2.26 Fran Gets Mugged

Maxwell is loaning an original page of Shakespeare to a benefit for the Metropolitian Museum of Art.	Since she is going out anyway, Mr. Sheffield asks Fran to pick up some things for him from a list on his desk. 'Hamlet of Denmark'--why can't he just write a small Danish ham?
Meanwhile, Fran is taking Brighton to pick up a new pair of glasses. Mr. Sheffield offers them the use of a car, but Fran wants to walk instead.

Walking through the park on the way home, somebody grabs Fran's purse.	At home, Fran realizes what was in her purse. Oh my God--he's got my Cadillac Red lipstick! It's discontinued!! I want that creep to fry!
The experience was a little more than Brighton could handle.

Mr. Sheffield called the police and Fran was happy to talk to the "NYPD Jew" they sent over.

Fran is a little nervous because the thief has her address. Just Gracie coming up behind her is tramatic. Unison: What's the matter? I don't know! You scared me!!

Niles: Excuse me sir, I'll take that Shakespeare down to the framers. Max: I thought you already did that Niles. It was right here. No one's been in here but you, me, C.C. and..... Miss Fine!!

Fran: All right, don't panic, let's retrace our steps....then yada yada yada, I walked over here to pick up the list. Brown shoelaces, foot powder, Earl Grey. Uh oh. Please tell me McBeth is something you eat with McFries?!

Max: You took the Shakespeare instead of my list? Please tell me it wasn't in your purse?!	Max: The Shakespeare is gone! It was in Miss Fine's stolen purse! C.C.: I'll kill you!!! Niles: Sir, aren't you going to stop her? Max: Oh, I will.
Fran: It wasn't in my purse. Max: Are you lying? Fran: Uh huh.

The police caught the guy and Fran had to go down and identify him. Oh my God. It's him!! The Sheer Elegance All Day Beige between the control top and the cotton crotch!

The cop comes by to tell Fran that the mugger is just doing community service and has been released. Cop: Look at you, you sweet little thing. What you need is a man around the house. Max: All right, that's it. First of all, there is a man around the house. Second, she happens to be brave, confident and gutsy and you've turned her into a simpering, whimpering child again. I don't like what you've done to her. This is not the woman I know and.... know.

But the purse wasn't recovered and the Shakespeare was gone. Fran tries to cheer up Max with some TV--but every channel seems to have on Shakespeare related stuff.

Mr. Sheffield takes Fran back to the park so she won't be afraid to go out anymore. They run into the mugger doing his community service.	They had a great time at the show. Fran: Hamlet is my new favorite play. People eating prime rib with their hands, everybody stabbing each other in the back. I'll tell you, put Polonius in a powder blue tux, ya got my cousin Claudine's wedding.
The mugger says he's sorry and returns the Shakespeare to try to make it up to them. He also offers them two tickets to a Shakespeare festival in Jersey.

Max: It's good to have you back Miss Fine. I've missed you. Fran: Oh Mr. Sheffield, is that you talking, or that bottle of Don Corleone we had in the limo? Max: That's Dom Perignon Miss Fine. Fran: Whoever. Max: Oh Miss Fine... Fran. Fran: Mr. .... Max?

But Niles interrupts. Fran: Oh My God!!!! What are the odds on the one night we go to the theater? Max: I'd say the odds are pretty good when the robber gives you the bloody tickets!

The thief returned Fran's lipstick but.... Max: I wonder if he took the Monet? Fran: You're right. My earrings!!

C.C.: You go ahead Maxwell, see what's missing. I'll untie Niles..... [skyward] Thank You!
