3.13 An Offer She Can't Refuse

Grace and her friend Franky are practicing their instruments at the Sheffield house.

Franky's dad, Tony, comes to pick him up and he takes a shine to Fran.

Tony sends Fran a box a beef as a gift before their big date. Max: Who's Tony and why is he sending you London Broil?

Max: Oh Miss Fine, look at you. Don't you look ravishing! Fran: Thanks, I'm going out with Tony tonight. Max: In that? Fran: Don't you like it? Max: It's just that it's freezing tonight. Fran: Don't you worry about me. I've got a coat.

Max: What's this Tony fellow like? Fran: He's cute, he's rich, he's got an adorable accent and he loves musical theater. I'll tell you, he's like nobody I've ever met before. Max: What kind of car does he drive? Fran: A limo. Max: Town Car? Fran: Stretch, it enormous. Max: Bigger than mine? Fran: Honey, if it's so important to you, whip yours out of the garage and we'll have a limo measuring contest.

Tony takes Fran to an Italian restaurant and Fran is impressed with the service Tony gets. Tony: The owner's in the family. Fran: Oh? A cousin? Tony: No relation.	Tony gives Fran a present of a necklace. Tony: Fran, you are the most lovely creature I have ever set eyes upon, except for my late mother. Poor women. Just couldn't keep her mouth shut.
	Fran excuses herself to take a picture of the necklace and to call Val to tell her about it.

While she is in the bathroom, a gunfight breaks out in the restaurant. Fran: They're not gonna get this!

Fran: Tony, what happened? Tony: Jimmy Knuchi said 'hello.'

The next morning, Val arrives bright and early to see what it was that Tony had given Fran. Fran: Who cares what he gave me. Isn't it gorgeous?

Fran tells Val that she has to break up with Tony because he is in the mob. Val: Fran, just because he's Italian doesn't mean he is in the mob. That's like saying just because you're Jewish, your mother drives you crazy and you eat when you're upset!

Fran is afraid that if she tries to break up with Tony, he will rub her out. Fran: Hey wait a minute, Tony's not the only one with muscle in his family. I got relatives too. I can have him taken care of. Niles: You mean killed? Fran: No. Audited.

Maxwell is upset because he and C.C. need a tenor for their next show.	During the conversation, it comes out that Tony has aspirations to appear on Broadway. Max: You know Tony, perhaps if you weren't so involved with Miss Fine, you'd have time to understudy Mandy. Fran: Oh he's not going to break up with me to be an understudy. Tony: Stay out of this baby.
Niles lets Mr. Sheffield in on Miss Fine's difficulties breaking up with Tony and Maxwell rides to the rescue.

Max: Oh cheer up Miss Fine. So Tony wasn't the one. You're a beautiful woman. You shouldn't go rushing into relationships. Don't chase men, find a way to make them chase you.

Fran: All right. I'll give it a shot. Your new understudy? He's in the mob. Max: Miss Fine!
