Fran is anxious to share her good news with her mother about her pregnancy, but she is worried about Maxwell's reaction since he had said a baby was the last thing they needed.

Niles overheard Fran and Sylvia talking earlier in the kitchen and comes in the living room whimpering.
Fran: Why are you crying?
Niles: Because I'm thrilled about our baby and I don't give a damn what he thinks.
Fran: Shhhh, I don't want him to hear about it from you! I wanna be the one to tell Maxwell about little Shlomo.

Fran makes Niles swear he won't spill to Max and the three of them celebrate the coming baby.

Niles accidentally lets the secret slip to C.C. and in order to ensure her silence, he offers to be her slave.

Maxwell, however, isn't getting it.
Max: Don't you worry darling, when the time is right, we'll make a beautiful baby together. In the meantime, we can always rehearse...
Fran: What if I said that we don't need to rehearse because we're already in production?
Max: You're talking as if we were having a baby right now.
Fran: Well, what if we were?
Max: But we're not.
Fran: Well let's pretend.
Max: Let's not.
Fran: Why not?
Max: Because. Because I am too turned on by my gorgeous wife to think of having anything but a little afternoon delight with the woman I love.

Meanwhile, Fran is trying to tell Maxwell. She prepares an 'afternoon delight' of all Max's favorite foods and herself in a gorgeous negligee.

Fran: That is the most horrible thing that you have ever said to me.
Max: What?
Fran: I can't believe you! You wanted to go on a vacation with me, you think I'm sexy, you love my body, and you don't want little Shlomo or Shloma.
Max: I don't understand a word you say. Why are you acting so irrationally?
Fran: Because that's the way pregnant woman act!
And she slams her way out the door. Now he gets it.

C.C.'s slave is testing hair colors for her. That's not a good one, have to try another.

Max calls Niles into his office to talk about the baby.
Niles: Well do you want to have a baby or not?
Max: Well, after thinking about it, of course I want to have a baby with Fran. I love her.
Niles: Well, I better overhear you telling her this soon Mister because I am not getting any younger.

Meanwhile, Fran has escaped to the park. She meets Caryn, a young mother who convinces her that Maxwell will come around.

Fran stands up to go home, but is suddenly doubled over in pain.

At the hospital, the doctor is amazed at the long list of foods Fran has consumed that morning and also orders an ultrasound to check on the baby.

In the waiting room, Sylvia cries and Max paces.
Sylvia: What's happening, when are they going to let us see her?
Max: Listen Mom I'm sure Fran and the baby are doing just fine.
Sylvia: That's the first time you called me 'mom'.
Max: Well, you've been more of a mother to me than my own mother ever was.
Sylvia: You've certainly seen more of me. You're a good man.

They finally let Max in to see Fran.
Max: Oh Darling, are you all right?
Fran: I am now.
Max: I was so worried.
Fran: Honey did you ask the doctor about the baby?
Max: They are running some tests. Sweetheart I'm so sorry about what I said.
Fran: Oh sweetie you can't blame yourself, it's the way you feel. You don't want to have a baby now, I can understand that.
Max: That was before I knew we were having one. I didn't know I wanted another wife till I met you.

Fran and Max talk about little Shlomo.
Max: He's going to grow big and strong and just like his dad, he'll be a member of the chess club.
Fran: Or like his mom, be a member of the price club.

Dr. Reynolds finally comes in with the test results.
Fran: Oh Dr. Reynolds, thank God you're here. How's the baby?
Dr. Reynolds: Fran, I'm so sorry....

Do You Want To Know A Secret
(McCartney/Lennon)

You'll never know how much I really love you.
You'll never know how much I really care.

Listen,
Do you want to know a secret,
Do you promise not to tell, whoa oh, oh.

Closer,
Let me whisper in your ear,
Say the words you long to hear,
I'm in love with you.

Listen,
Do you want to know a secret,
Do you promise not to tell, whoa oh, oh.
Closer,
Let me whisper in your ear,
Say the words you long to hear,
I'm in love with you.

I've known the secret for a week or two,
Nobody knows, just we two.

Listen,
Do you want to know a secret,
Do you promise not to tell, whoa oh, oh.

Closer,
Let me whisper in your ear,
Say the words you long to hear,
I'm in love with you.
