i thought it was great...how fran celebrated christmas with the family....the vase was great i loved when fran went into the confessional..and max came in and sat on the vase...classic ...great episode..
It was a great ep. One of my favorites. Gracie is so sweet in the hospital, when she thanks Santa for the best of gifts. Her father home for Christmas.
nice decorations in the house!
I loved the way everybody came together with this one. I loved the way Fran cared enough to go overboard in getting things for the others, the way Niles and Fran bonded and really seemed to be good friends, and the way Maxwell came to her rescue when her friend Niles told him her problems. Just a real good, touchy-feely kind of show. Best line? Brighton's comment about getting Cindy Crawford for Christmas - "At least she's built". WONDERFUL!
I thought this episode was so great!!! All though it was very ironic that Max sat on the vase. Gracie was especially cute. This EP was a family EP all together!!!!!
very nice how fran change max weird christmas tradition. very good one. i love it!!!!!!!!
This episode was awesome. I liked the fact that Fran pawned her grandmother's watch so the kids could keep their gifts. It showed how much she cared about him. C.C. at the airport with that Santa ringing that bell "If you ring that bell one more time I'm going to ring your neck! Santa" That was funny. When they were in the church and Gracie wanted to know where Fran was "She went to confess" "She went to play chess" "She went to undress" and when Max sat on the vase ROTFL. When they were in the hospital and Gracie told Max what she wished for that was sweet and Niles with that "There go the friendly skies" was funny. The holiday greeting from the cast was cool. They should have done that more often. Slammin episode overall.
I really enjoyed this episode alot!! I think it was so romantic of maxwell to get Fran's watch back even though it wasn't her grandmother's..i think it showed how much he cared for her..IT was so funny when max sat on the watch though! hilarious! LOL!! merry xmas in august?!?!? =)
Though I love this music, I cannot say that I have ever been a fan of Christmaas or Christmas eps in general of any show. It was a good ep and very keeping with the stuff that preceeded it and the rest rst of the seoson after. Featured the kids, yack, yack, yack. Very classic season one.
the Nanny is the best show in the entire world! I love it always and forever! Thank you for listening!
A good ep. Fran's first Christmas. 'We believe in Edna.' 'Edna Clause, would that be the Mrs?' 'You're moving Christmas, can you do that?' 'Niles, can anyone go or is it kinda like the home club?' Niles wacking her on the head for pawning the vase. CC and Santa --- perfect. But my favorite part is when Max explains to Gracie why he can't be there, 'I understand' --- POW the screamer goes flying! B 'No hidden hostility there.' Add to that the building romance and the sulky priest and you have a classic Nanny ep.
i loved this ep. because it was fran's first christmas with the Sheffield's and it was made clear that fran had much influence to the family even after the short time she was working there
Again a favorite from the first season! This one has all the elements that made The Nanny great - a quick pace, LOL comedy (love Max & his anal tree, C.C. & Santa Claus & Niles smacking Fran in the head), & real meaning to boot. A Nanny classic.
Loooooooooooooooved it!!! Touchy and funny, the Nanny's trademark. Max showed how much he cares for Fran and the children were very well used and gave the episode that Christmas spirit. CC was hilarious as always with Santa and Fran's was her funny, caring usual self. I just love this show sooo much, and I must admit I am a sucker for these mushy Christmas eps. I know I know, I am a softee!
I usually don't like Christmas episodes but this one really kept everyone in character so it was great! I loved the part when Fran and Val come in to find Max trying to put the Bike together and Max says "It was wonderful (Re: Shopping) Children Laughing, People passing, greeting smile after smile." Niles "He's been doing that *all* day."
This episode was terrific. I agree that the best line was about Brighton getting Cindy Crawford for Christmas "At least she's built" ROTFL. Wonderful episode. It was the beginning of a wonderful family.
How can you not love it. The Nanny at it's best
I really liked that ep. IT was very cute and it showed how much Maxwell really cares about his nanny. I just loved that Max sitting on the vase scene and Gracie when she had her father home for X-mas. Great ep!!!!
I love Christmas and I loved the show and that eps. And I thought the whole eps. was funny and when Fran kissed C.C. on the cheek cuz she was under the misatoe, when Brighton said "at least she's built." ROTFL when Gracie got the "screamer" Fran and Niles became good friends C.C. at the airport, Fran and Max in the confass room together (very cute) the little mixup of where Fran was going and when the whole family at the hospital and when they all say "Merry Christmas from the Nanny"
It was funny and sweet. My favorite part was when they were in the church and Gracie wanted to know where Fran went to. Niles told Maggie that she went to confess. Maggie told Brighton she went to play chess. Then Brighton told Gracie she went to undress. that was funny!
B's bicycle still in pieces said so 'family'. In only 8 episodes the show had found its formula for a successful series: Fran 'the fascinating nanny' Fine, who helping those Sheffield people to get in touch with their souls, makes of them a 'fairy tale' family. And Mr. Sheffield sitting on the gift drove, through a funny device, the story to a proper conclusion. Not bad for a Xmas episode. Chapeau bas!
I just really liked this episode
This was a great warm-n-fuzzy feeling Christmas episode! It made you forget they're not a real family. I loved the part when C.C. was trying to persuade Max she was standing under mistletoe and he insisted it was just holly. He had a hard time hiding the smirk when Fran kissed her on the cheek! My favorite moment was in 2 parts- first when Max was saying good-bye to Fran at the door and said he picked the vase out himself, that it reminded him of her with just the right accent and then when he went to (try to) buy back her Grandmother's watch. Even though he got the wrong watch, the gesture had to mean something special to Fran. All in all, another great episode.
I love the nanny so i give it all tens.
very funny episode. i loved the whole max vase thing. didn't much care for moving christmas
This was a very nice episode, it is hard to believe that it´s from Season 1. The characters were already so developed and Fran was so funny... The only downfall on this one is Fran´s grandmother givinng her the watch on her "dying bed" (?¡)...Yetta and Netty appeared very much alive two seasons later...
This was always one of my favorite episodes..probably because of the way it mixed religion and the holidays. You had to love the entire idea of gifts and giving. And CC raming a bell down Santa's throat..well, that gave you a nice picture of what was naughty and nice. While not overtly romantic, the love of family that was shown made it a special Nanny "treasure" for the holidays.
It's so hard to be objective. Most Christmas special are just sappy, but this one was charming thru and thru. I really loved Niles smaking Fran on the back of the head,( so New York) people really hate it when I do it; but it really said all there was to say about how their relationship had progressed. A True Nanny Classic.
'That kid's the Anti Claus', the bicycle 'kit', 'Forgive me Father for I have shopped. That'll be 5 Hail Macy's'. Throw in the kids decorating dad with tinsel in the emergency ward and you have a good view into the future of a typically wacky Sheffield-Fine holiday celebration. Great show.
have yourself a Merry Nanny Christmas! a great episode, that show the true meaning of christmas, I love that there is a very beautiful fairy tale quality in this episode, christmas is my favorite time of the year and the Nanny is my favorite show, so What else can I say but, WOW!!!
With this episode, the series begins to pay attention to the oh so slowly developing relationship between Fran and Maxwell. Previous eps mainly focussed on 'just' the comedy and the relationship between Fran and the kids, this Christmas is where the 'romantic' aspects begin to surface. It isn't love, not yet, but there's definitely a loving caring between those two. Needless to say, I love this new aspect :-) Funniest moments: Grace knocking down Munch's Screamer, "There go the friendly skies" and "This ain't my grandmother's watch." Most touching moments: Grace asking for "Daddy home for Christmas" and both of Maxwell's 'confessions' - at the front door and in church. Oh, and I LOVE Fran's Christmassy outfits!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Sheffield is annoyed that Fran's personal stuff keeps interfering with his business stuff. But when Brock Storm, a soap star Max is trying to schmooze into appearing in one of his shows, demands a date with Fran as part of the deal, he has to eat his words. Written by: Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson. Brock Storm: Stephen Nichols |
Our responses (48) gave the episode a 7.5 overall, a 7.7 for the comedy, and a 7.5 for romance.
Some comments received were:
good!!!very good!!!!
This is also a good one! Maxell is so sweet, when he stays up to see if Frans OK. The last line is one of the best! "How do you spell EUNUCK"
THis one was just alright. I read somewhere that this was the beginning of the romance between the boss and the nanny because this is the first time we see a jealous Max. This is also the first time we see the kids takinga backseat to the adults. That is quite unfortunate. Some great lines "Mr. Sotrm just blew in" (I don't know why, but that always makes me laugh), "Isn't it amazing how a like (not the right word) are lives are? You are dating the hottest soap star and I am dating Eddie." Loved seeing Steven Nichols doing a parady of his character.
I really love this episode mainly because we finally begin to realize that Max is starting to have feelings for Fran. I think it is so cute the way he waits up for her to come home from her date with Brock Storm. My fav lines include Niles saying "Sir, are you afraid she is going to have a bad time or a good one?" and then Max says "Niles you are starting to get on my nerves" And then when Fran comes home "That guy was only interested in one thing, Hello my father was finally right" . And then she says at the end, "To bad because now he can really hit those high notes" and then Brighton says "Does that mean she kicked him in the....and then Max says, "good night Brighton...LOL. The scene in the office with Max , Fran and CC was also funny but my fav scene was when Max and Fran eat the peanuts and their eyes lock....right there we know they are falling for each other.
Oy that last scene with the peanuts! It is so unbelievably cute! Couldn't you just plotz from that? Max and Brighton wearing the same rope was very cute too. Lolled a lot when C.C. says "what's that and why are you doing it with her?". And max'feelings becoming evident makes this kind of a special ep to me.
A jealous Max?? Ain't that so cute. Already it was written in the stars that they were meant to be. And when their eyes lock in the kitchen. Oy, can you still breath????? Loved that one. It was the beginning of the most wonderful romance in television land.
The way Max were jealous is sweet, because he learns that he needs Fran in some way. The end and the realization that no personal business is impossible for them shows the right way in the future, i loved the ending, it was great.
An okay ep, but not the greatest. Max's feelings for Fran are definately emerging....which is a plus. It was awfully cute seeing Max and B waiting up for Fran (in matching outfits none-the-less).
I love this one. I think this has to one of Fran's BIGGEST hair episodes. The first season is just so funny I can't watch them enough.
I love Fran in anything she does. I can't get enough of her. When are all the reruns on. I am having withdrawals. I gots to have my Nanny !!
Quite good episode, not that funny, but it put things in place for the relationship Fran and Max were building...
Great episode. Loved the scene with Max, Fran, and C.C. in the office. At the end when Max was waiting up for Fran was sweet. When Fran said "That guy was only interested in one thing, hello my father was finally right!" and when they were in that limo and Brock put on the patch I about died from laughing. But when Fran said "That's a shame cause now he can really hit those high notes and Brighton said "Does that mean that she kicked him in the" and Max interrupted him and said "Goodnight Brighton" LOL. But I loved the part when their eyes locked it showed that they were starting to fall for each other.
I think this episode was really great! It showed what was to come max and his jealousy episodes...;) I really liked the ending when fran and max just looked at each other! so cute!! great ep!
This was a great episode! We see Max and Fran's romance beginning to blossom and we catcha quick glance at the connection between Niles and C.C. in my favorite part when Max (being, of course, totally clueless) says "Can you believe he wants my Nanny? He can get someone else to take car of his kids!" And then Niles and C.C. share a knowing glance. I also love Niles' "fall" and his line "So you'd be doing her a favor as aopposed to say, pimping her, sir." "Thanks you Niles." "Always there for you, sir."
The first episode where Max' growing feelings for Fran began to show. Some of the best scenes were the ones without dialogue. Others have mentioned a few places but my favorite was the look on Max' face as he closed the door when Fran and Brock left on their date. Loved the matching robes on Maggie and Fran at the start and Max and Brighton at the end, too. And Grace was wonderful again... as usual!
Is the actor that played Brock Storm in a soap opera in real life? [webmaster's note: Yes, he was on Days Of Our Lives with Charles Shaughnessy.]
I loved the kitchen scene where max and fran's eyes lock. It was very romantic. you have to know that there falling for each other in that one.
A good episode. Not a fantastic one, but a good one. Solid, funny enough, and
something's indeed blossoming there.
I thought it was cute to see Maxwell and Brighton in the same robes, while the opening scene
had Fran and Maggie dressed the same way. I also though it funny - in hindsight - to see C.C.
perched on Maxwell's desk (on what would soon become Fran's spot), while Fran seated herself on
the other side still.
Several funny moments: "Adolfo, as in Hitler?", "My God, I've eaten him. He *is* good", "It's
an act. Hence the term actor", "Frère Jacques, dormez-vous?", "The man is a master of bodily
fluids", "Maxwell, if you don't mind, I think I'll handle the negotiations with Brock's
agent",... The best thing is, that each and every single one of these lines is already *so*
typical for the individual characters. Also, Niles pulling the act of "I fell, Sir" and Fran
and Niles going "As if we were his servants" shows how much those two 'servants' were going to
connect.
And then, yes, Maxwell caring for 'Franala' and C.C. hating every bit of it. Those must be my
fave parts of this ep. "Maxwell, what is this (waves hands) and why are you doing it with her?"
and "A very good time/Not that good a time/(through teeth) We want her to have a good time."
Peanuts, anyone?
I love this ep! Finally, you can see clearly that Max is starting to make it clearer that he does have feelings for Fran. The 'couple of nut eaters gave it in'! They could have kissed there. It was a 'real Kodak moment' (Oy, now thgat's tacky!) : ) Anyway, as always, a great performance by all of them. Two thumbs up!
i thought it wuz a good & hilarious episode
cute ep, not a favorite or much of a milestone in my mind, but it was funny. i like the "business mixing with personal" joke.
not one of my personal faves, but not awful
A really good episode. Max starts to relize he has feeelings for Fran (in a way)! I liked it.
Not an over-the-top episode, but how could you not love the end? This is the first episode I that I think gives a hint of what is to come, and even though he doesn't come right out and say it, Max is definitely jealous! (Max: I realized if something terrible happened to you out there, I would actually...Care! Fran: Don't gush!). And the way their eyes locked as they both reached for a peanut...anyway, you can tell after watching this episode, it is definitely going to get interesting!
Some really funny lines in this one. I loved Niles' little "accident" & Brighton's comment at the end, "Does that mean she kicked him in the . . ." LOL But the best part was that we got to see a jealous Max for the very first time. He looked so forlorn watching Fran & Brock through the door when they left on their date. And of course Niles noticed immediately. :-)
Maxwell's childhood nanny comes for a visit and is apalled at Fran's less traditional child care methods. Fearing she will get sacked, Fran tries to change into a 'perfect nanny' but when she and Mr. Sheffield discover Nanny Mueller and Niles 'eating pudding', Fran get's her confidence back. Written by: Eve Ahlert and Dennis Drake. Nanny Mueller: Cloris Leachman, Nannies in the Park: Lu Leonard, Peggy Blow and Irene Olga Lopez |
Our responses (53) gave the episode a 7.7 overall, a 8.1 for the comedy, and a 6.3 for romance.
Some comments received were:
Great Episode. Fran and that "Niles, take the woman's coat she's getting a sweat mustache. Ooops my mistake!" LOL Cloris Leachman was great just a terrific episode.
Especially the scene in the kitchen with Niles and Fraeulein Mueller is great, Niles' behaviour is really unknown. And Max has to decide which women is more important and it's clear that this will be Fran. The scene with the forgotten tennis balls is also a good one.
This was one of the best Nanny episodes ever. Nanny Mueller gleefully recalling how Maxwell's little bottom looked like two cling peaches and Brighton's revulsion - that's more than I needed to know about Dad; Niles and Nanny Mueller having Pudding together; those Sound of Music outfits from hell that the kids got forced into wearing and last but not least Fran's classic line: Oh Mr Sheffield, you forgot your balls. I laughed so hard I almost fell on the floor.
It definately had its moments, but I really didn't like this one much.
I thought this episode was really funny! I liked how Fran tried to be the perfect nanny and show nanny mueller she could do the job..as always classic nanny! I also thought the romance between niles and nanny mueller was really cute! =) great ep!
I think this episode is ok, it is not my favourite but it is ok. The part that I actually like is when Fran reminds Max about his tennis balls, that line is just great. Also at the end Gracie been trapped between Maggie´s and Brighton´s arms. Nice episode anyway.
Loved the wild side of Niles...other than that, the eopisode was ok.
Not my favorite, but not my least favorite by far!
Some good lines, but besides that, not all that great. Of course I loved Max telling Fran to get out of that dress (and her response). "Don't forget your balls" was a good line. BUt not much good besides that.
A pretty good episode. I like this scene: BRIGHTON (in a sailor suit): I can't go out in this! Somebody will kick my butt! FRAN: Sweetheart, I'd kick your butt. Also like the song of choice for this episode.
Mr. Sheffield, you forgot your balls.
Niles having an affair with Nanny Mueller LOL
Not the best, but I loved to see Niles "Romance" with Nanny Mueller.
I liked this episode because it added a new dimension to the dynamics of the two adult male characters, and, GOSH, it introduced sex to the Sheffield household. That window into their pasts involving this woman, the other Nanny, helped the audience to understand them a little more.Besides it was really funny. I can't hear the word pudding and not giggle.
Was I the only one who found Niles' relationship with Max's nanny creepy???? I didn't care much for this episode, although I thought the whole bit with Fran and the uniform and what she did to it at the end was pretty funny. Ah, and we learn about the Babcock family's uncreative knack for girl names - B.B. and D.D. LOL!
nannys just fine
this ep had some funny jokes, my favs were brighton's "i cant go out in this, somebody will kick my butt!" fran: sweetheart, i'd kick your butt. and the line about max forgetting his balls. i thought it was cute when we saw fran sitting in the kitchen singing "in my own little corner"
I loved this one. It has always been one of my favorites.
A fairly good episode...like others have said - not the best but not the worst. My favorite line was when Nanny Mueller commented about in 'her day' how the Nanny ate in the kitchen and Fran said that it's OK you can eat with us now! And yes, the 'Sound of Music' gear! I also wonder how far the Fran and Max conversation would have gone if Niles and Clara hadn't come down the stairs!
"Mr. Sheffield you forgot your balls" need I say more.
Not a great episode. I didn't like the story with Niles & Nanny Mueller. I didn't find it believable. But it is The Nanny, so even it's not so good is better than everyone's best.
No you are not the only one who found Niles and Nanny Mueller togheter creepy, so did I. They were totally a big turn OFF. I mean it just screamed to me "turn off the tv". No chemistry between them at all. Maybe if they had brought back Katherine it would have been something. As for the ep in general, a bad one.
This was a very funny ep. I really loved it, especially the interaction between Niles and nanny Mueller. And how they were eating pudding together. LOL. And Fran shouldn't have come between a man and his nanny, because it only proves Maxwell will always pick her out. And that sexy uniform... I was ROTFL. Fran is anything but a perfect nanny.
a pretty good episode. It had its momements but not one of my absolute favs.
I have to agree with the earlier comments. Niles looked so attractive in that dark Amani suit - and then he goes after HER? No way! (Where's Joan Collins when we need her?)
I like this episode. It is very funny and also gives us a glimpse into Maxwell and Niles' past. Niles and Nanny Mueller "having pudding" was great, and the next morning MAX: Niles, coffee. NILES: Thank you sir, I could use a cup.
I liked this episode. I always liked Nanny Mueller's long speech on the perils of being a nanny, ("You might think they are your kids, but they're not. You'll find out, if you last as long as I have. Kids grow up, go on their way, and you'll go on to another family.") maybe because it always rang so true to me.
I loved this one!! Major cuteness!!
It wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't my favorite.
I love Cloris Leachman, but I've got to side with those who thought that Niles (be still my hormones) and she were a little eeewwww. I mean, this is the man who later ends up with Miss Fabulous herself, CC Babcock. Still, it was cute. And I loved the chance to peek into the histories of Niles and Max, as well as the upbringing of CC. It really says something that Nanny Mueller reminds CC of her old Nanny, yet when CC said, "I love you, Nanny Mueller!" at the end, Nanny Mueller's resonse was to tell her to stand up straight. And we wonder why both Max and CC are a little emotionally repressed!
GREAT Episode. This was a very funny episode. Not to say that I don't love them all.
Hi there, I thought this episode was cute, the kids in those sailor suits, funny, Nanny Mueller and Niles! Hoo ha, look out! A little custard pudding, I like that and a little romance for the adorable butler. Thanks.
the esp was funnyand when maxwell said" Miss Fine take off that unfinom"lol and when fran was sitting on the corner sing"in my corner' lol LOVE THE SHOW
It established the Niles character as being straight, which I think looking back was very important.
This is my favorite 1st season episode. It is all to classic. Cloris was fantastic, Nilezy and I agree. I love when B is asked to imitate Fran "oy". There is even a classic TV refrence ( my favorite thing to look out for. Hogan's Heroes is mentioned.)The kids in those Sound of Music uniforms, and of course the line " you forgot your balls". Even when Gracie performed her teapot that was unforgettable also. Three cheers for The Perfect Nanny (great song) episode.
It's Fran's thirtieth birthday and Sylvia has given her a cemetary plot as a gift. When Fran tries to return it, she meets the gorgeous funeral director that Sylvia was trying to subtly set her up with. They actually hit it off pretty well, till Steve reveals his plans to attend clown college. Written by: Lila Garrett and Sandy Krinski. Steve: Matt McCoy. |
Our responses (40) gave the episode a 7.2 overall, a 7.6 for the comedy, and a 6.8 for romance.
Some comments received were:
This ep is good, but I don't think it's one of the best ones. It's funny, specially the part where Fran turns the vase around and ash falls from it and she tries to hide it by rubbing her feet on it! LOL Also the part where both Max and Niles can't see anything between them... that was a good one : )
This was an OK episode, but it DID have a lot of good scenes: B covering how much he would miss Fran and the disappointed look Max had on his face, Max holding up Fran's hair while she rolled it, Max coming in to get Fran's opinion saying, "There you are", and Max and Brighton's hi-five when she told them it didn't work out (behind her back of course!). Funniest scene was Maggie talking about the table that wasn't there, and then Grace asks if "Philip's table really exists?" and Brighton adds, "And if you show up, will all his friends disappear?". Last but not least, I nearly forgot when Fran notices Max's gray streak and he says, "Funny, it showed up about the same time you did!". Lots of LOL moments!
I didn't really like this one.
this episode was funny...it had its moments..i was hysterical when Steve told Fran he was going to college...clown college...soo funny!! Great episode ...it definitley kept me laughing!
In this part of the season, it seems that the eps were less cute than the first part and jsut not as good as later in season one. I saw this one today after work, and it jsut kinda fell flat.
It´s a wonderfull program. ! CONGRATULATIONS ¡
I just loved Maxwell!!! He so predicteble. He has strong feelings for Fran, but scared to death to admiting it.
Uh, it was okay I guess. Definitely not the best one, that's for sure.
I loved this one!! The whole "What are you eating?" thing was cute!! Two thumbs up!!
Sorry I have to say it...the 'plot' was terrible. The whole story with Fran and the mortician turned clown was lame. But I enjoyed the episode (it was on yesterday!) Brighton and Max both not liking Fran dating is too cute. Grace's interpretation of the Civil War. But Niles stole the show with 'Mr. Sheffields speaking to Miss Fine about the possiblity of having sex in her room.' LOL
Not one of the best from season 1...some funny moments in it, though...the part when Steve wets Fran with the flower is the best one from it...
It was a great episode. The water in the face and the clown thing and "I can't see anything between them either" was hilarious. Maggie and "Phillip is so cool and deep" and Fran with that "Steve keeps people cool and deep" funny. Great episode, but I think the plot was on the "Golden Girls" once. Dick Van Dyke played the clown dude. Oh well I liked it much better with Fran.
I loved the esp and all the comedy that was said with brighton max and niles and i REALLY the the one brightion said" you know i can chanpenane" fran: Over my dead body"! brighton: thank you thank you no hands" when max and niles where claping at the remark!!
It was cute. The best scene, I think, is the one with Max and Niles in the kitchen 'waiting' for Fran to return... from Max taking Niles' brandy and cigar to "I can't see anything between them either." The table that might not exist, the 'high-five' when Fran breaks-up with Steve, the dyfunctional family Civil War - just some of the great comedy moments. The storyline was probably the weakest part! And each week now we get to see Max a little more concerned about 'his' Nanny!
What can you say for "A Plot for Nanny"? Terrific episode and I thought it was hilarious. When they were in the funeral parlor and she tipped that vase and the cremation ashes came out I cracked up! Niles with that "I can't see anything between them either sir" was funny, and when they were cracking jokes about Fran's date being a funeral director. Brighton was the best with "I could chaperone for you two" and Fran said "Over my dead body" cute. Maggie with "Phillip is so cool and deep" and Fran replied " Steve keeps people cool and deep" and not to mention that birthday cake and Maggie responding "Isn't that a little old?" and Fran said "What's your point?". Bottom line terrific episode and one of my all time favorites. Very nicely done.
A clown??? geez if that isn't the insult of all insults and only in this world could sylvia fine find a funeral director for her daughter who wants to be a clown... I am telling ya that is the magic of the nanny. the impossible happens!
This was not my favorite episode. But is was a decent one. I loved when Niles told CC that Mr. Sheffield was in Fran's room discussing the possibility of having sex in her room. LOL!
not very memorable, although any ep is fun to watch, it wasnt great.
very funny in parts. not one of my favourites though.
It was okay.. But I still pin for Max and Fran as a couple
This ep was ok.I loved the part that B was trying to hide the fact that he loved Fran.I also loved Max's and B's high five. But I still don't like the fact of Fran kissing other guys(Oh! well the girl gotta have some fun before she gets to Max). Ps:Max and B look even cutter then they already when they are jealous!!
Fran volunteers to be the director of Grace's school show and, to encourage Grace to have more self-confidence, gives the lead in the show to her. Some comments received were:
This was not one of my favorite episodes, but it did have a couple good lines- both from Fran, both near the beginning: Max:"Ms. Trusdale is the Head Mistress." Fran [to Ms. Trusdale]: "Don't let 'em fool ya! No matter what they say, they'll never leave their wives!" and to Max, "That shade of lipstick looks lovely on your rump!" Outside of that, it lacked something. I do think, however, that everytime they come thru a crisis with one of the kids, Max is realizing more and more just how much he needs her.
This was a great episode. The tap dancing and "S.O.S" and the kid who sang. Great. My favorite line "You your not a flower your a fungus" cracks me up everytime. Terrific episode and an all time favorite of mine.
I thought this episode was really cute! Gracie has such a cute voice! I thought this episode was just classic Nanny the entire time! loved it!
I thought this was a very cute episode. I loved Gracie as the spider, and Fran's reverse phsiclogy (Please excuse my spelling). I thought this was an hilarious episode, in all respects.
One of my favorites! Gracie is so cute. The "play take over" by Maxwell THE BIG PRODUCER who knows HOW iis good too. Fran handeling Gracie execly how she handels everything and everybody even Maxwell. The last line is one of the best!! "Next year you fould the programes"
I loved how this ep showed how much the kids really need Fran.
Wouldn't you just love Fran as a director? It was a pretty cute epi with a nice end scene. I think Grace was the sweet little girl we loved so much over the years. And the scene where Fran said that the producer could fire the director had me ROTFL. I still wonder how we could live for five years without that beautiful Fran/Max romance!!!!!!!
I loved this one!! My favorite line was "That's why I'm the producer!!"
Not one of my faves. I always thought (mistakenly ovbiously) that this was one of the worst from season 2, but now I know the truth, it is the worst from season 1. There is noting that stands out in my mind as being clever, funny or even entertatining. This was d3efinitely not a good one.
I just thought this was a good EP. It's not the greatest though. Grace was very adorable. My favorite part was where the one girl(excellant singer) sang and held on to the note in "Mary Had A Little Lamb" thenn she said her talent was a gift and Max said return it. O ver all it was an O.K. EP!!!
Really funny ep, with a lot of moments worth laughing...that girl Andrea was so funny and her mother...¡what a monster! LOL!!!! Fran was great on this oone, how things turned out the way she wanted to or the way she had predicted and Gracie was so cute, her performance was so believable...one of the best from Season 1...
eh, nothing really moved me one way or the other. but i like the scenes with the girl with the pushy stage mother
I like it very much and Grace is so cute.
This episode was really cute and funny. I loved the scene at the beginning with Fran trying to decide what shirt to wear. Madeline was really great in this ep as Gracie. I loved when Fran said at the end, And that's that's why I'm the producer! I LOL when I saw Gracie in the spider costume! I give it an 8 all around!!!!
Well, it features Grace, so I have a soft spot for this ep, but its not one of the best. Best scene was Fran and Max and Grace, when Grace refuses to go on. Best line from Grace after Max has taken over. G: 'It was more fun when you were in charge' F: 'I know sweetie. Can I get you anything?' G: 'Juice and beep my therapist'. Don't know, this had all the elements I like, but it fell short for some reason. But its definately not one of the worst of season one, that has to be the Gym teacher.
Hmmm...this one wasn't one of my favorites either, but it defintely wasn't bad! I
just thought it was 'average.' Some of my fav. lines:
"You, you're not a flower, you're a fungus!" (When a guy tried to be a flower instead of a
mushroom.)
"Next year, you fold the programs." (Fran to Max.)
Also, what someone already said, when that girl said that her talent of singing was her gift
and Max said "Return it."
Overall, I did think this Nanny ep was funny and quite cute, just not one of the best. I rated
it a 5.
NOTE: I love the song you picked for this page, Barb! :)
I agree that this was not one of the best episodes of season 1, but it really did have some adorable moments. My favorite is the end when Gracie is introduced in a huge production number and proceeds to sing in her little voice. I also thought all the stuff with C.C. and the children was funny, from fending them off as if they were snakes to letting the investor's son wipe his nose on her sleeve. All in all, a cute episode.
Again CC has to pretend she likes kids for the sake of the show or to impress Max.
This was not one of my favorites.
Gracie is so so so cute! and that voice made her look even cutter!
It was O.K. - not great but not bad. The good point was that it was an episode about Fran being a 'Nanny' and working to build up Grace's confidence and, let's be realistic, she was rather 'poor' as the star! (Didn't Maddy do a great job of it, though!) The pushy mother was good as was the fact that Max just couldn't keep from getting involved (read 'taking over'). It had some funny lines and all but overall was a bit overdone.
I went back to watch this one again and see if I could figure out what it was that people didn't like about it. I think I know. (At least for me) Maddy was so unbelievably cute at that age and the Gracie character was so sad throughout most of the program, that it ended up leaving you feeling bad. There were good points. I loved the kids sitting on the stage with paper bad 'mushroom caps' on their heads. And although CC and Niles weren't in it nearly enough for me, I did think the best line went to CC. "Keep moving Maxwell--they're small, but they're dangerous when they swarm!" Holding a chair up to keep them away - like a lion tamer. She cracked me up!
Cute Eps not one of my favorits but good Gracie has a cute voice and the costumes(hmmmm i wonder who helped with them and the dance number)lolololol also i like the line Max:" uMM flower #2 where are you going?" Fran: "She has to make." Max:"Make what?" Fran: a doddie"!lol but Over all i give this ep an 9
Maxwell's old girlfriend, modeling agent Chloe Simpson, is in town for a visit. She thinks Maggie might make a good model, but at the test shoot it becomes apparent that she isn't cut out for it. Written by: Diane Wilk. Chloe Simpson: Victoria Hulett, Pepe (or Bernie): Andy Dick, Carlo: Anthony Cistaro |
Our responses (36) gave the episode a 6.2 overall, a 6.7 for the comedy, and a 5.2 for romance.
Some comments received were:
I like this episode a lot, the very idea of Fran as a model for feet makes me laugh. But the best scene is the one with CC and Niles: "Dont you have anything hard?" "Not for you" I thinks that was the point, when I got to love the interaction between the two of them.
Nice episode, although not one of my favourites it is ok.
I guess I forgot that there was a slwo part of season one. I think it started with "A Plot for Nanny" and went though almost to the end (there are some notable exceptions including "Stop the Wedding", "Family Plumbing", Frannie's Choice" and "I Don't remember Mama"). THis ep fits into the bad part of the season. THere were some funny parts, (loved everyone refering to Cloe as the PSSSSSSSSSSST Girl, the gyrating photographer, "well you are going to be a really strong man."), but like the show must go on, this was jsut not a good ep.
Not one of my faves, but still great. The best parts were the photographer flirting with Maggie and the Nies/CC exchange "Don't you have anything harder?" "Not for you!"
i thought this episode was really good...I just didn't like chloe she seemed very phony right from the beginning and i knew maggie was being suckered...overall pretty good episode! enjoyed it alot!
I thought it was ok but it wasn't the greatest.
This has my vote for worst of season one, tied only with the gym teacher. It had some seriously good lines, but the whole thing just was blah. Best part was Niles reaction to Chloe!!!! Very very good. His loyalty to Maxwell was really defined in this one. Also Bernie was cute. I think they should have stuck with the Max and Chloe storyline instead of bringing Maggie into it, that just didn't work.
Not my favorite episode, but I would never give it away!!
I really loved this episode. Especially Fran and the "bridge". Andy Dick was great and it was really funny great episode.
Not one of my favorite episodes but it had some great parts. The whole scene with Max in the office on the phone with Chloe "No, you hang up first." was great. And poor Ms. Babcock, "I haven't seen Maxwell in three days. I don't know why I bother coming over." My favorite part is Niles to Max "Don't trip over your hormones sir."
Not the best, but it had a few good lines. And for once C.C. and Fran are agreeing, they hate Chloe!
I liked the Andy Dick cameo
this one showed how beautiful maggie was becoming and how independent she is. Max reacted perfectly to this situation. Fran showed again how protective and street smart she is by stepping in and taking care of Maggie when things went bad. Lots of verbal humor with the pssst girl. A good episode that demonstrated the stong characters of each person.
One of my least favorite of the first season. The character of Chloe was awful. Niles had some good lines and the part where the sleazy fashion photographer is shooting pics of Maggie was sort of funny but that was about it.
It was an okay episode, but there were better ones in season one. I loved how Max still had the hots for Chloe and did I detect a little jealousy from Fran? Maggie as a model was so hilarious. She was not at all cut out for it. You could see Chloe was suposed to be the star...
One of the "middle of the road" episodes, IMHO. Not fantastic, but not bad. The plot was good - Fran cleaning up the mess that Hurricane Chloe left behind, and it's always fun to watch Max tripping over his hormones. "Let me take your dress - uh - coat." LOL What an old smoothy he is! And I love the exchange between C.C. & Niles, "Haven't you got anything hard?" "Not for you." A nice warm story, but the comedy level wasn't as high as some of the better eps.
Although not one of my favorites, this show had some great parts. I like how Fran and CC 'got together' when they both feared Chloe would take Max away. I liked the sentimental scenes (both with Maggie)at the end. Can you imagaine the Max of the first few episodes having such a talk with his daughter about the disappointments in life and how beautiful she was inside and out? Also, Maggie telling Fran that she was her best friend reinforces again how important Fran had become in the kids' lives. Of course, the 'not for you' line is ROTFL as is 'We'll cross that B#$%* when we get to it!'
For Nanny-standards not the greatest but for general sitcom standarts "Top of the line". Many great lines (they have already been mentioned in the previous messages) and a good development in characters. But we Nanny-fans are just spoiled with better eps!
I think this one was a quite funny ep...Fran´s character was getting a little more
histrionic and getting to be the Fran Fine who made us all laugh in the following
episodes...the part when she thinks Cloeh is talking to her and poses on the couch pretending
she was a model...funny.
The part when she trips her foot over Cloeh and she waves in that funny way...and that
laughter, of course...
Pretty ep, with Maggie growing up and finding out who she could trust in...and Max getting more
in touch with his feelings...
Another funny moment when CC does Maxwell when he talks on the phone..."Hello Cloeh"...LOL!!!
While the show wasn't my favorite of the season, the whole scene in the kitchen with Niles, CC and Fran was one of my favorites that year! "Do you suppose she's had any....?" "Asians? Why not, she's had everybody else!" "Oh please, she's had more...." "...anything hard?" "Not for you." All three laughing together. I just loved the whole scene!
I LOVE FRAN FINE
