not. I'm talking about this. I'm talking about what we were about to do. It just all seems wrong. |
| Fran: Now I don't know if I'm coming or going. You keep giving me mixed messages. You act like you want me! Max: Of course I want you. You're a very beautiful, sexy woman. Fran: Ya know, now would be a good time to end this argument. | Max: Miss Fine, don't you see? Don't you see what we were about to do is a very serious step to take. You're not just a one night stand. Fran: Me? Oh yeah. No, of course not. Look Mr. Sheffield, ya know I always thought we were going to end up together, but if it ain't going to happen now, it ain't going to happen. |
| Max: I didn't say it will never happen. Fran: I think that my chances will only decrease as I slowly morph into Yetta! Four years! It's enough already. I can't take it anymore. It's too difficult. I'm getting out of here, I gotta get out of here. | Max: Look Miss Fine I'm not giving into my urges, the stakes are far too high. I'm a bloody gentleman after all. Just then the phone rings. | Max: Yes, what is it? Miss Fine, don't go. Fran: I'm sorry, I can't take anymore, it's over. Max: Niles just had a heart attack. |
| They arrive back in New York at the hospital and C.C. explains what happened. C.C.: There I was, waiting for a zinger and nothing. I even set him up again, I said, 'Don't make me get ugly.' But his eyes just rolled up into his head and he collapsed on the floor! | C.C.: Oh, oh, I killed him! It's my fault, oh don't leave me. But that wasn't Niles. |
| The doctor takes Fran and Max into see the real Niles and reassures them he will be fine as long as he cuts back on some of the rich foods. |
| At home, Fran stays to hold the house together. Fran: Well, let's just get something straight. I'm not staying here for you. While Niles is in the hospital, I just want to make sure the children have a home cooked meal. | Fran comforts C.C. too. C.C.: I know everyone thought Niles and I hated each other, but that's the only way I can have a relationship. When you really get to know me, I'm not a well woman. |
| Fran goes to visit Niles. Oh Niles, everything is such a mess. I wish you were awake so that I could talk to you about Mr. Sheffield. What's going on in that little head of yours? | What's going on is his little head is an Nanny alternate universe with a role reversal between Max and Niles. | Mr. Sheffield arrives and they agree that they can share their 'love child' Niles. |
| Fran: It really makes you think, doesn't it? How unpredictable life can be. Max: That's right. That's why you have to live everyday to the fullest. You never know when it's going to be your last. Fran: No. | Maxwell pulls the curtain for a little privacy. Fran: Oh Mr. Sheffield! |
| C.C. comes in to see Niles. C.C. Niles, I'm so glad your awake. How are you feeling? Is there anything I can get for you? Niles: Well, I would like another pillow. C.C.: Of course. And she pulls the curtain to go get him one..... |
A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square
(sung by Twiggy Lawson)
|
That certain night, the night we met, There was magic abroad in the air. There were angels dining at the Ritz And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square. I may be right, I may be wrong, But I'm perfectly willing to swear, That when you turned and smiled at me, A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square. |
The moon that lingered over London Town, Poor puzzled moon, he wore a frown, How could he know we two were so in love, The whole darn world seemed upside down. The streets of town were paved with stars, It was such a romantic affair, And when we kissed and said goodnight, The nightingale sang in Berkeley Square |
