3.23 The Cantor Show

written by: Diane Wilk

Our CommentsFun Stuff

It's Friday night and Fran is going to temple to meet the new cantor. Niles tells Fran that the airline has lost her luggage and that it is automatically insured for $500.

The new cantor takes a shine to Fran and they decide to start dating.

Max and C.C. have Burt Bacharach over to the house to work on their new show. Gary's singing impresses Burt and he wants him to be in the show.

Fran and Gary are getting along famously and Sylvia invites them to a dinner party at her apartment. Gary want to make an announcement, though Fran is disappointed when the announcement is not a proposal but that he is leaving the temple to pursue a career on Broadway.

When the star of the show is hit by a bus, Max and C.C. offer the lead to Gary.

Meanwhile, the entire temple blames Sylvia for losing Gary. She wants Max to fire Gary, but Fran is thinking she may end up engaged to a star and refuses. Sylvia reminds them that God will punish them for taking the cantor away from the temple.

But neither Fran or Max take her seriously.
Max: So much for your mother putting a whammy on us. On the contrary, it seems God has sent us both a nice Jewish boy.

Fran: Oh you know I was never worried. If God listened to a word Ma said, I'd be living in a mansion with a handsome millionaire and gorgeous kids...... she forgot to say married??

But maybe it is a curse....Gary has gotten a part in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and is leaving Mr. Sheffield's show to fly off to LA.

Gary: You know Fran, my whole life all I ever thought about was settling down and getting married. Then I met you and you changed all that.
Fran: How ironic.

To get rid of the curse, Fran donates the $500 check she got from the airlines to the temple. Her luck returns immediately.

I Say A Little Prayer

(Words and Music by Burt Bacharach)

The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little prayer for you
While combing my hair, now,
And wondering what dress to wear, now,
I say a little prayer for you

Forever, forever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, forever, we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together, together, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me.

I run for the bus, dear,
While riding I think of us, dear,
I say a little prayer for you.
At work I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time,
I say a little prayer for you.

Forever, forever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, forever we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together, together, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me.
