| season five |
| 5.3 The Bobbi Fleckman Story | When Sylvia says "How I get any action from that chubby chaser, I'll never know!" the fork she's holding with her right hand jumps to her left hand. |
| new!! | 5.3 The Bobbi Fleckman Story | Watch Brian Setzer sign the autograph on the CD for Fran. He is holding the pen pretty darn far away from the CD case! |
| | 5.3 The Bobbi Fleckman Story | When Fran as "Bobbi" comes in the office to confront Maxwell, she crosses in front of the desk and we can see the back of her dress. There isn't a tag showing then, though Maxwell finds it hanging out soon after. Though, if there HAD been a tag showing it would have looked very odd and given away the joke. |
| 5.4 Fransom | Yvonne Scio plays Arianna--she reappears later in the season as Nigel's French girlfriend in 5.21 The Best Man. |
| | 5.4 Fransom | In the scene where the Fine women are planning Yetta's shower,
Fran says: "When you're a senior, taking X-Lax is like taking Ecstasy", she is
holding Chester, when the angle changes, Chester is sitting next to her.
|
| 5.4 Fransom | When the dognapper is talking to Fran on the phone, Chester's
paws are wrapped together so loosely that when he moves they just fall off. Cute! Don't want to hurt Chester! |
| 5.4 Fransom | Jeff the Cop is wearing the same tie that Maxwell wore in 4.3 The Bird's Nest, apparently he is more like Max than we thought! |
| 5.4 Fransom | When "Fran" and "Val" are driving down the street in the
ice-cream truck, you can see a blond woman driving (who doesn't look at
all like Val, she has straight hair) and a dark-haired woman sitting on
the passenger's seat, with again, a different hairdo than Fran. The
angle changes and Fran comes from behind Val, standing up. |
| 5.4 Fransom | Maxwell dives into the pool, fully clothed, and in the next coupla scenes, only his hair is wet. A quick stopover at the drycleaner's or what? |
| 5.4 Fransom | In the van, when the kidnappers first see Max coming, it's from the
right direction. But when Max actually appears, it's from the left. |
| 5.4 Fransom | Watch the dog carrier Fran is sitting on in the van. At the beginning of the scene, it is crushed fairly far down. As the scene goes on, it becomes "uncrushed" when Mr. Sheffield joins them in the van. |
| 5.5 The Ex-Niles | When Fran catches Niles eavesdropping at the door and grabs the Vinnie Barbarino glass from him, watch the glass. It switches hands back and forth several times during the remainder of that scene. |
| 5.5 The Ex-Niles | In the scene towards the end when Maxwell is rehiring Niles, watch Max's hands after he tells Niles he doesn't get a raise and Niles says "I'll take it". His hands jump right into his pockets when they are suppose to be down beside him. Then continue to watch them as he turns to Dr Joyce Brothers and says "Hello", when she says "Hello" in reply, his hands are back
down to his sides again. |
| 5.6 Decent Proposal | They used production folks as extras in this episode. Howie Preiser is the bellboy at the hotel when the family checks in at the Taj Mahal. Frank Lombardi is the dealer that calls security on Niles, and Andrew Mackensie is the waiter that tries to tell CC that the folks she is sending drinks to have had enough. |
| new!! | 5.6 Decent Proposal | In the hotel room scene where Fran is retrieving Niles' wallet from his pants pocket, when Niles throws Fran on the ground his jacket flips up exposing his back pockets. When Fran gets up, it is magically folded back down and she has to delicately lift it to get to his pockets. |
| new!! | 5.6 Decent Proposal | When Maxwell first enters Niles' room to discuss Miss Fine and Chevy Chase, the TV behind them is on. Later on in the scene, it is off. |
| 5.7 Mommy and Mai | As Sylvia is looking for Mai's letter in
her purse, she first takes out some bananas and then a jar, and she puts them
next to each other. Throughout the scene, the bananas can be seen on top
of the jar, on the table next to the jar, on top of the jar... |
| 5.7 Mommy and Mai | The new dress of Fran's that Mai 'borrows' and was supposed to be brand new, was worn last year in episode 4.22 No Muse Is Good Muse. |
| | 5.8 Fair Weather Fran | When Sylvia says "Who can remember numbers?" the fork on Fran's hand disappears. |
| new!! | 5.8 Fair Weather Fran | Rick Shaw got the honor of naming Ray Charles' character after his grandfather, Sammy. During the sixth season, his wife gave birth to Rick's second son... Jack Sam Shaw. Little Jonah Samuel Sheffield recieved the name as well. |
| 5.9 Educating Fran | When Max calls Niles on the intercom in the middle of the night, he pushes the middle button. When Fran comes down later and wants Niles, she uses the left hand button. |
| 5.9 Educating Fran | In the same scene, Max asks Niles for popcorn over the intercom and it is behind him on the counter. But when he was walking over to the counter, the popcorn was not visible. The camera angles are such that it is just barely possible that we just can't see it, but if you watch the corner of the screen as he walks by, there is a bottle of liquid soap sitting where the popcorn should have been. |
| 5.10 From Flushing With Love | In the montage, when Fran finds all her lipsticks are empty, she closes the mirror door to find Niles with scissors. In the reflection
Niles is holding them with his right hand, the camera switches to the real life angle and he's holding
them with his left hand. |
| 5.10 From Flushing With Love | In "Whine Cellar", when Yetta is conning Stanley out of money for Schmuey's bar mitzvah, Stanley says to Schmuey "Here this is from me and your Aunt Cookie." So, I would assume that Stanley is married to Cookie, wouldn't you? Now, we see Cookie at the Fine Family Reunion in Niagara Falls playing the spoons on her boobs. So that's who Stanley is married to! |
| 5.11 Rash To Judgement | In the scene at the drugstore when Fran is looking for something to
cure her rash, there are a couple of odd things going on in the background. First, you see an old man placing
his cart with Depends in it over to the side and then he walks off leaving his cart. Later in that scene, the cart and the old man are nowhere to be seen, but where the cart had been, now Mag's is talking to some guy. |
| new!! | 5.11 Rash To Judgement | This episode was completely different from Fran Drescher's original idea for it. The first draft of the script had Fran Fine being driven crazy by... you won't believe it... hemorrhoids. The producers said, uh-uh, no way and rewrote the entire episode. The most shocking scene at the original run through? Fran hopping into a large water fountain at the Michael Bolton party to cool her burning bottom. From Fran Drescher's own head. |
| 5.12 One False Mole | What ever happened to the 3 yellow pieces of paper
which Sylvia gave Fran in the Doctor's office? They were in Fran's right
hand while she was looking at the magazine and then they were gone! |
| 5.13 Call Me Fran | Max tells Fran, "I've never met your father - no one has." But he has, plenty of times. He had Passover dinner with him in "The Passed-Over Story." Not to mention going on a Carribean cruise with the Fines in "Ship of Fran's" & being snowbound in their apartment in "Schlepped Away." And Niles knows him pretty well too, having given him a massage in "You Bette Your Life." But I suppose Max was just exagerating to bolster his argument.
|
| 5.14 Not Without My Nanny | After the sultan enters Fran's room and they talk for a while, Fran takes a pill, puts it in her mouth, fills a glass of water, but never drinks it; instead she puts it back on the table with the pill still in her mouth. I guess she just swallowed it dry :) |
| 5.14 Not Without My Nanny | In the scene in Fran's bedroom when she and Gracie want to
escape, she ducks down to find the passports, when she gets up, watch
her dress. She was probably standing on it, cause when she gets up, it
pops from under her shoe as she says "...and the passports?" |
| 5.14 Not Without My Nanny | Later in that same scene, when Fran walks towards the door to ask the
sultan what is going on, she closes the door of the cabinet on the bottom
right corner of the screen. When she enters the room (after she saw the
guard), the door is open again. |
| 5.14 Not Without My Nanny | Notice in the end scene that Fran is wearing some finger cymbals. After Max declares himself and they kiss, you can hear Fran's finger cymbals clapping along with the audience. Cute touch. |
| 5.14 Not Without My Nanny | Shawn Holly Cookson and Terry Gordon were nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Costuming for a Series for this episode. |
| 5.15 The Engagement | Look at the bag Gracie is carrying when they come in the door. It is the same one they used when they went on the cruise to carry their souvenirs while they were shopping in port. |
| 5.15 The Engagement | Gracie at the front door is sick to death of hearing Daddy tell Fran he loves her, but when they get in the house and break the news to the rest of the family, she rushes over and is as suprised as anyone else in the room. |
| 5.15 The Engagement | In the scene between Niles and C.C in the office, the line "You know what it SO sad, other than the fact that you sleep in Brighton's old bed.." is made by C.C., who knows NONE of the children's names without a day of memorization. So, what's with that? |
| 5.15 The Engagement | The writer of the episode worked his name into the script when he had Val come over to congratulate Fran and she mentions who Sylvia had been talking to on the phone "Mr. Chung at the Rickshaw Hunan Palace". |
| 5.15 The Engagement | While they're waiting for Max, Yetta says: "Finally those
three kids will have a father!" Watch Maggie and Gracie's hands, when the camera angle changes, they're both in a different positions.
|
| 5.15 The Engagement | Several of the dresses on the rack of clothes that C.C. wheels out are recognizable from past episodes. Most notably, the dress that C.C. holds up was worn in 3.8 "The Party's Over" and the first dress on the rack was the 'hustle' dress in 2.2 "The Playwright." |
| 5.15 The Engagement | The guy who is sweeping up the theater played Benny Sago on All My Children at about the same period of time that Dorothy Lyman was on that show. |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | When Niles says "Can you get me a satellite dish" Fran's hands are together close to her face, then at the change of the camera angle they're down, and at the next angle change they're up again |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | While Fran and Max are shopping for an engagement ring at Uncle Stanley's keep an eye on Max's hands. As Fran says "He calls it the quarter pounder" his hands are together, a second later and they're in his pockets. |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | When Fran is shopping for something less happy hour,
she grabs the scarf on the table in front of her, causing it to move. A second later, as Sylvia enters, the scarf is exactly like it was before Fran touched it. |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | At the party, as the scene starts, you can see Fran taking a drink from the tray with her left hand, when the angle changes, it's in her right hand. |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | Adelaide Drescher plays the maid that eats the caviar, she also appeared in episode 2.24 "Strange Bedfellows" as a nanny. |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | When Max calls Sylvia "Ma", there is a cereal box on the counter - first it has the lid straight up and then folded down then up again and then down again. It also changes direction. |
| 5.16 Dinner Party | While Fran is talking to Sylvia about the party, watch Fran' preparing the food after Max enters. There are a couple of continuity errors there, for
example, Sylvia hands her the butter twice. |
| 5.17 Homie Work | When Fran enters Max' office towards the beginning of the show, she sits down on his lap. As they kiss, Max has both arms around her, the camera angle changes, he has one
arm on the chair. Angle changes again, and both hands are around Fran again. |
| 5.17 Homie Work | The picture that Tighe draws at first is different than the on CC shows at the end. The bottom of the 'rectangle' is particularly noticeable. |
| 5.17 Homie Work | Fran is not wearing her engagement ring in the scenes that she is teaching Irwin how to rap. A good spot to notice it is when she is using the gift box as an example of hand motions. |
| new!! | 5.17 Homie Work | When C.C. is led off to The Place, Lauren Lane was actually going on maternity leave for a few weeks and The Place was used to cover her absence. |
| 5.18 The Reunion Show | In the opening scene, just after Sylvia says: "Who said size isn't
important in the bedroom," she passes in front of Val and seems to trip over Rachel's feet! |
| new!! | 5.19 Immaculate Concepcion | The lawyer's name on his name plate is Chandler Evans--the name of one of the production assistants listed in the credits and also Rob Sternin's cousin. He got to keep the name plate when the taping was finished. |
| 5.19 Immaculate Concepcion | What happen to James' new wife Joan? He left nothing to her in his will and she was not mentioned. Did she die too? |
| 5.20 The Pre-Nup | Watch the scene in the kitchen with Fran and Sylvia talking about the Pre-nup. Fran takes her tea-bag out and places it on the napkin next to her cup. Brighton comes in, etc. After he leaves Fran returns to her cup and once again
takes the tea-bag out. Now, possibly Sylvia put it back in?!?! In that same scene, it's interesting to watch Sylvia's hands. She smacks Fran on the arm when she is yelling at her for not signing the pre-nup. When Fran rubs the sore spot, Sylvia's natural reaction is reach up to rub it too, but she checks herself. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | This episode was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lighting Direction for a Comedy Series, James Jensen, Lighting Director. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | This episode was originally taped to be 22 minutes long. When the go ahead came for an hour, large sections were added, including all of negligee story line and getting lost on the road. Watch Niles' hair for clues as to what was taped later, it is regular length in some sections (the original episode) and very short in other sections ( the second taping). In syndication, this episode is shown as two, with the "new" stuff being part one, and the original episode being part two. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | Nanny Math: The times mentioned in this episode don't add up very well. The invitation shown says the wedding is at six and it is definately an evening wedding. But when Fran is at the store trying to pick up her negligee, Val tells her it is 19 hours till the wedding. That makes it 11 PM--and they haven't even left for New Jersey yet. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | The part of Maxwell's sister was played by Twiggy in the first season (1.17 Stop The Wedding) and Sophie Ward this time, though Bess Armstrong did reprise her first season (1.22 I Don't Remember Mama) portrayal of Sarah. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | When Fran, Val and Sylvia get a flat and walk away they start walking down the road to the left of the car. Later when Max finds them, he has come from the right and says he passed the car (pointing behind him) See, men really are bad with directions! :) |
| 5.22 The Wedding | Nanny Math: Sylvia says Fran was born while "Kennedy was President" so that makes her born between between 1961-1963. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | Where did Val sleep that night? Fran went to bed without her. (Unless she joined Sylvia for pie!) And notice that the remote control device for the TV that Fran uses is the same one she used in "The Kibbutz." in the flashback scene. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | In the scene when Fran tells the girls to "Class it up, that might be someone from his side," you can see Madeline giggling. At first, you might think she just thought the line funny, but if you look closely, you can see that, actually, Fran is standing on her dress and Madeline is trying to pull it free. Then, moments later in that same scene, as Fran gives Gracie the cans to tie to the back of the Limo, the girls
go out in the following order: Maggie-Gracie-Val, but when the camera
angle changes it's Gracie-Maggie-Val. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | Watch Jocelyn's champagne glass. On the closeup line "Jocelyn's saying too much," the glass is empty, even though in the rest of the scene it has been half full. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | Listen to the Wedding March when Fran is to make her entrance coming down the aisle. When it is played the first time (when she doesn't appear), it is only a keyboard. When she actually does make it, the keyboard is joined by strings and we also have a curtain that she appears behind that wasn't there the first time. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | Fran's wedding dress cost $12,000 and was from the well-known Beverly Hills bridal shop Celeste. |
| 5.22 The Wedding | The priest who marries them (Darryl Hickman) has been in a number of episodes, most prominently as Nile's Cardiologist in "Fran's Gotta Have It" and the Bloomingdales manager in 4.12 "Danny's Dead" |
| 5.22 The Wedding | If you look in the backround, while Brighton is telling the Rabbi and the Priest to quit arguing, you can see Maggie grabbing Max for a hug. |
