3.1 The Pen Pal

Fran has been corresponding with her pen pal Lenny for years but is a little anxious to actually meet him face to face since she may have misled him a bit about her accomplishments. To bolster her courage and to get a look at Lenny for himself, Maxwell accompanies her to the meeting, leaving Niles and C.C. alone at the house. Written by: Jayne Hamil and Rick Shaw. Guy in Bar: Peter Marc Jacobson, David Stavros: Dean Tarrolly, Maitre'd: Milton James, Florence Griffith Joyner and David Letterman in nonspeaking cameos.

Our responses (45) gave the episode a 8.8 overall, a 8.7 for the comedy, and a 8.4 for romance.

I think this one is very funny.

I loved this ep. It was deffinitly a classic. Their were some great Niles and C.C. lines, the kiss, cluck like a chicken. I thought it was great.

Very good! Classic Nanny :-) Love it!

This is a great ep, who wouldn't love the intimate kiss between Niles and C.C. and all the names they called each other before they did. Too funny, and the look on Fran and Max's face is priceless! Thanks.

I like this episode, I think it is great. When C.C and Niles kiss is really funny.

THE BEST! CLASSIC NILES/CC EPISODE!!!! UNFORGETTABLE!!!

KEWL

Eventhough I have to admit that NANNY is not "real life" ,I do think that it`s one of the most realistic TV-series I know...and ,well, comparing to e.g. All Bundy ,The Nanny is funny...it`s good entertainment...ESPECIALLY the flirts and fights going on between CC - Niles and Max - Fran. AND what I think is extremely important about the show is that Niles gives hints to Maxwell. Like the thing about the pear...when Niles tries to imply that Max is jealous because he loves Fran...like "and now that the pear is gone I realice that it is everything I want ...and somebody else has it now."

This is probably my all time favorite episode. I love every minute of it. P.S. I love the music

I loved the part in this episode when Fran and Max were sitting together at the bar, waiting for Fran's pen pal to show. They seemed like such natural and good friends--almost like they were already married even though this was just the start of the thrid season. And of course who didn't howl at Fran's comment (after she got the note that had been left by Lenny), about his timing--seeing her with the band guy, rather than realizing Lenny meant Max.

pretty good ep. LOL, I LIKE THE PART WHEN MAX SAID HE WAS TAKING FRAN TO SEE HER DATE, BUT REALLY HE WANTED TO SEE WHAT HE LOOKED LIKE. ALSO I LIKE THE PART WITH CC AND NILES, NICE KISS. VERY FUNNY PART WHEN THEY WERE AT THE FRONT DOOR AND ONE SAID SWINE AND OTHER CHICKEN TO THE OTHER LOL. P.S. ALWAYS A NANNY FAN!!!!

I love this episode especially the scenes with Fran and Max at the bar waiting for Lenny

I am not really into the Niles and CC romance, but this was a really cute show. I did, however, think it was hysterical when CC was walking out the door at the end and said "Maxwell, Fanny Nine..." Also the thing with Lenny was also very funny!

This has the all-time best C.C-Niles moments - the clucking, that kiss! I didn't rate it a ten because there wasn't more!

The best episode ever!!!!!!

i absolutely love this ep! my favorite line is when maxwell and fran are sitting at the bar in the russian tea room. fran says that max must have some great pick up lines. max replies by saying that the first one that comes to mind is: "maxwell sheffield, Broadway producer." fran responds by asking what the other one is. max again replies: "how do you like your eggs?" i swear, the first time i heard that, i nearly fell of the sofa! i laughed so hard, and that raised eyebrow! need i say more? ciao for now.

the first episode of the third season was at the same time the first highlight of the new year.on the one hand "Pen Pals" was a very funny episode,on the other hand it continued the romantic developements of the last's seasons end. the comical part was one of the best at all:there were the outstanding pick up lines of max,the soap opera links, fran in the mirror and,of course, frans fantasy(including the legendary "houston we have a problem").but the thing that made mw scream was maxwells sentence that fran always would be the first one in that dress.the other part, the romantic one,was olso very good.how could one not love maxwell running after his secret love fran and niles who once more tried to get out the right words from maxwell.but right at the moment one thought that the episode could not get better we saw that amazing scene with niles and cc.(o.k. the scene in maxwells office was also a great one,but the end....... indescribable).i remember the thingh i thought when i saw it for the first time:there is the second love story of "The Nanny".and finally i was right.to put it in a nutshell " Pen Pals " was not only a ten, but also an amazing bpiece of entertainment

Definitely in the top 5 of all time. Both the comedy and romance were balanced perfectly and what great dialogue! The whole office scene is a classic. [PS, excellent choice of music, Barb--LOL!]

This is one of the best EARLY episodes that just set the mood for the rest of the seasons. It's so funny, romantic, and explores the tension between the soon-to-be couples. Plus Peter's in it! And that "eggs" pick-up line would have DEFINITELY worked on me!!

Hahaha! This episode was REALLY great! I have no words for it! Also, the chickens down there and the song made me laugh and laugh and laugh!!!!! Lauren (CC) can really cluck like a chicken! Note that she's trying hard not to laugh when that scene comes... ;o)

I admit I'm primarily a Max and Fran fan but this one was my favorite Niles & CC episode. The scenes between them in Pen Pal are side splittingly funny and the looks of shock and horror on Max and Fran's faces are priceless when they catch Niles and CC together. It's a greatly enjoyable ep.

I loved this episode. One of the best. All I have to say has already been said but I just have to say LOVED THAT KISS!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this show was totally SMASHING Lauren Lane was Fab Fran was fabulous also.

This is one of my favorite ones; very funny. Love esp. the scene at the bar.

Best Niles/CC moments ever! Great ep!

It was a great episode. And I didn't think that is would be so romantic. The only thing that had missed was a kiss. Than it would be perfect!

A great season opener! I still wonder what Lenny may have looked like, though! I also still wonder what 'exactly' it was that Peter said to Fran at the bar! Great comedy, great hints again to the romance (or is it romances now?) to come.

This was a FABULOUS start to the third season- from Brighton's response to Gracie's, "Maggie's trying to attract a guy." B: "Who? The Orkin Man?" right up to the end- Funny, I'm goin' ta bed thinking about you taking a shower. It seems as though Max had an inkling (maybe wishful thinking) about their future because he says, "I don't want to hear for the next 20 years about the guy you never met.." One of the sweetest lines was Max saying that Fran's absolute worst was..absolutely lovely. I also loved the whole bar scene and thought they seemed very natural. Max made up his mind he wasn't going anywhere 'til he saw Lenny and that was that- period! Niles is already guessing the truth even though it's only the third season, and I thought that exchange where Niles then Max was saying the line to Fran was hilarious! Though I'm a Fran/Max fan, I have to admit this was a great ep for CC/Niles fans. The only thing I didn't like- Max's plaid sportcoat. What was that about???!

One of my favorites episodes.

This ep was smooookin'!! The bar scene with Fran and Max was hilarious. But that kiss that CC and Niles shared, makes this one a top 5 fav of mine.

3.2 Franny and The Professor

C.C.'s brother Noel comes for a visit and bets C.C. that he can teach Fran enough to get her a spot on Jeopardy. He wins his bet and Fran ends up as a contestant on the game show. Written by: Janis Hirsch. Noel Babcock: Michael McKean, Alex Trebek as himself, Roger Clinton as himself, Stagehand: Amy Lerman, Henrietta: Sue Goodman, Stewart: John Glen Bishop.

Our responses (38) gave the episode a 7.5 overall, a 7.8 for the comedy, and a 5.7 for romance.
Some comments received were:

Very Funny....as always

I just love the part on Jeopardy! C.C and her brother laughing the same way is really cool

This one is funny. I can't stand Alex Trebek but at least he had the sense to cameo for a worthwhile cause like the Nanny! I love Michael McKean, glad to see Fran's Spinal tap gang and the natural repartee. Good one! Max's jealousy was a little subdued but at least it was there.

I love this episode!! Not only were C. C. and Noel funny, but Fran and Max arguing like they were married was funny also.

IS FUNNY AND FRAN IS LOVELY

This episode was OK- not the best, but definitely not the worst. There were some highlight moments. When Max walked into the room right after Noel left and Fran said there's only one explanation for the way you're behaving, and Max said, "You think I'm jealous?" "So there's two!" Also right after that when Fran wouldn't give Max the paper because 'member of the Broadway community asked to the renaissance weekend' might be a question on JEOPARDY, and he mumbled, "Andrew Lloyd Webber". Her "NNTTT, that would be WHO is Andrew Lloyd Webber!" was hysterical. Max denying he missed Fran- only wondered where she was and what she was doing- was funny, and his running in and sliding across the floor when he heard her come in was the icing on the cake! It was very sweet at the end in the kitchen when he told her she didn't always have to be champion, he liked her just the way she was. This was the hardest season for me to watch because almost every time an episode was over I'd get frustrated that they'd come thisclose but not made it!

PRETTY GOOD EP. NOT REALLY AS FUNNY AS SOME OF THE OTHER EP. NANNY FAN ALWAYS!!!

i think "Franny And The Professor" was ok,but nothing one has to remember when you think of real highlights.the only exceptions were niles terrific imitation of fran in max office(but in case of sex-appeal he was definetly inferior!)and frans appearance at jeopardy(have you seen this "hi ma" on the name plate?).on the other hand i did not like that fran was described so extremely stupid.she was not described very intelligent before, but in "Franny And The Professor" it was simply to much stupidity.i did not like her so!and i also think that this kind of plot was not very profitable for the character.the other thing i did not like was cc's brother noel.despite of noels likeness to his sister, robert culp's appearance as cc's father in "Ode To Barbara Joan" was much better.so at all,the episode had its 'goods' and 'bads'and was in no way able to continue the good show of the last week.

A decent ep. that had some good comedic bits between CC & her brother / Fran and Max / Max and Niles. Overall it was enjoyable although not the most memorable.

This ep starts out well. Fran and Max acting like an old married couple and Noel and CC bonding over "Mummy's dead", but the charm is pretty much gone by the second half.

A cute episode... (I would have liked to have seen more of Noel in later episodes!) Fran, as usual, won the day!

Not my favoorite but really funny!!

WE LOVE YOU FRAN

3.3 Dope Diamond

Fran meets a handsome, rich doctor at a Hadasa meeting and is estatic when he asks her to marry him. Her happiness doesn't last long though when he turns out to be a jewel thief. Written by: Diane Wilk. Jules Kimball: Ian Buchanan, Therapist: Cyndi James Gossett, Detective: Ron Recasner, Sales Clerk: Amanda Carlin.

Our responses (36) gave the episode a 7.4 overall, a 7.5 for the comedy, and a 7.1 for romance.
Some comments received were:

funny, not one of the best

fran is lovely

I liked this ep a lot. I thought it was funny and cute.

This episode ended up SO far from where it started, that I'm not even sure there was a plot! Still, there were some moments of note under all that non-plot. LOL was the comment Max made about Jules being a doctor because he was trying to remove Fran's tonsils with his tongue (something like that). Evident from the beginning that Max was VERY jealous! It was sweet, however, the way Max was there to comfort Fran when she found out the truth about Jules. Niles was hot with the C.C. insults in this one, and Yetta's lines were few but mighty- "I'm here 'cause they brought me, and I don't know how to get home!" Lastly, this was one (Hold it, we're stuck on each other) of several very clever double entendres (think 'Fran Lite', 'A Fine Friendship', 'Oy, Vey', etc.) that 'a blind man in New Jersey' couldn't miss! Once again, the last scene saved the whole ep.

Not the best. There were worse. Loved seeing Ian Buchanan. This one just left me flat.

This one was like two different episodes. The beginning with Jules was fun, and I loved the race around the dinning room table with Sylvia. But somehow, the stuff in the therapists office didn't fit with the rest of this episode. But still, lots of jealousy and double entrendes--which is always good!

Is a nice episode! Sylvia is great in this ep.

i like the part when slyvia poked max in the butt with the fork, lol, and the jealosy the max shows toward fran's date, fun ep. to watch, FOREVER A NANNY FAN!!!!

Fran is just beautiful and funny!!! What more could I say!!! I love her soooooooo much!!!!!

I loved the episodes that ended the way this one did, where Max and Fran are so close, yet miles away from each other. You just want to scream, but I loved it! Max really shows his jealous side in this one. He has his best moments when competing with other men for Fran's attention. Sylvia is just classic, chasing Fran, stealing food, poking Max in the tuchas...always meddling. The therapy scene with Yetta was really funny too, with all of them yelling at each other. Great family dinner scene, I love those. But the ending makes you run back next time to see if Max and Fran ever figure out they are destined to love each other.

As usual, some great moments and some slower ones... the scene with Sylvia and the fork was great, as were any of the scenes with Sylvia. An above average episode... not the best but far from the worst.

Fran Rules

the best of a good episode was the end when max and fran told each other that gracies, respectively the therapist of fran yetta and sylvia, have analysed that they unconsciously run away from a relationship.good to point out what was going on between them.of course max and fran were not able to see what it meant, but this was something we expected in no other way.the story of that marriage imposer was naturally the opportunity for some romance and as supposed we saw the typical jealousy of max(some of it was chocked by sylvias fork and nail attack very painful for him!!).but nevertheless it was a little bit suprising that the part after fran had realized that jules was a marriage imposer, did not cocentrated on her hidden love to maxwell, but on sylvias mania to get her daughter married.at least one has to remember the 'fine'-therapy and yettas remarks, for example the one concerning the ice-man.maybe this is the reason why sylvia has this special relation to all food(some genes?)"Dope Diamond"was good(as always),but could have been beter with some romantic stuff more.

I dont remember this ep very well, but I'm sure it's not one of my favorites... ;o)

I thought it was so funny when Sylvia poked Mr. Sheffield in the tuchas. I also loved the way the episode ended. "I'm stuck on you" was very cute.

So funny!! I love the line,"Dr.Kimble is a fugitive! What are the odds?!!" Overall one of the best!

Wie immer warten wir das Maywell endlich etwas unternimmt. Aber auch die mögliche Heirat von Fran reicht noch nicht als Anstoß !

3.4 A Fine Family Feud

It's Maggie's sixteenth birthday and Fran and Maggie are happily planning her party. Fran wants to have it at her Aunt Frieda's disco, but Sylvia and Frieda haven't spoken for years. Can Fran patch things up between the elder Fines? Written by: Frank Lombardi. Aunt Frieda: Lainie Kazan.

Our responses (27) gave the episode a 8.2 overall, a 8.6 for the comedy, and a 7.4 for romance.
Some comments received were:

the best is when Fran embraces Max, very funny

aunt Frieda is really fat. Love it

fran is lovely

i love the nanny more than anything i luv yr web site thanx

I have never seen this entire episode. I have been waiting for it to be shown in syndication and it was shown in areas where there are two episodes show everyday, but not where I am! I hope to see it soon!

This is my favorite non-Yetta episode. I thought that the chemistry between Laine and Renee was spectacular. The line about Frieda's Broadway line "Goobers or Raisinettes" was hysterical. I love the Jewish guilt Sylvia delivered with when she felt her side and said "is this a lump". Aunt Frieda is my Favorite Fran Fine Family relative next to Yetta, of course. I could go on and on about this classic Nanny episode, but I would rather read your comments.

very funny. Max and Fran male a great couple.

how could the world deal with that?! sylvia 2!! i could not believe that sylvia got a character that was a match for her,but it happened.comedy like the one in " A Fine Family Feud " makes "The Nanny" so unique, comedy like the two rolling rhinos, like frans attempt to seduce the two lady's with food and like frieda's and sylvia's double dialoque.PURE CHAOS!!the chaos found it's culmination in that marvellous cream-cake-battle.i could not settle if frans blue dress there or the very short one in the middle of the episode made her look better.but i am quite sure that the cream-cakes transformed her into the sweetest nanny of all times and i am also sure that her legs were much longer than the 'snake' of her ex-friend bernie.(snake is always a good name, isn't it).in 'The Nanny went silent-film'scene there was also this great cut to fran, who was completely besmeared with cream(despite of some plastic parts, great work of the make-up-artists and a lot of work for the baths)and the perfect possibility for niles and cc to take out their differences in a more practical way.but if cc really started this battle?oh i almost forgott:i died by niles attempt to catch miss babcock at the front-door.

Great One

This is one of my favorite eps. I loved the food fight at the end and when Fran rubbed the food all over Max.

nice end!

So far, I seem to be in the minority, but I didn't care too much for this episode. There were a few good lines though- CC: We were in the same sorority. Niles: Delta Felta Man? Also when Maggie asked Fran if she saved her old stuff- I thought it was funny when Fran said, "When I transferred from the Pinta to the Santa Maria they lost my luggage." Also when she was explaining to Maggie what a disaster her graduation party had been. Sylvia: "People stayed ALL NIGHT! Fran: That's 'cause they were stuck in the tar!" Not the worst, but definitely NOT one of my favorite!

I thought the part when Fran "hugs" Mr.Sheffeild was absolutely hilarious!

I thought the entire food fight was just juvenile. But I liked Lainie and Renee in this one and there were some good lines and a good story.

i just love seeing sylvia and freida together, its always a garanteed hylarious episode. a very funny and cute episode with memorable moments. this is one of the eps i have a strong recollection of watching in the original airing.

Some really funny scenes... Sylvia's guilt trip, CC's plans for the 'perfect' party at the Museum and, of course, the food fight! As Niles says in one episode... "funny, funny, funny!"

fran is lovely

3.5 Val's Apartment

Fran is disgusted at Maxwell's lack of respect for her personal time, so she decides to move out of the mansion and into an apartment with Val. But she quickly discovers that living with Val is no picnic either, and schemes to move home. Written by: Pamela Eells and Sally Lapiduss. Landlord: David L. Lander, Podiatrist: David Bowe.

Our responses (30) gave the episode a 8.2 overall, a 8.7 for the comedy, and a 7.2 for romance.
Some comments received were:

funny, very funny

one of the funniest part is when Val takes off her shoe to kill the roach. I laughed so much.

I loved this ep, it was definitly one of my favorites. I loved the part when Max and Fran were discussing what Sylvia's cover-up cost Fran, "grandchildren".

well i only wanna said the serie is great im a big fan of fran

yeah,funny

I love this episode. Especially the part where Val kills the bug with her shoe! Just love it! LOL

I LIKED THE PART WHEN FRAN SAID THAT AT LEAST NILES PRETENDS TO VACUME AND AFTER FRAN HAD LEFT HER ROOM NILES CAME PAST HER ROOM WITH THE VACUME.NOT ONE OF THE BEST EPISODES.

One of the funniest lines the Nanny has ever had was when Fran said "meanwhile, I'm not the one staying home on a Saturday night with my hand glued to his brontasaurus." And Maxwell goes,"just tell me how to get it off," and Fran replies,"try blowing in his ear." I have never laughed so hard, and every time I think about it it puts a smile on my face. And when Sylvia helped Fran and Maxwell out when she wanted to move back in and he wanted her back was fantastic. It showed how much they missed each other

I thought this was a good, solid episode. I love a jealous Max, and we got plenty of that, along with a wonderful "hot" fight. This is one of the many very solid episodes in this season---not too much REALLY remarkable in them, but steady entertainment throughout the show. Some fabulous lines and Fran Fine was very much the witty, strong, self-confident woman that I always admired. I have to admit, however, a certain prejudice for this one, simply cause it was the first episode I taped, and I never missed taping one after that!

I loved it when Fran said to kill the cock roach and val took off her shoe and stepped on it with her sock! That was great!

I love this episode. Especially that part with Max and the brontasaurus on his hand, and that vacume part.

I LOVE IT!!!!!! This is one of the funniest episodes!!!

I agree with the comment about this being a 'solid' episode... and the scene with Val and the roach has to be the best ever Val scene... I mean, she's done some pretty dumb things but that was the absolute funniest! A pleasant, agreeable episode with lots of laughs.

although main parts of "Val's Apartment" were foreseeable, the episode was not boring .there were a few things i liked particulary.so for example fran (dreschers)self ironical phrases:first the one concerning her nasal voice ,second the senewy habits of the children(which they learned of course from their nanny) and third her always perfect applied make-up.this scene in the middle of the night was great, not only because of frans and niles lines, but also since of niles scrouge-look and frans sexy night-gown.and the reason why she remained the make-up on her face was so fran-like.but i have my doubts that niles looked as sexy as fran in his dress.no wonder that cc got the upper hand of him with that coffee thing.another sucessfully idea was maxwells service for niles and the way he could deal with his children during the absence of his nanny(money at sunday for one example).really stupid was frans orthopädist date.what the heel did they think by giving her such an idiotic guy?'cause of yetta there is no question for me why most of the house members of fran belonged to the other'shore'.the king of nonsens was the gay house-owner.the only thing i missed was a totally clear scene in which fran and max pointed out that they could not live without each other anymore, not because of the children, but since of their feelings;concernig the plot a necessity.

Loved Fran's comment "It's not dawn's crack your looking at." Also enjoyed the way both Fran and Max worked it so she could move back into the mansion. Agree with another commenter about loving Fran's line about "grandchildren."

This episode started out really slow, but it didn't take long to pick up the pace! It is much better than I remember- many classic Nanny moments! The arguement between Max & Fran made them sound like they were already married and had been for a long time. The sticker line from B was hilarious as was Val removing her shoe to kill the roach in their new apt. Having the apt. look similar to Laverne & Shirley's old one and then having David Landers walk in talking about his partner Leonard was too well-contrived to be an accident. I absolutely loved the ending- Max and Fran were both too proud to admit they wanted her to be home, but by making it appear to be Sylvia's idea, it seemed O.K. The icing on the cake was that they knew each other well enough to realize the other one had made some sort of sacrifice to get her home, and that it hadn't been Sylvia's idea at all! Very funny episode over all!

great episode. I loved gracie's whining, b's 'cuz I'm not 10 years old anymore', and max and the brotosaurous. 'an old jewish remedy, cova yer mouth' and Sylvia being paid by both sides to reunite them.

A special one for me! This is one of the episodes which caused that I am the big fan that I am right now.

3.6 Shopoholic

Fran discovers that Danny Imperiali, her ex-fiance, is marrying his very pregnant girlfriend, Heather Biblow. The realization that the schmuck Danny has a life and she still doesn't sends a depressed Fran on a shopping jag. The Sheffield family does their best to help Fran get over her angst. Written by: Eric Cohen. Salesclerks: Kellie Beals, Adrienne Brett, Phillip Simon, Janine Jordae.

Our responses (39) gave the episode a 8.9 overall, a 8.8 for the comedy, and a 8.9 for romance.
Some comments received were:

the nanny is the best and the kisses between Max and Fran have chemistry.

This, believe it or not, is the first episode of The Nanny that I ever saw. I was hooked on the spot (and have been ever since)! One of my favorites.

I love the kiss that Max gives Fran it is the best part of all. It shows how much he loves her. Great ep!

Another of the great 3rd season Eps - Rich in comedy and romance. Highlights included: Fran in her bedroom surrounded by all the stuff she'd ordered - including a saddle !; Max trying to console Fran about her shopping addiction; Max and Niles trying to get Fran to quit shopping cold turkey - with some hilarious consequences and of course the scene that makes me turn to mush - Max trying to comfort Fran in the store until he realizes that he feels the same way she does and renders her unconscious with a kiss ..... sigh..... :-)

One of my favorite episodes, for sure! Cute interplay between Fran and Max. Love it when Fran shoos Val away, and Max stays with her through the night. Also, the gossipy friendship between Max and Niles was quite enjoyable. And the kiss was great! <long blissful sigh>...

Absolutely loved the kiss in the store which caused Fran to fall down and conveniently not remember, but apparently cured her. Also loved the scene when Max was staying up with her all night so she couldn't spend. Lots of cute comedic and caring/romantic moments in this one.

Very romantic episode!!! Liked the part with Niles, C.C., and the Br-r-r Freezer treats and the way Niles and Max kept carrying on like a couple of yentas, but best of all was Max trying his level best to help Fran. Loved the carbon on the nose (Ahh..Bloomingdales, that's the good stuff!). When Max stayed on the couch with Fran, I noticed he had his arm over her even then. I thought I would melt when he said, "...in the mean time, would you settle for 3 children who adore you and 1 man whose life would be very empty without you?" That has to be one of my favorite lines in the whole series. It lets Fran know without him actually saying so just how much he has come to care for her. Big step from the ep later in the second season when Fran thinks Max is dying and says, "I'll never leave you/Now I'm terrified!" to this.

YES, YES, YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DEFINITELY, ONE OF MY FAVOURITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THAT KISS... OOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that the kiss at the end was real popular, but that wasn't my favorite part of this episode. That kiss was too big and contrived (though I did like the conversation that preceeded it!). Rather, I really enjoyed the night on the couch. Sigh. This is another episode where one of the best parts was cut in syndication---the whole "Puppy Nose" sequence with the growling and "Drop It!" is gone!

what is there to say? the "shopaholic kiss" in the department store says it all! LOL!

I just LOVE it. I think it´s very romantic when Max "helps" Fran with her problem. I also think the final kiss was the beging of their very romantic life.

This is one of my very favorite episodes. There was nothing bad about this episode. Very romantic....scenes that were just incredible. Wow!!! Love this one!!!

this is one of my favorite nanny eps...funny and the kiss at the end...one of the best

funny, funny, funny

Fran is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorites as well - and not just for the kiss at the end. I loved the whole 'addicted to shopping' routine and the overnight 'withdrawal'. The comedy was there, the romance was there.

This episode had great comedy and romance. While the chemistry between Max and Fran is always present, I really liked that in this episode it was obvious that they were developing a sweet and caring friendship. It made the kiss at the end much more meaningful.

you have the best show in the world i love you all!!!!!!! i have all the shows on tape!!!!!!!

This could be the best all around episode of the Nanny. The comedy was perfect. "Miss Fine what are you going to do with a power drill?" "Lots of things, Capacinno anyone?" "Gracie Daddy hasn't been in therapy as much as you, small words?" "She's Nuts!" "Step one, my shopping has effected all of you, so sorry." The saddle, the lipstick, the ski suit...all perfect. And the romance! Max helping her through the night, hugging her while she cops his wallet... and that speech, did they connect or what? "It's not about Danny, its just, he's the biggest schlub in the whole world, and he's got some body. What if that doesn't happen for me?" "Will you settle for three children that adore you , and a man that would be lost without you!!!!!!!!!!" And the kiss (oh, I wish she hadn't blacked out) "Ya know, I think I'm over this whole shopping thing, but I sure could go for a cigarette!" Hoo Ha! Loved it!

I totally LOVED this episode!!! This is one of my favorites of all time. Fran and Maxwell really play this one up right. From Fran stirring his tea with a drill, Dragging Grace toe the mall, Max visiting Fran's room wiht all the stuff, buying coral lipstick, all the hugging, the tupperware party, Fran stealing Max's credit card, Fran and Max waking up on the sofa together (Fran, we did it! Oh you were wonderful Mr. Sheffield) and that ending at the mall where Max just loses control!!! WOW. You could just die...I Love it!! This episode demonstates all the reasons why The Nanny is so fantastic. All the kids, Niles, CC, Max and Fran lives are so interwoven in such an entertaining story that is so funny, frustrating and romantic. You are laughing all the way thru and the kiss at the end leaves you on the edge of your chair screaming...wanting a cigarette too.

despite the fact that we are talking about a sitcom, "Shopoholic " delt with a serious problem(or a metaphor of a serious problem)fran trembling and covered in a blanket rememberes me of some real drug-problems.but on the other side one should not deal too serious with that plot, because therefore it (especially fran) was too good.fran was great as a nanny who was addicted to shopping.but who has choosen that ski-dress? she looked like an ermine!later she did that funny scene in the mall by playing a needy-person and in addition she morphed into a small dog with a credit card between her teeth(made her even more sexy!!!).furthermore i speculated about niles' plan with brightons dessous cataloque.cc's encounter with the ice ,as well as niles and maxwells 'coffee-chat' were some of the other comedy highlights.of course i enjoyed the end.who could have expected that maxwell cured his nanny from her mania with the help of that romantic kiss!(and wow,the looks the gave each other!!!!).i am certainly not the only one who believed that maxwell was more than a little disappointed that fran forgot the event after her unconsciousness.but every kind of happy end would not have been a good decision at this point of the love.story plot.i can not put it in the right words, but i like this romantic story of "The Nanny" more than every thing else on tv.

Cool

I really love this show. It´s the best I know!!!

What can one say about this one. By far one of my favorite eps. There are few that I will watch 2-3 ties in a row, but last weekend I think I watched it 5 times back to back to back to back to back.

Max is incredible handsome in jeans...WOW...

i have to admit that i thoroughly enjoy this ep. the funnies part is when sydney admits to fran that she is gay and isn't interested in max in that way! the double-take that fran does takes the cake. what else can i say, but that this ep inspired me to write an alternative ending fan fic. ciao for now.

I love the scene where Fran gets stucked on the elevator. Nice Ep!

I loved this one specially Max in jeans.

My favorite part of this episode was Maxwell in the jeans with all of the holes in them. WOW!! The line "To be a "M" again, you gotta get out there and make an "S" outta yourself" was classic. Loved IT! Barb, what a perfect song to play with this episode!!! No man really looks like that, do they? OH MY!! [webmaster's note: Well, this was the song Max came home drunk singing, so really Max picked it.]

the first time since " Fran Lite " there was a rival for fran.in contast to the less convinced reasons for frans failed relationships,it was a great idea how max' flirt with sidney found it's end.but i could not see over the fact that there were some paralleles to the episode before:there it was fran and here it was max who went into depression because of her/his luck with the other sex.but nevertheless the story was quite good.so for example niles got the opportunity to take over the position of his boss and of course he was great!as good as niles was the link concerning women and telephone(the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!),the slow motion scene, frans line about 'piglet' niles and her line about a part of maxwells body she had seen in "The Family Plumbing".the scene in the lift was a disappointment,as,despite of a 5-minute scene and the story before, fran and max did not get nearer a little bit.there was only the allusion of the week when max pointed out that he would not even recognize the woman of his dreams if she falled from heaven, while fran droped from the ceiling

Let's see: 1,2,3... hmmm there's one below the left knee that's 4, one just below the right cheek - that's 5...oh sorry - got distracted counting those holes in Maxwell's jeans ;-) I loved this ep. It had some terrific lines and was really entertaining in so many ways ;-)

It's okay-not my favorite,but it's a sure keeper

i loved this ep.

the nanny is the best show ever and I love it!!!!

I love your show. It is hilarious

i was just thinking about this episode the other day it was killing me to figure out which episode Maxwell had the jeans with the rips on them..now it know great episode...especially when they are stuck in the elevator!!!

i like this ep, some funny lines, best scenes were when fran discovers sidney is gay and the elevator. i know i know, its been done a million times before, but its a classic standard. but when i first watched the rerun ep, i noticed that they cut out the very end of the elevator scene, and now i can't remember what it was! am i right about this barb? [webmaster's note: I have no idea. I haven't seen this one in syndication for awhile, so I really don't remember what was cut. Anyone else know? Post it to the Board!]

Sorry, folks, but this episode was just not there! And it started with such promise! I thought the most romantic part was the breakfast scene with the kids' normal noises magnified and Fran talking to Max about the M & the S. Outside of that, it wasn't that great an episode- liked the recently crafted fanfic ending MUCH better!

Nanny is the best thing I ever seen..... Fran D. and the rest of the cast are very good acters....

Just the line, in the dark, from this deep, masculine voice - "That's not it!" Need I say more?

I'm a huge fan of fran dresher! BBBIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGG!!!!

that is a sick episode.

It was a good epsiode--I liked it!

Pretty good ep. It was neat to see Max a little different style of clothing, he really cool in those jeans and slicked back hair. Fran was also very funny in this ep.

Liked Fran's genuine concern for Max at the beginning and her total jealousy of Sydney in the middle. Could actually see Sydney laughing with her body when Fran said "I'm letting go and you're not, why?" Loved Fran's hot pink dress in the elevator. Wish we could have seen more of it.. Also the line about the phone--"that's NOT it" Max says. Fran--"Well I'd better quit talking into it then."

Maxwell + Jeans = Cute

3.8 The Party's Over

Maxwell and C.C. have taken the younger Sheffield children with them on a business trip to Boston, leaving Fran and Maggie alone in the house. funny, not one of my favourites.

I like the part where Fran is dancing with the guy that looks like hitler. LOL. Also when Milton Berle falls asleep! Nice ep!

Niles just steals the show in this one...what a legend!

It is the best comedy of the world! I see it side two years and always again! I have very very videos of the Nanny!!!

not one of my favourites but i love the nenny

This episode is too funny!!!!! And also kinda romantic. I Love the part when Niles is preparing drinks and all Fran´s dance partners!!!! Just great!

I loved this ep i thought it was hillarious. The party seen was great. I loved the part with sign on Maxwell's car "honk if your a hunk."

I loved the party stuff. All three of the dance partners, Niles cheerfully mixing drinks, Fran finally getting a 'good' one in Jeff, and then the aftermath when Niles got to "walk the plank". The courtroom scene was a bit stilted, but nice to give a nod to the old stars.

Fran Rocks

An 'OK' episode... Jeff the cop was the highlight, along with Niles, the pirate. I also liked how Niles pointed out to Max how much Fran meant to Maggie.

This one was pretty funny, esp. when Fran keeps asking her dance partners if they met Val yet!! LOL!! so funny! :)

the most important thing first:fran drescher looked stunning in the whole episode!!!!!(ok as always, but this time it was unbelievable).i can not believe that she is the same person as the one in the first season!to quote maggie :"fran you are a goddess".i know i act a little bit too horny, but on the other side for men fran dreschers atractivity is one of the elements of the show(as charles looking is for the girls).enough with the hormones, the episode was a good one, too.so i could not end laughing about frans mad party guys and her disappointment that the 'thing' she felt was only a gun.also she got alarmed by maxwells morning problems, concerning stiff body parts(certainly because of the future with him!?). furthermore i hoped niles enjoyed his adventure with one of the party girls;maybe she could cure him from the braces pain!

The best line in the show was when Max asked Niles if he thought C.C. wanted to get away with him, Max, so she could,'you know' and Niles said 'Shout the British are coming!'. That and the guys Fran kept meeting at the party were the highlight."Have you met my friend Val?" Sweet that Max did not fire her after all.

This was a cute espisode. A very good bonding moment between Fran and Maggie. The party was hilarious, with all the different guests (men)with the hair and wanting to try on Fran's shoes and Val acting so obtuse about everything. Best line was Niles "I was a pirate" after seeing Fran with her handcuffs from getting arrested. Maxwell was totally himself in how he acted, grounding Fran and sending her to her room. Charles is at his best in this type of setting with Fran, trying to act like the Dad and all the while not realizing how he feels about Fran. It was also great great at the end, when Fran and Max banter, back and forth "what are you gonna do, spank me..oh, what do you know, back to turned on..." Lightly romantic with some funny moments.

This was not one of my favorite episodes, although when the Judge asked her if she had her attorney present and she said she didn't get him anything, let's see how he does first. LOL!!ROTFL!! That was HYSTERICAL!!!

3.9 The Two Mrs. Sheffields

Maxwell's mother Elizabeth comes for a visit and is appalled at Fran's unconventional child care methods. Maxwell take umbrage at her criticism and to get back at her, asks Fran to marry him. She happily accepts, at least for a while. Written by: Diane Wilk. Elizabeth Sheffield: Dina Merrill, Guy in Flower Shop: Craig Damon, Florist: Richard Julian.

Our responses (30) gave the episode a 9.0 overall, a 8.9 for the comedy, and a 8.9 for romance.

I love this episode because of the kisses between Max and Fran an in this one there are lots. the best part is when Fran tricks Max in her house.

how can you not like this ep? everything that happens from the time max rings the doorbell at sylvias's apartment is constant hilarity! my favorite line was:
max: miss fine!
fran: oh, mr sheffield, you wanna play that game? all right. you're the boss, and i'm the nanny. you give me a raise, and i'll give you one!!!
the first time i heard that i fell off the sofa. i was laughing so hard. ciao for now.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one of the bests!!!

This one was great. Very funny, and definitely shows Maxwell loves Fran but is still very vulnerable. Too bad we didn't get to see the kids' reactions to the fake proposal! The "you give me a raise" line I've never been crazy about, but the whole scene beginning with "Hello Dolly in Spaghetti-O's" was fabulous!

I loved this ep. I loved Frans line "your the boss im the nanny, you give me a raise and ill give you one." It was definitly a classic. I also loved Fran's clothes in this ep.

I just love the end of the show. And I also like to imagine, how in the world did Max told Sylvia, she wasn´t going to live with them. LOL!

This is my absolute favorite of the third season. The actress who played Maxwell's mother was regally icy & perfect for the part. It's too bad they didn't have her back again later in the series. The scene where Maxwell asks Fran to marry him to spite his mother was the most memorable but the scenes in the kitchen with CC & then with Maxwell & Fran were excellent too. I also loved how Niles made arrangements for the honeymoon in an attempt to make Maxwell go through with it & Fran's 'torture' of Maxwell after she clued in to his motivation for proposing. This is one to savor on the vcr.

This is one of my favorite episodes. I love everything about it.

episodes exactly like this one made this sitcom so unusual and kind.the romance, the story and everything else made me totally happy at the end.and although i expected something really important between fran and max(mostly because of the idiotic german synchronisation that had given the episode the title "The Proposal")it would not have been the right moment for the happy-end;since of the reason the plot dealt with.so all one had to do was to enjoy:niles plan for the honeymoon, the sweet kiss and fran's and max's 'show' for maxwells mother.they were so sexy together...it was unbelievable!!!as good as niles,as the one who first was overjoyed and finally had to suffer for another time, was elisabeth sheffield.really a great character and i am still a little bit disappointed that they never picked up her again.wow there were a lot of affairs in the sheffield family, why was max so reserved with fran?in addition to the great story madeline zima did a phantastic job by doubling her nanny.not only her look, but also her movements were that of frans.if maxwell had not regret his decision to take back the proposal by seeing fran in this white costume(oh god this dekollete!!!!)i have no doubts he did it after frans explanation what she would have worn in their first night.i could not think of a more effectiv punishment.so what can i say at the end for this time...i love the show and i would die for fran drescher!

This is one of the best eps. My all time fave line "Mr. Sheffield ya wanna play that game.....". Another great one, Max's Mother is fussing at him for not dressing properly "You can hardly tell you from the servants." "That's easy Mother, I'm the one working!" Maddie's wonderful Fran impression "Haaaaa Haaaaa". The kiss, the couch, the revenge. "First, ya can't tell Ms. Babcock for 24 hours, I promised Niles." "And you have to return my wardrobe for the honeymoon" "There's only a lipstick in here." "Suffa." Loved every minute of it.

This is one of my all-time favorite episodes next to the wedding and a handful of others. I love the way references are made all the way thru the series to old TV shows (i.e. "Thatgirl")which just adds to the fun. Loved Gracie's mini-Fran and also Niles' line, "Would you like me to poison them at dinner?" and Max's reaction: "Niles!...That's 2 hours away!" Although the kissing scenes (both places) were good (notice it didn't take Fran long to say yes?), I thought the best part was when Max said to his mother she'd made him "angry enough to hurt someone he cared very deeply about." This is the first time I remember Max admitting that he cared for Fran aloud, and I about melted! Great overall ep!

this is one of the best episodes, funny, romantic etc.....

I hope there is a continuation of The Nanny when they move to LA

Another overall pleasing episode... like an earlier comment said, it's a shame we didn't get to see more of Elizabeth - the woman who played her did such an excellent job! The jokes were there, the kisses, Niles (in his usual fine form!) and, like another comment said, Max' line to his mother about hurting someone he cared deeply about! I, too, wonder what story line Max would have come up with to tell Sylvia... maybe a fan fiction or two could come up with different solutions!

great episode
