Fran shocks the family when she comes down to breakfast one morning fully dressed. She was hoping they could go out to eat to get out of the rut of predictability they had gotten into.

Niles suggests to Max that he do something wild, something out there.
Fran: ....so predictable.
Max: Oh yeah.... oh yeah??
Bet you didn't think I was going to do that!
Fran: Sure, tousle Niles' hair. Typical.

Mr. Sheffield is worried about Fran thinking he is too predictable.
Max: Niles, I want her to be happy here, how do you suggest I go about satisfying Miss Fine?
Niles: Well, the second way....

Fran goes to talk to her mother about her boring relationship with Mr. Sheffield.
Sylvia: Are you living with him?
Fran: Yeah.
Sylvia: Are you taking care of his kids?
Fran: Yeah.
Sylvia: Are you having sex?
Fran: No.
Sylvia: Then you're married!

Suddenly, predictability is a good thing when Sylvia lets Fran know that things are always changing, even at her house.
Sylvia: Things change here. Look, I changed the curtains, I got new contact paper, I threw your father out, I changed to Wishbone Fat Free dressing...

Sylvia finally convinces Fran it is for real.
Fran: Oh my God! He took his good hair!

Fran invites her two Grandma's, Yettie and Nettie, over to discuss getting Sylvia and Morty back together.

Turns out Morty has been staying with Nettie at her "Hostess Snowball" apartment. Fran finds him in his favorite room (the bathroom) and she tries to convince him to go home.

Fran: Daddy! Come out of there. What are you doing in there?
Sylvia: Me!
Sylvia and Morty made up, and Fran sees the value in predictability.

But Max had decided to do a little "changing" to try to please Fran.

Max: Miss Fine, you were right. I was too boring. I need to mix it up. Keep 'em guessing.
Fran: No I miss boring. I want it, I need it, I gotta have it!

Max: How could you let me do this. Look at me--I'm dressed like Doc bloody Severinsen. With my Friday tie on a Tuesday! Life with you is the most convoluted, exasperating, incomprehensible.....

Fran: Go ahead and yell. That's stable, that's healthy.
And everything is back to normal in the Sheffield house.

Just The Way You Are

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.
I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.
