Fran Sheffield walked towards the livingroom and looked around. Jonah and Eve were upstairs napping and besides herself, the house was empty. Everyone was out and about leaving Fran alone for a few hours which was fine with her. All she had to worry about was her twins.

Fran sat down and looked down at the ring on her right hand. She fingered it as she thought of the significance it brought to her heart. It was her Mother’s Day gift from Max. The ring with all five of their children’s birth stones was perfectly arranged in a gorgeous platinum setting. She smiled as she realized it was her first Mother’s Day and loved the way it made her feel.

Fran sighed in contentment, "Thank God for central air, it has to be at least 100 degrees out today. Oy, this damn heat wave is gonna kill me. Where is Niles, I wanna cold drink."

She decided to go swimming, so she rose from the couch and went upstairs to her and Max’s room to change. She opted for that really sexy bikini she bought at the Chanel boutique on Rodeo Drive. She laughed as she remembered getting home from that shopping trip with Gracie.

Max had found the bill and walked into the bathroom yelling at Fran for how much she had spent. She can remember his exact words.

"Fran! Fran, what is this bill?"

"What bill?" She had asked innocently.

"Fran, don’t act like you don’t know. How can you spend this much in one afternoon?"

"Max, did you or did you not tell me that I’m a very wealthy woman now?"

"Well, I guess I did, but Darling what could you have purchased for this amount?" When he asked that last question he had entered the bathroom where Fran was. Max stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he saw what Fran was wearing. She had on the shortest, tightest, sexist ivory teddy that he had ever seen, not to mention 90% of it was see through. And God, did she look beautiful in it.

"Now, Maxwell Sheffield, does that look on your face mean that you don’t have a problem with me buying this? Ya know Honey, I have plenty more where this came from. I bought this all for you, although I don’t know why. It’s not like these stay on that long." She winked at Max and smiled.

He walked right over to where she was standing and swept her into his arms. He carried her to the bed and turned off the lights.

Fran smiled again, repeating the scene in her mind. Yeah, she knew how to appeal to her husband no matter what mood he was in. She could always end up getting him to laugh and apologize, even if it wasn’t his fault and it was about time he did, since she was the one who always had to apologize before.

Fran grabbed a towel from their bathroom and started towards the twins’ room to look in on them. She slowly opened the door, there was Jonah half way in his bed while the other half wiggled back and forth in the air.

Eve was giggling at her brother and repeating "Onah! Onah!"

"Jonah Samuel Sheffield! What do ya think you’re trying to do?" Fran yelled at him as she made her way to his bed and placed him back into it. Eve laughed as her brother got into trouble, but Fran turned to her, "and Eve Katherine Sheffield, did you have a hand in this too?"

Jonah and Eve looked up at their mother with innocent eyes and started pouting. Eve started to talk back to Jonah in their secret language, "Jonah, I told you Mommy was coming. Ya never listen to me."

"I never listen because you’re usually lying about it."

"Oy!"

"Double Oy!" Jonah had responded back to her as he rubbed his temples.

Fran looked into both of her babies’ faces and decided to change them into their swimsuits since they were awake. Of course they were her life, she didn’t mind one bit. She smiled as Jonah gave her a big kiss on the mouth.

When Fran finished dressing Jonah, she put him on the floor and grabbed Eve. Eve put her head on her Mommy’s shoulder and looked down at Jonah. "Jonah I’m getting the tiger stripped bikini!"

Jonah just shook his head at his sister and shakily walked towards the door. Eve wanted to get him into trouble since he didn’t pay any attention to her so she screamed, "Onah!!"

"Hold it right there young man. You have to wait for Evie and Mommy." Fran chided her son.

Fran finished placing the swimsuit on Eve. She bent down to pick up Jonah in one arm and then picked up Eve in the other. "Oy, you two are gonna have to start walking everywhere, Mommy can’t carry you both like Daddy can for too much longer."

Fran started down the steps with her kids and her smile never disappeared once, not even when Jonah sneezed on her. Fran just laughed and hugged both her kids to her chest.

She was working in a bridal shop in Flushing, Queens,
'Til her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes.
What was she to do? Where was she to go? She was out on her fanny...
So over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffield's door.
She was there to sell make-up, but the father saw more.
She had style! She had flair! She was there.
That's how she became the Nanny!

Who would have guessed that the girl we've described,
Was just exactly what the doctor prescribed?
Now the father finds her beguiling (watch out C.C.!).
And the kids are actually smiling (such joie de vivre!).
She's the lady in red when everybody else is wearing tan...
The flashy girl from Flushing, the Nanny named Fran!

Fran was done swimming so she put Eve and Jonah in their floaters and placed them in the shallow end so they could stay in. She sat down on the lounge watching her babies splash each other and in the process getting her drenched. A few moments later, Jonah and Eve started shouting "Dada! Dada!"

Fran looked up, expecting to see Max, but he was no where in sight. She looked at Eve and Jonah wondering why they called for their daddy.

"What is it, you two? I don’t see Daddy."

"Oy, Mommy, he’s right behind you!" Eve tried to warn her mother, but since her vocabulary was still quite limited she couldn’t tell her. She tried so hard to say it but it came out only in the silent language her and Jonah use.

The next thing Fran knew she was underwater again. She raised back up and shook herself off trying to get a handle of what just happened. She understood as soon as she saw Max laughing hysterically at her.

"Maxwell Sheffield!"

"Uh oh, Evie. I think Daddy’s gonna get it big time."

"Yeah, well he deserves it, but it was funny, wasn’t it Jonah?"

"Hello Darling. I’m sorry. Did I get you all wet?" Max had finally managed to spit out after he stopped laughing.

Fran stared at him, not knowing how to handle this conversation. She thought about it for a moment and started.

"You can say that. In one way or another." She smiled at him and he just stood there as meaning to her statement sunk in.

He smiled back and extended his hand to her, so he could help her up. Fran took it gratefully but instead of letting him help her, she helped him into the pool--suit and all. Max was caught off guard as he landed in the pool beside Fran. He laughed as he pulled her into an embrace and started kissing her.

The twins watched the whole scene. Eve was clapping her hands for Mommy and Jonah was actually laughing at his Daddy for getting himself into the mess.

"Jonah, did you see that? Mommy got Daddy really good!"

"Evie I have to admit that a blind man could have seen that coming. Poor Daddy."

"Poor Daddy, nothing. Look at Mommy giving in to him. Hmmmm....when I get married you better believe that my husband is gonna suffer if he did that to me."

"Evie, he’d suffer just being married to you!" Jonah pointed out to his sister.

Eve took her hand and hit Jonah in the arm, making the little boy whimper. He shot her a look and Eve just smiled at him. Oy are these two the splitting images of their parents or what?

Fran and Max were kissing passionately until they heard Jonah whimper and turned to look at their babies. They saw the look between Eve and Jonah and knew that somehow the two were communicating. Max glanced back at Fran and looked her up and down. He saw for the first time the bikini she had on and he loved what he saw.

He let his hands caress her beautiful body, he started at her shoulders then down her back, coming to a rest on her hips. Max bent down and kissed Fran again this time with a little more passion then before. He then took her hand in his and led her down by the twins.

"So here are the other two special people in my life." Max sweetly expressed to his children. He picked up Eve and gave her a little kiss on the cheek as Fran picked up Jonah.

"Dada!" Eve and Jonah shouted in unison.

"Oy, so you two were trying to tell me that your Daddy was home, weren’t ya?" Fran asked her babies and glared at Max.

Max took Jonah from Fran as she jumped out of the pool. Feeling Max’s eyes on her every step of the way, she turned quickly and met his glance, They both smiled and stared for a moment. She grabbed the towel and wrapped it around her, while she walked back to Max. He handed her both babies so he could then get out of the pool.

Fran gave Max Jonah and they headed up to the twins’ room to change them both into their normal clothes. Fran looked at Max all the way up to their rooms. She wondered why he had come home so early.

"Sweetie, not that I don’t love having you home at this time, but why are you home?"

"Oh yeah. I forgot my briefcase when I left. It seemed that a certain young attractive woman distracted me this morning making me forget everything. It took me over three hours to come back to reality and realize I haven’t done anything at all since my case was still at home. And knowing that she would still be there when I went to pick it up, was all the initiative I needed." Max smiled as he leaned over to kiss Fran, while Jonah and Eve giggled at them.

"What’s wrong big boy?" Max asked his son as Jonah just stared into his Daddy’s eyes.

"Dada! Mama!" He softly stated pointing to both Max and Fran.

"Good boy!" Fran praised her son and then turned towards Eve. She saw her daughter’s expression change from happy to mad and knew she needed to pacify her before she threw a tantrum. "Don’t worry Evie, you can talk too."

"Jonah, that wasn’t fair! You show off!"

"Me? Evie you are the one who is always trying to top me."

"Well, fine! I’ll just show off again." Eve turned to her Mommy and Daddy while waiting for the right moment. She chose the perfect time and stated, "Luv ou."

Max and Fran stopped and looked at each other unbelieving in what Eve just said. Fran was the first to speak, "Evie, we love you too." Fran turned towards Max once again, "Well, she didn’t get her Daddy’s inability to admit love." Fran smacked her husband in the arm while she placed Eve on the floor.

"Fran, that’s not funny!"

"Why? I thought it was." Fran stated watching Max put Jonah on the floor by his sister.

"Darling, it still makes me feel so bad and guilty for not expressing to you just how much I loved you years ago."

"Good, that’s the point!" Fran looked at Max and smiled innocently.

On the floor, Jonah began to yell at Eve, "Evie, talk about not fair! How long have you kept that a secret? Have you been practicing without me?"

"Yep, and deal with it, Jonah! I’m a girl and I will mature faster than you. You started it, if you wouldn’t have shown off, I wouldn’t have either." Eve smacked her brother in the arm and made him whine.

"Great, Eve has both her mother’s beauty and attitude." Max had to laugh at his daughter’s demeanor, "I wonder where she picked up hitting the men in her life across the arm. Would you know Fran?"

"Nope! I have no idea." She looked at Max and gave him her puppy dog look. Fran went over to the twins’ closet and searched for clothes to dress them in. "Max, here take these for Jonah." She handed him a pair of blue jeans and a little black tee-shirt to go with it. "So, Honey how is the finale going?"

"Oh, Fran is going better than expected. Did I tell you the name of it? Its called ‘Pup in Paris’. It’s taped and ready to air. No more changing. We’re going with what we got and I’m very proud of it."

"Oy, do we have to remember Paris? Max, you know it’s a sore spot with me." Fran stated pouting. "And you’re proud of it!"

"Fran, you know I’m not proud of what I did, I just meant I’m proud of how the episode turned out for my show." Max kissed Fran on the nose. "Meanwhile, we ended up with one another, so Paris is not valid anymore."

"Yeah, okay. Maybe not in your mind." Fran mumbled under her breath.

Meanwhile, while their parents were engrossed into their conversation, Eve and Jonah started up their own.

"Do ya think they would notice if we left for a little while?" Jonah asked Eve motioning towards the hallway.

"Hey are you thinking what I am?"

"Brighton’s and Gracie’s? Or Mommy and Daddy’s?"

"What ‘or’, Jonah! Let’s start with Mommy and Daddy’s and then work our way to the rest. We’re gonna play ‘grown-up’!" Eve gives Jonah that miniature copy of her mother’s mischievous grin.

Both babies wobbly stood up and headed out the door towards their parents’ closet. As they entered the room, Eve fell to her knees and crawled directly to the closet as Jonah went for the dresser, pulling out everything he thought would make him look more like Daddy. He pulled out a pair of boxer shorts and yelled for Eve.

"What?" Eve asked irritably after being interrupted with pulling down Mommy’s clothes from those annoying things that kept them in the air.

"Evie what do I do with these?" Jonah asked while holding them up.

"Put them on your head. Isn’t that where Mommy tells Daddy to put them?"

Fran and Max were still in the twins’ room arguing about Eve’s clothes. Fran had grabbed the hot pink and flourescent orange jumper with a bright green and blue shirt to go under it. Max chose the Osh Kosh B’Gosh pastel pink and white dotted jean outfit, which was cute but not what Fran planned on putting her daughter in.

"Fine. Max you tell Eve she’s wearing that and see how she reacts." Fran smiled at her husband knowing that her daughter was going to whine that she’d have to wear that foo-foo pink color. She wanted to look like Mommy and Fran knew it.

"Okay Darling, I’ll ask her, although why we should be asking, we’re the parents. They should be doing what we tell them, not the other way around." Max looked at Fran and then understood, "Oh, that’s right, she has her mother’s attitude and sense of style."

Fran hit Max across the arm and pointed towards the way the twins were supposed to be as she picked out their shoes. Max turned around and found no children.

"Fran, where are the children?"

"What do ya mean ‘where are the children’?" Fran turned immediately towards her husband and looked for herself.

"Exactly what I said." Max was about to say something else, but just then the house started to tremble making Fran fall into Max’s arms and push them both on the floor. A few things fell off the twins’ shelves and Fran and Max could hear glass breaking somewhere downstairs.

"Max, what is it? It’s an earthquake, isn’t it?" Fran softly asked, holding on to her husband for dear life. She then thought about her kids, "Jonah and Eve! Please God, let them be okay." Fran started screaming and tried to get up even though the house was still slightly shaking.

"Max, where are our kids?" Fran was hysterical and Max was trying to calm her down. Both of them were attempting to get a handle on the situation as well as looking for Jonah and Eve, and also worrying about Grace and Brighton.

Eve was content destroying the closet and trying her hardest to put Mommy’s dress over her head. She had already put on Mommy’s tiger print bra. Seeing the little girl now was almost impossible.

Eve looked around and saw the mess she was making but then she looked in Jonah’s direction and he had an even bigger mess. She was happy about that, because if they happen to get caught by the parental unit, than Jonah’s diapered butt would be in more trouble than her’s.

"Geesh Jonah, whatcha do empty the whole drawer out?"

He stuck his tongue out at her, "Look Evie, I found Mommy’s orange and black heels you hid a few months ago."

"Oooh....hide them under the bed. That way she won’t know I hid them to begin with."

Eve got up and started to walk towards her brother but she fell on her little bottom as the house started to shake.

"Evie I told you that you shouldn’t eat everything you see. You’re shaking the house!" Jonah teased his sister but stopped as a picture fell off their parent’s bedroom wall. Both kids dove into the clothes that surrounded them.

Max grabbed Fran’s hand as they went to look for the twins. They started down the hall and as soon as they stepped into their room the earthquake was over. But the scene they saw made them stop right in their tracks.

There was a pile of clothes by their closet with Eve’s head barely poking out with a big guilty smile on her face and there was Jonah with his little hand waving out from under a pair of Max’s boxer shorts by the bed. Relief filled both parents as they ran to pick up their kids. They laughed to get all the tension out of their bodies.

Meanwhile, Niles and Emily were on their way over to the Sheffield’s but Niles forgot Emily’s diaper bag. He wasn’t exactly used to being with Emily all day, but since CC had gone back to work full time, Niles thought he could take care of his little Babcock.

He didn’t mind doing things for Emily but when she cried he didn’t exactly know what to do with her. He tried feeding her or changing her, but a lot of the time when she cried, he could never figure out why. Although deep down he knew that she’s just complaining like her mother.

They reached the guest house once again and Niles grabbed the diaper bag but remembered that he needed diapers, and being the "butler" he was, he promptly had them stocked up.

"Come here, my little brunette." Niles tickled his little daughter as she just stared up to him and cooed.

They headed down the stairs to the basement and Niles set Emily on a blanket covering the floor. He went to grab the diapers, when he returned Emily was chewing on a casino chip.

"I always knew you had my style and brains, not like your mother’s which is full of Ca-Ca." Niles laughed at his own joke, wondering what CC would have yelled back. Emily just laughed at her Daddy.

Niles picked her up and was on the way back upstairs until he felt the entire house shake and the door to the upstairs was slammed tightly. In a few moments it was all over with, but Niles took another few moments before trying the stairs again.

"Did you feel that shaking? Well, that just means your mother is home." Niles tried joking with Emily who started to cry for one of her no reasons.

Niles started up the steps again. He was more worried about The Sheffield’s and CC then himself, since he knew he and Emily were okay. He reached out for the doorknob but as it turned and turned, the door just stayed shut. Niles set Emily down and shoved his arm against the door, only bruising it and nothing else.

Emily sensed the dread and ripped a wallop of a scream from her tiny lungs. Niles sighed and picked her up, this was going to be a long day.

Brighton was walking into his father’s office not realizing what he was going to encounter on the other side of the door. When he opened it, CC was in his face yelling, of course in CC’s defense she was thinking it was Maxwell, not Brighton.

"Maxwell, where the hell have you been? The network needs us to sign this release so the finale can be aired and you still have to approve it. Its bad enough we’re still waiting to hear if we have a show for next season or not. And whose idea was Paris anyhow?" CC looked up and into Brighton’s face. "B......B.....Brighton, yeah that’s right. Brighton." CC smiled at the fact she got his name right. "No really, Paris was a great idea. Um, where’s Maxwell?" CC quickly changed the subject.

"He took a break, don’t you?" Brighton looked at her, "Ever?" Sure marrying Niles and having Emily calmed CC down, but when she worked--everything and everyone better get out of her way or CC Babcock would mow them down.

"What the hell possessed him to do that? We have a deadline. There is no time to take breaks, our careers are riding on this whole last episode. I need him to sign this before we......" CC looked down at the document in her hands and then back up to Brighton. "How good can you forge your father’s signature?"

"No way! Let me say just one word--inheritance. There is nothing that is going to screw with that."

If there was one thing Fran proved over the years, it was to never interfere with his father’s work. Brighton shook his head as he could recall the times Dad had yelled at Fran. No way he was going to find himself fired from his first job. How humiliating would that be to get fired by Daddy! It made him feel good not to be the gofer anymore, he had become his father’s assistant. Okay so still the gofer but not Fred’s, anything was better than to work with that prune loving pharmacist from hell.

CC kept glaring at Brighton, and he decided that the papers he came in to get were not so important, it could wait. He turned and began to walk out but the sound he heard stopped him.

Suddenly a tremble started to build itself and rip through the whole studio. Everything was shaking and things were falling off the walls in his father’s office. He could hear equipment creaking on the stage.

Brighton and CC stared at each other and realized it was their first experience of an earthquake. Brighton wasn’t really scared, just a little shook up, but CC viewed this experience as an inconvenience and nothing more.

Max held both babies in his arms as he and Fran were assessing the damage downstairs. Not much really, they had been lucky the earthquake was only a 3.4 on the Richter scale.

"I’m glad Gracie is okay. She wasn’t shaken up at all. She’s so independent these days. Honey, she called me Mom. It really makes me happy, I didn’t want to say anything before, but it really hurt." Fran frowned as she remembered that not so long ago, Grace didn’t want to call her that because she was afraid of forgetting Sarah.

"Fran I know it did. You didn’t have to say anything, I already knew how you felt. But I told you, she’d eventually get through this and it would all work out. Speaking of our children, I can’t get through to the studio. I’m sure Brighton is fine though."

"Yeah knowing B, he probably got himself locked up with a beautiful blonde or something." Fran laughed thinking of the things her son would do if the opportunity presented itself.

Fran continued as she looked at Max, "I have to admit I was a little shaken, I mean in New York the only think we had to worry about was how to get a cab and how much snow was gonna fall. California has proven a little more of a challenge. Besides the current quake issue, we’ve had heat waves and the retail shopping of Beverly Hills." Fran ran her hand through Jonah’s hair and kissed Eve on the cheek.

"At least there is no real damage or anything." Max stated as they looked around.

"Oh look Max, it’s your Ming vase. It’s broken." Fran held up the vase for him to see.

"Do you think you can repair it again like the last time?" Max asked his wife trying to hold back his snicker.

"How did ya know I already broke it?"

"Because I got use to the way my wife super glues everything. We have lived together for almost eight years, Darling." Max placed the twins in their playpen and sat next to Fran on the couch.

"Hey at least I’m not the one who super glued a Brontosaurs on his hand."

"Fran that was four years ago. If you’d been home watching your children instead of being out on a date then I would have never done it."

"Oh sure blame me. If you would have admitted you loved me, I wouldn’t have been on a date!" Fran pokes her husband in the ribs. "Meanwhile, it seems to be getting hotter in here than it was a while ago." Suddenly Fran yelled out, "Niles! Niles!"

"Darling, I’ve already buzzed him but he hasn’t called back yet. I’m not sure he’s at home."

"I wonder where he is. He buzzed about an hour and a half ago saying he’d be over to fix a little nosh."

"He probably fell asleep singing Emily those ‘I wish I was on Broadway’ songs or ‘this is the play Daddy wrote, but Uncle Maxwell won’t produce it’ songs." Max started to laugh thinking of the time when Niles was going to star in his show but it never transpired and then the time Niles wrote a play and Fran was sure he was going to commit a murder. Max started to laugh even harder.

"Whatcha laughing about?"

"I was just remembering your’s and Niles’ attempt at producing a play. Wasn’t it last year about this time? Let’s see my almost nine month pregnant wife and my insubordinate butler almost cost me a quarter of a million dollars."

"Blah, blah blah.... you’re never gonna let me forget it either, are ya?" Fran asked her husband just as a loud noise came from somewhere in the house. The noise sounded more like a loud gurgle than an actual boom. As soon as it started it was over.

Fran watched Max run in the hallway and yelled after him, "What is it, Honey?"

The only response from Max was grumbling. Fran got up from the couch and went to go find Max. Eve and Jonah watched their Mommy leave the room and then turned their attention back to each other.

"Jonah, Mommy is right, it is pretty hot in here."

"No, Drool Queen, its just all that hot air of yours." Jonah smiled and giggled at his own joke, he looked exactly like his father when he did that.

"Watch out! I’ve bitten you once and I’ll do it again, Talcum Butt." She eyed his hand closest to her, "Do you think Mommy and Daddy are still upset about their room being destroyed by us?"

"No they blamed an earthquake, whatever that is. I think we’re out of the woods on that. We should have thought of something like this before. Hmmm....." Jonah sat there thinking about the next time.

"Waaaahhhhhh!!" Emily wailed as loud and long as she could. Niles was holding her and trying everything he could do to calm his daughter down. Anyone who happened to stumble upon the two of them would have laughed.

Niles had put an old pail on his head and then grabbed a mop, trying to make his little girl laugh. Emily’s little bit of hair was covered with a bandana that Niles cut down to fit her. But all wasn’t going well.

Emily looked at her Daddy and cried. She wasn’t hurt but she wasn’t happy either. Today was the day her, Eve and Jonah were going to pick who was going to star in Brighton’s next film. Emily knew her chances were better this time. She was a week older now and ‘the older’ ones wouldn’t view her as a baby anymore.

"Daddy, I need to go! Mommy told me that I’m the best. So I have to beat Jonah and Eve out in the casting!" That was the Emily’s interpretation to her ‘Waaaahhhhhh!’, Niles just didn’t understand the baby talk, like Jonah and Eve did.

Niles stared at his daughter, "Hey you little weed, why are you crying? Daddy’s tried all his tricks on you--they work on your mother. I’ve manipulated you, called you names and dressed us both up like....." Niles looked down at their outfits, "As Aunt Fran would put it, we’d both need fashion therapy."

Emily cooed for an instant at the word, "fashion". Eve had been teaching her the true fashion of a Sheffield. Emily always sat down and intently listened to Eve and her details of the latest fashion for babies.

"Oh, you heard Mommy’s name huh? That’s what this is....you miss Mommy." Niles thought he figured it out, until Emily screamed again.

"Waaahhhh!" Emily looked at her Daddy and tried again to tell him, but it still only came out in baby lingo. "No Daddy, I want to hear about fashion. I want to be picked for the star!"

"That’s how I feel when I see her too!" Niles laughed trying to think what CC would have said or what she would have done since that kind of talk turned her on.

"Why did this happen today? I so didn’t need this on top of everything else." CC started off, obviously not very happy.

"You don’t need this? I don’t need to be stuck here with you either." Brighton rambled as he looked around seeing what was damaged, if anything. Nothing major except a few awards that fell off the wall.

CC picked up the phone to call Niles and check on Emily. The phone wasn’t working so she grabbed her cell phone, but to her dismay it dropped out of her pocket and had broken during the quake.

"Great! There is no use in working since nothing has seemed to go right. Now, how am I gonna get out of here–Niles was going to pick me up. The cast is gone and what’s left of the crew, I wouldn’t even beg for a ride home. What about you? What are you driving?"

"Try riding. Not driving." He smiled trying to tell her he didn’t drive. "We brought in the limo, which I’m assuming is home with Dad." Brighton stated a little embarrassed. "What? They’re making me pay for my own gas and repairs!"

CC rolled her eyes. She liked Brighton though, he was very manipulative and was caring too. He reminded her of, God, did she have to admit it.....okay, he reminded her of Fran. CC thought for a moment, Fran wasn’t bad at all. In fact she grew to like Fran and the two had become, yes Friends.

"Well we can’t call a cab if we don’t have a phone."

"It’s not like we can go hail a cab like in New York." Brighton started off, with that look of his past in his eyes.

"Great! Well since we’re here.....how about signing your father’s signature for me." CC jested with Brighton.

He looked at her and couldn’t believe she was joking around with him. "Okay, but it will cost you."

"What are we talking?"

"How about letting me film one of the episodes?" Brighton grinned liked a little boy.

"Isn’t it bad enough your mother wants to do more ‘real life’ interviews? Now you want to be the camera man. Hmmm..." CC pondered how to make this negative into a positive. "Is this for school credit or do we have to pay you?"

"Let me ask you a question, Miss Babcock. Have you ever worked for free?" Brighton laughed and then thought for a second, "Too bad Niles wasn’t here, he’d have a zinger at that statement."

"Yeah, you’re right. I’ve got a bet going with Fran that Emily’s first word will be an insult." CC let a wholehearted laugh erupt out of her, and it felt good. "No really Brighton, I’ll make you a deal. If we get renewed for next season, then I will take you up on that offer but if we get canceled that’s a whole other story. Maybe I’ll be asking you for a job."

They both stared at each other wanting to laugh, but CC’s words were so true. So much work had been put into "The Nanny" and it still didn’t seem to be enough for the Network Brass.
