1.14 The Family Plumbing

The plumbing needs repairs and Fran volunteers her Uncle Irving for the job. Irving brings along Fran's cousin Tiffany, and she and Brighton become good friends. So good in fact that Fran catches them kissing in the shower. Later, fearing they may be repeating themselves, she bursts in the closed bathroom door, to discover it isn't the kids, but Mr. Sheffield taking a shower! Written by: Bill Lawrence. Cousin Irving: Louis Guss, Tiffany: Jaclyn Tohn, Model: Laurelyn Scharkey, G.G.: Melanie Good

Our responses (55) gave the episode a 8.2 overall, a 8.4 for the comedy, and a 6.8 for romance.

I think every episode of TN is great, this is very funny and very original. but, for me, the writers forgot some romance between Fran and Max, who are the perfect couple in everything. So, the overall for me is an 8.

HILARIOUS!!!!!

I simply loved this episode! LOLLED all the way through. And the shower scene. Hoo ha!

What I found funny was the part where Fran´s cousin working clothes say on the back "SPEEDY" when on the contrary he is vary slow. Nice episode.

Oh...This is definitely one of my favourites! Not only because we get to see Charlie in the shower (pretty yummy though) but it also contains a great laugh! Fran's obsession with hireing relatives, max' uptightness, his way of acting toward the children (especially Maggie) and Fran trying to let Max see his double standarts.
Uncle Irving was funny! Fran was definitely a riot after she walked in on her boss and Max was terribly adorable when he could not look Fran in the eye.
Great lines: "The date changed", "Don't tell me you never had these thoughts about his old man", "You have nothing to be embarrased about; BELIEVE ME!" + many more! GRRRREAT EP!

The first ep I watched twice. Max and Niles staring at the models with that "cat looking at the fish" gaze, and the double standing thing, and in the end, when Max is giving his son a picture on the women's' world, how is that line "…..and they left you naked…" or something like that, well that was great TV. You know what, I was wrong, the memories from this show are really good, and, as a good red wine, they become better with age!

I loved this one!! My favorite line was, "Oh look, giant barbie dolls!!" It was hilarious and funny!! A great one!!

This ranks in the 10 best Nanny eps ever IMHO. The shower scene alone was priceless. "oh look you're wearing the soap-on-a-rope I got you for Christmas" - need I say more. I also thought Fran and Niles had some great scenes together. Fran's attempts to show Maxwell how he treats Maggie and Brighton differently were classic. The whole thing was great from beginning to end, including the last scene with with Fran and Maxwell "I didn't see anything .....except maybe your double standard ....what ! ....you have nothing to be ashamed of ....believe me" Too Funny.

This is an episode I kept hearing about and couldn't wait to see, and when I did, I didn't know what the big deal was all about. It was OK, and I've seen worse, but I've also seen much better! I know that it wasn't her, but did the girl who played Fran's cousin look a lot like the girl who played young Fran in later eps? [webmaster's note: I thought so too, and had to check credits to make sure it wasn't.]

LOL it was funny "Oh your using the new soap on a rope I gave you or Christmas"

The funniest part of this episode may be the legend that built up around "The Shower Scene" based on people's memories before swapped tapes and syndication gave us another look! Reality wasn't bad, but Oy! those stories! Still a classic!

I love this one, I always thought it was hilarious, Max and the soap on a rope. It's cute how Brighton has his first kiss. But the best part. Fran talking to Niles. "I just saw Mr. Sheffield naked, it was horrible." " Yes,I keep telling him to get to the gym." "I'm serious it's like seeing your father naked, my mother should be so lucky." "Would you like a cigarette Miss Fine." and so on. Have to laugh at Niles talking about walking in on the Queen Mum on the throne and wanting to tell Miss Babcock about what happened. Classic one. Thanks.

One of my favorites! It was hilarios. Uncle Irvine in slow motion. Gracie and the giant Barbie-dolls. Tifany and B in the shower, KISSING (only 11 yrs, Maxwell was 13! the first time). Maxwell in the same shower, naked. His duble standards visa Maggie and B. And Fran with her smartness makes Maxwell do things the right (her) way once more. I JUST LOVE THIS EP!!!

A nannyfans classic

Ahhhhh, the drought is over. An excellent episode. Max's double standard. Gracie and her giant Barbie dolls. Tiffany was a hoot. Mr. Sheffield in the buff!!!! 'nuf said!!

I thought this episode was one of the highlights of the first season. I mean, when Fran walks in on Max in the shower, it is just so hilarious! LOL

this was a very funny episode!!! the cutest part was when brighton had his first on screen kiss! awww!! the other very funny part was of course when Fran caught mr.sheffield in the shower!! hoo-ha!! ;) lucky girl!! overall very funny!!!=)

i thought this was so funny...great to see maxwell in the shower too!...He looked great.. something to look forward too!!

That was such a funny ep. When Fran discovered Max under the shower in his nude I was ROTFL, when she said: "Oh I see you're wearing the soap I bought you. LOLOLOL. Loved that one. Irvin was of course the typical Fine. And of course there were Niles' funny comments on the side, like always

Not much romance - it's early days - but otherwise, as so many have said already, a 'classic'. Too many favourite parts to comment on and most have been said already except for the opening scene - everybody else scruffy, unshaven, etc. and then Fran breezes in all neat and tidy after having used up her supply of moist towelettes! The very funny start to what was turns out to be a great episode.

Awesome show. "BELIEVE ME"

I loved this episode.

One of my all-time favorite episodes! Miss Fine & her moist towelettes, Niles & Max and their not quite so sophisticated reaction to the giant Barbie dolls, & of course Max and his soap on a rope. LOL!!!!!! A classic!

One of the funniest show that I have seen. What about that shower scene? Have you seen the blooper show where they showed some of the bloopers created while filming this scene? He is in the shower in very skimpy briefs!

absolutely loved it...every moment was funny funny funny...and Charlie in the shower - grrrr..... :-)

This episodes is one of my faves. I think it's great how max didn't mind as much about the shower incident than he would have if it were someone else.

hei det er cecilie som sender fra internett. jeg har vel ikke noe annet ĺ si.

This episode wasn't one of my favorites, but it did have it's good moments. I about died laughing when she walking in on Maxwell in the shower! Brighton and Tiffany kissing and "first base" was great. I saw a blooper from this episode on that CBS Funny Flubs and Screw ups and Fran really walked in on Charles and she ran out really quick. It was funny he was changing in the shower stall and she said "Oh, sorry" and ran out. Oh, well. Anyway this was in my opinion not the greatest episode, but it did have it's moments.

Loved it! Especially seeing Max & Niles "scruffy" looking! Wow! A lot of great lines here. One of my faves!

That's a goooooood one!!!... ROTFL from A to Z!!!!!... Max comparing his "kissing prouesse" to his son (and being proud!!!), Fran's common sense, and the way she turns his embarrassment into "not so much embarrassed after all"... A classic!!!!

i love the nanny i wish it would come back onto sky one!!!!!

I ahven't seen any of the other coments yet, but I have to say taht this one truly is classic Nanny. ITs not a story that has never been done before (Who's the Boss for one did it), but this is very classic. Very well done as well. Loved the double standard of Max and how Fran pointed it out. Loved how everyone was involved. And of course I loved seeing Charlie in the shower. Overall, not bad at all.

1.15 Deep Throat

Fran takes Grace to the doctor to have her sore throat checked out, but the doctor recommends that Fran is the one that needs a tonsillectomy. While under the effects of the anaesthetic, she tells Mister Sheffield those three magic words, worrying him that she may have a crush on him.Written by: Sally Lapiduss and Pamela Eells. Doctor Link: Doug Ballard, Nurse Smith: Francesca P. Roberts, C.C.'s Friend #1: Pamela Dillman, C.C.'s Friend #2: Lauren Koslow, Orderly: Lawrence A. Mandley, Cleaning Man: Pete Leal

Our responses (36) gave the episode a 8.1 overall, a 8.5 for the comedy, and a 7.8 for romance.
Some comments received were:

I loved it! Very funny! All characters played well, funny lines, & sweet moments. Loved the ending: Fran recup.'ing & Niles sick...CC walks in making fun of Fran, takes Fran's glass of "juice", then Fran writes that it's not "apple juice! Between CC's reaction & seeing Niles laughing in the background had me ROFLOL!!!

When I heard: 'Shister Meffield, I love you" I just screamed!!!! OYYYYYY I just love this ep. Together with "family plumbing" it is the best of the season. The way Max goes on about Fran, explaining that she is "just the nanny" (a wonderful nanny to be sure, caring and loving..................) he is so adorable!
Although I was a little dissapointed at that time I think the "I love you too skinny one" was LOL! And looking back, it was a little too early for those magic words. But do you think she really meant them? I personally think she did. Look at the look in her eyes!
And Fran was deadly funny in the hospital with that old lady! What really got me falling off the couch was : "That's not apple juice". The face CC made got me into stitches! One word: 10!

Nice episode. I loved the part where Fran tell everyone she loves them. Great ep!

i think it was a great episode with max and fran...i liked the part where she kept saying i love u to every body she sees.

Max and Niles asking the doctor to do something in order to improve Fran's voice, the way Max takes the 'shister meffield I love you' thing, almost daydreaming about Fran, and how Niles is there to make a fool of his master when 'the thing' come out is due to the drug. I'm still laughing for the 'it's not apple juice', a pretty visual/told joke, taken right from the 'ancient comedy'. And Niles and Fran in the end take their 'revenge' toward the kids who have driven them crazy before. The scripts from season 1 to 3 were the best.

Loved the juice scene and CC revenge over her oh so lovely friends LOL

It's the best of the first season. The kids all sick at the same time. The "missing link" at the doctors and when Fran says that she wants Maxwell to have her. I loved when Fran tells Maxwell that she loves him. Early or not I think she ment it. The last line "that's not applejuice" is a classic!!!

A great ep. Niles was hillarious. "Not a word, Niles." "I wouldn't think of it Sir." walks out "Ha haha" Brighton "One slip of the scalpel" Maggie "Fran can I have this if..." Fran and the remote control. Very, very funny.

A good, solid episode, with lots of LOL moments - Fran & Niles trying to take care of 3 sick kids, Fran playing with the "remote" in the hospital, "Shister Meffield," & C.C. dancing with the ladle & then drinking the "juice" at the end! All great!

I absolutely loved this episode. It really showed Fran and Gracie like mother and daughter. In the doctor's office when she emptied out all of the containers and then suddenly had a popsicle stick when the doctor needed one LOL. When Fran said "Shister Meffield, I love you" I thought for sure that was it. When Brighton was "comforting" Fran LOL[Didn't Ben say in an AOL chat that he was trying to say scalpel and he couldn't get it and when he finally did Fran was cracking up so they had to redo it? I thought he listed it as his favorite blooper]. When Fran was pulling things out of that bag at the end that was like Mary Poppins LOL. My all time favorite was when C.C. came in and said something about her dream had come true and she had died and gone to heaven and Niles said "I had that dream only you were in the other direction" ROTFL. And the end with the "apple juice" and when I saw Niles laughing in the background I lost it. Just one word.... HILARIOUS!

One of the best - it's near the top of my list - do you think that's a real lady in the bed next to her? How did she stay so still!!

WE love The Nanny! It's our favorite show and we try to watch it every day. Two episode we have not seen is "Frans Roots" and "The Wedding".

A ROTFL laughing episode from start to finish - and all the reasons listed already. My only problem was trying to figure out the time frame. When exactly did Fran have this tonsilectomy? She went into the hospital, everyone left for the nightand said they'd be back for surgery the next day yet Max was very late for CC's reunion the next night? Longest tonsilectomy I've ever heard of. (Of course, if it had been the adenoids being removed!) My favorite scene - Grace leaving Fran her teddy bear!

I just love it!!! One of the best in this season, especially when Fran says:"Sister Meffield I love you" and his reaktion after that!!! Just terrific!!

Ah! The show that introduced us to that intelligent woman with fantastic good taste - Nurse Smith!
NURSE SMITH: I'm Nurse Smith ---Get in bed!
NILES: I'm not the patient!
NURSE SMITH: I KNOW!!!
YOU GO GIRL!

This is one of my favorite episodes. When Fran tells Maxwell she loves him, he looks so sweet and so excited. You can start to see their feelings for one another with his concern about the surgery. And I loved the part with C.C. trying to drink the "apple juice". What a riot!

I feel like I slammed the last half of season one, but now all these good eps keep creeping up. This one was funny. I loved it. Another one that I would call classic. Thumbs up in my book.

This is an hilarious episode. Max acts really full of himself, saying how he can't blame Fran for saying she love's him. But this was overall a great episode, just not one of my favorites.

I love this particular episode. The part in the hospital where Fran says "Shister Mefield" i want you to have me" just the way she says it is LOL all the way. Of course i also like the part where she tells Max she loves him. My other fav scenes are CC drunk at the party and the end scene where she picks up the glass of juice on the table and drinks it while Fran writes on the board...."That's not apple juice" LOL LOL LOL

1.16 Schlepped Away

The nasty New York winter has the family yearning for a warm tropical vacation. But on the way to the airport, the continuing snowstorm (and C.C.'s bladder) force them to make a pit stop at Sylvia's apartment. While there, they find the snow has caused the closure of the airport and the bridges back into Manhattan, and they are stuck. Making the best of a bad situation, they all manage to enjoy the weekend anyway. Written by: Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson. Kenny Karakas: Gregg Rogell

Our responses (44) gave the episode a 8.0 overall, a 8.4 for the comedy, and a 6.0 for romance.
Some comments received were:

I love the scene where C.C. climbs into bed with Niles thinking it was Max.

I love this episode!! One of my all time favorites!!! I love the line "Join the club!!" It was hilarious!! A ten!!

I LOVED this one! This one told me that this show was going to last and last. (And it did - for a while!) Everybody was wonderful. Of course my favorite was CC getting in bed with Niles. "If you're looking for the hot water bottle - that's not it!"

I thought this episode was really funny! The love notes in the meat was just hilarious!!! I also loved when Niles told CC that all the roads and the airport were closed down due to the snow...ROTFL!! =D just classic nanny all the way!

Okay, this IS one of my all time favorite episodes. Not a minute goes by that isn't hillarious. Starting with "Who's that gorgeous, tan, brunette...oh she must be the Nanny", Max leans over to look "Can't be....her mouth is closed!" The limo ride 'ou-ee, ou-ee baby", "The Oy's in the Hood!!" Sylvia's creative cooking. Gracie and Brighton were wonderful. Maggie's new friend. CC...."Oh please let me tell her!" Okay so the romance wasn't there yet, but other than that it was terrific.

I loved this episode. It was funny and very well written. When they were trying to have a vacation at Sylvia's and she mentioned "tounge" and Wheel of Fortune. Not to mention Max not knowing about Gilligan's Island and C.C.'s reaction when Niles got to tell her that nobody was going anywhere. When C.C. wrote on the window HELP LOL and Maggie stating "I'm in Hell" and C.C. shot back "Join the club" LOL. Favorite scene was Niles and C.C. accidentally in bed "If you're looking for the hotwater bottle that's not it" ROTFL. Great episode and one of my Personal favorites.

I like very much this episode, it was very funny (as every episode of The Nanny). The only part I don't like is the finale when Silvia offers to B. the meat and I think it's necessary a bit more of romance between Fran and Max. So, overall:8

Hi, I love this Nanny ep, it was so funny! I loved when C.C. thinks it's Max in the bed and it's actually Niles. "If you're looking for the hot water bottle, that's not it." I couldn't stop laughing. And when Sylvia said, "You couldn't have called first, I would've windexed the couch." It was cute how Maggie liked Kenny. And for all the Niles fans, did Daniel Davis not look just adorable in that "World's Greatest Lover" shirt. It was a good ep overall. I give it a 10!

I just loved the part where all the Shieffields offer little Grace the tongue, which Sylvia made. Funny funny. Also the part of C.C. writting "HELP ME" on the window!. Great episode!

This ep was filled with jokes. I love it when Maxwell says "This is really quite troubling. You're telling me that this Gilligan chap NEVER gets of the island?" Welcome to the real world Maxwell!

This was one of the classic ep. Hilarious jokes. Sylvias love letters in the meet, CC's HELP on the window, Maggies "date". Not to forgot CC's toungfree diet (what would the senator say?!?).

I LOVED this episode. Not a second goes by that it's not hilarious. From "Who's that gorgeous tanned girl on the beach- oh she must be the nanny" and Max shot back "It can't be her mouth is closed" LOL. When Niles got to tell C.C. that nobody was going anywhere, "tounge", and the "Oy's in the hood" ROTFL. Best scenes were with Kenny and Maggie and of course Niles and C.C. "If your looking for the hot water bottle- that's not it." HILARIOUS one of THE BEST EPISODES.

This was my least favorite nanny ever. It was boring and there was no real plot. Didn't care for it!

This one was just a cute ep. I really enjoyed it and it is one that I think it gets better everytime I see it. Everyone was involved, and that was probably the best part. There are too many good points to mention. Lots of great lines as well. Overall, a wonderful ep.

One of the best! I think it's funnier each time I see it! Sylvia, "The Carribean, Feh, you never know when there's gonna be a revolution, a coup." The family in the limo, and Max gently ribbing Fran ("Can't be, her mouth is closed.") Ahh. Proving once again funny situations can arise from the simplest of plots.

Loved it!!! The scenes with Niles & CC were hilarious! "If you're looking for the hot water bottle, that's not it!" LOL Niles in the "World's Greatest Lover" t-shirt--"I hope no great expectations accompany this outfit" LOL Everyone was great! Overall 10!!!

I loved this ep too, but I wouldn't call it one of my ALL-TIME favorites (i.e. The Engagement, Pup in Paris, An Affair to Dismember and some other ones) but I thought it was hilarious and 'classic nanny' :) The places I was REALLY laughing was when CC was in bed with 'Maxwell' (hehe) and when Max was clueless about Gilligan's Island! Oh, and the beginning part that that other person mentioned 'Starting with "Who's that gorgeous, tan, brunette...oh she must be the Nanny", Max leans over to look "Can't be....her mouth is closed!"' Oh yes, and the shirt Niles was wearing :) I debated between 8 and 9, ending up 8 overall :)

*~This is one of my all-time favorite episodes! IT's good, clean, classic comic fun. I love how you see the family watching tv in the beginning and hating it, but watching the same show after being exposed to the FIne Family warmth and loving it.~*

The more I see this episode the more I appreciate it. It was a real emsemble piece, that used everyone, that was included,so very well. I've never found a man in sock garter and a novelty night gown sexy, but each time I see this show I think Woo hoo! This episode was a wonderful opportunity to get to see the whole "group" perform.

Genouk already! What happened to "Deep Throat"? My best guess is that it was only posted for 3 days, and I didn't even get to comment on the most romantic episode of the 1st season! If I had, I'd have said that Niles was on a roll, the "Shister Meffield" was SO sweet, and when Max told Niles the "Last thing in the world he wanted to do was hurt her", I think he really meant it (as did Fran earlier) although they didn't realize it yet. Also, the Nanny/Mary Poppins connection at the end was very cute. But I didn't. ANYWAY, "Schlepped Away" did not have one particular standout this time, but that shows how an ensemble cast can work together for what turned out to be a really cute show. Even Max had to admit at the end they were having a good time. Even though there was not as much romance as some people would have liked, who did Fran turn to when she found out about her mom's 'affair'? Who shared milk in the middle of the night? Who was concerned about Fran after her fight w/Sylvia? Max. P.S. The red and yellow PJ's w/the black spots were from the last ep of the 2nd season (Fran Gets Mugged?) if I'm not mistaken. [webmaster's note: Actually, Deep Throat was up the standard five days. The schedule, in case anybody is paying enough attention to care, is a new episode posted on Monday, Friday, then the following Wednesday. Confusing, I know.]

I STARTED LAUGHING WHEN FRAN AND HER MOTHER SAID AT TH SAME TIME "WHATS WITH YOU ME WHATS WITH YOU"

As others have said - a great ensemble episode and a chance for the Sheffields to actually discover and learn from the world of Fran and the Fines. Almost all on the one set - Sylvia and Morty's apartment - and ending up with everyone (except maybe CC) discovering the warmth of 'family' - although it was LOL that as soon as the roads were clear they were out of there! All the funniest lines have already been mentioned ('her mouth is closed', 'that's not it', etc.) Like 'The Butler, the Husband...' another classic ensemble show.

Another great episode from the first season. The whole idea of the family snowbound at the Fines was LOL! Favorite bits: B wanting to know where Sylvia's *other* bathroom was (in the diner on the corner - LOL), Niles sleeping on the floor & everyone falling over him, and Max in his tropical shirt watching Gilligan's Island & Wheel of Fortune. Also, Fran & Max's relationship seems much closer. More friendship there then simply the boss/nanny association they had going previously. My only quarrel was with the line about Fran's father watching Pauly give Sylvia the meat. UGH The rest, I loved.

This is my all time favorite "family episode". All of the characters just clicked together like clockwork. Okay, maybe it wasn't as sensual as "Honeymoon Overboard" but you have to admit it was sweet and sentimental. I love seeing how Fran and Max slowly develop a relationship. The friendly bittersweet moments make the romance stronger. The conversation in the kitchen. The limo scene when she just so happens to get car sick. How Max cared enough to be sympathic towards Miss Fine at all hours. The tongue banquet in front of the tube. I just loved it. It was funny and memorable for both Sheiffeld fans, and who could forget Mr. and Mrs. Niles. C.C. in a float,Niles in a "Sexy" Tee and garders, and the Hot water bottle. "Oys in the Hood" and Max's reaction to Gilligan was histerical.Enough said...

I loved this episode. It uses all the main characters at the same time. Fav parts, Niles in the shirt LOL. Maggie and C.C. at the window. Of course everyone giving Grace the tounge and watching Wheel of Fortune. Just and overall good family episode.

1.17 Stop The Wedding, I Want To Get Off

Maxwell's sister comes for a visit, and surprises everyone with the announcement that she is engaged to be married. The couple decides to have the nuptials at the Sheffield house, and Fran is in her element planning for the happy occasion. But she senses something is up between Jocelyn and her chauffeur, and isn't really surprised when the wedding doesn't come off as planned. Written by: Diane Wilk. Jocelyn "Mopsey" Sheffield: Twiggy Lawson, Lester: Leigh J. Lawson, Nigel Waters: Lane Davies, Kenny Karakas: Gregg Rogell

Our responses (43) gave the episode a 8.0 overall, a 7.8 for the comedy, and a 7.7 for romance.
Some comments received were:

I thought this episode was really great! It was only the beginning of Fran and her making everything right! I think the best part of the entire episode was when max was talking about loving someone u work with and when he was leaving the kitchen, looked at Fran..it was only the beginning of the romance to come!! great ep!

I loved this episode!! My favorite part was when Jocelyn and the Duke decided to get married. "I hate golf, let's get married." Two thumbs up!!

I love the part when Fran starts to sing the Barney song "I love you". Funny! Also when Fran gives some "coaching" to Gracie just before she enters the wedding. Great ep!

Stolen glances, final scene = social contract with the viewing audience! How could we have ever had doubts in seasons 4 and 5?

I love all episodes.

Great ep. Fran makes everything the right way (her Flushing common sens way) You could feel the romance in the last sceen with Maxwell and Fran in the kitchen.

I think it was a wonderful ep. and the beginning of Fran and Max "relationship". Great one!

This is a special episode, the point at which it is first acknowledged that there is more to Max & Fran's relationship then simple friendship. First, Fran not only knows that Max has a sister, but what her name is as well (while C.C. was left completely out in the cold), then Niles makes that crack about Max talking in his sleep, and finally Max & Fran openly discuss the possibility that someone could fall in love with a person that works for them - and are "amazed" that they would take so long for them realize it & to act on their feelings. A promise to the viewers of the romance to come. My favorite scenes were when Fran dragged Max out of bed in the middle of the night to talk, and the final bit at the end when they both steal a glance at each other after their talk.

Fran, who makes matchmaker for Jocelyn and Lester, telling the man her point of view about love and differences, and then simply making a comment about the shrimp — usual Nanny way for put comedy in every situation. Certainly in the end Max and Fran give us a glimpse on the future, they were meant to be, but they took plenty of time to understand, 4 years are too much even in a TV show. Twiggy as Mopsey was way better than the other actress who played the character.

NANNY IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!! I LOVE IT BUT I DO NOT LOVE C.C BUT THER IS NOBODY HO LOVE HER IS IT.. ( I M ONLY JOKING) HUGG HUGG LOV EFROM A BIG FANS HO WATS YOUR SHOV EVERY DAY!!!!

The last scene with Fran and Max really made this episode. Was this the start of a 'Fine Romance'? BTW, didn't Nigel make Max look a bit 'loosey goosey'? A nice episode... good to see Kenny again. Fran looked great in her dress for the wedding and Gracie panicking about being a flower girl was just so cute. (Shame we never get to see Lester or Twiggy as Jocelyn again but that's sort of cheating on these comments!)

Great episode.....the final scene in the kitchen gets me every time. <<Sigh>>

Well, Lane Davies is one of my favorite actors, so that just added to a sweet, funny show. Fran at her meddling best, a hint of things to come with Fran and Max, and kids (and adults!) being kids. This was definitely a character episode (the entire cast has found their groove!)

I liked this episode, but I thought it was a little bit slow now and then. I liked it when Niles said that he always cries at weddings and Fran takes a picture.

This is a favorite episode of mine from the first season (along w/a couple others). I think the best part (beside the aforementioned last scene w/Fran & Max looking at each other when the other one wasn't), was when Joscelyn commented to Max about describing Fran all wrong/QE2 and Fran looked at Max and said, "Mr. Sheffield, you've been writing about me?" Max looked more than a little sheepish as he admitted that he had, and then went on to something else- quickly! Yes, guys, it IS possible to love someone you work with!

Oy, I din't know that Lester was played bu Twiggys real hubby. I loved Fran's Dress for the wedding and Lane Davis has always been a favorite of mine since Santa Barbara. The ep was ok because of the three L's. Lauren, Lane and Leigh. Gee got her whole name there. Twiggy was great to. I love Lauren in any ep!!!!

i thought this ep was really cute! plus it had a little premonition of the years to come

I enjoyed this episode - I wish they could have gotten Twiggy back to play Max's sister at Fran's wedding - maybe she wanted more steak and kidney pie!

This was such a cute episode. Not one of my favorites, but still overall a great episode.

Not the best. It had its moments, but again fell short for me. The Duke was funny, liked Jocelyn, but didn't you get the impression she liked Fran? (I know this is cheating, but in the Wedding she acted like she hated her. That's kinda wierd.) The romance was the strong point, even if it was just a few stolen glances, it definately promised better things to come.

I loved this episode. In fact i love all episodes!!!!!! Especially the last scene that was just the beginning as we all know.

this is one of the beginning episodes we had on tape, so I have seen it many times and it is a favorite! This is one that hints very strongly at how Max and Fran would somehow get together. The humor pitting the British stoic mentality against Fran and her Queens logic was outrageous. The kids interaction with the different family members is classic. This is the real Jocelyn and the one who should have continued to play her on the series. She was warm and funny and confused and out of control, quite the opposite of Maxwell. It was a good contrast and started to introduce you to his family. It was great how Fran organized everything and how she loved weddings. The whole family was involved in this one, with Maggie being boy crazy to Fran's Mom butting in.
Classic moment was Max telling Fran not to say anything to Jocelyn about the chauffeur being in love and she says "I would never say anything to Jocelyn" and then immediately turning to HIM as soon as Max leaves the room.
A funny episode that elevated the romantic tension between Fran and Max. Fantastic!

I think that it was smart of Jocilyn to marry Lester eventhough they do get a divorce later on. But at least he made her feel alive, right?

Was Lester played by Twiggy's real hubby??? Thank God the kisses between Fran and Max are more passionate in the show! Anyway, a fun ep and oyyyyyyy that kitchen scene in the end! cute cute cute!

1.18 Sunday In The Park With Fran

Maxwell and C.C. are opening a new play, and are trying to schmooze the critics into liking it. C.C. insists that Grace invite the son of one of the harshest critics along on a play date to the park, hoping to impress the father through the son. However, the kid turns out to be obnoxious, and to protect Grace from him, Fran smacks him with a loaf of bread. When the critic/father threatens to sue, Maxwell insists Fran apologize. That doesn't go well either, but don't worry, Fran eventually saves the day anyway. Written by: Howard Meyers. this was a pretty good one. very cute. i love the part where the woman in the park thinks fran is the mother of all the kids and that they all have different fathers. and i remember that kid from full house! he always plays a brat! in the words of fran (in this ep and in this section) "i loved it, it was a masterpice, two thumbs up!"

Oh God, I think my heart skipped a beat at the end when Max kissed Fran! This was so early in the series and already they have romance. I loved when the kids were at the table asking who all the famous people were. The scene where Max tells off Frank was excellent! And how about that Dan Akroyd? I saw it in syndication, and I thought the tag scene was prety cool as well. I give it a 9!!!!

what can i say about this ep??? it was awesome!!! my favorite part of course was the first kiss of our most romantic couple Fran and Max!!! It was really a glimpse into the future of what we would see develop into a beautiful romance...also my fave part was when maxwell said to Frank's little boy Frank jr.."what a charming little snot, I mean tot!" overall funny ep..also liked when Dan akroyd played the refrigerator repairman..so funny!!! great ep!

I love this episode!! The whole first-kiss-bar-scene craked me up!!! My favorite line was "I sound so nasal!!" Two thumbs up!! : )

What say about this, wonderful: Fran and CC running into Max' office, Fran beating the kid with a baguette (was that B's line in 6.2 a reference to this episode?), Niles, the kid and the finger sandwiches, and that end, of course. 2 thumbs up!You could watch it anytime!

This ep is SOOO cute! I just love the scene where Max kisses Fran and she doesn't know what to do then goes: " Any time, Mr. Sheffield. Any time." LOL And Dan Akroyd as the repairman was just hilarious! Plus at the end, all the guys dancing... it was a great ep. Two thumbs up! : )

This episode was incredibly cute. I loved it when Gracie said "I'm not hers am I?" and Fran said "Oh no honey you don't shed your skin" ROTFL. Also in the park and the kid was hitting something with that nerf gun and Fran said 'Stop it' and he shot her with it.LOL. Hilarious when Fran accidently mislead the woman in the park. And who can forget Brighton and the "Breadbox"! Not to mention Fran and "A man like you deserves a good finger now and then" ROTFL. Who can forget the first kiss between Fran and Max? Dan Ackroyd was incredible that whole scene I was "cracking" up.[The Gap, The Crack!]I loved it at the end when Fran introduced Dan Ackroyd and we got to see them dance especially Lauren and Daniel.

this was one of the first kisses...really good episode... i loved the kiss part and fran didn't know what to say..

Soy de Argentina y el programa me encanta. He podido ver casi todos los capitulos de las seis temporadas y me paracen geniales.Gracias a todos los actores, y demas integrantes de The Nanny. Perdon por no escribir en ingles. Los quiero mucho. Vero.

"Watch out, she's armed", "Put the bagel down and move away from the bread box" Classic lines like this, how could you NOT love every single second of this ep. And to think that there are two more eps this season that I enjoyed more than this one. It is no wonder that the show made it into a second season. a wonderful overall.

This was the first episode of The Nanny that I ever saw, way back in the second season, and it was the one that got me hooked on the show for the next 5 years, so for me this has always been a good one. The scenes in the park were so funny and that bratty little kid turning before leaving the Sheffield house and saying to Maxwell:"you'll never work again in this town". Of course that spur of the moment kiss between Max and Fran was pretty memorable too. Two thumbs up from this critic.

It was a great episode!!!

I love this episode. The comedy is great "Baguettes don't hurt people, people hurt people." and of course the first kiss! My fav lines: C.C."Would it be on the Ptah list?" Fran"That's P.T.A. mother Hubburd." and Gracie : "She really nailed him Pow!" Fran: "Don't help honey."

This was one of the best of the first season! In the park when Gracie is bullid by the "brat" and his father who deservs a "good finger now and then". In the theater when Maxwell gives Fran a kiss. This first kiss promissed the great romance to come. "Two thumbs up" ;-)

What can I say it was a great ep. Loved Max telling off Frank. All in all two thumbs up.

I thought it was funny, and i loved the part when i saw fran and maxwell 's first kiss.

so many memorable lines and moments in this ep, most (if not all) already mentioned. A classic example of why this show did so well & why we remain so loyal to it.

AHHH! The first kiss! My favorite part is the look on Fran's face right after Max kisses her. It only took Max four and a half months to kiss her, and another 4 and a half years to Marry her.

Gracie 'I'm not hers, AM I?', 'I'm shutting down' Maggie 'Look out she's armed', B 'Put the bagel down'..... And of course Fran 'Any time Mr. Sheffield, Any Time....' What's not to love?

How could you not love the episode with the 'first kiss'! All the other reasons are listed already too - breadbox, Ptah, baguettes, fingers, etc. At the risk of sounding repetitious - 'Two Thumbs Up'

I thougt it was pretty good episode! I liked that is was Fran and Max's first Kiss (out of many to come) :o)

I like the part where the little boy is over Gracie treating her like if she was a horse! Great ep!

One of my favorites. "We broke bread" was a great line. The finger line to the father was so appropiate. The kid was so obnoxious, he deserved a good finger now and then. When Mag, B, and Gracie were asking who Mary Martin was , is so true to life. Of course the Plumber takes the cake or takes the crack. We all know Dan is one of Fran and Peter's best friends, as is his wife Donna Dixon. He was a good friend to do this great cameo part. I guess "This Magic Moment" is for when Fran and Max kiss. The tag was fun and leaves you wanting more.

I really loved this one, as it has Fran and Maxwell's first kiss...but let me go on.... A great premise, as it shows Fran trying to deal with raising the kids. Another of many guests from Y&R comes to visit the Nanny, this time as a critic. The kid was fantastic as a brat and junior critic. CC shows just how shallow she is and Grace is classic in this one. Favorite moments were Niles with "everyone deserves a good finger now and again" and Brighton, "put down the bagel and step away from the breadbox". Chester even has a role in this one, biting the critic. But the best moment is the kiss between Fran and Max, who sheepishly looks away after he realizes what happened and then quickly shakes her hand to cover it up. You could tell then, he was falling for her. A definite favorite to enjoy again and again!

How could you not of loved this episode with the first kiss between Fran and Max! I just loved it its one of the best episode of the show.

Great episode! All the reasons to love it have already been listed except at the end (right before 'the kiss') when Fran was waving & saying 'hi ma', Max was grinning like an idiot and waving back to her. That was really cute (I thought). Right after that, he turns to kiss her, realizes right afterward he may have gotten carried away, and the rest, is history! (Two thumbs up!)
