this is an ok episode, not one of my fauvourites. Love when Fran says"Oh stop it youīre embarassing me"
This was a pretty good one!! I loved the line, "I'm sorry I'm late. I couldn't find a braseirre that hooked in the front." Personally...Yetta stole the show!! Excellent!!
Not one of my favorites, but it was funny. I always enjoy seeing Yetta on the show. It wasnt romantic but it was very funny.
"The Nanny Behind The Man"was to a great extend a yetta-episode.ann guilbert, respectively her character, made a great appearance.already her 'handling' of one of max' body-parts made the show worth seeing.(the joke was fabulous).well, there was little doubt that poor maxwell would have some sexuell disturbances after his experience and would have be abstinent for some time(until fran would take her hands on him!!!!).hey, maybe thats the reason why he did not make his commitment to fran for so long.it was also great to hear that yetta thought max and fran were already married.in addition to this yetta reproached maxwell for not looking after fran.although she only foresaw some developments, she was perfect right.he should think about more often what he owned in fran!since of yettas appearance the rest of the crew stepped into the background.but neverthelessc.c. and niles were as always excellent(i'm not certain that c.c. minded yettas advice how to walk in the right way)the story followed the familiar model:max get involved in frans ideas, fran does trash and so on and so on...... .but still i could not understand why max blamed fran for everything, although she anyway was not the offender.
This was not one of my favorite episodes.
The comedy rates high because it featured probably the funniest person in the show - the delightful Yetta. from being a tawdry plaything with a 'sexy' walk and a hook in front brassiere who likes to play under tables - "That was you!" - and got out of it all with a couch! Otherwise, without Yetta it was just OK.
I agree- Yetta stole the show! Not my favorite episode overall, but Yetta was great! Because she's always portrayed as senile, I think we tend to believe she's really that way, and it was refreshing to see her as a focal point of this ep.
coooooooool!

Sorry, but I really don't love this weeks episode. I enjoy episods that mostly focus on Fran And max.
I love this episode, so many classic moments! The scene where Niles catches Fran and Max while Fran is undressed is just hilarious!! I like Kurt the Nanny, he and Fran were great as a mismatched couple. I loved Max getting jealous and starting to notice Fran. It was great to see them both so stylishly casual in this one, it really symbolizes how comfortable they are becoming with each other. Some really romantic moments. Great moments with Gracie and Brighton. A real winner!
I absolutely love this one. I crack up every time I think of Niles standing in the doorway with that look of pleased amazement on his face while watching Max trying to get Fran's top off. Max: Don't worry Miss Fine, we'll get it on. Fran: Oh Mr Sheffield, I'm so hot. Max: Well I can't do this standing up, just get on the bed. The look on Max's face when he sees Niles watching is priceless. The scene which follows is just as funny. Niles hands CC the note which obviously describes a version of what he saw going on between Max and Fran. As CC sobs: WHY and drops her head to the countertop, he slips the meat cleaver into her purse saying: Now don't do anything rash, as poor CC slinks away totally depressed. Too funny.
Well, this is one of my favorites. I thought it was hilarious, from the baseball game (finally, some family time!), to Grace thinking she was pregnant, to Max's jealousy, to Niles' infinite wisdom. Not very "romantic", but it did get the point across. Although at the end, Max gets his chance to ogle Fran right back. Overall a really funny, smart episode.
I liked this one a lot. The *whole* bedroom scene was ROTFL as was whole sub-plot of Gracie's 'pregnancy'. And Kurt was good to look at, too!
10! This is one of my favorite episodes! The sceen in Fran's room was hilarious. I loved it.
I thought fine friendship was a funny and kinda romentic.
LOL, GREAT, LOT OF FUN!!! It's one of my fav. especially when Max came into her room and saw them kissing and then when he didn't say somthing 'bout Fran in her bra and she said that hylarious line (I don't remember exactly but it was something like she was going to think he was gay)well, and when he tries to take off her shirt and Niles come in. LOL!!:)
Probably like everyone else I loved the scene in Fran's bedroom with first Kurt and then Max. The double entendres that Max said while trying to help her get her dress un-stuck were priceless-- to say nothing of Niles looks and comments when he saw what was going on.
the story of"A Fine Friendship" did not refer to a romantic one at the beginning, but nevertheless the episode developed into a fran/max-episode.and although the affair with kurt was quite good, the romantic action was of course better.as usual some great scenes were bound up with that.let's take max' and fran's little play with their 'back-views'.it was an outstanding way to point out the sexual tension between them.but of course the highlight of the episode was the scene in fran's room, including niles' appearance.he emerged in the right moment and besides the obligatory saying in direction of c.c. his facial-play was sensationel.without a doubt one of my favourite scenes of "The Nanny":funny and romantic(and that's what it's all about)i also liked gracies baby and the suprise that kurt was not gay at all.since, before the truth came to the surface, all prejudices were mentioned,it was also a criticsm of prejudices.maybe one can citicize the way niles tried to call fran's and max' attention to their feelings for each other.only little different we had seen it in "Fran Lite".but who says that good ideas do not work more than one time?
I loved this episode. Like everyone else probably, the favorite scene is in the bedroom--very classic Nanny stuff there. But I gotta say I LOL'd at the song for this week--with all the "turn around, I think you sat in something" going on in the episode, having the "Turn Around" mirrored in the song was great! [webmaster's note: Somebody GOT it! Yay! Plus Max being jealous too of course. ]
This is an all around GREAT EP! Brighton's impersonation of Kate Hepburn as catcher. Fran's explanation to Niles about why Kurt MUST be gay. Her realization that Kurt was anything but gay. The bedroom scene Niles "If you let me tell Miss Babcock about this I'll work free for a year." Poor Gracie "We slept together, and we were late for the Lion King...P.S. I'M PREGNANT" and little Willie's anxiety, "I don't know how to get to the hospital!" and timing Grace's Subtractions LOL. And Max carefully studying Kurt's headshot's to discover that "I knew it, his teeth are capped". I could go on, but I should leave room for the rest of you.
This was one of the funniest episodes that I have ever seen. When niles wrote down what mr. sheffield said! Hysterical!!
As with everyone else, I thought one of the funniest scenes, not only in the whole show, but in the whole series was Fran & Max in the bedroom trying to get Fran's shirt off. There were many other clever subplots- Gracie thinking she was pregnant, the baseball game (and Brighton's awesome impression of Katherine Hepburn), and C.C. being the keeper of Niles' pension. All in all a very clever episode.
Laughed deeply at Niles walking in on Fran and Max. Liked the scene with him and CC in the kitchen, too.
this was a favorite of mine..especially the line " if you let me tell ms babcock about this i'll work free for a year". It was hilarious " Don't worry miss fine we'll get it on".. Oh mr sheffield i'm hot" And when fran says" Why didn't you tell me" Max -"well i didn't notice" Fran-i'm beginning to wonder about you too!
I love this episode. The secene where Niles catch Max and Fran on the bed is one of my favorite moments of The Nanny.
Very funny! A nanny-classic, I'd say. Grace's pregnancy, Max's jealousy and that "you sat in something" made this one of the episodes to remember ! ;0)
It is a Great episode! The part where Niles puts the knife on C.Cīs purse is just LOL! Plus when Niles discovers Max trying to get off Franīs dress it is also really funny. LOL
Yeah, the stuff with Max and Fran on the bed made me crack up, not to mention the 'So and so, I think you have a rip...' LOL! But the parts that really made me laugh was when Niles said 'There, there, don't do anything rash' and stuck the knife in C.C.'s purse. And also, the parts when Niles is going to Max and Fran about taking the last pear and apple, comparing it to them, and Fran and Max not having a clue! (i.e. 'Good God man, have a bloody pear!') LOL!!!
Oh, I *so* loved this episode when I saw it for the first time!! It started out as a
great comedy, with the characters in perfect balance and in-character (Fran to Gracie "Now,
check yourself how I taught you.")
And then the evolution towards the Fran/Maxwell 'situation'. It started out with the teasing
"No, no, looking good..." bits, then went crescendo to that *hilarious* bedroom scene!! And
then, that nagging feeling, which they just cannot identify... even Niles' apple and pear
analogies didn't help :-)
Loved it!!
C.C. is getting some work done on her apartment and has to move out for a few days, so she leaves Chester at the Sheffield house. Meanwhile, Sheffield Productions is in negotions for the movie rights for Lambchop The Movie, and Shari Lewis and Lampchop come to stay at the house. But Chester has a habit of eating everything he can, and Lambchop is just too tasty a dish to resist. Written by: Frank Lombardi and Dana Reston. Shari Lewis and Lambchop as themselves, Lambchop's Puppeteer: Pat Brymer, Chester. |
Our responses (34) gave the episode a 7.5 overall, a 8.4 for the comedy, and a 4.6 for romance.
Some comments received were:
It was cute, not one of my favorites though.
I love the part where Chester eats Lamb Chop!
Even though it's corny, I love this episode. I think it's hilarious. The whole slo-mo chariots of fire thing with CC pushing Brighton over and Fran picking him up and checking her lipstick was so funny. I also liked CC's line to Sherry Lewis - "The lamb was holding you back. I hear she was seeing another hand" or something like that.
This was a very funny episode, I have always been a fan of Lambchop and Shari
Ilove "The Nanny!"
I don't even have to pop this one into the VCR to offer an opinion - this is one of my all time favorite episodes! Just the thought of that line about "wearing a rubber glove" makes me laugh! And "Purge, Chester! Purge!" ACK!!!!!!!! Truely a classic! [webmaster's note: One of my favorite Nanny moments too---and it got cut out in the syndicated market. One of those cuts I shake my head in wonder at... but I suppose it didn't really move the story along. But Fran holding that dog face down over the sink was a scream!]
This episode was pretty boring.
in my opinion "Lambchopp's On The Menu" clearly belongs to the slips of the show and it also was the poorest episode of the second season so far. there was nothing really important and for the european fans it was hardly to understand what should have been so interesting in shari lewis and that idiotic doll.(sorry but we do not even know one of them)since the gueststars had a great influence this week, the story was boring.both shari lewis and lambchop got on my nerves!!!!!!(despite this the Nanny-Gueststars usually are great)the only useful idea was the one to let the doll chat maxwell up.as a result of this the good elements of the show were rare.besides the race of fran and c.c. through the house, niles was called 'mr. belvedere'.i think this was overdue!and of course there were the usual niles/c.c. jokes.maybe i speculate too much, but did i watch fran drescher how she prevented herself from laughing in the last second?it was the moment after she said:(german translation-of course i do not know what she said in the original)'i was one year older'everytime it is suprising that they can shoot the show by doing such amazing and funny stuff.
One of the most hilarious episodes of the show!!
beatiful
I love the Nanny, but I didnīt like this episode.
A cute episode - I remember watching Shari and Lambchop as a kid. It's a shame she just died - and not so old! Loved the whole 'Chester ate Lambchop' stuff and the chase. Loved the end where even Shari got sent back to the kitchen when Lambchop went off with Max.
Funny, but not very romantic.
Oh I love this episode. All those corny baaaaaad lamb jokes! Whoever thought Shari Lewis was such a good sport. Chester! what a talented little fur covered colon. Lambchop "That's un-possible, I'm only six." Fran "I used to watch on my little black and... Lambchop "I'M ONLY SSSSSSSiX" The race to Maxwell was a scream CC "Let's not forget who's responsible for this.." Max "Your Dog" Fran's lambchop makeover and B "Oh, Chester must have thrown her down the laundry shoot, like I used to do with Gra...cious me, look at the time." It wasn't terribly romantic (though in a sick way, Fran freakin' cuz Max wasn't saying anything was sorta romantic in a disfunction Fran and Max way), but it was completely original.
This was not one of my favorite episodes, but it does have a couple standout things about it- first, the chase with Fran & C.C. to Maxwell's office was a trip! Second, C.C.'s line to Shari- "The lamb was holdin' you back! She told me she was seeing another hand!" I also like the way C.C. was made the scapegoat for a change. It seems like, especially in the earlier episodes, "Mr. Sheffield is gonna find a way to blame this on me" (to quote Fran), but this was C.C.'s dog and indirectly C.C.'s fault, and even though it wasn't terribly romantic, it put Max and Fran together against C.C. and they sort of bonded in that way.
excellent !
I thought lamb chop and Shari lewis were funny, and my favoite part was at the end when lambshop throw shari ,fran and cc out.
Well, I did not really enjoy this ep THAT much which is probably due to the fact that I'm European and just did not get all this stuff about lambchop. But there were some really good lines in it and that race through the house was just awesome! Well, basically I love every Nanny ep!
It was extremely funny. I like the part when CC walked into the house withe the lamb coat on and how Lambchop reacted. lol
I loved this episode. It is on my top ten list. Itwas justso funny and original. There were some great lines and scenes in this episode, butthebest had to be the TAG. It was so funny how lambchop threw Fran, C.C., and Shari out of the room. The best line had to be "Purge, purge, do I have to stick your paw down your throat?" I was so mad that they cut it out.
I loved the episode.especially because Fran, wore a multi-coloured sweater, with a pink col. Iīll like the sweater. where itīs in. The rest of the episode I found pretty good to.
Maggie is volunteering at a hospital, but when her boyfriend asks her out on an important date, she asks Fran to fill in for her. Meanwhile, Maxwell has been in extreme pain since C.C. started feeding him stuff she made in her cooking class. When a doctor mistakes Fran as a nurse, she ends up prepping Mr. Sheffield for his appendectomy surgery. Written by: Elliot Stern. Peter Bidwell: Ron Melendez, Nurse: Christina Pickles, Doctor: Steven Anderson. Lee Ryan, Gerry McIntyre. |

I loved this one!!! Definitely a shining comedic moment in Nanny history. You just knew something would go wrong when Fran agreed to cover for Maggie at work. The look on Fran's face when she realized just where the doctor wanted her to shave was priceless and if you pay close attention, Charles has a hard time trying to keep a straight face in this scene. Niles reaction to the situation, "Bucking for a raise?", was LOL funny. Overall, this was one of the greatest episodes of The Nanny and one of the biggest reasons why I think the second season was the Nanny's best.
I loved the part where fran has to shave max for sergury and when she's putting on the shaving cream and niles walks in and says "Bucking for a raise"
Fran at her best! An episode everybody should have seen because the shaving scene is one of the funniest ever.
Every "Nanny" show is great, what else can I say?
How could ya not love this one ? All the cast got to strut their best comic stuff in Close Shave. Highlights for me were: Niles distracting CC while Maxwell desperately tossed her vile dip in a plant pot; Maggie's gruesome description of her day at the hospital and the ensuing effects that it had on Fran and her father and one of my all time fave Nanny scenes: Shave him ! followed shortly by Niles deadpan observation: Bucking for a raise ? You can see Fran, Charles and Daniel struggling not to break up on camera. I'd have loved to have been there for the taping of this one :-)
I just laughed a lot when Fran was puttting the shaving foam to Max. LOL! Plus that is the ep that hooked me to become a Nanny fan. It is a zany ep! great!
all i have to say is this is in my top 10 favorite episodes!!! IT was so funny..a 10
This isn't one of my favorites, but it's one of the better ones on that list. The shaving cream scene was funny but has been shown so many times that it has lost a lot of steam. :( Oh well, at least there were some caring moments between Fran and Max.
what is there to say? a comedic masterpiece, if there ever was one. i've only seen "close shave" a few times. every time that i do, i'm rolling on the floor with laughter!! the scene where fran is supposed to be prepping max for surgery is priceless! and when niles comes waltzing in the room, saying, "bucking for a raise?" again, i say, what is there to say? also, you can't help but notice how dd and charlie are trying so hard to keep from laughing!!!
This is one of the funniest episodes. Iloved it. I give it a 10. Its definitly a classic.
This ep is hysterical! Esp. "bucking for a raise?" Anyone notice how hard it is for Charlie to keep a straight face through the shaving cream scenes? Totally hilarious! I love it!
This is one of my very favorite episodes ever!! I love when Maxwell is in the hospital and Fran is supposed to shave him for surgery. If you watch Maxwell face, you can see that Charlie is trying really hard not to laugh, almost not succeeding in keeping a straight face. I love this episode!!
This is one of the best episodes
of course all that happened in "Close Shave" was overshadowed by the shave-scene.it was a classic Nanny-scene that remains as one of the unforgettable moments.above all fran did a great job.her facial expression was fabulous.(UH in reality she might have seen some 'strange' things under the coat).the perfect addition was niles and his 'rise in salary-comment',another very classic moment.without any doubt one of the funniest scenes of the Nanny-show.the only mistake was that the episode ended exactly in that moment, when maxwell realized the whole embarrassing situation.but on the other side the show so finshed on another climax.other things to remember were frans economic and scientific credit-card-system.(Hhm i have to try that!),brighton under the table and c.c's self made tortillas, including dog-food-dip.i also think that niles's detectiv-work,when he found out about fran's substitute for maggie, would have made the most famous tv-detectiv,columbo,all honour.by the way:if there are any chances to get a nurse like fran, i voluntary would go to hospital!!!!she is the dream of every (male) patient.(although she ,respectively her short white coat, may be little dangerous, like the way she 'influenced' the man in the weelchair.)
I love the nanny. She is cool.
Without the 'shaving' scene, this was a good episode but that scene made it a 'classic'... even though I've seen it numerous times, that scene still has me ROTFL. And like others have pointed out - Charlie's expressions during the scene are LOL too... how he did it, I'll never know!
Really fun!! I love it!!
my absolute favourite! Just seeing Charlie trying not to laugh and Fran's face when Niles walks in - it's definitely a classic nanny episode
One of the best
I love the part were she is shaving him and the doctor says what are you doing and she says I have no idea. The man has a slight five o-clock shadow but he is not going to a barmitsfa. You can tell he is trying reaaly hard not to laugh. I also like the end when she is using the whip cream and he says Miss Fine!
This was a pretty good episode! My favorite part was when C.C. came in rambling about her cooking class and wanting Max to "taste it!" and as soon as she turned her back, Niles had the plant under Max's mouth so he could spit. Then C.C. took out a tortilla for him to dip and Fran came in at that moment and Niles opened the doors so Max could hurl it outside. Classic example of the split-second timing that was so often part of the show. This had many classic moments- Fran being able to understand Maggie and Peter while they are kissing, Max trying to say, "Miss Babcock.." and gagging after every attempt and Niles response, "She affects us all that way," (or something of that nature), and of course, Niles' play-by-play of how he knew Fran was filling in for Maggie at the hospital. A great example overall of TN at it's best!
Great episode. How Niles help Maxwell when he have to taste the (dog)food CC made. The saving scene was also great. Charlie really had trouble not to laugh. And then that moment when Niles came in. Two words for this episode Totally hilarious.
LOL. I think it was one of the funniest eps. Really exellent! It is deffinitly one of my favourites. just loved it! =)
Just want to jump in here. This ep was great fun. most things have been said, I just wanted to add a moment that I enjoyed that no one else has mentioned. Loved Maggie asking for 50, then pouting Daddy don't be mean, I love you sooooo much, then later trying the same stunt with Fran. And loved everything else too.
I thought it was just very fun the final part and when she falls when she see a sick person in the hospital. Just very good!
it was extremly funny and I love watching it over and over. Fran is great in this one!! A Nanny highlight!
Max and Niles disposing of the products of CC's food class has me in stitches _every_ time!!
I am almost 13 years old(6days),and I thought it was simply fabulous!!! I absolutely LOVED it!!! I love every episode of "the Nanny" though...so... Fran Drescher is my idol of all-time!!! Hey i love everyone in "the Nanny!!" I literally think her voice is soothing 100% She's AWESOME!!! and Charles Shaughnessy/Maxwell Sheffield is GORGEOUS!!!! I am totally obsessed with "the Nanny" and know everything about it!!! It ROCKS!!!!
Can't really add anything to the comments already made. The writing and comedic timing were top notch all the way! This one is a classic!
Niles agrees to sing for Mr. Sheffield when he needs a singer for an important backers meeting, which leaves the family without anyone to cook for a few days. Fran's sister, the caterer, conviniently needs a place to stay when she has an argument with her husband, so she comes to cook for the Sheffields. "What The Butler Sang" was another good episode which continued the level of the last
weeks show.what could have gone wrong by introducing frans sister nadine(why didn't they take
her real sister for the part?)but it was not only the usual caos that arised since nadines
taking-over of the sheffield mansion, there was also the jealousy of fran.i think it was time to
show more often that fran has fallen for maxwell, after we have seen HIM jealous and attracted
of HER so many times.and nadines interest in max was the perfect opportunity.of course frans
and maxs dance around each other was still at it's beginning, but the preparations were on their
way.maybe i am the only one,but although ellen ratner did an acceptable job, nadine could have
been even more better.nevertheless fran and nadine created a great and, of course, shrill show.
certainly the best scene was the one in the bedroom.besides the quarrel of the two sisters(the
words concernig the age of 30 and "need it" were phantastic)they also wore the same
night-dress.finally their performance ended in this punch and judy-show in the background of
niles.niles singing career was a little bit neglected.it would have been more advantageous to
make an independent episode of this story(one has to think of the endless possebilities
concerning niles and c.c.)the sexual allusion of the week was "doing it regulary"(once more
this is the german translation.fran dreschers hand injury was,as usual,a big mistery in
europe.(have i read somewhere that she has burned herself?)damn limited european showbiz.why
can't they appreciate stars like fran drescher in the suitable scope?she is only familiar by
the Nanny-Fans and not at least the well known person, she is in america.it is really a
shame.sometimes i really hate europe!
i know these comments are getting longer, but this is the show i live for.so i hope you
understand why i have to say all that.
This ep was funny but is wasn't one of my favorites.
I didnīt like this episode very much.
I loved the "Three Stooges" arguing behind Niles and suddenly breaking into a dance to cover themselves. That one makes me roll every time. Then of course the two Fine sisters in Mr. Sheffield's bedroom!
This was both one of my favorites and also one of my LEAST favorites! Listening to that little bit of uninterrupted singing at the beginning "When I was 17, it was a very good year...", just made you CRAVE to hear more. And when he finally did get to sing the ballad, what happened? A bunch of idiots running around screaming all through it! But - no problem. After all, once his talent to sing became known, they would surely have him singing again! Right?........geesh!
The end was very funny...but it wasn't my favorite episode.
I like the chase through the house while Niles is singing.
A nice episode. A great voice on Mr. Davis and, like others have said, a shame we couldn't hear more of it in that episode! The Three Stooges routine was great and so typical of Fran and her family. I do wonder what happened to the robe which Fran threw on the floor, though!
This is not one off my favorite. But I loved the three stooges behind Niles
The Nanny is the best TV show I ever saw! I also wish that one day I will meet Fran Drescher and the hole cast of The Nanny! It would be a dream comtrue!
What can I say....I just have the sever hots for the butler and him singing was just icing on the cake.....Ya gotta love that voice!!!
This episode is yet another example of why i love the second season so much. Niles
is a fantastic singer, something that everyone suspected but didn't know for a fact until this
show. Of course the highlight of the show had to be the three stooges song and dance number
and the ensuing chase scene in the background. I was laughing so hard, my eyes were watering.
And don't forget the fantastic one liners:
Fran: This is me making Lipton's, remember.
C.C.: Club her big haired head in!!!
Max: Speaking of food, which I hope to God we're speaking of.
And don't forget Fran and Niles little solo singing acts in the kitchen. This one had
everything from a touch of romance to great comedy. Overall, a fantastic episode.
Here, in some channels of TV of Brazil, we coudn't know the original sound of the episode. I feel sad because of it - I would love to listen to Daniel Davis singing. But the episode was marvellous. Lauren Lane is wonderful, too.
To be anest most of my favorite eps. is in seson 6. But this ep. was realy funnie when Fran,Nay,Bar,Max and CC was running around when Niels was singing,so Iīm giving it a 6 in comedy!! !!!!!!Love Ya Frannie!!!!!!!!
You gotta LOVE this one- especially the opening scene- when Niles says, "I do so love my work" and empties the ash tray in C.C.'s purse. Also, did Max fall into that one or what? (When they were trying to think of a caterer) Plus anytime Niles sings is great! And that was just the beginning! Was it my imagination or was Fran a bit jealous when Na asked Max to come taste? And in the twin gown scene- MY boss. It was fun to see a jealous Fran for a change. My only question, WHAT was Nadine wearing in the last scene? Also, if I heard, "MY room, Na!" one more time I was going to SCREAM! But overall a very funny episode.
I liked Nadine, and would have enjoyed seeing her re-appear in an episode or two. The show fell a little short. I liked Fran and Nadine brawling on her bed and Nadine teaching Maggie to drag her sister around by the nose.
I like this episode more every time I see it. Nice to see Fran jealous for a change, and great to hear Niles sing. I thought it was pretty funny, and I loved CC's out of breath rant about the money and how the backers hated Niles' singing. Three Stooges was good, as were the innuendos. Still, a shame that there was no Sylvia in the ep, since too often it seems that Fran is her only child. Would have liked to see them all interact. Also a shame the kids weren't more of a presence, although Niles finally got a day in the sun. At least we got to see Maggie and Grace acting like actual sisters. All in all, I liked it!
I think it's a great ep. in the comedy aspect, for me, the best were the "3 stooges",
all the jokes that Niles made to CC threatening her, when Fran complains with Niles for Nadine
(I dont remember excactly but she says something 'bout shooting her) and when Maggie and Gracie
fight and Fran explains them how the sisters have to love each other and after that she and
Nadine fight and the girls saw them... and a lot of things...
In the romantic aspect I think it shows Fran jealousy (which isnt shown very often) and that
proves that her love was from the begining as Max's (we all know it but it's not shown a lot).
I also think that it's very well done how Fran and Nadine feel about each other, "knowing" the
Fines I wouldn't expect anything different (they love each other but they can't be in the same
room for over 10 min. hahaha).
Anyway, I think it was a very good ep, in my lists is not with my favs but with the
not-so-fav-but-exellents =) Bye!
I just love The Nanny.(I com from Norway and i am 11 years old and I hav birthday 4 february)

The kissing scene is definitely one of the scenes I'll never forget. I just love this ep!
This episode is one of my favorites. I loved the part when Fran proved to Maxwell she was as good of a kisser as she said. 10!
The only part of the episode I liked was the N/CC scene at the end. "Rack 'em up, let's play again" Pure beauty.
This was a good episode. It was funny, Romantic, and well written. I loved the part when Fran was lying to the girls on the line, that they really won the contest.
I loved this episode, it was so cute!
The one scene (and we all know the scene!) was just so cleverly added to the script that one would have to have enjoyed it!
Well what can I say about the kissing scene, just WHOOHAA!!!!. Great episode.
Hoo ha!! I love this episode!!! Definately one of my favorites! I love it when she days "I'm sorry I hadda get tough with you, but ya hadda learn!" It was hilarious!! Definately in the top ten!!
Nanny is the best show how could they take it off.I think Charles is cute.
I would love to have laid that kiss on Maxwell!
My favorite part of this episode is not the big flashy grabby kiss that is the obvious one, but rather, the simple caring that Max shows at the end in that sweet scene where he convinces Fran that she isn't old, and she hasn't lost it. Those few minutes of caring between friends is what real romance is all about. (Also loved Fran picking the lint off the turkey leg and that whole bit about the "logger"!!)
It was grrrrrrreat
anytime Max and Fran kiss is my favorite episode!!! it was a 10--it just made you want more!!
This is the best comedyshow which i know.
I can only say: Whow! Greate episode!
I loved this one, this is one of the best comedy shows ever on tv.
I thought this was one of the worst episodes in Nanny history--in my bottom 5. Contrived (especially that big kiss--yuck), phony, and totally a waste of talent. Whoever decided BRC should speak needs a vacation. The N/CC kiss was funny but also too contrived.
it is obvious that the titel "A Kiss Is Just A Kiss"speaks for itself.i have no doubt that max(and charles too?)had to deal with frans lesson for a long time.it was a terrific scene, just as max's face besmeared with lipstick and the food analysis of fran.another good decision was that the authors didn't write just the kiss for itself.they also made maxwell disappointed that he did not get another of frans lessons, after he had cured his nanny's depressions with a number of compliments(i can understand him!!!).who could doubt in his deep love for her?but the kiss of niles and c.c. was in no way poorer.niles saying after the 'experience' was simply out of this world.what a line!of course for another time niles was the one who called max' attention to frans problems.the moment when fran and max would have managed their relationship they should set the butler anmonument.! in addition to that it was very interesting what an imagination the authors created for brighton and also the sense fran saw in this very determined word(you can not translate the german play of words, but if the english version was approximately the same, you know what i mean.for the german viewers it sounded like a pun in connection with 'ejaculate'--Ups,can i say that here???)all in all one of my favourites in the second season.but the next episode should even become more better.
Wanderful kisses, not only the kiss between Max and Fran, but even the one between C.C. and Niles was great! LOL : - ) I just love it!!!
Great ep!
It wasn't VERY romantic, but just THAT kiss must get a 10! But it was a really good episode, overall. That 'Bronto Cyrus' thing was also very funny, hehe! ;0)
I agree with the person who said the best part was the caring Max showed Fran and the resulting kiss that Fran laid -- on his cheek. Niles and CC were great as always. Boy do I miss this show.
This episode is one of the best that the show ever had to offer! That scene with Fran and Max is just so unexpected.(Of course that is if you haven't seen it before:) The ep also captures all the romantic entaglements going on throughout the whole show. We all know Fran and Max's big kiss, but what about our favorite butler and the "witch"? As a Niles and CC Fanatic, I just loved the scene where CC is telling Maxwell what a kiss is supposed to be like. She turns around around, and thinking that it is Maxwell that is in front of her, pulls,(Who else?) Niles into a liplock. As he wipes his mouth, Niles asks her, "Was it as bad for me as it was for you?" I just love it! :)
Max comparing Fran to a fine wine and that whole reassurance scene was my favorite part of the show - including Max waiting for another 'kiss' and getting the peck on the forehead. A pleasing episode all around - just enough of everything!
I really love this serie and I watch it every day. In Austrian TV Fran and Max aren't
marry - I hope it happens fast!
Ich wünsche euch, das die Serie immer großen Erfolg haben wirdī. mir hilft es immer zum Relaxen
- vor allem wenn ich abschalten will von dem täglichen Stress!
Danke!
I just know "The Nanny" and the episodes in german but it was one of the gratest.
Only 7 words: fantastic, great, overwhelming, import for Nanny history
I would love to be in Franīs place
Loved it. Enough said.
This was a pretty good episode although CC and Niles didn't have very big parts (and except for the first scene, where was Gracie?). I thought it was funny when Max came in and kissed Shawn on the back of the head thinking it was Maggie and then turned around to see Maggie standing there! LOL! Also, when Fran lied to the girls in the line- "Go to 1313 Mockingbird Lane and ask for Lilly or Herman." More LOL! The scene with Fran kissing Max was definitely a good one (Did anyone else notice at first Max was waving his arms around and then settled them around her waist?), but I have to agree, the last one is what makes it truly romantic. Also, I too think Max was disappointed when Fran said she could just kiss him for being so sweet, and she did so on the forehead! Yep, Max is definitely beginning to fall!
Overall this isn't the greatest ep. The plot, like a few others, was definately on the weak side. BUT ya gotta love the kiss Fran plants on Max! And the end with Max explaining how things (Fran) improve with age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh give me one of those guys any day of the week. And her sweet response. No moment can beat it.
I agree with those who said they especially liked the last scene when Max was trying to cheer Fran up--a sweet moment.
Fran's nanny friend Mona is retiring, depressing Fran since it seems that Mona and Fran lead very similiar lives and Fran fears she too will end up alone. At the retirement party Fran has a bit too much to drink, comes home and stumbles into the wrong bedroom. Written by: Dana Reston and Frank Lombardi. Mona: Tyne Daly, Addy: Adeline Drescher, Lupe: Irene Olga Lopez. |

This is one of my favorite eps. My favorite part was C.C.'s scream when she saw Max and Fran together. I thought it was great.
This episode was great! the best part was when CC came walking in to maxwell's bedroom and found him and fran in bed together!! and niles starts singing happy birthday to CC lol so funny! overall i give this ep a 9!
This is one of my top 5 favorites. The look on max's face when he saw fran. The whole story idea was great. I loved how niles was like "you know how much he likes to get his tea in the morning" then him and CC were fighting. LOL!!! I love the trouble fran can get herself in.
Loved this ep! Definitely one of the funniest once. Not only the idea of Fran ending up in Max's bed, but also CC's reaction when she discovers her 'birthday surprise'. Especially the end is great when we can decide ourselves if they have or haven't done it.
This is my favorite episode!!! I loveit when Niles starts to sing in C.C.'s ear!! And of course..."Oh, I'm having that dream again..." An awesome, awesome, AWESOME episode!! Oh the hilarity!!
I thought this was a good episode. It was REALLY funny. My favorite part was when Fran woke up in Mr. Sheffields bed and Niles ans C.C. came in the room. That was the best!!!!All the episodes are good bu this was one of the better ones. I love The Nanny!!!!
I liked a lot the plaster cake! plus that bed scene, was just wonderful! At the end of the show, "Georgy Girl" and Fran scratching her ear was just great. I love this episode!!!!! Niles: Happy Birthday to you! C.C: AHHHHH LOL
This is one of my all time Favorites. I missed this episode the first and second time around. Everyone told me it was the best episode,(why is when you miss one it is always the best one?)anyway this one was greattt. I love it when Mona tells Fran about her previous life in theme song fashion, when Fran flys in the front door...drunk, when Niles and CC give Max his Birthday gifts, and when Mona sings "for me, for me". The one thing that always bothers me about this episode is when Fran changes into her nightgown coming out of Max's closet, I always try to figure out something when this is bought up in Nanny discussions with my friends. This episode is a Rose(Gypsy Lee).
LOL! This ep is one for the record books! That bedroom scene was just what all the Fran/Max fans were hoping for! And who can forget that memorable "Birhtday" present for CC from Niles? "Happy birthday to you..." Fabulous!
This is one of my favorite episodes ever!! When Fran wakes up in Max's bed! That was one of the funniest scenes ever!
Another of the great episodes from Series 2 - 'Hey there, Georgy Girl, can I scratch
your ear!' The whole parallel with Mona, the plaster cake, the 'one, tiny pink squirrel', the
'birthday' present from Niles to CC - ROTFL all the way through!
Two questions - 1) Where did the nightgown come from? 2) This is another great episode so the
comments/ratings should be from 45-55 people. the question - why doesn't everyone comment on
the 'less than great' ones? Some eps. have only 25 comments - do some of you feel bad writing
something that is less than great? (Sorry Barb, that's my whinge for the season!)
The way Fran played she was drunk was just great.(doing good, doing good, doing good, doing bad, doing bad, doing bad). And how Fran and Max lay in bed when Niles came in was so sweet, I mised that in the last season. Niles and his Happy Birthday Miss. Babcock was also great. It was a good episode, but did they or did they not.
This is one of my favorites and one of the best Nanny eps. of all time. It was great from the very first scene to the tag. Tyne Daly was a great guest. My favorite moment? "Doin good, doin' good, doin' good... uh-oh, doin bad, doin, bad!"
What can i say ,it was indescribable."Strange Bedfellows" was a big highlight in every respect.(i think it would have been a great seasons final,as of the developing story of fran and max).there was the wunderful romance, some great comedy and also a sensational story.what a way to get max and fran into a romantic situation! we all recognized the feelings they had for each other and it was very exciting to see them falling for each other step by step.nevertheless we could not foresaw the time it would take until they finally band together.so in my opinion niles had the line of the entire serial, when he said"Oy This Is Going To Take Forever".he once more did an outstanding job in this episode,as he not only had this line, but also made this prematured conclusion that fran and max joined a closer relationship.but we only were at the beginning of the 'fight'.of course c.c had to be involved in the happenings.so one had the pleasure to watch the scene in which niles 'informed' c.c. with the news, her scream and also his unbelivable birthday-serenade.it is really worth the trouble to watch the episode only in view of niles.one can say so much more about this excellent episode, but this would take too long.so finally i only want to say that i am deeply convinced that max would have noticed if something had happened with him and fran in this night!!!!in this respect the open end was the last highlight of an episode that was loaded with great scenes and ideas.
Well, everything has been said, but I'll give it a shot. I absolutely LOVE this episode. Tyne Daly was great as Mona. Niles was in top form. CC's reaction was fabulous. The similar lives that Fran and Mona led culminated in a reassurance to us viewers that we would not be disappointed, Fran and Max would end up together. They looked absolutely perfect snuggled up together, too!
i live in ireland and did'nt get to see past the middle the third series.i did't get to see the wedding, oe them having babies. but this episode i did get to see. thought it was preety cool.
One of my favorite episodes. The part where Fran wake up in Max bed and C.C. scream was very funny.
I thouht it was very funny. My favorite scenes are when Fran goes in Maxwell's room drunk and snuggles with him and my oher favorite scence is when cc finds them together and Niles sings happy birthday after that.
I loved this episode. It was so funny. I was ROTFL the whole way through. All of my fav parts were mentioned except when Fran comes into the house drunk and she says, "I don't know what they put in a pink squirrel, but I don't know how squirrels hang on to their nuts." I thought that was one of the funniest lines of the show. Just an over all great episode.
this one is so funny, the best
From the moment Fran slides in on the doornob to when she wakes up in Max's bed & says "Oh, I'm havin' that dream again" this one is hysterical. And, IMHO, this ep more then any other seals the deal with the audience that one day Fran & Max will get married. One of my all-time favorites!
This really was a good episode! I remember the first time this aired, I watched the 2nd half (bedroom scene on) over and over. I, too, liked the plaster of Paris cake and C.C.'s reaction when she saw Max and Fran in bed together. I thought one of the best lines though was when C.C. came in 'the day after' and asked Niles if Maxwell was doing better, and he replied, "Yes, I believe so. He took a wonderful Jewish remedy last night!" Overall a great episode with a hint of things to come. I also enjoyed the did they or didn't they aspect.
Oh man!! one of my favs comedy wise!!! when she comes through the door wondering what the put in a pink squirrel...how the !@(%& squirrels hold onto their nuts!!! LOL
I love the nanny because my favorite actress is Fran Drescher, and she makes every show funny
Maggie is going to her first sweet sixteen party and needs a special hair cut for the big event, so Fran takes her to see Mr. Anthony, the local hair legend in Queens. Meanwhile, she feels sorry for an out of work actress that had come to audition for Mr. Sheffield, so she gets her a job as a shampoo girl with Mr. Anthony at the salon. Written by: Peter Marc Jacobson and Fran Drescher, Robert Sternin and Prudence Fraser. Mr. Anthony: Patrick Cassidy, Mary Ruth: Tracy Nelson, Claude: Edward Hibbert, Kim: Lauren Tom, Nimo: J.D. Daniels. |
Our responses (27) gave the episode a 4.4 overall, a 4.9 for the comedy, and a 4.3 for romance.

Any episode that doesn't focus on the main characters isn't really worth mentioning. This was one of the low points of an otherwise terrific season. Watching the show, it wasn't hard to figure out why this spin off was never picked up. The characters didn't mesh like the Nanny crew and the lines were not all that funny. Perhaps the only bright spots in this episode were the very few one liners by Claude and Kim and Yetta (of course adding Yetta is a sure fire way to liven up any scene). All in all, an episode worth forgetting.
I just love Nanny
very funny
I didn't really like this one. There wasnt much of Fran and Max in it. I was kind of dissapointed since it was written by Fran and Peter, i thought it could have been better
In my book, I think this ep goes down as the worst Nanny ep of all the eps! It was horrible! From what I remember (and I've only seen this ep once, I don't care to see it again) practically the only funny part was when Mr. Sheffield asks Fran out when she's wearing Maggie's wig! And Sylvia with Mr. Anthony was kind of funny. I remember that they hardly focused on any of The Nanny characters, only mostly that hair girl that wanted to be an actress, Mr. Anthony, and the son. I hated hardly seeing the other characters. I really disliked this ep. I love The Nanny, you'd think I'd watch any ep just to see The Nanny...this ep is THE ONLY exception (even worse than The Gym Teacher!) I was very disappointed. It was like it was a totally different show.....
I did not see the point of the ep, it was like watching something else and not The Nanny
This was the one I olways play fast forward on my video!
it is difficult to comment on an episode that mainly was not a "Nanny"-episode.although it was not new that tv-series sometimes air a spin-off show,"The Chatterbox"was likely the poorest episode off the whole Nanny-show.so it was no suprise that cbs did not pick up that stuff.(although it was frans and peters idea).since the nanny-characters appeared only in the first part of the episode,i saw myself in a totally different show in the second part and as a result of this,i got angry about the fact that they waste a Nanny-episode with that dump.(above all the idiotic mary-ruth).so at all the only thing that is worth to remember was frans appearance at the end.great to see maxwell overwhelmed by the sex-appeal of his nanny.she looked like to take a bite of.maxwells reaction(what man would have not reacted like that),and how she looked, were a litte reparations of the things that happened before.
I don't have to rewatch this episode to remember that it was very crude and crass. Tracy Nelson was pretty good, but most of the other jokes were off-color or suggestive, and I did not like that at all! The only thing that saved it was at the end when Fran was unable to return the wig so she wore it, and suddenly Max had enough energy to go for ice cream and to a movie! Personally, I'm glad "The Chatterbox" was not picked up as a series.
Wow. I remember reading in "Enter Whining" that Fran and Peter had lots of sitcom ideas bouncing around in their heads... While it was admirable of them to attempt a spin-off, this was simply awful! (Not quite the Jeffersons/All in the Family appeal!) I love Tracy Nelson, and I'm a fan of Patrick Cassidy, but the cast didn't have half the chemistry of our favorite ensemble, to say the least. I'm glad The Chatterbox never got picked up so that Fran and Peter didn't waste any more time and attention diverted away from "The Nanny"!
If we TOTALLY ignore the 'Chatterbox' section of this episode and just concentrate on the 'Nanny' sections of this episode (yeah, I know, all 5 minutes!) it was OK - not enough length, not enough substance but the wig scene at the end was good as was Fran's dealing with Mary-Ruth at the start (typically Fran). And Yetta, as always, was a real winner and scene stealer.
I did'nt like this one at all. The only funny part was with Fran and Max about that wig from Maggie.
Fran and Peter could done better ! But it's not so bad !!!
I donīt like this episode. i think it isnīt funny at all!
Liked the scene at the end where Fran puts on Maggie's wig and Max suddenly wants to take her out. The rest is pretty ucky!
i donīt see why everyone here hates it, it isnīt the best, but it is funny, (a little bit.. yeah?) okey, it isnīt especially, but we all loves fran, yeah? sorry if this english is very bad, but you know the school, here in norway it doesnīt always work at it should.
I know that it is not really a NANNY episode, but I thought it had some cute qualities. I liked Claude and Kim, but not really Mr. Anthony and Nimo. I like Tracy Nelson also, so the episode was bearable. Although I would liked to have seen more of Max. :)
Maxwell is loaning an original page of Shakespeare to a benefit. Meanwhile, since Fran has to go out anyway, he asks her to pick up some things from the store for him. When she gets the list from his desk, she accidently picks up the fragment of Shakespeare instead. Even worse, she gets mugged while in Central Park and the piece of Shakespeare that was in her purse is gone. Written by: Jayne Hamil and Rick Shaw. Mugger: Alex Nevil, Det. Shoenfeld: William Bumiller, Brenda Ballard, Jeffery Winner, Blanche Rubin. |

I loved this ep! I thought it was very funny. I only wish Fran and Max would have finished that kiss at the end. I thought the story was great.
I just love this episode. The way Fran en Gracie screamed to each other, and how Fran warned Gracie and Maggie for that guy that scary guy and how Niles came in then. That MISS FINE part was also great. Yes this is one of my favorite.
Oh yeah... Max has fallen hard for Fran. I love this episode so much! A great end to a great season. The scene with Fran watching television, scared by everything around her, is absolutely hilarious! The kids are good (Syndication is making me a big fan of Ben, especially!) and the romance is shifted in the right direction --although who doesn't want to kill Niles for interrupting the moment? I scream every time! Kudos to the writers.
I havenīt seen this episode complete, but of what I saw, i liked it
This was a pretty good ep, though not one of my very favorites!
This episode was not too bad. The scene in the park when Max was trying to comfort Fran and she was holding onto him for dear life was really sweet and a hint of things to come. I remember the first time this one was on, I was so frustrated when they called each other by their first names and were about to kiss and Niles had to speak up and then we had to wait all summer!
I LOVE THE NANNY!!!!!!!!
oh what an excellent end for the season and also a great reparation for the last weeks dump!"Fran Gets Mugged" was another small step for the romance and one had the impression that they really started to develop the thing between fran and max(like in Strange Bedfellows).the end was very suprising(although max nearly did blab himself in respect to his feelings for fran before this scene)nevertheless i am still a little bit dissapointed that niles had to interrupt this charming moment, when they almost kissed and started to call each other by their forenames.WHY??? it meant that we had to wait a lot of time more to see them together.but despite of this the end was definetly one of the best scenes at all.(fran looked gorgeous, didn'd she?)who could not love this.they were born for each other.maybe they should have done a cliffhanger.why didn't they end the season in the moment fran and max are going to kiss.imagine the suspense over the summertime!!in addition to this they could have find a place for the niles/babcock scene in the sequal.besides the romantic stuff that made the episode to a highlight, the comedy did not get down.the guy in the park, frans enthusiasm for that cancer lipstick,c.c.'assassination attempt on fran and finally c.c.'s satisfaction at the end were other elements of a great show.at all the season ended the way it had begun, with the help of a romantic episode.and finally i was another time very envious of max that he had the possebility to act with the beautiful fran drescher!!!!
A great episode to end the season.... that last 'Fran/Max' scene in the dark by the stairs! And LOL at CC getting control of what was going to happen to Niles while he was tied up - one can only imagine the torture she had planned! (Although I don't think we ever did see Brighton's glasses again, didn't he wear a pair in an earlier episode???)
I have one thing to say, "Please tell me Macbeth is something you get with McFries?" An absolute ten!!!
Loved the ending when Fran and Max returned from the play and were getting close to a kiss. Just wish that Niles could have remained quiet for about 30 more seconds so it could have happened. The scene in the park with the flasher/watch seller was clever, too. Such double entendres!
very funny ep. nice scene between max and fran, like the part when niles was tied up at the end of the ep. all in all pretty good show.
the nanny is the best
This was an excellent episode. There was romance, comedy, and drama. A great way to end a great season. Best line of the episode: Niles to Fran concerning C.C. : "You hold her down, I'll tie her tubes."
This one's in my top ten! One of the best-written, funniest episodes ever. The whole idea of Fran mistaking the Shakespeare for a shopping list is genius!
All I can say is that I LOVE FRAN DRESCHER!!!!!!She is awesome and a cool role model for teens!!!!
I just loved the end with that questioning"Fran?"Even though there was no kiss, the anticipation was great!
Great Episode! Brighton's glasses must of been stolen also, since we never SEE them again.
I love this episode!! My dad doesn't care for it, my mom thinks it's okay, but I love it!!! I love the seen between Gracie and Fran, "AAAA!! WHAT'S THE MATTER? I DON'T KNOW! YOU SCARED ME!!!" That's sooo funny!!!
I LOVE THIS SHOW!I WATCH IT WNENEVER I CAN. ALTHOUGH I DON'T REALLY CONSIDER THIS EPISODE ONE OF MY FAVORITES IT WAS GOOD. IT WAS FUNNY HOW SHE WAS SOOOO SCARED OF EVEN STEPPING OUTSIDE THE DOOR.
I loved the romance in this one! This is things really were starting to heat
up between Fran and Max, I was really on the edge of my chair when they almost
kissed at the end in the dark. Wonderful comedy, especially with Niles and
CC. I am really hooked on this show after this episode..
