Is the LSAT a good test?
You should pay attention to the LSAT's strengths and its weaknesses because they will help you not only with the test but also with law school.
- Strengths: Why does a student's LSAT score so commonly indicate their first year law school grades? Because the test does a good job testing reasoning skills necessary for law school. Of course, they have to test this in a practical way which is why you get the LSAT format. The closest is the reading comprehension section. The logical reasoning section gets to the bare logic burried in the logical reading sections. The games help test your ability to deduct non-stated truths from given rules.
- Weaknesses: The LSAT is timed and multiple choice. Therefore, it is generally not well adapted for poor test takers who are otherwise intelligent. If you aren't good at test taking then you have to practice these skills.
